Sea Bass was good yet risotto was bland
    Robert H.

Food (4.4) Service (4.4) Ambiance (4.6) First visit since New owner and menu improved from what we already enjoyed. Prices are average-high but worth the money and portions are large. The calamari app was very "good" as was the tuna app. I had the panko crusted Drunken Chicken which comes over mashed potatoes and VERY fresh and delicious vegetables, Massive and VERY good! Wife had the Sea Bass which she liked, but the risotto it sat on was bland. The Burgers are massive and my son rated it "very good" but had better. See the slab of bacon on top in pic. Yes the Out of This World Mac and Cheese was delicious even if not my style... They still carry a fine wine and craft beer selection including many locals. The service was good yet they sent us away because no reservation, said over an hour wait. Left phone anyway and they called 10 min later. Water with hummus dip came quickly, yet waitress was slammed. She was very pleasant and delays were acceptable being they were packed at 7PM on weekend. Ambiance had not changed from the traditional pub style with a large happy bar. Very clean with good energy all around. Will add this back onto our regular list. Keep up the good work!

I went for a date night for the first time there and I was left truly impressed overall. The food was excellent, we ordered various wings for appetizers, I ordered a 12 oz steak entree and he ordered a cheeseburger. Everything was cooked to perfection, with the steak being cooked medium rare. I also ordered passion fruit martinis since it was a seasonal featured drink for summer and they didn't disappoint. It was delicious, refreshing and packed a punch and I had two since I wasn't driving lol. The service was exceptional as it was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Definitely worth every ounce and I plan on returning soon.

The place looks classical and historic, the people are nice and they have very good service. The food, which I tried the Wrangler Burger, is very good but, their root beer is perfect. Very good restaurant.

Pasta, 6 clams, best ever piece of cod and bread on top, all with a lemon sauce. OMG it was Soo good

I sat at the bar last week and ordered the Spring Maritime Special. I asked for bread so the Chef cut up a baguette and put it on top of the Cod. The meal of Cod, clams and pasta was Sooooo good, must have been the Captains cut as it was over an inch thick. Soooo good!! And my wife had cauliflower tacos, AGAIN, because they are so good too

We popped in here for a drink after a hike. If we didn't already have dinner reservations we would have eaten here. Some people in our group were very excited because they had Maine Lunch beer on tap. I had a cocktail which was really good. The bartner, Brittany, was so friendly, funny, and personal! We will be back.

An actual rail on the top of the wall dividing the booths from the bar. Love the historic detail!

We popped into the Iron Rail for a recent quick meal of burgers. We told the server we were trying to make a 7 pm movie at Bank Street. He was wonderful, prompt and very courteous. The food was delicious. I had a Sacramento turkey burger that was topped with Applewood smoked bacon that really enhanced the flavor. The noise level was quite low that made for easy conversation. I love the historical ambiance inside with all the train memorabilia. Overall it was a great meal that was made and served quickly. We were pleased and we made it to the movie in plenty of time!

    Thai chili wings

Loved the flavor and cook of the Thai chili wings. We did not choose a protein for our nachos as it was over $7 depending on the type of meat. While the nachos were definitely cheesy.... That's kinda all they were. Lacked the typical veggie toppings. About 5 large jalapeños, a few red onions, and a few tomatoes hidden. We were very impressed with our cranberry walnut salad! I could be wrong but I thought they were supposed to be candied walnuts but they tasted plain. We will definitely go back as we had kind and quick service!

    Delicious pumpkin pie-tini

What a nice place! We came here on a Saturday night with kids as party of 8 and luckily the restaurant was not busy so we were seated right away. I loved their fun drink menu and special cocktails. Got a yummy Pumpkin pie-tini and it was so pretty with gold laced whipped cream! It hit the spot and very strong. The food was really good too. The kiddos split a grilled cheese sandwich with fries (thick bread, not those cheapo kind), side of mashed potatoes (beware! $7 side which is a bit expensive but it was a large portion). The adults had fish & chips, drunken chicken, a chicken special, and trainwreck burger. Everything was very yummy, family friendly, will def come back again!

Usually decent, but if there are more than a few tables filled expect to wait....and wait and wait! Never an apology. Annoying

But with the Progeny at camp and the pup walked to somnolence, the Pardner and I finally had a chance to check this place out. Pros: - There's often live music -- without a cover! We saw the talented Eran Troy Danner perform. - The house-brewed beers are varied and delicious. We tried the Amarillo Sky Double IPA, Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter, and the Pirates and Parrots Island Lager, made in three very distinct styles. The Amarillo Sky reminded me of Lawson's Sip o' Sunshine, though a bit less hoppy. Pirates and Parrots would be a perfect session beer. It's fantastically refreshing in the heat. I have to wonder whether the Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter has anything to do with the excellent Sacred Grounds Coffee in Sherman, CT -- but either way, it's very tasty. - The bathrooms are clean!!! They're probably the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a drinking establishment of any kind in the US. - The staff are really nice and friendly, affirmatively helpful. - There's a nice looking food menu. It was a little early for dinner, for us, but we'd love to head back... someday when we are again sans Progeny. - There is an air conditioned indoor space one can retreat to if it's really, really hot out. But the expansive outdoor area out back is where most of the action seems to be when weather permits. Cons: - No dogs allowed - No humans allowed under 21 I am tempted to ding a star because those are big fat cons for us. But... given those delicious beers, the clean bathrooms, the great live music... I can't. This place is sweet.

Housatonic River Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in New Milford, Connecticut in September…read more2018. It was founded by brewer Dave Littlefield. With brewery experience dating back to the 1980s, Littlefield had owned and operated Harbor Lights Brewing Company in Dana Point, California during the 1990s. A couple of non-brewery jobs later, Littlefield had relocated to Connecticut and looked to open a new brewery. He purchased a 7-acre property along the banks of the Housatonic River in New Milford. In addition to brewing good beer, Littlefield's goal was to create a venue that the community would appreciate and enjoy. The brewery features a large rustic taproom, a stage for live musical acts to perform, and a large seasonal beer garden under a pavilion. In addition to the housemade beer, HRB also serves wine, cider, craft cocktails, and a large menu of delicious food from their in-house kitchen. In May 2024, Littlefield purchased the former Quirk Works Brewing & Blendery space in Danbury for HRB to use as a secondary production facility. I recently visited Housatonic River Brewing for the first time. I had heard that they host a lot of live music acts and I purchased a ticket to see NYC-based Rush tribute band "Moving Pictures". I'm a HUGE Rush fan, so I was really excited to see the group perform. I arrived over an hour before the show started and grabbed a table close to the stage. There was a modest crowd when I first arrived, but the whole taproom was packed by the time the show started. After looking over the menu, I started off with a plate of "Smoked Macaroni & Cheese" (smoked bacon jalapeño macaroni & cheese) and "Cornbread" (w/ cinnamon honey butter). Afterwards, I moved onto a "Gourmet Brisket Grilled Cheese" (three cheeses between perfectly grilled rustic sourdough toast w/ bacon & jalapeños & fries). Everything was fantastic, especially that heavenly grilled cheese! Throughout my visit, I enjoyed pours of "Uncle Bock" (Doppelbock), "Less Gentle On My Mind" (Double New England IPA), and "Remedy" (Imperial Stout). They were all good, especially the latter two. Moving Pictures also gave an excellent performance to the very energetic crowd. Overall, I had quite an enjoyable evening and I hope to return to HRB!
