I went to Joint Chiropractic yesterday, I went in with a ton of pressure in my back due to an old workout related injury and lots of stress from work, I'm amazed how much one visit freed up the tension in my back! I am a broke college student with scoliosis and love that this place only charges $40, but I can still only afford to come in every two months or so. And I'm super active and feel like this is enough for now. But I gave them 3 stars because EVERY time I go in the ENTIRE adjustment is a sales pitch about coming more and spending more on packages and stuff. I stopped here for an adjustment while on vacation & was clear that I'd only need the single appt. because Id be returning to see my regular provider once so got home. The girl at the desk pressured me to purchase packages of visits anyway & was very impersonal. I had a baby napping in the car with my husband while I was there but the staff refused to give me a sense of how long the visit would take saying "an hour or less but the wait is different for you because you're new" both on the phone & in person. The chiro did some adjustments that helped me out a little, but wasn't willing to do more than the 4-5 adjustments he prescribed, even though I requested another area be addressed. I like the quick in/out concept, but I wasn't impressed with the care I received at this location at all. read more

My first time getting adjusted and I had a very pleasant experience here! Walking in the front door I was greeted at the front desk by Makayla who was very friendly and informed me on what I needed to know beforehand which was very helpful. Wait time was very short, then I met Dr. Luke who was very professional and friendly and informed me about everything he was doing beforehand and what to expect after which was great. After a few adjustments I was already feeling better, my upper back and neck pain was decreased significantly and I left feeling very pleased! But before leaving, the doctor gave me some advice and his prescription to follow to ensure I continue with minimal to no pain. Very happy and highly recommend! read more

Spare your budget and your back and don't use this practice. You get what you pay for. Follow up on my previous review. It's now been almost 2 weeks since Dr. Brown's adjustment that caused me pain, and the pain is no better than it was that day. I have been unable to run without shooting pain radiating up and down my spine and legs. Sitting in my office chair is painful, driving is the worst. Lying down on my side or back is painful. I can't pick up my baby (!!!) or play with my toddler without pain. Every minute of the day, I'm in pain. At his insistence, I met with Dr. Fenton (the owner of the practice?) and my husband was with me a few days ago. Dr. Fenton stated that he believes it is breastfeeding that is the root of my issue. He then attempted to educate me on the hormones involved in breastfeeding. Laughable, given I am a highly educated mother who has been nursing (2 children) for 4 years, now. I gently corrected his information and advised him that I have never, EVER had this degree of back pain prior to the adjustment his doctor gave me earlier this month. "The minute he used the drop table on me, I felt a popping and burning pain in my lower back and it got worse from that moment on," I stated. Dr. Fenton continued to dismiss me and come up with other reasons I could be in pain. He then offered to adjust me himself to "fix the problem". Wow. No, I didn't let him adjust me. I'm terrified of letting ANY doctors in this practice touch my spine now. Dr. Fish was wonderful, but he of course vanished a few days after I signed their contract... Dr. Fenton, the owner (?), also said, "Why don't you just take a few days off work to rest it off?" Great advise, doctor! Will you be reimbursing me, my husband and my two kids Loss of Income if I do that??? Will you be reimbursing my employer for my loss of production? I've paid out of pocket now HUNDREDS of dollars on therapy and follow up chiropractic at a trusted practice (Dr. Blum, North Hollywood - strongly recommend him to anyone reading this, he's legitimately a professional practitioner) to try to relieve the pain -- and before this is done and my spine is HOPEFULLY back in good condition, it will be at minimum hundreds of dollars more....my primary care doctor also wants me to get an MRI to determine the extent of the damage. That alone is $900 under my current insurance. Just the bad adjustment alone would have been so much more acceptable if rather than push the blame for this injury off on me, the patient, the doctors of this practice had attempted for a MOMENT to accept responsibility and make recompense for the damages done. read more

I am beyond happy that I happened upon The Joint ...the Chiropractic Place in Van Nuys. Their office is modern and welcoming, Farrah (the Receptionist) is very friendly, compassionate and competent. Dr. Brown was able to work wonders on my neck in a short amount of time--he's had 22 years experience. I felt he was very committed to helping me with the worst seized-up neck I have ever experienced. At the end of the first visit my neck's range of motion was markedly improved, without incapacitating pain. While I've reaped the benefits of chiropractic care for many years, I've always had a problem when the chiro up-sells further services or supplements, or tells me that I have to come back 2-3x week for the next ___ number of weeks. The Joint's philosophy is like no other chiropractic office I've experienced and it makes me very happy. They offer incredibly affordable packages that make it very easy to receive chiropractic care on a routine basis. My plan is for $69/monthly for 4 visits; if I need to be seen more than that, any additional visits are $5 each(!). Even if you decide to pay for your visits one at a time, it's only $39. read more

Love going here! I have chronic neck and back pain, so being able to come here at least 4 times a month helps a ton, and I am more than willing to pay the $10 fee for extra monthly appointments. I am still quite new to the services here; however, I was introduced to the lovely Dr. Gordon Kernes. He is the most amazing, caring chiropractor I have had in a while! I drive half an hour to see him for ten minutes, but those ten minutes leave me feeling good as new for the rest of the day. Dr. Jay is fantastic - highly recommend. In general, The Joint is a fantastic operation ... but this review is about one particular Dr. and my experience there. I do NOT recommend Dr. Lee at the Burbank Blvd. location. I've been going to chiropractors for years and this was the singular worst experience that I've ever had. Most importantly: he really injured me. I walked in feeling pretty good and thinking I would just get a maintenance adjustment. Yeah me! However, he barely checked me out, didn't look at any of the computer notes, etc. before he started making adjustments. And he hurt me soooo bad that I had to seek treatment elsewhere (I won't get into details). I honestly wonder if he has had proper training. I have never felt so rushed or mishandled at any previous treatment by other chiropractors with The Joint (or elsewhere). All of my previous experiences with The Joint and those since have been amazing - I highly recommend it, but strongly encourage you to try to avoid treatment by this particular individual - Dr. Lee. read more

So far so good I been seen 3 times by Dr. Gordon for my TMJ problem. I felt relief after the first session as my jaw used to crack and lock and I had been suffering for 10yrs for this problem. We are working in making the problem be less painful and to correct it... They are friendly and polite in the front desk as the chiropractors that work there. They listen to your problem and ask how you felt the session before and during to help with the problem. If you ever have a TMJ problem Dr. Gordon is the one to go to. I go to the Van Nuys location and Dr. Bistrom is the only good chiropractor there. Any time I have someone else adjust me, I immediately regret it. Literally, I get in the car afterwards and crack my own back. Bistrom is the only one here who can do any adjustment at all. The 5-star rating is for him only. Every other doctor is a 1-star. I hate to say this, but it's very frustrating to pay for a service you're not satisfied with. I try to only come on days he is there but sometimes I can only make it on the other days. Been a patron for nearly five years and these folks work some magic. My favorite location now is Van Nuys (don't tell Bill). Docs Gordon and Jay are great. I come here every Tuesday after work to have one of these guys beat the crap out of me and I can tell the difference immediately. Doctor Gordon really helps with balance and Doctor Jay just knows how to rid of all the tension I never realize I hold in my body. As a nurse, I take care to take good care of my body; cause your back is your #1 commodity. Also, their bedside manner is amazing. I have been going to the joint for many years. I hadn't been in a long time for an adjustment and I had hurt my shoulders and back and really needed to be fixed so I canceled my already existing therapy appointment so that way I could come to this joint and get an adjustment after work at 6 o'clock I arrived at 6:15 and was told because it had been longer than a year. I was considered a new patient and they were no longer excepting new patients after 6 PM per a new policy by district manager Brian That hadn't been established the day before I asked how long could it possibly take to fill out new intake paperwork and they said it didn't matter it was a company policy and we don't have time to see you. We have 45 minutes to fill out some paperwork and get an adjustment. It normally takes 10 minutes and there was not another single person inside that Place. These people were so afraid of breaking corporate policy that I had to go away still in pain and unable to move my neck this company does not care about healing people or helping people. They only care about making money and keeping corporate guidelines to the tea I will never, and I repeat never be returning to this establishment again I have given them too much of my money over the years to be treated like that, and be turned away because they didn't want to take the time to assess me even though I had plenty of time to be assessed. First of all, Ariel (front desk receptionist) was a sweetheart. She explained everything thoroughly and made sure my boyfriend and I were not lost during the process. This review is for Dr Brown who was filling in at the woodland hills branch. I've been experiencing constant lower right back pain for two years. The few chiros I went to could never adjust me on that side. Dr Brown was so reassuring, made no promises and said he's focusing more on accuracy vs force and he got me into position after a few minutes of assessment and low and behold he achieved what I've been dying to feel for two plus years and the pain was gone instantly. I can't believe it! I almost went for an MRI and now I'm pain free. I am considering driving to Van Nuys once a week since I have the monthly package. I have been to Dr Van and Dr Reiss as well and they are both great. Have seen Dr Reiss last couple times and has made a big difference in a good way. read more

I walked in on a Thursday evening at 6:04p.m. I was told they don't take any walk ins the last hour, I completely understand they want to go home early. I see the big sign that says "$29, Walk-ins welcome" The next day I walked in and the lady welcomed me very nice and friendly, I was seen by the dr, relatively quick, Dr. Luke was talking too fast that it seemed he wanted to finish the consultation fast enough to get to his next patient, once he handed me the prescription I was then brought to front desk lady. By the way, The adjustment on my lower back, felt a little different and more achy than when I walked in. Anyway, I will not be going back here, especially because, I told the lady Audrien I believe her name is, that I just want to pay for my service, and I am not interested in the treatment plan. Once, I told her several times, I am not interested. She kept looking at me very upset, and was rude to me from that point. I will not come back again, 1st & last time, I said "Thank you, have a good day" and she ignored me looking furious at her paperwork. Lol well, I am not mad, they're just too pushy. My wife luckily found this place for me! I've recently moved to LA from Spain and didn't have insurance for my usual kind of treatment. When I first visited this place I was in tremendous pain. I could barely walk. I was treated by Dr.Kernes (Gordon). My pelvis was severely rotated and pinching a lot of nerves causing extreme pain and discomfort. This had resulted in my right leg being 3 inches shorter! After an in-depth consultation and putting my mind at ease that I was in the right place, I felt fully confident in Dr.Kernes. No more than 30 minutes later I had been completely restored to full alignment. The inflammation was still there but I was also instructed on how to deal with that. I left the Joint hooping and skipping and able to move more freely than I have in over 2 years! The relief was IMMEDIATE! As well as being an amazing experience, the Joint also makes this treatment so affordable. I am now on a payment plan I pay monthly which is saving me a fortune. I now visit religiously at least 1-2 times a week, and sure enough I am getting better week by week. I cannot thank Gordon personally enough! He is a real angel. SO GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE! I have been a member for over a month. I have been having lower back pain for a few months. I kept thinking it would go away on its own. I absolutely love Dr. Nguyen! He adjusts both my son and I. When I walk I will ask " Is my doctor here today?" Meaning if someone else is there I will come back for Dr. Nguyen. At first I was nervous because his adjustment technique seemed aggressive on my neck, but little did I know that was exactly what I needed. After he started adjusting me the headaches subsided and my hip stopped hurting all together!! Three years of constant hip pain is now gone completely. I recently had to take antibiotics for a sinus infection and was dealing with indigestion. Dr. Nguyen gave me a natural remedy which cleared it right up.
