Amazing Indian cuisine!! I expected no less from London. We had a bit of trouble picking the curries we wanted, so the manager ordered for us!! We loved everything. We got the Lamb Korma (lighter curry shown in photos), Chicken Tikki (amazingly tender; the pieces of chicken shown) and King Prawn Bhuna(darker curry shown). We had naan and rice. Lily Tnadoor was very very good. We came here early on Sunday, around 5:30 for dinner. The Yelp reviews enticed us. Apparently they only open at 6PM most days but they have an all day buffet on Sunday, so we were lucky to be able to sit at 5:30. I particularly liked the menu because it had descriptions of the different curries. For example, it explained what a bhuna type curry was: "This dish is cooked in a medium strength thick sauce tomatoes and mixed spices, slow cooking process develops the thick texture of the sauce." Very helpful Lily Tandoori menu! Thank you! Usually I'm just overwhelmed and pick something random. We ordered the Prawn Puree- a delicious prawn curry concoction on a fried tortilla, and the Vegetable Thali, and Prawn Bhuna. The Vegetable Thali provided a lot of different options, both spicy and mild. However, the Prawn Bhuna really blew me away. The flavours were so wonderful, with a large amount of shrimp. It was the perfect amount of spice but also a bit creamy. Incredibly delicious. Service was always very good. read more

Tourist review. Good Stuff The food was amazing! A friend in our party is from Indian and would not stop talking about the flavors and authenticity of the menu. The table shared multiple dishes. We all had plenty to eat as the portions were larger than expected. The prices were average for the area. No one blinked at them. The portions were representative of the prices as well. Not Great The staff was not overly friendly. It was hard to tell if they were over worked (the place was packed!) or just not friendly. We asked for a table for 8 and were told we could do 2 tables of 4 (no where near one another) or come back in 25 minutes. We came back in 30 minutes and they gave us an earful for being late...not great. It took several requests to get the check. Again, couldn't tell if they were simply too busy for the staff on hand. This was our first food stop in London, and it was amazing! I had never tried Bangladeshi food before, and I'm telling you if you haven't that you definitely need to give it a go. The staff was very friendly. There was a very nice gentleman who I believe was the owner who came over and recommended some dishes for us. Everything that he recommended was delicious. I only wish I could have eaten more, but the portions were nice and filling. We only ordered a few things between the two of us and left happy and full with some take away for the next day. Really nice place, excellent price. I had eaten here once, loved it, then I came back last trip but I got there early and they were not open yet. Had to settle for another spot near Kensington station. I like this as much or more than the spots I have visited in Whitechapel. Planning on eating here many times in the future. Great! We were a party of six including 2 children. The manager was funny and friendly, helped us find the items on the menu we were looking for, and made good recommendations. Other servers also very attentive. The palak paneer and vegetable korma for the kids was a little on the sweet side but for the kids it was perfect. Jalfreezi was just the right amount of spiciness. What is it about Indian food in London? It's like crack; you can't stop eating it! On our first night in London, we found this restaurant on Trip Advisor, with good reviews and walkable distance from our hotel. We ordered the lamb madras; chicken tikki massala; saag paneer; rice and naan, which were all absolutely delicious! The servers were accommodating and helpful and we really appreciated the constant attention to our waters! ;) The only issue we did have, which fortunately was at the end of our meal, was the smoky tandoori dishes that filled the entire restaurant with smoke, which left all your clothing smoky as well. They should consider some type of ventilation system or even opening up some windows to help with the air flow. read more

Weary and hungry after having traveled all day, I wanted genuine London Indian food, so my hotel recommended the restaurant a few blocks away; Lily Tandoori. I set off in the rain, and arrived wet, cold and ravenous. I stepped into a quietly elegant, and softly lit dining room, filled with beguiling smells. By the time the fragrant, well-seasoned, mutton mossala, rice, and warm garlic naan were set before me, the evening had been magically transformed. The service was impeccable, and the host, Bruce, was charming and most welcoming. I'd little imagined what a superb dining experience Lily Tandoori would be! Followed up a few days later with a group who were all similarly impressed with their dishes. After looking for a while for an Indian restaurant in this area, we finally settled on Lily Tandoori, and never looked back. The food was impeccable, service was excellent, and prices accessible to most anyone, even on a budget. The food arrived in timely manner, and we enjoyed it to the last bite. The dining room is quiet and comfortable. Right when you walk in the door, the smell hits you in the face and urges you in. This was a wonderful dinner. The owner created our dinner based on what we liked, for us lamb and chicken with some vegetable dishes. He recommended the ale too. This was the best Indian food we had during our short stay in London. All of the sauces were rich and flavorful. The service was just as amazing.
