This was my first time visiting The Juicy Crab in Austell, and overall I had a great experience. I ordered a shrimp and sausage boil with corn and potatoes, and the food definitely lived up to the hype. Everything was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the portions were generous. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the drinks. I ordered the margarita flight, and while it looked really nice, the margaritas were way too sweet and tasted like they had very little tequila. They were more like juice than cocktails, which was disappointing. Other than that, the service was friendly, the atmosphere was fun, and the food was the highlight of the visit. For my first experience, I left impressed and will definitely be back for another seafood boil. Next time, though, I'll probably skip the margarita flight and try a different drink. read more

The Juicy Special/Medium was kickin this day! I ordered a combo with snow crab cluster, shrimp no head, and green mussels. It was tasty with my Dussé Lemonade. My out of town guests wanted seafood. The kind where we can just order a seafood boil and go to town. We looked up one on Google and this location had the highest rating. We planned to go almost as soon as they ope ed and that's exactly what we did on a Saturday. There might have been 4 people in there when we arrived. We were seated immediately to a nice big booth with plenty of room to eat. Our server was quick with everything and friendly. Glad we showed up at that time because a party of about 12 came afterwards. We still received our food very quickly. I also ordered ak.e sweet tea. It was super sweet but that's ok, I just watered it down. I ordered the bag that had Dungeness Crab, Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, eggs. Everything was delicious except the sausage. It did not taste good and reminded me of Riger Wiod sausage. Please go back to the other smoked sausage. It was always a favorite. The crab legs were perfectly cooked and sweet. First impression: It needs to be cleaned. The front glass is greased with fingerprints, the floors are sticky, and the tables are fitted with gobs of soiled paper towels to stop them from rocking. It was a struggle to get comfortable, but after a series of disinfectant wipes on the tables where we sat, I made my adjustments. Meanwhile, back at the range, December 2015: Juicy Crab's first location and step as the company it had become today started with opening our first restaurant in Duluth, Georgia, 2015 on December 2nd. This location would be the first step on the path that has led The Juicy Crab to the 40+ locations it has today. The food was decent. It wasn't what I expected, but I realized that it is a messy job to handle lots of spicy juices covering mounds of seafood. I would've given a 5 but I was turned off by the plastic forks. I was also disappointed they didn't have crab forks. They did however have the crab crackers. The window ledge where we sat was dirty and had a few flies that had died there. The tables were clean. The food was really good but towards the end the salt got annoying. But we finally got seated after she said sorry she was using the restroom and they texted her. We sat and waited for 10 minutes and no one bothered to come take even our drinks orders. The worst part is all the people working there were just sitting around playing on their phones. We decided to leave and go to pirates boil 20 minutes away instead. This place was disgusting anyways. Like come on there were 2 tables and 3 people doing nothing. Some atleast clean if you aren't going to even service your customers. The food was good thank God, it took over an hour to get it so I'm happy I at least enjoyed the food. There were only 6 tables seated total in the restaurant but everything took so long. The bartender took 45 minutes to make a beer on DRAFT! It took half an hour just to get a water. This is my first time at any Juicy Crab establishment so the service level was very disappointing. My husband and I love crab shacks and The Juicy Crab did not disappoint! We were promptly greeted and seated, I appreciated how the hostess wrote down the time we were seated on our table. Our sever Shawna was very attentive and checked in regularly. I enjoyed the Cruise special and my husband had the King crab- both very delicious! I had the juicy sauce/mild- it had just enough kick to it and dipped my pieces in garlic butter for the perfect bites. The drinks are STRONG, in the best way, great flavor great buzz. My wife goes to pick up our food ($77.90) with my daughter because I'm sick. 10:53 PM and the food still isn't ready. They have to now " make the shrimp." I call from my sick bed and ask to speak to a manager, the lady refused to give me her name after asking repeatedly, then puts me on hold. I remain on hold for over 7 minutes another person answers the phone and says they are the manager and refuses to give me their name. They then ask my wife for the receipt which I text her. They did not give her the food and told her to go ask UberEats for a refund. WTF kind of service is this. I will not be spending my money there ever again. It was a bit on the salty side but bursting with flavor. With a few more potatoes to balance out the saltiness, it would have been better. Next time I will request more. The calamari was extra battered, which made the actual calamari hard to taste/find. I did appreciate the crisp but it was a little too much. I'm so glad I tried the juicy wings! I have family visiting in town and we ordered juicy crab yesterday. Today, they wanted juicy crab again. So I called to place the order over the phone, received my total over the phone and when I arrived to pick it up, my receipt said the same total that I received over the phone: $84. I gave the to-go rep $100 and he gave me back $1. Say what?? I told him he gave me incorrect change, and he told me the extra $15 was a gratuity. Say what??? On a to-go order?? He checked with the manager and confirmed it was "just for today because things are slow". I asked to speak to the manager. Some indifferent, inexperienced, couldn't-care less young man approaches and tries to tell me that "the company" can decide to add mandatory gratuity to to-go orders any time they want. And in this case, they are doing it "for the holiday". I simply said "no, uh uh. Not 18%, not automatically, and not when my receipt says a different amount." He then tried to continue rationalizing "it's a take out charge". Again I responded "nahhh". He got annoyed and said "well we can take it back if you don't want it". And grabbed the bag quickly like he was in his feelings. I said "okay, and I'll take a refund". And the fool legit cancelled the entire $85 order that was already made, paid for, and in my hands over a ridiculous, unsanctioned $15 gratuity that I was NOT paying. There was NO mention of the gratuity when I ordered or on my receipt. It's shady and disingenuous to decide that you just want to charge ppl 20% more on random, slow, close to holiday days. Poor business practices. They'll take the L on those food costs over his foolishness. But I was not going to do it. I tipped the to-go person $5 and walked out. Our first time eating here (yeah I know). Our server was Gina who did a fantastic job. She explained a few of the menu choices and even adjusted a few things to make sure we got the best deal. The food came out hot as it should. We had combinations of the sausage, snow crab, lobster and an order of lemon pepper wings.Each was great. They had the right amount of spice to them. I could tell the young lady who took my to-go order ran out of apologies because it was out of her control and it happens on a daily basis. I waited over 2 1/2 hours for my meal after being quoted 45 mins. They always seem to be short staffed in the kitchen and the front of the house employees get all the heat. July 15, 2021 is my 65th birthday. I placed an order online to pickup at the restaurant. I paid more than $62 for my order. I placed a note, asking for a seat, hoping they would say yes. When I arrived, I told them I placed an online order and am here to pick it up. In the note I mentioned that I placed a note with the order asking that I be seated. The person (male) at the front told me no. They had pictures hanging on the wall - I asked to have a photo taken, they told me no and that those photos was from other "Juicy carb" locations. I was shocked. I told him that was a lot of no's for someone who just ordered a $62 meal. I won't be going back there. The food is great - I ordered " For Your Special" even the sauce was just right. Would definitely recommend you drive a little farther to the Smyrna location. Whiting fish was overcooked and tasted fishy, not light and fresh. Received plain fries when the menu said Cajun- was told I needed to request them. My daughter's boil from the kids menu came out spicy when I ordered the garlic butter seasoning...they would not replace only re-sauce. Their hush puppies were good, but again too spicy for my child as they had onion and other spices in them and served with hot sauce and tarter sauce on the side (not the sweet kind we are used to).
