Thank you again YELP! for helping me find a great joint. Arrived in a Thursday around 8:30am. Small lot but we were able to find a spot. Walked in and we were sat immediately. Server was very friendly. There is a self serve coffee and tea station with various sweeteners and creamers. Nice touch. I got a cup of decaf tea. Delicious. I ordered the chicken and French toast with a sausage patty. The sausage was fantastic. The chicken thighs were cooked perfectly and were so moist. French toast was very good. I don't remember the place being noisy at all. Highly recommend!!
I have really torn feelings on this place. For 3 years I have wanted to try here but every time they were closed or it looked like a long wait. Finally got to go with my oldest son. Are service was good, wait for food wasn't bad at all. Everything was done well... but I honestly didn't like much of it. It just really defined "not for me". Like the French toast was good except it was just drowning in syrup (rather than letting me put it on myself) and the rosemary flavor in the syrup was not to my taste. If this had been on the side I would have tried a bite and then just asked for regular maple syrup and been happy. The mocha donut, same story. The mocha was bitter and if this was on the side I could have dunked my donut in but instead I didn't have a choice. I'm not mad about it. They are clearly aiming for a particular mindset on food. Something different, something unique, something strongly defined. And I can appreciate and respect that and everything was definitely well executed! But I really would have preferred to have the option to have a more traditional set of flavor profiles. J.Ja
Really nice vibe, it's small but cozy. The staff is super friendly. Food was amazing. Probably the best chicken and French toast I've ever had. Give it a shot if you're on the fence.
Cute little chill-viber in North CHAS with excellent service and an easy-going atmosphere. Parking might be challenging on weekends but was no problem for my Thursday morning breakfast. - Coffee is of decent quality and is self-serve; choose your own mug off the wall and refill as you please. - My pimento cheese grits were alright -- the texture should have been creamier, the flavors more robust. The French toast, though, was excellent: good quality bread with just the right amount of soak; crispy edges and deep, rich bourbon-brown sugar notes; and ample pecans. At first I thought the rosemary could have been a bit subtler but really, rosemary isn't a spice prone to subtlety and by the end, I was relishing this creative addition. - Def worth a stop.
This place has been on my list of breakfast place suggestions since they opened, and every single time someone asks for a brunch spot I mention that I have been meaning to try this place. It's a great trendy location on the edge of Park Circle, conveniently has a small parking lot in addition to street parking and a tiny city lot close by, woman owned, and decorated super warm and inviting. So I really really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was the day I chose to go. I used YELP to reserve a spot on the waitlist, and met a friend for brunch before going into Highwater. Maybe they were unusually slammed. I ordered a Buzzed Donut, coffee rubbed bacon, with an over-easy egg on a pop biscuit doughnut with a side of shredded hashbrowns & mocha dip. Sounds amazing and unique! But the one I was served was burnt, hard, and had obviously been sitting under some heat too long and was past the point of being served. I politely brought it to my server's attention both dark coloring, hard texture, and burnt taste were affected, and while she did inquire, the answer was that it was the last one so a re-order was not an option. I was not trying to make a stink to my server or make my friend late to the festival, and they couldn't rush a new item, so I ate around the hard/burnt part politely. When the bill came, the server informed me she took 15 percent off that item. Everyone has off days, and I really wanted to like this place but the more I think about it the crazier it is to think I paid 85 percent of a meal that shouldn't have been served. When I worked in food service, I would have never served an item in this condition. I would have simply apologized that I didn't realize the kitchen was out, taken the item off the bill, and brought a replacement item or dessert at no charge. I had excitedly announced it was my first time trying this place when the server first introduced herself, and I'm just disappointed it wasn't 100 percent wonderful.
I met a friend for lunch and we sat outside which was so nice! No wait at all on a Friday in May, but it quickly filled in. We both had a hard time choosing what to order. They serve both breakfast and lunch all day. I loved the energy salad, it was filling and light and had great flavor. We also split a donut which I highly recommend!
Went for breakfast and were able to be seated right away (we did not make reservations). Our waitress recommended the Mexican Hash (so naturally I got that) and my friend got the Huevos Rancheros. Both were good but I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros a bit more. The salsa that came with the Mexican hash was delectable though. Coffee is self serve and unlimited. Grapefruit juice is not refillable.
Decided to give this spot another try .... Day after the wedding the in laws wanted brunch .. The wait wasn't bad because it was a beautiful day but parking whew lol ... today I went with the Biscuits and Shroom Gravy ... I added a sunny side up egg and the sweet tea fried chicken .. I must say I'm glad I gave this place another chance ... my meal was awesome... my biscuits were fresh and that mushroom gravy was the perfect pairing .. my egg was cooked to perfecting and exceeded expectation ... And last but not least the sweet t fried chicken was very moist and fresh. My entire meal came out hot so that added a plus to the overall meal... My only gripe was that I never knew the servers name. she wasn't rude but it's just common courtesy. until next time
Great Brunch Spot with Gluten-Free Options! Our group of five made a spontaneous decision to stop by The Junction for brunch while most of our family went on a historic tour or headed to the beach--and it ended up being a great call. Three of us ordered the French toast and fried chicken (so good!), and I really appreciated that they offered a gluten-free bread option--it's been hard to find gluten-free choices elsewhere in Charleston, so this was a big win. The other two in our group had hash browns, eggs, and turkey sausage, and everyone was happy with their meals. Portion sizes were generous and everything was full of flavor. We also shared three pitchers of mango peach mimosas--delicious and super refreshing! Our server was attentive, friendly, and answered all of our questions without missing a beat. On top of that, the prices were really affordable for the quality and quantity of food we received. If you're looking for a laid-back, satisfying brunch spot in Charleston--especially if you need gluten-free options--we definitely recommend stopping by The Junction. Great food, great service, and a relaxed vibe.
We had lunch on Sunday and this place pretty busy! They have small parking lot for the costumers. The usher greet us and found an available spot pretty quick but we had to clean the table again since she didn't clean it well from the previous costumer which was not a big deal. Our server was pretty informative with the menu and quite fast! The noise level was pretty moderate and they also have outdoor seating. The inside looks very casual and I consider this as a hippie joint type of resto. I had the mushroom mex hasbrown and it was really good . My kids and hubs had the buzzed biscuit, french toast , and the biscuits and gravy with extra 2 scramble eggs on top. They all taste really good. One thing I hope they can improve with the biscuit and sausage gravy is to add more gravy because the biscuits were pretty generous but not enough gravy ratio to them. The orange juice and iced coffee pretty on point for us. I think this place is so far the best breakfast/brunch/lunch place in North Charleston!
This is definitely a place to try if you're in North Charleston. The food is made fresh daily and I love the option to sit inside or outside. It feels more homey and the spacing inside fits about maybe 40-60 people (I think). But it's still worth going to. I went with some friends and they all loved it. There's a bar inside and they have a coffee station for you pick a mug and make your own coffee. I love it! Go check it out!
We had high hopes going into experiencing brunch at The Junction Kitchen. The quaint, local eatery has the charm and indoor and outdoor seating ambiance to be a cool spot for eats. However, the slow and delayed service from the kitchen, the disappointing and overcooked donuts, and the less than great main dishes led to a less than desired experience. We waited about 20 minutes starting at 1:20 the afternoon, which I didn't mind since all the tables were filled with patrons. Once we were seated and gave our order, however, we waited over an hour for our dishes, with the donut that was supposed to arrive early on not arriving until a few minutes for the rest of our order. I am not sure what was happening in the kitchen but we went a while in between first receiving our drinks. The lull time was a lot compounded by the fact more tables were empty after the 2 pm mark. There was no iced coffee or ability to make it, but they did have canned cold brew, which I did enjoy a couple of those. My wife enjoyed her cocktail. But we did notice even a delay from our server in ensuring we had drinks and needed. I thought the chocolate mocha donut would be good. But the long wait to just get the donut was frustrating enough before trying it and discovering it was overcooked and burned. I was shocked it was as hard and burned tasting as it was. Had I not been hungry, I would have sent it back. But having not had anything to eat at that point all day, I found myself eating the burned donut anyway. When we finally received our main dishes, I was disappointed with the chicken and French toast. The chicken fingers tasted soggy and quite bland. While the French was good with the bourbon butter and maple syrup, the dish walls have been better without the chicken. Call it an off day by the kitchen or just bad luck. But still, I wasn't expecting a let down experience when I had heard more than a few good words about this place for breakfast and brunch.
Wanted to come here since it's a quick walk from our rental house. Stopped in, placed it to go order of the Mexican Hash (no butter or cheese; they were able to modify with ease) and side of Coffee Rubbed Bacon. Lots of great flavor and very filling. Cute venue, quite busy, nice staff.

My friend Jodie and I came here to visit and it was our first time here. Love the area, definitely busy which was a good sign. If it's busy it's usually a good sign! We waited 35-45 minutes but it was a perfect day to sit outside and wait. The drinks were good, the service was great and the food was outstanding! We had Alexis as a server, although he was busy he was very pleasant and personal. I would highly recommend this place! I will be coming back! read more

Wow! I love this place! We got there right at 9am when they open and there was already a line out the door so we knew it was going to be great. The ambiance is so cozy and fun, the staff is super friendly. We loved the rockabilly music playing! Felt right at home. We ordered a craffee of blood orange mimosas, shrimp and grits, avocado toast with a side of bacon. The food was so amazing! I love this place and will definitely be back read more

Hands down one of the best breakfast spots in Charleston! If you're new to the area be sure to stop here, you won't be disappointed. Their sausage and gravy is one of the best I've had and the rancheros breakfast i could eat every single weekend. Get there! read more
I place to check out if you're up for some really yummy food ! We checked it out today and while it was only 15 minutes since it opened their parking lot was already full! We had a small wait and the service was good ! I had the Mexican Hash and my husband had the French toast! We loved it ! There was a self serving coffee with your choice of mug. While we only had the breakfast I def wish I could go back for lunch (came from out of town) they have healthy stuff! The place outside is decent looking but the environment inside totally fits this place it was small and nice detailing done ! read more

The only thing I have to ask myself is what took me so long to go to The Junction. What a terrific overall experience. Great feel of the restaurant, music a perfect fit, impeccable service and covid precautions plus fabulous food. The menu is quite eclectic so I know we will be back many times to savor so many great choices. Breakfast all day so of course we had breakfast at 1pm. I had the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette which was as good as any omelette I have ever had and the hash browns were exactly how I liked them, crispy yet moist at the same time. My wife had the French Toast and she couldn't stop raving about it. Then finally I have to mention the donut. Only regret is we ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture. The Junction is now on my list of favorites which means many trips there. read more

In town visiting some friends and came here for breakfast. Special of the day??? Chicken and waffles, one of my all time favorite breakfasts. The twist? Topped with bananas foster. The bananas foster paired amazingly with the waffles but I felt that the sweetness slightly overwhelmed the salty/savory of the chicken. The service was great; both friendly and attentive. Overall I am extremely happy to have stopped here. read more

On December 23, 2018 at approximately 1456 hours I, Dante G., responded to The Junction located at 4438 Spruill Avenue, which is in the jurisdiction of the city of North Charleston, in reference to a large crowd, possible civil disturbance. Upon arrival, I entered the business through the centrally located door on the A side of the building. I made contact with an unknown female white who directed me to my table which was located approximately two-thirds into the dining area. It was a low for top, forgave a wonderful vantage point for the entire restaurant. I can see the arcade machine, Pac-Man and Galaga, I can see the bar, and both entrances. I ordered the Buzzed Donut (see attached photo). The Buzzed Donut is coffee rubbed bacon and an over easy egg served on a donut with mocha bacon dipping sauce and hashbrowns. I was directed to a Creamery to obtain coffee however I declined. A few moments later food arrived. The hash browns were crisp, at least on the outside. They were warm soft on the inside. The donut was not as I expected, but delicious all the same. The dipping sauce, however, should be on the drink menu. I literally would drink glasses of that stuff. Definitely an excellent brunch for the price. The location was fairly crowded, and rightfully so. Further monitoring required. End of Report. read more

After recently moving to the Park Circle neighborhood, I had a chance to revisit the Junction for Sunday brunch. We were a group of four, and all but one of us considered adventurous eaters. However, my daughter likes things rather simple. After waiting about 20 minutes for our table our server explained that a couple items were unavailable that day, one being "The Boring". Knowing that my daughter would find nothing else on the menu, I explained that we really needed just one "boring" uneventful breakfast with eggs over easy, toast, and bacon. No coffee. She frowned and agreed to try to get the kitchen staff to put this order together for her even though it wasn't on the menu today. I was concerned because my daughter was visiting and was the entire reason we were out brunching. It didn't really make sense since all the components were available for other menu items. This would basically be a deconstructed breakfast sandwich. I was so happy upon her return that the kitchen agreed to accommodate. My out of town guest was happy and so the rest of us ensued in placing our orders consisting of huevos rancheros, breakfast sandwich on english, and I tried the Mexican Hash. This yummy treat consisted of braised pork, cheesy hash browns, black bean pico all topped with a fried egg. Oh, and lets not forget the side of candied bacon...addictive! I'm still trying to find my way around Park Circle and discover all the favorite local spots and I'm happy to have rediscovered The Junction. While the coffee wasn't as hot as I prefer, which is often the case with a self serve pump dispenser, the food was delicious and the service was friendly. Most important, the customer service hit the spot. I'm quite sure we will be back to sample another round of favorites. read more

Wow what a find! Totally wasn't expecting to love this place.. even though the reviews are great and it's in one of my favorite areas. But here we are.. impressed and fully satisfied with my brunch experience the other day. The tostada was so light and crunchy.. and the whole meal just had so many fresh flavors. I am a sucker for anything with goat cheese so having that as a topping on my breakfast really made the dish. Cute decor, busy atmosphere! Loved the self serve coffee.. and the fact you could pick your own cup. My friend ordered a mimosa and loved it!! Will be visiting here again to try some other yummy foods!! read more

Amazing!! Simple food turned up a notch! I ordered the French toast with a side of bacon and eggs. Sooo yummy. The French toast was full of flavor and grilled perfectly. There was a bourbon, pecan, brown sugar butter on the French toast that was divine. Only complaint would be 3-4 pieces of bacon included in a side. Only 2 pieces came in the side of bacon. I had blood orange mimosas and they were delicious. One of the best mimosas I've ever had. read more

This place is a hidden gem!! We went there for brunch. The mimosas were delish!! I recommend the blood orange mimosa. I forgot the name of what I ordered. It was a vegetarian plate. The mushrooms taste just like bacon. It was pretty amazing!! I highly recommend this place to everyone but you better make a reservation. We got there 5 mins before they opened and there was already a line formed on the sidewalk. The customer service was spot on. There is also a coffee bar located right when you come in. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this food. The drinks were good and well made. The Sunday special was PHENOMENAL. Absolutely "something to write home about". It was sweet and salt and well balanced. The chicken was crunchy and well fried, the waffles were fluffy and deliciously flavored. I enjoyed every bite. This place took over from Port City pizza and renovated the interior. They did a great job cleaning the place up and I like the reclaimed wood walls. Service was top notch and the menu was perfect for lunch/breakfast. I think they'd fair well with a small kids menu because this place is perfect for kids (open, above average noise, etc). We ordered the cheesesteak, club, house made chips (regular and sweet potato). The winners were hands down the club and sweet potato chips. The club didn't have typical deli sliced meat but instead thicker ham and turkey (tasted house made). I hate sweet potato fries for some reason but their chips were awesome. I was getting a little bummed that there wasn't a breakfast joint around (besides your chains) but now we have a new spot. Overall a solid place and we will be back to see the grocery/to-go area. Round 2 today: tried the breakfast menu and we were thoroughly pleased. The bacon shiitake mushrooms are awesome and the busket is delicious with the jam. Incredibly fresh and tasty ingredients. We will be back for sure. Oh, the service was top notch especially for the Park Circle area. read more
Conjunction junction, what's your function? It's a song, right? I didn't just make that up? Yelp led us to the Junction Kitchen for brunch on a gloomy, tropical stormy weekend day. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of breakfast, lunch, and brunch specials offered. I chose the Mexican hash, and when it came out, the portion felt a little small, but it was probably appropriately sized... I was just greedy and wanted more hash browns! Flavorful pork, perfectly cooked over easy egg, salsa: great textures and flavor combos! Husband was happy with his biscuits and gravy, and the cheese grits sure do come out piping hot since he burned his tongue! Reasonable prices and prompt service! I reco it! read more

Well I have to say that I was a bit let down this time around with The Junction Kitchen. I didn't feel that the same attention to detail held during weekend brunch was there this particular morning. There were dirty coffee mugs on the rack of the self serve coffee bar and while the food has always been cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor, this time it just wasn't that way. For breakfast I ordered the toad in the hole. Over medium egg in rye, candied bacon and swiss mornay. The dish sounded great but this particular morning it just wasnt executed well, twice. The bacon was soft and too undercooked for my liking and my over medium eggs were hard and overcooked. I did confirm with the server that the eggs were supposed to be runny. She confirmed they were and gladly took the dish back to the kitchen. And while I appreciated that the kitchen made me a new order, the dish still wasn't executed well. The eggs were now completely underdone. I did indeed have a runny yolk but with raw egg as well. I didn't bother again for the sake of time. In hindsight I would've also omitted the swiss mornay sauce. It was too heavy in texture, bland in taste, and didn't add anything to the dish. The service was good and I appreciated the effort but what kept me coming back was the food and this time I left feeling disappointed. read more
One word. Awesome! This place is a real gem hidden in North Charleston. I was skeptical at first because I usually don't go to this part of town and Spruill Avenue used to be associated with sketchy places. However, this place was a real surprise! They have a kinda vintage Southern Homey feeling to the restaurant due to their vintage interior design and unique decorations. I went with some friends here for Sunday Funday Brunch. They were somewhat busy, but we were seated without a wait in a booth by the bar. Our server was nice and gave us helpful recommendation on what was good since it was our first time here. The Food: We ordered the Buzzed Donut and the House Cured Salmon Bagel. The buzzed donut comes with bacon that has a hint of coffee flavor, egg, and shredded hashbrowns. The Salmon Bagel was fresh and the combo of the salmon, arugula, and goat cheese made my taste buds explode! The entree portions were decently sized at a reasonable price. I came here for the donut originally. Ended up getting the buzzed donut sandwich with hash brown. The hash browns were very greasy and no flavor. The donut itself wasn't fresh. The mocha glaze was pretty good. Overall I would not recommend. The waitress I had wasn't very friendly. We waited 45 mins and I left still hungry and not satisfied. read more

How are the portion?
I agree with Todd that the food portions seem smaller. However, what I got was very tasty. In fairness, I didn't leave hungry either. That happens to me some places.
