We walked in for dinner, and the restaurant was clean, which was what we liked. We were greeted by the friendly and inviting staff member, Kira, as we walked through the door. We arrived at 7:40 PM, and the manager, Joseph, told us the restaurant would close in 10 minutes. I said that's OK. We'll order the food and eat as much as we can there until we have to leave, and then we will leave by the time we are asked to leave. My boyfriend, Jeff, thought the restaurant was open until 8 PM, so he checked the website. It said the location was open till 8 PM, so he walked outside to check the time on the door, and it read 8 PM. There were no other signs that said they were closing at 7:50 PM. Jeff called somebody to complain about the time discrepancy while we were waiting for our order to arrive. When our order arrived, Kira brought our food to the table in a really cute to-go bag, and I like that she listened to us that we would eat as much food as we could while we were at the restaurant and then take the rest to eat at home when it came closer to 8 PM. Our food was ready pretty quickly; we had plenty of time to finish our food before 8 PM. However, I think Jeff just wanted the manager to be upfront with him and say that the store was closing at 8 PM, so it's better to take your food to go or something like that, not make up an arbitrary time to say what time the restaurant was closed. I'm rating this Koja kitchen location four stars mainly because of the outstanding customer service provided by Kira. She was incredibly friendly and approachable, making the experience very pleasant. I wish more customer service representatives could be as kind and easy to talk to as she is. read more

Braised Pork Koja - I know this is their specialty, and it's great in theory, but execution probably isn't the best. Recommend maybe eating with just one side and leaving one rice portion off so it's not too much in one go. Braised Pork Bowl - Delicious, perfect choice. The bowls are probably the better option between bowls and koja Kamikaze Fries - Pretty loaded, highly recommend. So the reason they lost a few stars with me is because do they know what braised pork is? It's just shredded pork, so that's false advertising first off. OMG! This is the first time that I have ordered food from this restaurant, and I am wondering WHYY did I not know about this sooner. I have been craving poke bowls since the Poke Bowl closed in Castro Valley. I found my new spot. I like that I can customize using the website when ordering and I was pleased when I opened the food container, and the food looked so fresh and yummy. The tuna tasted fresh and didn't have the mouth feel that a previously frozen fish would have. I am allergic to real shellfish so the fact that they have imitation crab is very doable for me. This bowl came with won ton strips and red sauce on my rice. The crunch from the won ton strips, the richness of the crab and the wasabi sauce made my eyes roll back. I opted for no greens on my bowl as I didn't want to deal with soggy greens if I didn't finish during one sitting. My only complaint with this meal was that the rice was very dry. I ordered a small container of kim chee and was able to share with my co-workers. I like that there were jalapenos included in the serving. My co-worker ordered the short rib bowl. I was able to try the meat from her bowl, bless her heart, and it was full of flavor and very tender. She has been to Koja Kitchen before and when she orders the short rib bowl. it is consistent. I wish I was able to take pictures, but I dove right into my food and it was an afterthought. Happy to try something new the next time I am nearby. read more

I have tried The Original KoJa, the Beef KoJa, and the Braised Pork KoJa. All of them are good. I love the garlic rice buns especially when it's nice, golden, and crispy! Amazingly delicious!! I finished my whole meal and want to plan another time to visit again. A few seats inside as well as out. They are located in a busy area but do have tons of parking close to other common places. Not hard to find. We came in to order and it seems like they just take mobile orders since we ordered over a screen. A lot of pick up came so pretty popular which I understand because the food was so good. It's really nice that they have the restaurant beautifully decorated, I personally think that drives in customers to check the place out. Did takeout lunch from this location and it was easy to order online, and the food was ready on time with pleasant, efficient service. I was a little skeptical about the California spam musubi, but it's surprisingly worked with the avocado and imitation crab on top of crisped up spam and sticky rice. I only wish I had some soy sauce to use as a dipping sauce. The short rib bowl contained a healthy portion of rice and lightly dressed salad, with a decent portion of chunks of marinated short ribs, which had a good flavor, but we're not as tender as I had hoped. Came here with my kid for the second time and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered from the kiosk up front so we didn't have any interaction with the cashier staff. The kiosk is easy to use but if I remember correctly I couldn't find description of ingredients on the order pages. Chicken teriyaki bowl 4.5/5 Kid really likes it. The chicken is moist and pretty decent size for the price. Fries is a bit overdone. It was chewy. Kimchi was really really good (I stole a piece). Veggies were fresh Tuna salad bowl 5/5 Everything was fresh Dressing/sauce is very good. Seaweed salad, surimi , edamame, wonton strips and veggies. With tuna and sauce. I enjoyed every bite. I took a star because I was notified on my phone that my food was ready. But when I went to pick up they couldn't find my order. Then said they're still waiting for a new batch of rice. Had lunch here a couple of weeks ago, and it's the Umami Fries that stick out in my good food memories! Love the miso-coconut drizzled over tender pork and crispy waffle fries. My beef bowl and everything else was overshadowed by the fries! Nothing wrong with everything else, just faded in my memory. My sis and cousin found their Strawberry Mango Mint lemonade too sweet. I've tried the food truck in SF so I was interested in trying it at the Dublin location on my lunch break. It is a fusion style cuisine so be prepared for that. Being of korean background I tend to prefer the authentic flavors but they do petty good with their selection of bowls, sandwiches and tacos. One thing to note is that you will find the flavor profiles to be more on the sweet side. especially with their sauces and marinades. I'm sure there is a huge demographic that loves this style of cuisine though. My last visit I had the beef bowl and Kamikaze fries (I was hungry). Again, tasty but the marinade was pretty sweet. The interior is interesting, strong bay area vibes with a mix of down home style. Cool, but interesting. Just a heads up, if you come to the Dublin location, parking can be pretty chaotic. It's a high volume, high traffic area with smaller spots so I would park farther than usual and get a couple steps in lol. In closing, yes I will go back and it may be a good introduction for someone that has never had Korean/Japanese food. read more

I was in need of some food but not too much food to tide myself over. I've had Koja Kitchen before so I was good to get some here. Though a bit pricey, the food is full of flavor and convenient when you're in a pickle to find some sustenance. L O C A T I O N Located in the Persimmon Plaza right near Nick the Greek and Chipotle. Parking is shared by all the restaurants and shops here so it can be hit or miss in terms of finding a spot but I haven't had any issues finding a spot relatively nearby. I N S I D E This was probably the smallest KoJa Kitchen I've been to outside of just the truck. They have a small amount of seating inside. You can order at the counter or at the kiosks. M E N U The menu is similar to the other Koja Kitchens. They do have bowls, rice burgers, smaller bites with or without meat depending on your protein of choice. I had a few items here: Beef bowl, chicken taco and California musubi. The Beef bowl was full of flavor, but super saucy as in, tip the container a little too much and you'll spill. I unfortunately put it in a backpack (half of the food) and it spilled in the bag and my backpack smelled like food. The chicken taco though small was enough for me. Again full of flavor perhaps wish it had a few more veggies but that's fine. The California musubi was great. A little heftier in my tummy than I expected so when I had that an the chicken taco. I was stuffed. S E R V I C E Relatively quick. One time no one was helping out and I just ordered on the kiosk. Another time someone was at the front who was quite friendly and helping out though a little too eager to help. So I think it's finding a good balance between the two would be great. I probably come here with my bf for takeout once a month after work around 5:00. Every time I come the parking situation is tough. Despite a big parking lot, there must just be a lot of popular stores cause I generally have to kick my bf out while I idle in the corner of the lot. However the food itself is great. Their original Koja sandwich is super tasty. I've added egg before for that extra protein but I must say the egg is too soft to survive the crispy rice buns. When I bite into the sandwich the liquid if the egg gets everywhere, but it's just so tasty. I usually get their chicken or crispy chicken bowl, sometimes with salad instead of rice and add an egg and sometimes avocado (what can I say gotta add all the colors haha). These bowls taste great fresh though once they cool down their flavor fades quickly. I don't fault them for this because part of the charm of the bowl is the difference in temperature between the greens and the chicken/rice, so if you're ordering with the intention of having leftovers I'd just caution you to not expect much from the leftovers. I always order the kamikaze fries and sometimes also the umami fries. Both are so addicting but I'd have to say there's something about the sweetness of the Korean bbq beef that whispers in my ear to order it every time I'm in Koja. I originally was going to go to Nick the Greek right next door but then I noticed Koja Kitchen! We decided to check it out. So I didn't realize this but this is only for to-go/take-out orders, so there isn't really a dine-in option since there's no seating/table inside for eating. When I arrived on a weekday for lunch, it looked dark from the outside and I thought it was closed but it was open! You order on the screen inside or you can download the app, it's essentially contactless ordering since there's really no one in the front to help with the order but it's pretty seamless and easy! They're famous for their rice burgers. I got the original Koja, braised pork Koja and Kamikaze fries. I felt like we waited 10-15 minutes for our order after placing the order. There's a bench and seating for you while you wait. I felt the staff was attentive and asked for our name to make sure our order was on its way. So we got our food and we noticed some seating/tables outside (orange chairs so I am assuming it's part of the complex?) where you can enjoy your food. So we started to dig in. So I wasn't overly impressed with the rice burgers. The rice didn't have flavor, it was crispy but the meat and rice ratio didn't do it for me. I felt like there wasn't enough meat to the rice and personally, I think a rice and meat bowl would have been fine so in my opinion, this type of burger doesn't really compliment itself so I would probably pass. As for the fries, this is probably the best item we purchase. But however, I felt like the sauce on top didn't really get to the other fries so I wish there was more topping/sauces so I can enjoy this a lot better. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed with the food or anything. Not sure if it's something I'll recommend but I suppose it's worth trying if you have never had it to see if it's your type of burger. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since they finally made a tofu koja (you can only order this by placing an order directly through their site, not a 3rd party app) Ordered online through their website for pickup at 12:25. Got there at almost 12:45 and didn't see the order anywhere. I tried asking the woman behind the counter as no one greeted me upon walking in. The woman had her headphones in and I saw what I think was American idol on her phone playing on the counter behind her. So she was ignoring me because she couldn't hear me. Finally I stand up on my tippy toes to try and see the other person working. She makes eye contact with me and comes over. She never received the order. I told her it was done through their website as she thought I did it on DoorDash. They never even started the order or saw the order. I have to get my daughter so I asked her to refund me. The spam was very flavorful and I loved the fresh sliced avocado and drool-worthy bacon in their signature!! A must try! For my side I ordered the Umami Fries. The fries themselves were amazing, crisscut waffle FYI! But I prefer the toppings on their Kamikaze Fries since the Umami was on the sweet side for me. I love Koja Kitchen and was thrilled when they finally opened one in the OC but then it closed like a year later. Each time I visit the Bay Area I want to hit up a Koja. I typically get a Koja sandwich with fries but wanted some greens so decided on a bowl that had white rice, green salad and kimchee. I also wanted to try the pork taco so I got that as well. My meal was like how I remember. The short rib bowl was so good with the sweet teriyaki type flavor with the hot sauce drizzled on top and pairs well with mixed greens with soy ginger dressing for a little balance. I could eat this every week. The braised pork taco had an odd creamy sauce which was okay but I prefer more of a salsa based type of topping. The fried onions is a nice touch though. There is no dine-in option at this location at the time and currently only have to-go orders. There are tables outside. They do want you to order online but we walked in and they just took our order there. I miss the food at Koja Kitchen and wish they would open another location back in SoCal area. read more
