Three generations, six members, of my family recently paid a visit after checking out the nearby campus. I had not been back in years! I found it was just as great as when I last visited. My family agreed. The food was fantastic and in huge portions. Price was very reasonable. Service was so delightful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the ambiance was just perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Do yourself a favor and take a trip back in time to a true dinner worthy of the name.

Making a quick, pop in visit to Dekalb to see family and it just so happens to be Sunday - The BEST day of the week to go to The Junction!! I'm not sure I've ever visited this town when it wasn't Sunday....because of this soup. It just hits the stomach and soul right. The soup is so creamy and full of chickeney goodness. The rice is perfectly cooked everytime and never too mushy. Each spoonful you take has the perfect ratio of chicken and rice and it's not overwhelmed by any vegetables. I also had a patty melt and fries. Super tasty. And those pickles on the side!! The absolute best. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love this diner so much and always puts the cherry on top of my visit[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A few college and high school buddies and I decided it was time to have some breakfast at the Junction Eating Place in DeKalb. I've never been there, but they have. We got there before the crowd on a Friday morning. What a pleasant surprise, this place was great. I don't normally go for a skillet, but this was fantastic. I went for the Western Skillet that had diced ham, onions, tomatoes, green and jalapeño peppers, along with two eggs over easy, all over hashbrowns. It came with a side of pancakes, which were melt in your mouth good, and Coffee. I strongly suggest that you go for one of those. Our server was absolutely fantastic. KELLY was so on top of things and attentive to all of our needs, I would always suggest that you ask for her. I love the ambience. It's old-school with a little train that goes around up on top of one of the rooms. They have a diner style counter if you decide to sit that way, but we decided to have a wonderful meal sitting down and relaxing while going through fun stories. If you've never been there, I would suggest that if you're in DeKalb, you must stop for breakfast. Looking at their menu, they have all kinds of wonderful things. They've got appetizers and soups, sandwich, platters and wraps, all kinds of side, things, and specialties that look fabulous. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is definitely a place you need to go. I really enjoyed the food. It was wonderful and will be back soon.

Hard to call this food. The only positive was the waitress who was very nice. What do you expect sitting next to NIU.

This place sucks. Decor is very dated. Breakfast was terrible. Both my wife and I had upset stomachs shortly after leaving here.

Awesome little diner with greasy food. I love the skillets and drunkenly watching the little train go around overhead.

    Do they have outdoor seating?

No, I have not seen any outdoor eating. And even if there were, you probably wouldn't enjoy sitting outside in what is a pretty grungy strip mall. But the restaurant is decent, however.

They have music playing in the background. The room is nice and cold and a great break from the hot outside weather. You may have to bring a sweater if you don't like it too cold. It is a very clean, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress was really sweet and helped me pick out one of the simple sandwiches. There are lots of food items and love that they have fresh baked cookies too. My husband ordered the Corned Beef Hash with eggs over easy. Pancakes without powdered sugar and sugar free syrup. I ordered the simple sandwich - Turkey Everything was delicious If your in the area, come and give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed.

We started with two cups of cream of chicken rice soup and was surprised that this bakery didn't offer rolls with the soup, so I chose to use the toast from the meal I ordered. It worked perfectly. I will add that soup was served barely lukewarm. Not ideal, but we ate it. Next, we ordered a Tuna Melt with fries and a Lincoln Inn Special. We both agreed the food was good. Our server was very nice. She was attentive and assisted when asked. We also ordered the Strawberry Crepes to go. But we couldn't stop there, lol. While at the register, there were cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls, so we grabbed one of each. We enjoyed those a little later while we waited for our child who was at the camp. Both were delicious! I think it's great how the photos of many years are going across the walls and that they support the local college and their sports. Such a nice touch. There was a gentleman who came over and introduced himself and asked if I knew anyone in the photos. I do not recall his name. He was kind and told me about the photos and about how he created one in particular which was rather impressive.

We sat at the outdoor patio bar where they had two screens playing sports games. We started with a John Daley & Huskie Punch. The punch tasted similar to a painkiller which is tropical and fruity. The John Daley tasted like it had more tea than lemonade but it was refreshing. For food, I got the Honey Garlic Boneless Wings. I loved the flavor of the sauce and the medium order came as quite a big portion. They were very crispy and well breaded. My husband got The Fat Boy burger with a side of their famous Cajun Fried Potato Salad and Baked Beans. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The potato salad wasn't too spicy but tasted delicious. I see why it's so famous! Overall, this was a great summer hang out spot! I was thoroughly impressed by the food quality and atmosphere Fatty's has to offer. I will certainly be back with friends!

Being just after the usual grazing time for him we found this establishment that checked all the boxes for the three of us. Outdoor seating as well as indoor seating was available, seat yourself style. We sat inside. The noise level was not loud at all. Perfect for table conversations. The menu had too many tasty sounding items. I chose the Fatty Melt with the Cajun Fried Potato Salad and Coleslaw. My wife had the Chicken Club Wrap with Onion rings and Beans (for me). The little had the 2 mini sliders with fries. Being family we share the sides and the onion rings were a hit. The number one treat in my book was the Cajun Fried Potato Salad. The bean had a good smoky flavor to them. Last but not least our server should get top billing in the review. Jordan did a fantastic job accommodating our requests and took the time to answer questions without feeling rushed. She made us feel more like a friend than a patron. Hats off to you Jorden! Thanks for making our visit enjoyable.

It's a pretty good sign that people like to come here. Have to speak the language of the locals. A crap ton of local beers. It's about $8 a pint. Splurge a bit more for some finely aged whiskey. It's about $18 for a medium pizza.
