    Outdoor music area.

We went for the music and stayed for the dessert. Their outdoor area is very nice. Waitstaff is attentive.

    Great Covid experience.

Salads are excellent and dressings homemade. Plus, they have my favorite Chardonnay and outside is dog friendly. It's a welcoming restaurant and the staff are all very nice - they are clearly a team who enjoy working together. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food price / quality (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is casual roadside tavern / family restaurant. A typical tavern menu at reasonable prices. I had the Riverside Burger which was excellent. The wife had the Crispy Chicken River egg roll appetizer and that was very good. We sat at the bar this visit, but typically we sit out next to the beautiful river flowing along the edge of the property. We've been here several times and have never had a bad experience.

Cute little bar/restaurant with a nice patio area. They have drink specials and draught beer, along with a decent sized menu. Food was nothing fancy but everything tasted good! We started with nachos, River Pattie's, and cheesy potato spuds. All were tasty and perfect starters. I had the chicken and sausage pasta which had good flavor to it. Prices were reasonable too. Perfect place for a laid back night out.

Old school tavern, food was ok. I was very excited to try the fish sandwich everyone was talking about but it had a very strange taste to it and left me confused. Sweet potato fries were crispy and the Staff was friendly but not very attentive but it was Ok because they seemed very busy and understaffed. Wish they had some bug repellents for their outdoor seating to make it more enjoyable. The atmosphere was a typical tavern/ bar vibe.

Absolutely perfect, I couldn't pick any other words to describe the experience I had. The staff were so kind and friendly. Environment is beautiful, very family friendly. Food was great and quick to come out. Would definitely come back if in the area!

Patio outside near the River was excellent! But don't waste your time on BBQ nothing special at all! Try anything else. Not a BBQ place

Food was ok. It is nicer to sit outside, which presents an issue in the winter. Service was good.

It was a hot day, and while they have a really nice outdoor seating area, we were more than happy to head inside and cool off. Sara immediately welcomed us with water and shared a little about the menu. I loved seeing that much of the draft beer selection featured local microbreweries... so naturally, I dove right in! The food was creative, fresh and full of flavor. We shared the mushroom potstickers, broccoli Caesar salad and a fresh local tomato soup that was so good we honestly could have ordered another. The service was spot-on, the modern-kitsch atmosphere was fun and inviting, and Sara really added to the experience. We loved our lunch at Sparrow and enjoyed everything so much that we're already planning to come back and work our way through more of the menu.

We weren't sure if it was us or the serving sizes, so didn't yelp. After good feedback from a few locals (Jane D!) we decided to try again and this time added on 2 apps for the 4 of us, and boy those apps were good. The Street Corn Nachos were very good, just a tad burned around the outside, as often the case with nachos, so no biggie. The KFC Bao was very good, extremely flavorful as reported by others, must try! I had the Chicken Milanese which I enjoyed a lot. Very flavorful yet just a tad salty, from a guy who loves salt, from what others tell me... Nice size serving. My buddy and son had the smashburger which looked great, they loved the burger and I tried the fries which were superb but came out a bit cold. Picky son said the bun was "ordinary". He knows his breads... Wife had the Curry Shrimp which she enjoyed very much. Nice tap beer selection and a very full bar menu and warm looking bar and clientele. Service was a bit off. Pleasant yet didn't pay enough attention. Help Served apps without plates and server took way too long to notice and fix. She was very nice, maybe a bit overloaded. We sat outside this time because the music inside was a bit too loud for us to chat comfortably. Inside is relaxed seating mostly overlooking a nice bar, fine for any occasion, not at all formal, so any attire would be fine. Very clean, including the well appointed/decorated genderless bathrooms. All of us left very satisfied and prices were fair, as expected. We found the experience very satisfying and portions were just fine. Heard the desserts are great, will try next time! We will return!

I don't understand a lot of the negative reviews here. On a rainy stormy night we drove about 1/2…read morehour from Kent to visit this place that I had heard so much about, and the food did not disappoint. They have mint juleps at the bar, very nice! We split a caesar salad for an app, plenty for both of us, and perfectly dressed and crisp (despite some other reviewer whining about it being "bland"). For entrees, I'm not normally a meat loaf lover, but was intrigued by the inclusion of black truffle oil and marsala sauce and so ordered it. It was rather outrageously good, the accompanying summer veggies very flavorful. Partner had the seafood pot pie, very yummy except for the inclusion of fennel, which I personally do not care for. He loved it although the broth/gravy was a little thin for his taste. He plans to thicken it up a bit when he tackles the leftovers. My Cotes du Rhone wine with meal was delicious, but came in a smallish glass; could have benefited from a larger pour and a larger glass to expand the aroma. For dessert, which we don't always order, we had some sort of perfectly decadent chocolate lava type cake with just the right amount of ice cream. Way better than any lava cake I ever had! The accompanying coffee, even my decaf, was stellar. We sat in the room opposite the bar, at the windows next to the tumbling brook outside. Very nice atmosphere. The only mistep I would say was that when we called at 7.30 to make reso's, the gal on the phone stressed that the "kitchen closes at 8:00" and that we would have to order right away. We said okay no problem but were a tad worried about being rushed. She hung up before I could give my name and number in party. When we arrived, about 10 minutes to 8, the hostess who had answered the phone seemed confused and asked us if we were the ones who had called to see "if they were open". I said, well, we called for reservations, but you hung up before I could give my name. Despite this initial unwelcome-vibe weirdness, our waitress, Fiona, made us feel perfectly welcome and not rushed. Although she too did come to tell us, about 15 minutes in, that "the kitchen was closing" but we had already ordered and desserts weren't an issue. Something must have happened with a customer to make them gun-shy about this. In a nutshell, don't show up inside of an hour of the posted closing time if you want to be sure about getting served. And BTW the closing times on Google are incorrect; they are only open until 10 on Fridays and Saturdays, not every day. Although it's a long drive from where we actually live, we definitely plan to come back in winter to sit next to the cozy fireplace and sample the famous chicken pot pie and shepherd's pie croquettes. My partner absolutely loved this place, and he's quite picky.

The buns were hard and stale. my partner ordered medium-rare, but it came out bone dry, almost white throughout. Crumbly meat. The server never asked if the nearly untouched plate was okay, just dropped the check. It was overpriced and utterly disappointing. To top it all off, I was confined to the bathroom shortly thereafter. Don't have solid proof this place was the culprit.... But I don't have solid anything else either Update: my partner has food poisoning too. Do not come here. The lovely location is not a good enough excuse to ruin your night.
