This place is not bad. I remember getting an icecream cake here before and it tasted good. Also got some icecream items (not pictured) that were good enough to be called a proper icecream shop..however the prices just don't justify it for me. It's not something I will get ALL the time, for some reason when they make the cone it's very slanted/crooked and it's not as much icecream as you would get from a truck in my opinion. The bowls of icecream are crazy expensive, when you build your own waffle bowl. They also sell fresh popcorn and nachos. It also gets VERY crowded and it's almost impossible to move around in there, they have kiosks that you can order from so you don't have to wait in line, which is nice. read more

As a person who is lactose intolerant, it is hard for me to find places that have non-dairy ice cream in my area. I was craving a milkshake & The Ice Cream House...saved me and gained a new fan! I ordered via Uber Eats, the to go packaging was so cute! It was also reassuring that there were nondairy stickers on the bag as well. The milkshake was packaged carefully. There wasn't any spillage and there was a big straw included, so I was able to fully indulge. The taste was amazing as soon as I took the first spit. I have been coming to this place for so so so many years and was always satisfied with the customer service. Since last year everything got much more unsatisfying in terms of customer service. Today I was stating and waiting on the line for more then 15 min where there was only one customer purchasing and 3 employees assisting that one person. This was the straight up weirdest ice cream shop experience we've had. At 11 pm on a Saturday we enter this large but unassuming ice cream shop. We instantly realize why all the parking spaces are taking there were (I'm not exaggerating) approximately 200 orthodox Jewish people here for an 8th birthday party. It's loud and there are kids of all ages running in every direction, it's loud and chaotic to put it mildly. We ordered on ice cream cup with two toppings (to split) and it took literally 15 mins for them to make. HOLY COW! I entered this place and thought I'd died and gone to vegan Heaven! If the huge selection of vegan ice creams wasn't enough, I walked to the back of the store and saw a cooler with about 40 different types of vegan ice cream cakes, complete with sprinkles, Hello Kitty toys, and anything a vegan or Kosher kid could ever want. I initially thought the novelty treats (ice cream bars, cookies, etc) were a little pricey, at about $9 a box - and yeah, that is WAY pricier than "traditional" treats you'd buy at a grocery - but a lot of the treats average less than $2 a piece, which is much less than you'd pay for dessert in a restaurant. I've had Klein's ice cream before and I know that butter pecan is my favorite so I had to go with that. For my second scoop, I got some sort of vanilla-base ice cream with nuts, cookies, carmel, or something. This was just yesterday but I can't remember what was in it but it was fantastic. I also tried the orange swirl, which was really good. I can't wait until my niece and nephew come to town so I can buy them one of these vegan cakes! read more

I, for one, am happy this place exists! I am a gentile therefore do not keep kosher, but I love my kosher ice cream place! I have not tried the non dairy items, but plan to whenever I actually end up giving up dairy (if that ever happens). Every time I have been there we have been treated with the utmost respect. Folks are nice and willing to let us sample stuff before we commit. Our first time there we were going to get larger orders and the man behind the counter was nice enough to tell us we were in for A LOT of ice cream. At first I was taken aback because, umm, don't tell me how much ice cream I *should* order, but after he showed us the portions (which are hefty) I was grateful! Take my Ice Cream House review with an enormous grain of Kosher salt, as I felt it conflated quite a few issues (and I get sensitive when it comes to how I spend my money and what I eat). Let's get it out of the way up front that I respect the faith-based aspects of this operation, and none of my assessment of Ice Cream House impinges explicitly upon anyone's beliefs. I knew the proclivity of the area going in. I was fully cognizant that it's not strictly vegan, as the Yelp categorization indicates, and that dairy and non-dairy do not mix. I verified the prohibition of cross-pollination via the dairy and non-dairy windows, which cater to the clientele when it comes to hard flavors (and the separate machines for soft-serve). It's my fault for requesting that I try one dairy flavor and another non-dairy one with separate spoons, not realizing the scope of this dogma extended to those not cut from the same cloth. The sheer hostility with which I was met, however, is something that is not only bad for business, but is socially unacceptable. Intolerance is much different than blatant disrespect, the latter of which I did not and would not exhibit, though onlookers could've easily been misled. Do not confuse lack of exposure for malice, and you can incorporate more customers. Make these things clear up front and maintain a customer base that dabbles in both. Do not alienate potential revenue through nasty attitudes and personal animosity. This seems to not be exclusive to religious issues, as they are also irrationally rigid about other policies. They do not disseminate a phone # to customers (admittedly obnoxious ones, but prolific spenders nonetheless). Their explanation is that they get too busy to answer; could've fooled me, given the foot traffic through here over the course of an entire summer day. Perhaps this is because their 2 staffmembers seemed inordinately overwhelmed by the 3 customers inside. MOVING ON...The space itself is typical-bright-ice-cream-shoppe-cum-candy-store, and I tried one dairy and one non-dairy hard flavors (much to their chagrin) and they were average at best (nondairy coffee was rancid and bitter like a straight bean and the dairy pb&j was ok but something I have whipped up at home before). At $3 for a scoop and $4.50 for 2 and $5 for 3 (hard), I opted for a medium soft-serve @ $4, but unfortunately they were not receptive to my order. I ended up with a single dairy flavor (vanilla, identical to that at Mickie D's) and they did not honor my response that they didn't let me finish my order. For the first time in my life, though to myself, "wow, the sugar-free, fat-free might've been the better choice". I was, of course, told to use the spoons I had sampled with to eat my purchase; guess they didn't realize I'd be tainting the dairy if I mixed the non-dairy spoon in there. I see the merit and I respect the mission, but no. Never again. read more

Mhmmmm yumm ! I always wanted to come here since the outside looked so nice and cute. I finally came here last week when it was warm. I got Tiramisu ice cream on a dipped chocolate cone. It cost about $3.50. The Ice cream ice bomb.The scoops are gigantic! And they also have a holder for your cone which I loved. I came to get some fresh juice and a wheat grass shot. The guy takes my order and then goes to make the juice. First he looks super confused and starts looking up how to make the juice that I picked off the menu. After about 10 mins he tells me they don't have some of the ingredients for the juice, do I want to get a smoothie? I said no just replace the things you don't have with things you do have. Then he comes back and says they don't have wheatgrass. So why is it on the menu??? About 5 mins later he comes back and tells me the juice machine is not working and the guy still hasn't come to fix it. At that point I just left because it was getting ridiculous. The Ice Cream House is marketed to the kosher consumer and it's in a large Jewish neighborhood. It's very successful at this. It's not marketed to the vegan consumer, and some of the workers might not even know what vegan means. Yes, you can find vegan products there, but someone with vegan requirements needs to expect that they might have to explain what they want. It's the same thing if a kosher consumer was in an area where there weren't many kosher consumers. I don't understand the complaint about not wanting to use the spoon that had a dairy sample of ice cream on it on the non-dairy ice cream. If vegan ice cream is so important to you, why are you eating a dairy sample? Someone who eats only vegan wouldn't have this problem and another vegan reviewer had great things to say about this ice cream store. My advice to a vegan consumer is that there seems to be a great selection for you but come with a positive attitude and do not expect the workers to be knowledgable about your food requirements. I don't know how surly the workers are, I'm not often in that neighborhood, but I know from experience as a kosher consumer that if you ask nicely and explain briefly what your needs are people are usually good at helping you. read more

I don't live far from this store, and have purchased ice cream for my dairy free friends. The ice cream is not bad, however this store gets only a one star for the following reason. Half the time I walk past the store way after its closing the gate is down, but the doors to the place are left open. I don't know if there is some worker in the store but lets face it you have pigeons, mice, dirty paper and other things that can just fly into this store. I walk by there and think that there is rodent poop all over the ice cream counters. I don't know why they keep these doors open. I have pointed it out to the police and to the Board of Health.
