Pretty decent food, but service was definitely sub-par. The entire experience took 3 hours which is a pretty ridiculous. The establishment is very small, so it makes sense that it takes a while to get a table. But, it took about 20 minutes for someone to even come take our order, and even then they only came because we flagged them down. Then, a ton of to-go orders were taking priority over the people inside. It took about 2 hours to get our food after we were seated. No shade I get they're doing their best. The only thing that really made our party angry was the fact that it seemed like they were churning out to go orders and not serving the people in the restaurant in a timely manner. read more

The service is excellent, unfortunately the food was literally inedible. Pancakes are not supposed to crunch when you break them with a fork. They were crispy, crunchy, overcooked and tasted like paste. I sent them back and overheard the kitchen staff state that they were fine the customer just didn't like them. Please TASTE the food you're serving, I can assure you, it's not fine, it's beyond nasty. Here's a tip, when cooking pancakes they should only be flipped one time. You pour the batter in 1 spot only and it will evenly spread, wait until it bubbles all-over the surface, then flip it. That's it! When you flip it over and over, it removes the light fluffiness and turns it into a crispy taco shell, like the ones you served me. Also, on over easy eggs, the egg yolk is supposed to be runny the whites are not. read more

Really friendly and welcoming place. My wife ordered the veggie omelet, my son ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs and Cajun sausage, while I had the blueberry pancakes. We all enjoyed our meals. I can't speak for the other orders but the blueberry pancakes were excellent and made with fresh blueberries. Ok so the positive! The staff is friendly and if you like a mild taste to yr coffee this is the place! Things to work on add some vegan options and doing a better job with cooking the food. The pancakes are not good kinda doughy....the potatoes have absolutely no flavor, just boiled potatoes....my omelette was runny so I didn't even eat it. . POOR SERVICE: waited too long for order to be taken, three other tables were waited on before us, no coffee brought before ordering, or after it was ordered. BEST OF ALL ( not really ) we wound up getting our own food from the kitchen window, so we could eat hot food, while the servers, talked at the counter with whoever. eventually got his coffee, he had to ask for a refill by going up to the counter.. had to go get her own catch-up too, so we were kind of left on our own. I ordered an omelette and asked if the cook could please cook the green peppers a little before putting them in the omelette as the last 3 times I was there the peppers were raw, not a little raw but crunchy raw. 8 minutes later the server tells me the cook said that's how they serve them and will not cook them a little. what? really?? I have Airbnbs in Boyne Falls and have hundreds of guest throughout the year and I have always recommended Betty's and even have their menu's in my houses. We were looking for a breakfast place close to Boyne Resorts and didn't want to go to Everett's again. So we Yelp'd breakfast and this was the closest one available. I got the banana pancakes, the American fries, and some bacon. Pancakes were incredible. Fries were super saturated with oil and salt (which you'd probably think is a bad thing, it wasn't), and the bacon was crispy and good. The only issue I had was the fact that it's cash only: come on, man - are processing fees stopping you from joining the rest of society? Raise your prices if you have to and join up! Also, if you have more than a party of four, you might consider looking elsewhere. The space is a wee bit cramped, has only 4-seat tables, and doesn't look good for large parties. Great little local restaurant with a delicious home cooked breakfast! We had a group of 7 and were sat right away at 2 tables next to each other (they can't combine tables). Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Coffee and water cups were never empty. Our food was delicious, it tasted like how my Grandma cooks! Cinnamon rolls are huge, get one to share! I don't watch the Food Network, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this featured on one of the "don't miss these great little spot" shows. With only a dozen or so tables, and an outside appearance that makes you recall the banjo-twanging scene from Deliverance, you'd think you'd be scared to eat here. Don't be! For breakfast you have to (HAVE TO) try at least one pancake. They're the size of a plate and I can only eat one, my husband loads up on all three. Add perfect bacon or sausage and that's it - ready for a nap. Coffee lover? I'm sure it's not a special blend, but somehow they make "Diner coffee" just as you'd imagine a perfect cup would be. Closer to noon? Burger or Monte Cristo, or Patty Melt. You won't regret totally blowing your diet. Be sure to note how all of the food is serve quickly, and at the perfect temperature. This family-run-for-generations place has the whole service thing down. If you go on a Sunday morning be prepared for a wait in the hallway or out the door - but it's normally a short wait due to the efficiency here. It's a small 8 table cafe that just serves that basics, but they are fast and the food is good...and really cheap. A really cool view of Boyne Mountain to the west makes the five dollar breakfast a really cool steal when you visit northen michigan.
