I am a Fayette County local and I probably frequent this place more than I should, but I cannot help myself. The food is always pretty good, but the real draw for me is the staff. Of course Marcie and Ginger are my absolute favorite wait staff people of any restaurant, anywhere, of all time! As a regular I am usually greeted with a sarcastic or snippy comment, but occasionally I get something nice out of them! :-) For those of you who are not known to them, you will get nothing but sweetness from them. The other staff there are top notch as well. As I mentioned, the food is always good. I go there mostly for breakfast, but have been in for dinner a few times in the past. The food is always good and the restaurant is always clean. The biggest issue is there is a long table the groups sit at. What I noticed at times elderly couples arrive and they don't find a place to sit. Maybe consider breaking the long table into 2 or 3 separate tables. It's already sad enough I have to pick and choose which days I'm able to eat here because a worker named Mallory works there and she wants to fight me due to her dating my son's father, but I go in on a day she is off and I have other coworkers trying to take photos of me and acting extremely immature. This is a place I have always loved to come to throughout my entire life, my grandpa goes there faithfully but I guess due to immature and very disrespectful behavior from the employees they will be losing a lot of service! We have eaten here two times this month during the dinner service for something close by and quick. The first time we waited around 45 minutes for our food and they mixed up our order with someone else's. The second time, which was last night, we waited over an hour for our food. There wasn't good communication about the wait time with our food. I wish they would've told us it would be a while until our food got out when we sat down. If the staff communicated better we wouldn't have minded as much. It was cold where we were sitting so we were uncomfortable and hungry and that wasn't a good mix. By the time we got our food we felt like we had to rush because they closed in 30 minutes. I don't know if they have low kitchen staff in the evening but things need to be communicated better with the team and to their customers so they don't run into this issue. read more

We had an ok dinner. my potato was served cold and asked for it to be warmed. BBQ great, but we waited and waited for our server We wanted to order a small BBQ sandwich for my 86 year old Mom and since our server never came back, We asked at 750;if we could order a small BBQ at tbe cashier We were told NO . We were so disappointed especially since there were customers coming in at 750 order dinner , They were not turned away because it was almost closing time. Sad ! read more

Great family run diner on HWY 64, just past the Somerville town square. Good 'home cooked' style food served in generous portions. Known for their $10.99 catfish special, they also serve barbecue and most southern staples. The Hut has served Somerville for generations. read more

I stop in here on some trips to Selmer for breakfast, and I can only say I wish I lived closer. I would eat here as often as possible. Caution, sometimes on the weekend mornings, both their parking lot and the adjacent one are packed - you might want to pass on dining here those times. Just a standard country breakfast with some of the best sausage, biscuits and gravy you every had. Hey, take that short trip from the Big M, come on down, you won't be disappointed. read more

Delicious sausage and cheddar omelet with crunchy good hash browns and two ok-ish biscuits. My wife enjoyed crispy (but not brittle) bacon, scrambled eggs and biscuits (she rated them higher). Quick, friendly service with perfect hot hot coffee. Some seating still available at 8:15 Saturday morning but don't wait too late. There is a buffet (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, grits and pancakes) but we ordered from the menu. We will definitely be back. read more

I'm gonna update again and add another star. We had the Sunday afternoon buffet. I have to admit it was pretty darn good. I was impressed with the serving temperatures to be buffet. Service was great too. I guess I expected too much from this place. It is what it is. Other restaurants have come and gone who served better food, but The Hut will always be here. You can depend on it. Apparently, it's just what this town needs. And they do provide a much needed service to the community. read more

I can only give them this review and rating for breakfast. I haven't had the pleasure of dining there for lunch or dinner. HOWEVER, I have had the pleasure of having breakfast there. The breakfast staff is composed of some of the kindest ladies my wife and i have encountered in years. I'm talking about the ones that have been working there now for few years. If they don't remember your name they darn well remember your face and your preferences! Look up "Southern Hospitality" and you'll see a photo of these ladies as reference. Just what you'd expect! I mean, our first time in there and they acted like we had been friends for years. It doesn't get any better than that. And the food? That's what I call a breakfast! Down home, great tasting, southern fashioned breakfast! From the eggs, to the hash browns, to the bacon, the sausage, the pork TENDERLOIN! Don't forget the grits or the pancakes either! Oh...one last thing about the service? They never let that coffee cup get empty either. There's a reason why you see the same, veteran, staff of ladies there morning after morning. Because they're good! Places like this, don't let staff like that get away from them! They make it worth the drive to go out there for breakfast. I love it when business demands I travel out to Somerville. When it does, I go in the morning and start the day out at the Hut. Then I just pray the rest of the day goes as well....because it's pretty darn hard to get better from there on out!!!! read more

I understand closing hours however we called at 7 o'clock to place a to go order (plenty of time before they close). The person on the phone said we close at 8 and said bye and hung up the phone. The whole point of hours of operation is HOURS OF OPERATION! If you don't want to work until 8 then close earlier. read more

This is another disaster: what was once a great place to get a BBQ sandwich has gone down the crapper. Back in the mid sixties. I would stop her and get a couple of pulled-pork sandwiches, put them under the hood of my car on the way back to Memphis. The food was excellent, the service great, and the prices were more than generous. Now, you get great service if you are a regular, big-tipper, and are happy to spend $8-$10 for a $2,00 breakfast. Been there for the last time.....just don't get off on being treated like a blind imbecile. My suggestion is "go-hungry" before you pull into their parking lot. read more

My family and some friends and I met up for lunch at The Hut today. I have been there a few times in the past. Their business was steady today. I've always been happy with the food I have received. Today I had a grilled chicken sandwich. I was very happy with the way the chicken was seasoned. I had a couple of things added to my sandwich. They got everything right. Alot of times when I go places they don't get my additions right. I have never had that problem at The Hut. I haven't been to The Hut in a while, so I was impressed with the large size of the drink cups they now use. Since it was lunch time they were starting to get busy. The people with me didn't have to wait for long to get drink refills when they asked for them. The only thing I wish was different at The Hut was that the bathrooms are small and don't have a changing station for parents to take care of diapering needs. I had to go to my car to change my daughter. Other than that The Hut is very family friendly. I definitely recommend The Hut for it's food. read more

We were taking a ride out to Somerville, so I hopped on Yelp to see if there were any good places to eat. Found this little restaurant, so we left in time to make it before breakfast was over. My brother-in-law got the buffet and said it was very good. The rest of us ordered from the breakfast menu. We all enjoyed our meals and there was plenty of food on each plate! The food is great but the service leaves something to be desired. The staff is friendly but they just disappear after the food comes out. We didn't see our waitress again after our food was delivered. My husband had to go to the counter and ask someone to refill his cup and then had to do the same thing when we were finished to get a to go box. This happens almost every time we eat here. We really enjoy the food so we come back but it's really starting to get old. Honestly, it seems to be the nights when the wait staff is nothing but high school kids. Our go to place coming home from Pickwick. We try and time it just perfectly to get there on Sunday right before the church crowd gets out and it gets busy. The staff here is always super friendly and very attentive! It's one of those seat yourself type places that offers a menu choices as well as a buffet. I always order the fried chicken salad.
