I went on a Friday night, and was so excited to get some jerk chicken. It was 8pm, but they were out of jerk chicken lots of other options though. I went with the jerk shrimp. I got rice and beans as one side. Large portion size of everything, good value. I asked what the most popular thing was for my other side, and was told Mac/cheese. It was okay, but needed salt and pepper Which Didn't come in the take out bag....but they did have extra napkins and silverware without being asked! Needed a side cup for the Mac, cause it was just weird with rice sticking to it. Shrimp was average jerk shrimp, good flavor not spicy. Medium size shrimp, still a great value. Being from North Carolina, where BBQ is taken very seriously, I've been disappointed in finding a good place to eat here in Florida. But that changed today when we stopped at this gem of a place to eat true smoked meat! It tucked back in a mixed neighborhood off the beaten path and doesn't look like your conventional restaurant. It's mainly a food truck with outdoor seating, but with today's craziness, it works. The menu is all about meats; pork, ribs, chicken and local catch fish. They also offer an amazing verity of sides, but my favorite is the sweet plantains. The prices are very reasonable and you get a very generous serving. We got two meats with two sides and had take out left over. So basically for less than $30 we had a great lunch and dinner today. I go out of my way to try out new food truck ventures. If you haven't eaten at one before, give it a try, it will be most brick and mortar places. read more

Absolute best Jerk chicken and pork outside Jamaica! Rice and beans were great and the plantains were perfectly cooked. HUGE portions and a great value in a really cool outside setting well off the beaten path. We learned from the chef that they will only be in this location for two more weeks. They are opening a free standing restaurant in Old Town Key West soon. We look forward to visiting them at their new location when we return. read more

One of the most memorable meals of our trips. We walked up and the owner was handmaking his beef patties (for those not super familiar with these, they look very similar to beef empanadas but are made with a ton of delicious spices, like tumeric and yellow curry.) They were SO fresh, juicy and flavorful. The jerk pork was perfectly seasoned and smoked and had the most flavorful crispy edges. It came with a homemade spicy jerk sauce and celebration dumplings, which tasted like corn fritters. We just happened by The Jerk and ate there because The Hogfish Grill too crowded. We were delighted by our food selection. There were two of us and both ordered the Jerk Burger with cheese and bacon. They were sensational and incredibly tasty with a slightly crunchy bite. Served with a sauce and fresh tomato slice that added the perfect touch. On vacation in the keys and was craving Jamaican food. On the way to a different restaurant, smoke from a jerk pan was spilling over a fence into the road and convinced us we had to stop and try it. Nestled in an small marketplace for artists was the food truck. I ordered jerk chicken and my girlfriend (who was born and raised in Jamaica ) got the jerk pork. She gave it the official stamp of authenticity . The food was absolutely delicious, and the addition of the slaw, salsa and festival was a great surprise. Back home in Boston it's typically just rice and peas and steam cabbage. A cooler filled with Jamaican drinks is out front of the food truck (i washed down my plate with a DG ginger beer). It's a food truck with really great food and is very clean. There were 6 of us and we sat on the picnic tables in front of truck under umbrella. With 6 of us we tried about everything on menu I had the ox tails which were really good i was told the jerk chicken was very good I also tasted the ribs and they were excellent . Amazing doesn't even begin to say how good this food was! We had the ox tails, goat curry, and jerk pork but the owner threw in a piece of jerk fried chicken on the house just because he made to much! My wife and I have been to the old location on stock island many times and found the food very good.We found out the jerk moved to a location on southard st key west.It was a given that we would go to the new location. We ordered two orders of jerk pork, one with rice and peas the other with french fries. what a disapointment, the pork tasted like it was baked in a oven not on a drum/grill and had no seasoning. We were give the a small container of jerk sauce which didn't improve the barely warm lack of flavor pork.The rice and peas tasted and smelled sour, not fresh. The food came out barely warm except for the french fries. We wanted to try something away from busy duval so we looked to Yelp for advice and came to this. Husband and I decided to drive and check out the place. Once we arrived, I was really skeptical as the place looks rundown and trashy from outside the gate but we had to try it based on the reviews! Good thing we did! We got the jerk chicken and pork. So flavorful! I wanted to try the tacos and curry but unfortunately husband said what we ordered was too much already. I'm now back in Miami but wished I had bought some to go! Very untraditional bohemian out door food truck restaurant with plenty of seating. I got the curry goat with is absolutely fabulous. This little hidden gem is just steps off Duval Street - On Southard Street. The crew run the shop make it a great experience while you wait for your made to order Dish. Actually I canceled dinner reservations at three Key West restaurants in order to keep coming back for this excellent Jamaican cuisine. We also had jerk chicken tacos and jerk pork. can't go wrong with anything on the menu there. As an added bonus i'm from the north - not so accustomed to that heat and humidity - the guys pulled out water bottles that been in the freezer so the waters were ice cold. There is a little bit of seating inside and outside and they also have ability to spill over onto some nearby tables if need be. Looking forward to going back.
