Don't go here - don't do this to yourself. I don't know where to begin. I should have run the moment they told me that I needed to pay them $100 for my first visit when my insurance confirmed that I should only be paying $40. But I am in pain even as I type this and I was so hoping to give chiro another shot (I do NOT love the idea of it but when something skeletal is out of alignment it makes sense). The moment I walked in and saw that no one was wearing masks, I felt like leaving but - the pain - so I filled out the four pages of paperwork that had so many 'releases' for me to initial, I have never seen so many, including one that told me that there will be costs that my insurance may not cover - which listed ADJUSTMENTS as one of those things. I should have left the moment I read that but I did not - and as I was filling the paperwork out, two men checked out. One made an appointment for his next Vitamin C IV (red flag - intravenous Vitamin C for what purpose?) and another came out to pay for a long list of services, at which point the receptionist said something like 'wow you're just giving us all your money!' Not a great thing to hear. They finally took me back into a room where I sat for 15 minutes and felt increasingly uncomfortable being there. Finally, I listened to my gut and left the room. When I told a woman I found in the hallway that I wanted to leave and that I wanted my paperwork back, she looked stunned and couldn't even complete a sentence. I went back to reception to ask for my paperwork back and heard the receptionist snarkily asking the stunned woman from the hall why I was leaving. I calmly said it didn't matter why, I just wanted my paperwork back. The receptionist made a few other choice comments with the nastiest tone of voice you can imagine as she photocopied my paperwork to keep it even though I stated I wanted it back. I am ready for them to try to charge me and ready to push back against that. This place felt wrong all around. read more

On reference from my lawyer, I came to the Pain Relief Center for several months of treatment following a motorcycle accident. The case closed about 18-months ago, and I hadn't visited a chiropractor since. During my initial treatment, I was never blown away by the care being offered; however, they seemed nice enough and were working pro-bono. That being said, when in pain this past Saturday, I decided to give the Pain Relief Center another shot and utilize my insurance. Prior to heading to the Pain Relief Center, I verified my own insurance and confirmed that I had $0 deductible and a $35 copay. When I called to make an appt., I was told that since it was the weekend, they would not be able to verify my insurance. I was then told that I would need to pay a $75 fee upfront, and, upon my insurance being verified on Monday, I could be refunded or credited the $40 I was overcharged. Sounded simple enough. I went ahead and paid the $75 for treatment. Fast forward to today, and I just got off the phone w/ the front office staff who have successfully validated my insurance .... BUT, they can only offer me a $40 credit and that a refund is not an option! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I am then told that they never give refunds and was essentially called a liar for saying that I was told I could receive a refund. Long story short, this place is shady. The front office staff is purposefully deceitful and full of lies. I have found a new chiropractor and will not be returning. I will also be disputing the charge. AWFUL EXPERIENCE! read more

I am more of a traditional medicine guy than a holistic guy. As I get older and have been disappointed by traditional western medicine so often, I have learned to try some new things. I have found a couple of things over the years that surprised me that work. One of them is the Pulse Machine I found at the Pain Relief Center of Studio City run by Dr. Ronald Marinaro. The Pulse machine is a pulsed electromagnetic field. Without dwelling on the science of it, it appears that there is a real and measurable difference in the electric impedance of a cell that is very healthy, or not. So, inflamed tissue, broken or fractured bones etc. not only have a real and measurable physiological finding, there is a profound and measurable change in electrical impedance and functioning at the molecular level in the cells themselves. When Dr. Marinaro explained about the machine I was rather skeptical, but at least open to try it. He set me up, got me comfortable and spun that large unit up. My particular trouble area was my right hip in which I was having a powerful bursitis flare up. He put me on a very comfortable table with a pad system below me and a specific zone unit directly on top of my very sore hip. He adjusted the machine based on my feedback of pain level and dialed it in. I did two separate treatments for approximately 45 minutes, one a week, and I have now scheduled a third. Of course, he did tell me that multiple treatments a week for several weeks is what I should be doing, but being shut down has made things harder. From a severe limp and being able to walk only a short distance, I am now walking my two dogs roughly two miles a day. My limp has (mostly) vanished and I am off of pain killers. Given that I had been in increasing pain for four months prior to this with no relief, not bad at all. In fact, fairly amazing. I cannot tell exactly why it worked so well, all I can comment is that it did work that well on me. I did ask Dr. Marinaro about other people's results and he told me that a majority of people who try it get some very significant results. Not everyone and not everything responds. I would think that if you have some chronic pain that you would absolutely want to try this; beyond that I have found Dr. Marinaro to not only be knowledgeable, but he has amazingly good hands on adjustments. This is a place I will be going back to regularly. Thank you for the great result. read more

Dr. Ron is the best! Not only is he an amazing doctor, he's a great guy. he spends as much time as you need - cracking, treating, going over workout plans, random vampire novels...whatever. He will suggest other care (core exercises in my case), recommend massages (they do them there, and they are awesome!), do XRays if needed and even try some other random treatment that might work if you're game. He even stretched my aching hammies. A few months ago I "had a fall" - I'm not 80 years old, but I tripped and really flew across the pavement at the finish line of a 5k race. I was a freakin mess. Road rash, shoulder injury, neck out of alignment...disaster. I couldn't even lie on my stomach so he could work on my back (because of the road rash on my knees) so he treated me while laying on my back. He finds a way - He fixes what ails ya! I have also tried accupuncture at this location. While it was professional and not scarry at all - I dont know if it did anything for me...but, it's worth checking out especially if your insurance covers it! I swear by Dr. Ron. He has saved me on more than one occasion. I've been going to him for a little over 3 years at least once every month, sometimes twice or even three times if my spine needs it. I've dealt with back pain and neck pain for as long as I can remember, and it got worse when I tore my ACL nine years ago. Dr. Ron has helped me tremendously. I'm originally from Portland so finding a chiropractor seemed daunting at first, but an old coworker/friend recommended me to him and I haven't looked back since! I will walk in with a headache and out without one. He works magic! Highly recommend meeting with him. Also the massages are amazing. Alex is my favorite and she works wonders. what's happened to this office Dr. Ron? if you find you've got a patient drain, i'd say the discourtesy of particularly one of your main reception people is a contributing factor. Oi, talk about attitude and snappiness in response to what?, checking in, giving your name and trying to schedule your next appt. i felt like I was being scolded for taking up space. a bad day is one thing, but this is consistent. where has all the common courtesy gone? and the waiting room time is troublesome. not sure if the staff is double booking appt times, or they're not staggered enough, but I watched two people bail out in front of me b/c they couldn't wait any longer for their scheduled appt. also, it's feeling a bit like you're pushing snake oil with the newly pushed iv vitamin c . i miss the days of consistent chiropractic care. you were a standard I appreciated, now I'm certain I won't be returning. here's hoping you reconcile a few things and get back to the greatness you once were. read more

Its a decent chiropractic office, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing shady. -1 because most chiropractors mix in massage or TENS unit or acupuncture with adjustments, there was none of that. -1 I was rushed, they charged my insurance 300 for a visit(standard i guess) but the chiropractor only spent 15 minutes with me! I'd give 10 stars to this place if I could. Dr Ron Marino is a great chiropractor who really cares about his patients. I was referred to him by another satisfied customer 4 years ago after an auto accident I had. Dr Ron was attentive to my needs, zeroed in on my area of pain and started a program for me involving stretches at home, medication and adjustments while at his office. Even after I felt better, Dr Ron reached out to see how I was doing. Fast forward to 2 months ago when I was diagnosed with a bulging disc that was causing a nerve to press against my ligaments. Several MRI's, CT scans and physical therapy only made my pain worse with no real course of treatment being recommended that made sense to me. I feared I'd need surgery so I thought I'd try Dr Ron again, instead. It took several visits and Dr Ron really focused on helping me get through the day pain free with his adjustments. He, also, recommended I try turmeric which I did and I'm FINE now! I would've needed surgery if I kept getting going to my ortho doctor at Martin Luther King Jr Hospital because that was the next course of treatment they were about to recommend. Now, I take turmeric regularly and see Dr Ron once a week for my adjustments. I owe my lack of pain, greater mobility and non-sleepless nights to him. I can only recommend Dr. Doug (yes that is what he likes to be called) but he is great! His easy going and casual attitude makes getting wrenched into unfamiliar positions not so terrifying. I was referred by a friend who stopped going because of overcharges but he told me Dr. Cole was a good adjuster. I get it that you need an examination for the initial visit but a rushed "touch my toes" and "where does it hurt" is not an exam...anyway I was put on a traction table for like 15 minutes while he was in another room and then he came in and adjusted me. The entire visit was less than 30 minutes and afterwards my back was so much is spasm I could barely walk. I was charged over $400 of which my insurance covered $265 and I was billed the difference of $140. Next time I will listen to the reasons my friends stop seeing a practitioner. read more
