Got a dozen donuts and 2 dozen donut holes. Wanted 6 glaze and 6 chocolate. They put in some chocolate sprinkle ones which I didn't ask for or want. So make sure you open your donut box and check you got the right ones. Taste: A bit pricey and the sizes are small but the taste is amazing, except the chocolate sprinkle ones which no one wanted. This is our go-to establishment for donuts. We go every few weeks - when we have friends over for brunch, when we want to celebrate a good soccer game, or just because on some days there is nothing better for the soul than sinking one's teeth into a perfect donut! The missus prefers their crullers and maple donuts, our younger one anything with sprinkles on it, our older one the chocolate eclairs, and I go for the jelly-filled ones - the gooier and drippier the better! Since I knew I would be in the area, I scoped this place out for its rave reviews and got one dozen with half normal and half of their fancy donuts including plain glazed, sprinkle donuts, sugar coated, custard-filled, cinnamon roll, apple fritter, and jelly-filled varieties. The filled donuts had a minimal amount of filling and the dough for all of them except for the cinnamon roll (maybe because it had a lot of glaze) was pretty dry. I have been searching far and wide for a Cherry icing donut in the Bay Area. Not cherry-filled, but cherry iced. Countless donut shop owners are either curt or give me the stink eye when I see they have strawberry icing donuts and I ask if they do cherry icing because it's so hard to find. And unless I'm out of my mind, I don't believe that cherry and strawberry are too far off from each other. I never thought there could be a bad pizza or bad donut. It's more that it's just not the BEST you've ever had. And that's the case with my experience at The Jelly Donut. I've had this bookmarked on my list cuz of its high 4.5 star rating. I got my typical fave, glazed twist and an Apple fritter. I could taste the oil and fried-ness of the donuts and personally that's not my preferred taste when eating my donuts. I like a light yet thick fluffy doughnut. Later I tried the Apple fritter and again could taste the oil and fried batter. There wasn't much cinnamon or apples inside. I did end up throwing the rest away because I had to cut my losses of calories vs enjoyment. From the wise words of my bf - "Was the juice worth the bite?" Doughnut have to be made a certain way for me to enjoy them! These do not disappoint I enjoyed these donuts twice while I was in Dublin and both times I thought they were super delicious. For me if you doughnut is cooked and I can taste the grease on the top of my mouth that classifies it as disgusting. These were perfectly cooked myself and my classmates enjoyed them. Every two years, I have to recertify my Advanced First Aid and CPR credentials. This means I stress over performing essentially the same skills I've certified for over the last 37 years. What better way to relieve my anxiety than to bring some donuts into class? On my way in, I checked Yelp to see who made decent donuts in the Pleasanton/Dublin area. The Jelly Donut seems to have its shares of fans and positive ratings so that's where I went. Two people working the front counter and at least one more frying more donuts in the back. The two worked efficiently and independently. There was a small but constant line of customers waiting to order or pick-up an order. I ordered 1-1/2 dozen assorted with 6 Jelly's and the rest assorted. I guess I haven't bought donuts in awhile because I was surprised to see that plain cake donuts were $16 a dozen. My 18 cost $34 plus the tip I put in the tip jar. The donuts were very fresh and flavorul. I had 1/2 Cruller and 1/2 Jelly Donut. Both were pillowy and delicious. I ended up with powdered sugar all over my dark blue t-shirt and a bit of a sugar rush that helped me plow through the day. The only disappointment is one that comes from greed. What?
