I was visiting Richmond Hill from out of town and decided to stop in for some ice cream. The ice cream itself was very good, and the flavors we tried were delicious. Unfortunately, the service and portion size were disappointing. When we ordered, we were asked what flavor we wanted and what type of cone, but we were never asked what size we wanted. We were then served what appeared to be less than a single scoop of ice cream. I was genuinely surprised by how small the serving was--I've visited many ice cream shops in different places and have never received a scoop this small. The quality of the ice cream was excellent, which makes the experience even more disappointing. With better communication during the ordering process and more reasonable portion sizes, this could be a great place to visit. We stopped in to grab a treat the staff was friendly and the place looked clean with a good selection of flavors. The quality of the ice cream was pretty good although it's a little expensive in my opinion. We ordered a chocolate malt and a two scoop waffle cone - I think I may have e ordered bad being the chocolate ice cream used in my malt was really dark and filled with tiny flakes of chips which I didn't care for so I didn't finish it, the waffle cone was filled with salted caramel turtle and butter pecan ice cream and it was absolutely delicious. We were excited to visit the sister store to the one in Pooler. Friendly staff with a fun atmosphere. The place was absolutely packed when we left less than 30 minutes before close on a Thursday. It was a little surreal to see quite so many people at an ice cream parlor. The one in Pooler was much less crowded and we went on a weekend. We split a very pretty sundae. Ice cream - amazing customer service - hard to say, no one was rude in particular but the two young ladies behind the counter seemed very hasty with us. Little to no communication skills it seemed. Went here with the hubby to try out our local ice cream shop. I tried the dole pineapple whip on a chocolate cookie cone. My husband tried the sea turtle with chocolate chip cookie cone. Never saw neat cones like that! Lots of ice cream choices! Friendly staff. They do have these cookie ice cream sandwiches that look amazing. You can also get your ice cream in a soda fountain glass and enjoy in the shop. There is a kids play area with toys too. So, we liked it so much we came here again the next day! COVID-19 Note: I wanted to reward my kids on their last day of school, for adapting to e-learning and doing so well with school given the current circumstances. I turned to The Ice Cream Stop for the treats and I was really impressed as to how they themselves have adapted to the current situation. We drove up in one of the spaces in front of the shop and one of the employees with a cool face covering came out and greeted us at the driver's side window. I had not placed an order yet, but he directed me to their website www.theicecreamstop.com and he told me he would bring it out to us. He assured me it wouldn't be more than a few minutes since there was no one else in line. The ordering is super easy and straight forward. It will first ask you to choose your pick up location (as they have two, Richmond Hill and Pooler) and then you can choose your size (kids, single scoop, double scoop, quart, etc.), flavors, toppings and # of spoons. Currently, they are only offering scoops of ice cream (no cones, only closed cups), ice cream sandwiches and gift cards. There is also an option to leave the staff a tip! The online ordering made it a contactless transaction and we received a brown bag with our three cups of ice cream with utensils and plenty of napkins! There was even a cute little hand written note on the bag! Derek( I think his name was) was professional and sweet too. This is the spot for Ice Cream. Exceptional flavors, service and an all around happy place to be in. They've got at least 2-3 dozen flavors, different toppings, and shakes as well. I'm always a fan of the atmosphere here and how well the kids behind the counter are. I've never had an ice cream I didn't like here. My top go-to ice creams are Pralines n Cream and the Birthday Cake ice cream, single scoop in a cup. My kid loves the little train that goes around the store also. They have a little outdoor area with umbrellas which is nice for the warmer days outside. Hopefully I don't get trouble for this but ... it's on par with Leopold's. read more

Used to live in Richmond Hill and found the Ice Cream Shop while getting Asian next door. Fell in love with the Banana Pudding ice cream!. Moved in 2020 and came in town this weekend for a visit. What'd I gave to had-banana pudding ice cream. I get there and they no longer sell it--the young lady said they changed vendors! I was truly disappointed to say the least! Well-I don't have a reason to seek them out-not only because they no longer carry my favorite flavor-but their prices are outrageous. I used to buy the ice cream by the pint or quart. $16.49 for a quart of ice cream is highway robbery. I understand inflation...but this is something else entirely. The young people who work there are very pleasant & deliver excellent customer service. That's the reason for the 3 stars. read more

Darling store, sweet local small town hang that has the vibe of a 50's diner. Incredibly family friendly. This place needs no introduction. Everyone in Richmond Hill knows and loves this place. Every time I am in town visiting my parents I have to stop by. They have tons of delicious ice creams to choose from and the staff is always super friendly. They have a huge play area for the kids and a train that runs around the store at the push of a button. My wife and I were able to sit and talk while our daughter played. We have never been, but on Saturday nights in the Summer they play a movie on the outside of the restaurant after dark.
