The 202 Tavern has a whole menu page devoted to BBQ, which must be their specialty. The parking lot is pretty big and does seem to dip into the back for insanely busy times. There is seating indoors with a bar, and outdoors with a pretty solid looking roof. More people seemed to gravitate outside. The potato appetizer was cheesy, but a bit lemony in the sour cream. The New England Clam Chowder was a thicker broth and full of ingredients. It wasn't spicy as you seem to find more and more, but a more comforting taste. This was a go to place for the wife and myself. Last week we went with my wife's daughter to celebrate her 40th birthday. We picked a table inside as the outdoor tables were busy. Our server was slow, the drinks were watered down, my wife's salmon was small and dried out while my NY strip was mostly gristle. ​ I'm not sure what happened but the service and food quality seems to have gone into the toilet. For the amount of money spent. It was a major disappointment. I would have complained at the time but my wife did not want to embarrass her daughter. For the money spent I'll take it as a lesson we'll learned and will NOT be returning. I will also reach out to all I told about this establishment and warn them off. My wife ordered Father's Day dinner to go over the phone, they said they weren't set up to take credit cards over the phone, so my son would have to pay on his way home from work when he got there. When he got there they said they never received our order and no one took responsibility. Their packaging is sub par. The owner is a train wreck as well. Never any compensation for mistakes. The wife had the Crispy Chicken River egg roll appetizer and that was very good. We sat at the bar this visit, but typically we sit out next to the beautiful river flowing along the edge of the property. Cute little bar/restaurant with a nice patio area. They have drink specials and draught beer, along with a decent sized menu. Food was nothing fancy but everything tasted good! Old school tavern, food was ok. I was very excited to try the fish sandwich everyone was talking about but it had a very strange taste to it and left me confused. I had passed the Tavern many times when driving through town and finally got to stop in for lunch. It is an unassuming looking place, which often has lots of cars parked there and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very clean, there is a cool bar, lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a large covered outdoor space as well. The server was very friendly and helpful. We had two chicken club salads with ranch and I have to say these were the so delicious. I never expect a salad to taste that good. The chicken was warm and very juicy, the salad very flavorful and the ranch dressing tasted homemade. We look forward to coming back for dinner including wings! read more

okay, 2nd time here. Three of us... me my wife and an old friend. Waitress pleasant and attentive. Food, drink orders timely. My wife and I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwiches, burgers with sides... my friend didn't care much for the fish and chips... oh well he liked the fries and cole slaw. The reason we will likely not ever return is this: We arrived around 2:00PM. Since the restaurant is small and filled up, we chose to sit in booth at bar side. Couple of guys chugging beers are joined by a male/female couple. For the next hour or so, we hear repeated use of  F bombs and references to womens' anatomies. My wife accounted for at least 50 times, but I'm sure it was more. I'm not a prude, nor are we pure, but if this is the bar scene you want, then advertise it as such. You're not a family place and I don't plan to revisit. Really, you want the drunks to start in at noon? Seriously, I am Board Chair of a private social club that would have kicked out this element much sooner. Apparently you need the money to survive? We had a very good meal from appetizers to dessert at this lovely tavern. They have a large patio area and the inside dining room and bar are nicely decorated and very clean. We were a party of four and we ate items from wings and beer battered shrimp to pasta and steak. I personally had the prime rib sandwich and the meat was seasoned perfectly.... Popped in here on a trip to Connecticut for some lunch. It's definitely a very casual spot- the outside seating is nice because you can eat with a view of the river that flows right beside the restaurant. The outside has more picnic tables and even has a few games to play- corn hole and volleyball. The food was pretty good- it's more like bar food. The sandwiches and the burger that our party ordered were good. Someone ordered the roast chicken and was not pleased with it. It was somewhat bland looking. The split pea soup was definitely worth trying on a chilly day. If you're in the area it's definitely not a bad place to stop by for some lunch, just keep in mind the atmosphere and food resembles that of a casual bar. read more

Visited this place with a friend on 06/01 and LOVED it. Due to COVID we had to sit outside - which with how pretty it was, we would have done anyways. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly. We ordered our food - I went with the Tavern Blazing Onion Burger minus the bacon and it was great! I also ordered a house salad as a side which was sooo good. The prices were fair and wait time was short. There was only one other customer there when we arrived, but by the time we finished our food it had filled up pretty nicely. will never go here again. our vehicle was damaged while we had dinner, tailgate was stolen right off our truck. waitress knew the people and wouldn't cooperate, faced obstruction charges, deleted video and refused to supply credit card receipts, said "everyone paid cash that night". owner pretended to not speak English. state trooper said it wasn't the first time they have been there, and we are out $900 in damages. waitress warned her friends of possible larceny charges and the tailgate mysteriously appeared overnight. owner was able to call trooper and tell her the tailgate was returned after claiming he didn't speak English. will never go here again, beware. We came on Labor Day Weekend and loved the service, food, and drinks. Nichole was our server and she was awesome. We have been here 3 times in the last 5 weeks since we were in the area. The outside dining is pretty cool with picnic tables including those that are "riverside". However, this place is extremely inconsistent and it depends on the night you go. For the times we went on a Sunday night service was good and food was excellent. This last time we visited was on a Saturday and service wasn't so good to the point where I felt we were being ignored (had to ask for silverware multiple times). Also, there was a sign about the best burger in the state which I think was true last time we were here but not the most recent. Prime rib was good the last time we were here but not excellent. Next time chances are good we will keep driving but this will be a place we keep in our back pocket in case of emergency. read more

Great meal and service. Believe Lindsay was our server and she was very sweet and courteous. Mushroom burger was delectable, cooked to perfection and generous in size (half pound). Fried chicken wasn't what we expected (more of a cutlet than traditional pieces) but was tasty nevertheless. Giving 4 stars really to reflect limited vegetarian options (for our kids). Glad to see a veggie burger but a few heartier vegetable-based meals would be welcome. Even the chili in the nachos is meat-based so offering a veggie chili option is a great start. read more
