The chocolate chip cakes were really delicious. Huge and filling just the right amount of chocolate. The chocolate insanity cakes are crazy. It's very sweet and ALOTTTT. It has ice cream chocolate syrup whipped cream and butter. It's a lot. Fun but a lot. The fruit is fresh and a solid variety which is kinda rare. The chunky monkey special was crazy. Have been there twice this week so far. Our server was excellent and the pancakes! The pancakes are the best I've ever had! Servings are huge! Two pancakes are for a hungry man...they cover the entire plate. I was thankful the server asked is we wanted one or two. Busy on the weekends, great on the weekdays. Toast was 5 stars (delicious bread), omelette was a 4 (tasted a little more fried than I liked and a little bland - needed a little salt), home fries were a 4.5 Decent price for omelette and sides. The place is packed and we had to wait to be seated which is fine so long as the food is good. I got the eggs over easy with toast, home fries, and corned beef hash. The eggs were overcooked but the home fries had lots of flavor. Nothing much for me to say about the corned beef hash...I'm pretty sure it's from the can. What shines here are the pancakes. They are huge and delicious and come with REAL maple syrup...none of that other stuff that is fake. Hubby loved the blueberry pancakes. They come on top and inside the pancakes. My friend had the peach pancakes and they were tasteless. If you're coming here, get the pancakes over any of the egg dishes....both of ours were meh. Also they don't have ANY non-dairy milks for coffee which is a big pet peeve of mine. With all the allergic reactions to cows milk, how is it possible for a breakfast place not to have a little container of nondairy milk. Meant to do a pancake crawl but after discovering astronomical we keep coming back. Just like all the pancake houses in the area there will be a wait on weekend mornings but it's worth it. The famous cinnamon pancake is so delicious, huge and like $9 or something. The specials are substantial more tho- I once got the red velvet waffle and it was good but like $16. I came across this restaurant from the Visit Williamsburg Instagram and knew that it was a must-visit. We waited around 30 minutes for a table, which was to be expected on Black Friday. Our server was friendly and extremely helpful with the menu and gave heads ups when needed about portion sizes, though she was forgetful after we received our meals. The restaurant was busy but still kept everything clean quickly in between tables. At our table, we ordered regular pancakes, pumpkin cinnamon swirl pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage, grits, and home fries. Everything was delicious! Portions are definitely enough to share - everyone left with leftovers and I ate my pancake in three separate meals. Highly recommend, only deducting a star due to limited waiting area seating (it was 35° and we had to wait outside until there was room inside), price of some items ($7 for side of ham) and sever attentiveness. read more

I got the berrilicious pancake ($17) and it took about 20 minutes to come out. Unfortunately I saw a hair in the fruit that was on the pancake. They offered to remake it, but I didn't want to since it already took a long time to initially come out. I did ask to get a side of fruit which they were able to get for me. After eating a few of the berries I saw yet another hair within the bowl. Quite shocking to have two separate hair incident in just my food alone. Incident aside pancake was quite mid. The only positive I feel like I got from this was the portion size. This is as good as it gets for lots of unhealthy calories and a very happy tummy. I came here after hearing all the hype of how great this place is and how big the pancakes are. This place does get packed on the weekends. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes on a Sunday morning before the Williamsburg bowling tournament. The food is great. This is still our favorite pancake house here in Williamsburg! It's our go-to when we want the best omelette or pancakes in town! We also always have the nicest servers! It could use a remodel but I think it's part of the charm. It's clean inside so that is what matters to me! Coffee is always refilled and tastes great. I was really torn between 4-5 stars. Service: 5+ and everything else but ambiance, solid 4s. We came on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, around 10 a.m. The place was packed but with no wait so we were seated in a far corner right away. I didn't get our server's name, sadly, but she was awesome. So that's 5 stars for her! DGD had been here a couple of years ago with her dad, and every time we return to the area, she searches for it and was so delighted to find it again. She raved about the Chocolate Insanity and ordered that. I was astonished to see that she ate very little of it! She did eat some bacon but mostly was "stealing" Mom's grits. Funny girl. DD got a basic 2-egg breakfast with corned beef hash and the grits. I think she was the only disappointed one among us, but she really doesn't love basic breakfast and prefers more exotic fare. She did say the food was excellent, just not her first choice. Forewarned about the size of the pancakes, DGS only got one - it covers the entire plate - but after one bite declared, "This is the best pancake I've had in my entire life!" He is 15 and his favorite till now has been IHOP, just for reference. He ate almost the whole thing, which is rare for him. We shared some sausage links and patties. I like their sausage! It tasted like old-fashioned country sausage, not the usual restaurant fare. My two eggs over medium were just right. I did try a couple of bites of his pancake and it was very tasty. For the first time ever, he didn't finish his chocolate milk, and DGS's pink lemonade was huge so she didn't finish it. I didn't pay so I'm not positive, but I think DD said it was around $75. Parking is free; their own area is small, but you can park in the motel lot at the back, which is also free. I didn't like how close the tables are to each other, and the noise level was at the edge of discomfort for me. The pancake & waffle meals do not include any sides, so all sides are an upcharge, and they are expensive. Could not get refills on anything (even water) due to slow service and forgetting just ice water. Server did initially have a big table, but even after they all left, still could not get good service from him. Restaurant looked to be at ~50% capacity when our food was being delivered, which wasn't particularly slow, but everyone's food came out randomly and not together. The pancakes were huge, plate sized, but the waffles were not particularly special. Standard diner waffle. Honestly, $100 (excluding tip) for 2 adults and 2 kids eating breakfast is crazy high. This same meal was $60 down the road at another breakfast place with better service. AC worked really well though. We were actually cold most of the time, so in July/August, it's a positive. Meh. We're locals and we usually go to bright, clean Not Another Pancake House, with the same owners. We wanted to try this place for the "astronomical" effect. Well there's nothing astronomical about this place at all. We expected some kind of space decor, maybe kitschy 50s or modern outer space theme. But NO...not sure why it's called astronomical, but it is a REALLY OLD dusty country- kitchen themed decor. With round-back wicker chairs that your purse slips off, nasty carpet, and the smell of when they used to have a smoking section. Also there's a constant cluaterfuck at the entrance because there are two sets of double doors set too close to each other. The food was...not astronomical. The home fries were dry potato wedges with some pepper seasoning that didn't have any flavor, like the 30-year-old spice jars at your senile great grandma's house. The chipped beef was blah with zero flavor. The bacon cheddar waffle was ok I guess ...it had a mere light coating of pre-shredded bagged supermarket cheese, so no cheddar flavor at all. Oh and it had a big hair in it. I just cut that part off, but I could understand if that totally grossed someone out. The over easy eggs came out over well, with a solid yolk. Yeah my kid's pancake was big. Whatever. How hard could it be to use real ingredients...come on. This place needs a re-boot, food-wise and even more importantly, decor-wise. The owners need to invest some money in this place. AND take the airlock doors out for crying out loud. We won't be back unless this place gets a remodel. read more

Biggest downside would be how long it took for the food to come out, we were a group of 6 so I was already expecting a long wait for food, however 30-40 mins for bfast food was definitely pushing it. Also wasn't expecting potato wedges when I read fries on the menu, but maybe that's on me for not being familiar with "home fries" (they were still good though).
