Solid four star option, I stayed here as part of the Amex Fine Hotels and resorts. The included breakfast was a good value and the room itself was well equipped with excellent views. Just a minor detail I wish the vents in my room were cleaned and the shower pressure was better, just a bit of detail work could make this hotel shine. The bed was comfortable and so was the couch in my room. Has an apartment feel. Overall, I would stay here again especially through the Amex program. read more

Decided to do a staycation here to utilize my AMEX FHR credit. Was able to check in around 1pm. Complimentary cookies. No upgrade given, but room was clean, spacious in the Signature 2 Queen with a seating area. I wished the mini fridge had more space. No tub. Filtered water station on every floor. Beds were a bit too soft for my liking. Although we had a smart TV, the internet connection didn't work, which was disappointing. Also, there is no way to view your folio on the app or TV, which was surprising. FHR provides $60 breakfast credit and $100 hotel credit that can be applied to food as well as parking, and 4pm checkout . Walkable to Ferry building and Transamerica building. Quiet on weekends in the area due to being in FiDi, which was nice. Pro Tip: if you are driving, skip the $80 and park at 1 Embarcadero next door ($45/24h) Overall, a nice small property in a quiet, safe area. read more

Editing my review to reflect their shady business, lack of customer support and them ignoring my persistent requests to fix the problem. Originally I was charged for $189 on February 26. I called asking why I had this charge and someone in the billing department reported that they didn't see a charge on their end. I was told to "wait for the charge to sort itself out and it should go away". IT DIDN'T but the charge was changed to a $186 charge after a week. WEIRD!! Then after more time, it was changed to a $182 charge. WHY??! I called back March 10 and spoke with billing department again, someone was finally able to see the charge and said it was for 2 nights of overnight parking. I let her know it was only 1 night and she said it would be changed. IT WASN'T and I waited another week. I called back again for a THIRD time and they wouldn't answer my call. I left a voicemail a week ago demanding a call back and a full refund and still have not heard back. It is now March 23 and my issues has not been resolved. Came here for an impromptu weekend trip with my boyfriend. We were impressed with the location of the hotel as it was nearby things we were wanting to go to (Bar Sprezzatura, Ferry Building, Kokkari, etc). We opted not to do valet as it was fairly easy to find street parking that was free on the Sunday we were there which was perfect and a lot cheaper. The room itself really impressed both of us. It felt extremely homey and luxurious for the city. The bed and furniture were all very comfortable. We loved the many options for lighting in the room and it helped build up the ambiance. There were two issues we had with this hotel. The biggest issue we had with this place was our room was right off the elevators and we could hear them running all night. Our sleep was maybe slightly disrupted, but if you were a heavy sleeper, it shouldn't be an issue. The other issue I had was that they don't provide complementary waters in the room. I understand, even as I live in California that we are trying to conserve water, but this time we forgot our water bottles at home. While they do have water stations on the floor that we were staying on, it would've been nice to have had a complementary bottle that we could've refilled ourselves as well. read more

Pretty hotel in a convenient location of San Francisco. It's in financial district and you can easily walk up to Chinatown or walk down to the Embarcadero. I checked in at 12pm and there was a room available for me on the 10th floor. The room was very clean and nicely organized. They have a water station outside my room with a pitcher provided to fill up water. The drinks at the bar were memorable and unique. Wow! This place is fancy! 5/5!!! We had a party to attend on Pier 27 and wanted to spend the night in the city. This was a better option than the Hyatt nearby and the Jay is much more updated. You walk into the lobby and there is a beautiful lounge seating and a spiral staircase leading to an event space with a bar. Another company had rented the event space for a holiday party, so we didn't get to see it, but it looked well decorated and lovely. To get to the check in desk, you follow a corridor to the right and take the elevator to the third floor. The people welcoming you were so kind and there were clean bathrooms right behind the desk. Across from the check in desk was a coffee bar and a restaurant. I agree with everyone else on here that the coffee bar closed too soon at 10:30am. We were hoping to get a coffee to-go and missed it by a few minutes. Such a bummer. The room was gorgeous! A spacious closet, good sized closet, and a beautiful view. We got to see the Transamerica building from the room including the bay and pier 27. The bed was so comfortable and they had great choices of pillows. They had a hard option and a softer option. I loved that they provided that for the guests! They also supply shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. They smelled good and were great quality. Down the hallway was an ice machine and a water dispenser to refill your bottles. So grateful for those little details as I dislike carrying around more than one water bottle. They had a fitness center and it was labeled in the elevator so you didn't have to research the floor. Thank you for the lovely night! read more

We enjoyed our stay at the Jay! The location is excellent, especially for those who want to explore the city (In the financial district, close to the piers, North Beach, and Chinatown). Check-in was easy, but it is not on the ground floor, so guests would have to take the elevator to check in. The rooms are pretty spacious, and we even got a view of the bridge! Room service was available for breakfast and throughout the day - we checked in around 2pm and were able to order room service. Stayed Friday-Monday. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, and touches like filtered water stations on every floor and Fellow Stagg kettles in-room are great additions. However, the bathroom experience was disappointing: very low shower water pressure and a long delay before temperature changes took effect after adjusting the handle. Operationally, service fell short of a 4‑star standard. After reporting the shower issues, I was told engineering would look into it, but I never received any follow‑up. Early‑morning elevator maintenance noise for over an hour came through the walls and woke us; again, no response to messages or calls until I went down to the desk in person. The manager, Tim, eventually offered 20,000 points, which I appreciated. At checkout, when I mentioned the stay was just okay for a 4‑star, the front desk agent shrugged and said, "yeah that's how the elevator is," which was disappointing. Like it's something I'm supposed to just deal with? Bottom line: The physical hotel and rooms are nice, but operations and staff responsiveness need a tune‑up for the price point. This is a good location, being in FiDI. Close enough to walk to Chinatown, Little Italy, and even Union Square (about 15ish mins). Formerly Le Meridian hotel (some evident markings remain, found one on the hotel phone of all places). Overall I like this hotel, it is a "boutique" hotel (under the Marriott chain), and the location is fairly quiet and safe. Mostly business travelers and some families during the week and the area is less populated and less noisy during weekends since it's the financial district. Honestly I wanted to gate keep this hotel, but I think it's only fair to share it so everyone can discover it and enjoy it. It feels fairly safe and clean around this property. I'm used to going to SF, and then going home, since I'm roughly an hour south of SF. But this is currently my preferred place to stay overnight while in SF. read more

They also offer free laundering for 3 pieces of gym clothes each day, which is such a nice perk. My clothes were picked up around 9 am. They were delivered back to my room by 4 pm clean and folded. I had an amazing five night stay at The Jay. I splurged on the valet service, which is a little steep even for SF, but the in and out privileges made things convenient; I'd recommend it if you are planning on coming back to the hotel to rest and freshen up before heading out again. Otherwise, there's a garage across the street. As soon as I arrived I was given a warm welcome, and the staff helped me with luggage and settling in, so everything went off without a hitch. I only have vague memories of staying at Le Meridian, but the renovated Jay is much superior. My room felt new and was very clean and tidy; I loved the modern decor and the natural wood accents, which actually made the room look/feel a lot like my house. One of the better fitness centers I've seen, too. It could really use a barbell and plates for bench press, but there were dumbbells (which only went up to 50lbs, but eh, good enough). There's a bowl of apples that I appreciated! Being open 24 hours was also nice, since your schedule isn't going to be very regular when you're traveling. I'm going to give four stars just because of one little thing-- There's no microwave anywhere! I don't necessarily expect one in the room (though this isn't even uncommon), but a communal one would have been nice. I had a ton of leftovers over the course of a five night stay! read more

I have stayed at many hotels in San Francisco. Compared to other marriot hotels in SF that I've stayed at such as the The W and the JW Marriot, this ONE IS THE ABSULOTE BEST HOTEL. I think it may be in fact my new favorite hotel besides the Four Seasons. The hotel is 8 months old and the hotel felt new. From valet to check in, everything including the service I recieved was exceptional. Since it was my birthday they upgrade me from a standard king room with city view to an executive king with bay view and that room was incredible!!!!! It made my birthday extra special and it made me so happy to just be in the room. The interior design was amazing. I couldn't get over how NICE the room was. Considering it is SF, the room was very spacious. The glass windows were a nice touch and the view was incredible. Overall for the $230 I paid for the night, WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. I think I may have found my new go to hotel in SF. The bar was awesome. It was busy for a Friday but that was expected. We sat at the bar where we found Port wine on the wine menu, it made my night. We took up a couple glasses of wine up to our room where we enjoyed the view and my birthday the rest of the evening. Valet will cost you $90, which is very price but that's SF for you. There are other parking garages within blocks for $38-$48 bucks so just a FYI if your looking to save some money. A BIG THANK YOU to the Jay for the hospitality. Can't wait to come stay here again. I'm a true fan of this Autogrpah Collection hotel. 10/10 if you ask me, come stay here if you haven't already. read more

A Pleasant Surprise at The Jay - Even for a Business Trip! I recently had a quick one-night business trip to San Francisco and opted for The Jay Hotel. I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by my stay, especially by the little things that often go overlooked in today's hospitality landscape. Despite the hotel being incredibly busy, the front desk staff member on duty was a marvel of efficiency, speed, and genuine pleasantness. It's rare to see such smooth operation with a high volume of guests, and they handled it flawlessly. The only miss was my Titanium Bonvoy status was not recognized. A nice feel good, but certainly not something which would ruin a stay. My room was another highlight. It was spacious, boasting a separate seating area and a modern, residential feel. What truly made it feel like a home away from home was the thoughtful placement of numerous lamps and lights, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The bathroom was equally impressive - well-appointed with plenty of on-demand hot water, a true luxury. Breakfast the next morning, despite the restaurant being bustling, was handled with grace. The host remained calm and collected, even stepping in to help minimize wait times, which was greatly appreciated. Now, for a few minor quibbles, which are more my personal pet peeves than significant issues with the hotel itself: * The Room Service Hamburger: As a firm believer in the simple, perfect burger, I was a bit disappointed. The Jay's room service burger fell into the "too cheap" category, using what tasted like a less-than-fresh, preformed, and tasteless patty. Knew I should have opted for the salad. * Restaurant Hours: If a coffee shop advertises a 6 AM opening (or whatever time), I expect to be able to get coffee at 6 AM. Not to see staff just starting to arrive a few minutes before. It's a small detail but can be frustrating for early risers which many east coasters are in SFO. * Mini-Bar Pricing: While I understand mini-bars come with a markup, nearly $20 for a small pack of M&Ms after taxes is truly excessive. There's a fine line between convenience pricing and highway robbery. Guess I should say thank you. Didn't need the extra calories anyway. Despite these minor points, I thoroughly enjoyed my quick stay at The Jay. The mostly exceptional service, comfortable and well-designed rooms, location, and overall efficient operations truly made a positive impression. Short Review: A nice, clean, safe place to crash in the City. Near the financial district and wharfs, so no (or very little) homelessness and graffiti and trash. Rooms are great and a nice size. Food/drinks at the bar are on point too. Long Review: I'd never tried this hotel while in SF and needed a nice, clean, quiet, safe place to crash for the night. The Jay does not disappoint. Large, upscale rooms. Great food for in-room service or at their restaurant (two separate menus), views of the ocean, a covered outdoor patio with several fire pits, and awesome, friendly staff. It's also in a part of town not overrun by the unhoused. I don't wanna judge or anything, but I just don't feel safe sometimes walking back to my hotel from dinner. You don't get that here. It's also close to the wharfs, Chinatown, and Pac Heights. I'd stay here again for sure. read more

It can be on the pricey side depending of the time of month, but you know how it is -- you get what you pay for. There's a fun pier 1 marketplace and there's so much good food around the jay. It was very clean around the hotel too. I know people come to San Francisco to explore but the fitness room was, by far, the best I've ever seen in a hotel. Parking is pretty steep- $75 for a one night stay but we stayed 12 until 4 the next day and it covered that whole time. read more

I chose to stay at The Jay Hotel because it is a new Marriott Autograph property that opened in November 2023. Formerly the Le Meridien, it features 360 guest rooms and is located directly across from the Embarcadero Center. The hotel's interior was reimagined with warm and luxurious touches. Our guestroom on the 22nd floor featured angled floor-to-ceiling windows that provided lots of natural lighting, plus a view of the Bay and downtown skyline. The mattress in our bed was obviously a premium brand. However, the pillows left a lot to be desired, one was rock hard, while the other was half as hard. A bad pillow makes it hard to get a great night's sleep. The room was spacious, clean and everything worked, as expected. Probably my biggest disappointment was the lack of recognition of my Bonvoy status. No discussion of a room upgrade and no thank you for being a lifetime Titanium member. The hotel doesn't have a lounge for Bonvoy guest usage. They will provide you with a voucher for continental breakfast, but you have to order that thru room service. I would have preferred the option to dine in their restaurant. The Third Floor restaurant and lounge are new and operated by the Omakase Restaurant Group. The menu is described as a California slant on Asian flavors. The outdoor lounge is spacious and features heaters and firepits for cool evenings. read more

As a Marriott elite, I've been wanting to try this property for a very long time. I believe it used to be perhaps a park Hyatt at some point. Stunning common areas, and the room was even better. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a junior suite which helped since we were a party of three. The room was very spacious and well appointed. It had pretty much everything you could want or need in a room including large vanity space. The beds were also very comfortable. We actually like this location more than the union Square area even though we are partial to the Westin Saint Francis. This was just a few minutes walk from the ferry building and you can catch public transportation as well. There's quite a few restaurants in the area as well but it's also very walkable to other points of interest such as North Beach/Little Italy and Chinatown. It doesn't feel as congested as some of the other areas in the city. Front desk was exceptionally nice. We did out for a late dinner on one of our evenings. We ordered the burger and This Wagyu brownie dessert that might be one of the best things I've ever tasted in my life. Cocktails were also delicious. I would absolutely return in the future and book here. Average price for the rooms in May were around $350 plus. We did not opt for the elite breakfast benefits as I've heard it wasn't the greatest and it was pretty much continental which is a little bit disappointing. This is my first time to book an autograph collection hotel which is elevated experience. From the first contact people in the lobby of hotel where we ask to temporarily park for unloading our luggage and check in the 3rd floor reception desk all of them are very friendly and helpful. As you walk in the lobby, they have this comfy sofa seating area then you head up to elevator to check in the reception area 3rd floor this is where the bar and restaurant is located. We're warmly welcome by Tecla. She make sure we got the best room available for our Marriott BonVoy benefit. We got a well appointed room upgrade with seating area and a beautiful view of San Francisco golden bridge is a nice touch. We love the cute hot water kettle which is very useful. You have enough supply of lotion, shampoo, body & hand wash for the duration of your stay. I love their bed super cloud like as I slept like a baby. The ambient lighting throughout the room especially in the side of the bed frame is a great help be because it is motion sensor. The bathroom light is also adjustable. They also have a hair dryer which is Dyson like and a very useful steamer to freshen your clothes. We also enjoyed their huge smart TV. I love their shower floor stone tile not slippery and the shower head. My only issue is no bath tub which would have been a relaxing retreat from an outdoor city adventure. It has two luggage stand and two bath robes. All floors are equipped with filtered water dispenser which is great for all guest. We really had a great time with our Jay experience and couldn't get enough of this amazing city, that's why I left my heart in SFO! read more

That said, I am impressed by how clean and nice the room I have is. I heard this is a newly renovated hotel and it shows. Everything is nice, modern, clean, and crisp. I like how big the room is with the couch on the side, which I enjoyed lounging on -nice and firm. The bathroom was modern, and I love the showerhead in the bathroom. I was sad the bathroom didn't have a tub but for a standing shower, it's great. The lights on the headboard and the reading lights were a very nice touch. Our room was amazing! Beautiful floor to ceiling windows, view of the city and bay, and we even were able to see the fireworks on July 4th which we didn't expect! Very clean, fully stocked fridge, and nice bathroom and shower. They assembled the crib for us and it was ready in our room when we checked in. Each staff member we interacted with was so kind and helpful. The only thing I would have asked for differently was it seemed impossible to find milk for our toddler! I had a fantastic 3 night stay. I was able to check in 3 hours early and I was super grateful after traveling! The rooms are upgraded & very clean. The bay view rooms are spectacular. Every room feels like a corner suite since the corner of the room juts out the side of the building. I was obsessed with the boucle couch! The desk area was great for after hours work. Room service was a bit slow but the hotel had a high capacity. The duck soup from the 3rd floor bar area was mid tier. Coffee service was slow in the morning so arrive early! What a beautiful hotel! I stayed here for a weekday evening with my husband when we were both working in the city during the week. It's conveniently located near the Embarcadero and many companies in the financial district so it was easy for both of us to walk to our offices the next morning. The room itself was beautiful, clean, and spacious with 2 beds, a desk area, and a good sized bathroom. The floor to ceiling windows made for a really nice sunrise in the morning, but they do have curtains if you'd prefer to sleep in. The beds were pretty comfortable too and they gave ample pillows, though the "queens" felt more like full size beds. I appreciated the amenities they offer in-room too. There's a HUGE TV, though we didn't get to watch so much. I thought it was really cool that they had a kettle (of the Fellow brand too, okaaaay $$$) with packs of steeped coffee bags. Much cleaner than the mini coffee makers that usually come in hotel rooms. I loved that they had lots of "small" lights: reading lights by each bedside, a lamp in the middle of the two beds, plus multiple lamps throughout the room. They also have a couple of robes available for your use. The whole design of the hotel is so sleek and so my vibe. The wood accents (and hotel key!), the black decor and soaps/amenities/etc, the white tile and sheets - everything was so luxurious. It's not a cheap hotel and the valet isn't either. We only parked our car there for one night and spent $82. I think they might have a stay + valet package that I would recommend looking into if you plan on parking there for awhile. The former Le Meridien underwent a remodel and a rebranding and is now "The Jay". Back in the day, Le Meridien had a lobby on the ground level and I find it incredibly awkward to go up to the third floor just to check in. Le Meridien also had free coffee and tea for guests on the third floor, but now it's the hotel restaurant and bar and nothing is offered for free. Le Meridien charged $65 for overnight valet parking. The Jay? $80! We thought the noisy elevators were an artifact of the construction, but they are absolutely as rickety as back then. That being said, the newly remodeled rooms are gorgeous - they did a nice job for sure. The hotel is in a decent location - 5 min walk to California St, 10 min walk to the Ferry Building, 3 mins to Transamerica, 10-15 min to Chinatown, etc. A very good and reasonably safe location in SF. Pro tips: - Do not park your car with the hotel - use the 1 Embarcadero Center underground parking garage (entrance on Front St, between Sacramento and Clay), which is about $45 per 24-hour period (vs. $80 at the hotel). - Ask for a room AWAY from the elevators - these are the loudest elevators in Northern California and light sleepers will be absolutely fuming - There are water refill stations on every floor - great for filling your personal bottles or the reusable metal bottles provided by the hotel.
