Not my favorite place. It's hit or miss. The bouncers, like to be picky. The security guards are rude and enjoy pushing their customers out of their way when walking instead of saying excuse me. And the bar tenders will ignore you and make you wait like 15 minutes to order a drink. The bar is known for their fish bowls which are actually SO good. And the only thing worth going for. We were out with a group of 9 and the bar tenders kept ignoring us and saying we didn't have enough people to order one. It also depends who in the group orders the fish bowl. But down town Tucson has tons of really awesome bars so don't waste your time for this one unless you are going for a specific event, and even then just expect to get treated like you aren't suppose to be there. This isn't Vegas, the employees need to know how to treat their customers like humans they want to return to the establishment. read more

A drunken time was had by all. With $2.50 Landshark beers how could you not have a blast? There are some definite pluses and some minuses to this bar. Overall, it's a good place to hang out with your crew. What I don't like are bathroom attendants. I mean really, I'm grown and know how to wash my hands. Why do I need to pay someone to hand me a paper towel? That's a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I very much enjoyed to open patio and the great party games. Any time you can play giant Jenga is a good time. The sand area with beanbags was a lot of fun too. There is plenty of seating at the outside benches and a ton of room to dance. The door man was pretty cool and let our whole group in, about 20 people, for one lump sum. The fact that there is a cover charge is a bit annoying but whatever. I found the bar staff to be quick and polite. Customer service is key. If I were in the neighborhood I would come back and enjoy some cheap drinks and some good outdoor time. read more

I saw the giant Easter Island head earlier in the day and knew that we had to check this place out when we came back to 4th Ave that evening. We walked past it initially on Saturday night because we were on a mission to get to the Surly Wench, but later when we had the urge to hop over to another bar we came back here. We were not disappointed! My memory is a little hazy at that point in the evening as we'd been ordering drinks at various bars for several hours, but as I recall it was fun, drinks were good, no problems. We payed $5 cover to get in and there was a reggae band playing, which I enjoyed. There were a lot of people there and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Just turned 21 and went to Hut last night as a last stop on a bar hop...love it! I was always really interested in what it would be like since ive always seen the outside ( who wouldnt notice the giant tiki head?!) and i was pleased. I dont have any real bar experience but of all the 4th av bars this was my fav lzast night. Keep in mind it was a wednesday night but The Hut was actually packed! waited in a long line to get in, the guy at the front was super nice and accepted my paper ID since to get your over 21 license it takes 15 mailing days so they give you a temp. I was worried they were going to turn me away because I heard a lot of bars are not warmed up to the paper IDs but he was really cool and let me and my whole group in. When you get in the patio they have a big sand area ( nice sand not dirt from the sand) a ton of room to dance with a DJ and lights, which is all a drunk group of girls could ask for, nice chairs and tables, giant jenga and connect 4, and the tiki torches everywhere. It was pretty cool for a smallish Tucson bar. I went inside and expected it to be dead but it was soooooooo busy! A group of our guys waited in line forever to try to yell a drink order to the bartender who was doing amazing for tons of college kids screaming things at him! We asked for a fishbowl and he recomended the fat boy. The drink was perfect. It was huge and only cost $12. Really sweet but so amazing i could have drank 7 of them. I was givin a bunch of drinks by my group and they were all really good! The Adios wasnt as strong as ive had it other places but it was still really good. The bar has a great energy and if you sit on the patio it seems less loud and crowded even though it really wasnt. Bartenders were constintly clearing our drinks which was awesome because then there was more room o the table for more haha. Loved it and cant wait to go back! read more

As someone who doesn't typically go bars(personal choice) when I do I like going to a bar that isn't a super loud and crazy environment that I can still have a good time at. I have been going to the Hut for almost a year now after walking past the iconic tiki head I'm glad I decided to wander in with some friends. We had a really great time and the bartenders were very attentive without being over bearing. It has sort of become my go to place if I choose to go out and the staff took the time to know me by my name and I feel very welcome each time. Overall pretty calm place. read more

The Hut is a staple if you're out drinking on fourth ave. They have specials every night of the week and I don't think I have ever paid more than $3 for a single drink. The thing I like most about this place is the full length shuffle board table inside and the life-size jenga outside near the front entrance. There is always a DJ in the outdoor area and live bands playing on the weekends too. Some of the bands are actually really great too! It was 8:45 on a friday night and the place was empty! The Bartenders were nice, and were very helpful in the deciding process of drinks. This place is great. I've worked shows at a bunch of venues, but very superior staff and management at the Hut. We had an incident at one show involving a sound guy, but everyone handled it very well (except me), and the next time we were back everything was great again. Cheap drinks, really cool outdoor area with pool tables, and they even let me freshen up in a nice bathroom when the band left for the hotel while I was still working on guitars. Being from Phoenix, this place was definitely something to remember. The giant tiki head out front makes it impossible not to see. The drink deals were great! The service was a tad slow for a Saturday afternoon. I would have expected them to have more than 2 bar tenders on the day they host a big dodge ball tournament but that may just be what I'm used to in Phoenix. Overall not a bad time! read more

The decor kicks ass, & the bartender I had was amazing under pressure; there was an overwhelming amount of people at her station (inside) & she handled it like a certified drink-slinger. Interesting thing about the spot, is every section has a different kind of crowd; that's neither good, not bad, just an interesting footnote. The crowd changes when the live music comes in, which isn't bad; the dj they had talked too much on the mic, but they cut them off early anyway. The crowd this place attracts on weekend nights is hit or miss, so scan it before you get a drink. Going on a weekend was maybe the wrong time to go, because the place seems like it has a higher potential than 2-stars. The entrance to this place has a taco truck and a huge tiki guy in the front watching all who enter. The front patio is spacious with an outdoor bar and stage for performances. Inside has shuffle board, a huge bar, and a performance stage that's visible from the back. I think there was an additional patio towards he back but I didn't go there. The Hut is a fantastic, laid-back place to have a beer or a well-made tiki beverage. The atmosphere is pure beach bar complete with a gigantic head a la Easter Island, though it is really a transplant from a closed mini golf place. We came for an early happy hour and the bartender was more than friendly. When he found out we were Mai Tai connoisseurs he shared The Hut's unique recipe with us and though it looks and tastes a bit different than other Mai Tai's, they have recreated the classic version. He also insisted on making us up the signature drink of The Hut, the Fat Man, so named because the place used to be a bomb casing factory back in the 50s. Drinking with history - I love it! It also has a small, but nice stage for bands. I will come back and check out the music some time. The other thing I have to check out is Tiki Tim's, an airstream turned food truck where Tim serves up some island fare for crowds Thursday through Saturday. I fell in love with this place from the first time I went there. Great outdoor and indoor bands. That huge Tiki is great. Free outdoor pool tables, sand. The music is always great. I great place for college students and old deadheads mixing together and it works. Staff is always friendly and I can walk in once every month or so and they remember my drink. If you are looking for a laid back dive bar to play fun drunken games and have cheap drinks, this is the place for you! Came here for super bowl with some friends and bf and had a great time. Wasn't packed at all like most places get on that day. The only bad thing was they didnt have the sound on the TVs and I really wanted to hear my girl Katy Perry for the half-time show. Other than that we had a great time on the free pool tables and giant jenga. At one point my bf and friend turned giant jenga into giant dominoes which was quite entertaining for everyone there.
