    Strawberry and Chocolate Soft Serve
    Mollie M.

Great local ice cream joint- both walk up and drive thru options are available. I love the outside vibe of the establishment and it's in a good location for foot traffic. Their soft serve was good. I preferred the chocolate to the strawberry though as the strawberry tasted artificial. The picture is a size small (I was able to split flavors), so they definitely give good portions! I also tried their cherry dole whip which was SWEET and tart.

3 different dole whip flavors. Pineapple, Lemon and Mango.

Great ice cream. They have weekly specials and the service is excellent. It an old fashioned ice cream shop and you will like what you get!

I have an ice cream and it was great and it was cheap. The place was fine but it was cold outside.

Prices are reasonable and selections are nice. Strawberry Shortcake is the best around.

The buildings are shipping containers connected to a large pavilion that has several picnic tables. Behind the pavilion is a spot to play corn hole and lush grass for kids to play. There are games on the tables as well. The day my pals and I went, there was a nice breeze on a day of dangerous heat, and I never wanted to leave... why would I? Yummy custard, good conversation, great patrons (everyone that stopped by were so friendly) and the best chocolate chip cookie I've EVER had in my life (and I'm old), I was in heaven. I had some kind of coffee/espresso concrete. (I forgot the name. ) It has a good taste but seemed a little runny for a concrete. Still VERY tasty. One of my pals had vanilla. (She's lactose intolerant but still loved the ice cream. ) Another had chocolate and he LOVED it. My other friend had an Italian Ice. Honestly, I've never been one to order "flavored ice" but apparently it was really good. All this, and it barely made a dent in the wallet. These items are priced right! Now, let's say you want to go here but on the day you can go (they are open 7 days a week so no excuses) it's a bit chilly but you are craving something sweet or decadent. What do you do? I'll tell you.... get one of the homemade cookies. How good are these cookies? Well, one of my pals lives in Ohio, and he bought 2 to take back with him. The owner came out and went table to table to ask how we were enjoying our treats. She's the genius behind the cookie recipe and honestly one of the nicest owners I've met. One of the people I was with started telling her his life story... he's 87, so it's cute, and she listened and even asked questions before moving on to another table. We will DEFINITELY be back! And we will bring friends!

That was a BIG mistake, with the HUGE crowd in the courtyard for viewing the solar eclipse, they lost some major money and the crowd was not talking fondly of them. Any way, the staff inside the little Cold Herald building, hustled and did the best they could. They were selling a small menu of food, specialty cocktails and draft beers. I enjoyed a brat, pretzel with beer cheese and both were stadium quality = they satisfied my hunger pains. I also enjoyed the specialty cocktail, Dark Noon Elixir and it was damn good. Later in the day, I had a refreshing, Solar Shady (cute name for the eclipse). I'll close with a shout out to the staff for working extra hard, when it could have been easier if their boss would have just opened Old Herald for this special event.

It's clever name for an ice-cream expansion "across the plaza" from the parent restaurant. No gelato tonight (well, it is the end of the season). But a couple scoops of "praline pecan" was a delicious dessert. That hard-sserve ice cream must have been mighty frozen, since it took several minutes in the hopping-around it's-cold-out-here weather to finally get our two cups. Thanks, C-herald, with your proximity to mama O-herald, I'm sure someone will suggest we try you again.
