I really really wanted to give the Junction 5 stars as I waited in a long line with other people for them to open on a Saturday morning. We were seated right away and both ordered coffee. They have a self serve coffee stand and cute mismatched mugs. I was so excited for the coffee but it fell flat for me and was too burnt for my taste. I ordered the donut and pork belly bowl. The donut came with maple syrup and looked delicious. I am a self proclaimed donut snob but this one was disappointing. It was way too fried and greasy and still is giving me stomach issues hours later. I wanted to be amazed by the pork belly bowl after my sad donut experience but was greeted with cold grits and mediocre pork pieces on the side. Get up early if you want to eat brunch here, especially on the weekends because it could be a 45min to an hour wait. I got there at 10am and got seated around 10:30. They do not take reservations. You have to put your name down, and then they will call you. Buzzed Donut: Bacon is rubbed with Coffee and the sandwich is made out of donuts! The mocha sauce that comes with it is highly recommended from my boyfriend for any mocha coffee and bfast sandwich lovers out there. Biscuits and Gravy side: This is another $6. It's a lot for a side. The gravy was delicious, but the food was a bit cold and the biscuit was way too crunchy. Mom's Tomato and Onion Pie: Super good! The cheese on top was great and I wished I had more slices because you don't get full from one slice of this pie. The arugula salad had a sweet tomato dressing that went along really well with the pie. Complaints: I have to re-emphasize that the biscuits were very hard, and the food was a bit cold. The biscuits are to die for. Do not skip them. Self serve coffee bar means you can chat with your dining partners about cup selection and sweetness ratios. The brew was hot and tasty. Huevos rancheros was good. I liked that it wasn't super sauced so that even the broken yolk didn't turn the crispy tortilla into mush. My partner enjoyed the chicken and waffle, but she's comparing all biscuits to the one she loved at The Junction. Today we had our first lunch here.. .definitely not our last. First and foremost the staff...they all "want to be there" is my way of describing staff hospitality and people skills. Food was just delightful with so many different intriguing items on the brief menu. Drink menu is a ditto. Was put on a waiting list because the kitchen was behind. That's understandable. However, after 20 minutes we started seeing other people that came after us get a table. So, we went in to ask because we never got a text. They checked and we were somehow not on the list anymore. No apology or anything. It seems of high repute but I wasn't able to impress myself here. Minimal parking existed for this nondescript little building. The menu offered a couple of vegetarian/vegan things-I was hoping there would be more specials I would discover in person than on the online menu but this was not the case. A grapefruit juice yielded nothing but a store bought bottle poured over ice. They had plenty of coffee but not much in the way of tea or other non-alcoholic beverages. The vegan Mexican hash was a tasty mix of shredded potatoes, beans, and a bit of greens and guacamole. It was fine, but not really worth going out of one's way and paying twelve bucks for. I couldn't rationalize myself as to why I'd wait in the line that was developing by the time I left. This place didn't do anything terribly wrong, but I've had better brunches in Charleston. Stopped by for lunch. Ordered the club sandwich. Service was extremely slow. Arrived at 12:08, ordered at 12:14 and didn't receive our meals until 12:52. Prior to receiving out food, I asked the waitress for an ETA. I informed her it had been about 40 minutes since we came in and she laughed at me and told me it hadn't. COVID update- We recently had brunch here with some friends and their pup. I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of outdoor seating available, so we quickly grabbed a table outdoors. All of the staff were wearing masks and signage indicated masks were to be worn when not dining at a table. The menu was set up via QR code, which I have become a big fan of. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and made sure to bring a water bowl out for Griff (the dog) which he VERY much appreciated! Also - the owner came out with some bacon that he got to enjoy (so now he's spoiled)! On to the meal! We shared a carafe of blood orange mimosa (had to wait until 10 am for this, be prepared). I decided on the chicken and croissant french toast and it was AMAZING. I could eat this every day. Why more people aren't making french toast out of croissants is beyond me, because now I never want to have it another way. The chicken was moist (ugh, that word) and the pecan (?) butter really brought the dish together! All around, the food was amazing (per usual) and the staff were friendly (also, per usual). My daughter order the Mexican Hash, and it lives up to all the great reviews. I had the buzzed donut. It was so very yummy. The mocha sauce was especially sweet and unique. We split a piece of tomato and onion pie that tasted like it came from grandma's oven. The coffee bar -- it deserves a special note. The coffee is especially good. It was smooth and not bitter. I could have drank 10 cups! The wait staff is very friendly and make great recommendations. We overheard lots of locals speak to eating there regularly. Get there early! By 10, there is a wait. Notably, they have lots of benches around for those waiting. There's outdoor and indoor seating available. We had Father's Day brunch for 8 adults and 2 kids at The Junction today. We had no reservations so we expected a long wait. The young man at the front podium was very patient and kind, kept us updated on the wait time, and answered all our questions. He was also able to seat our large party of 10 inside and by the window, which we greatly appreciated. The seating was perfect for our large group and we were thankful to eat indoors. Our waitress was also very kind and patient even though she was extremely busy with the place being packed. It took awhile to receive our food but we enjoyed everything we ordered. As a Charlestonian and foodie, we were excited to see tomato pie on a local restaurant menu. Looking at the menu and the Junction's high reviews, we came with great expectations. However after sitting waiting an hour and a half, ordering a second round of drinks and then being told by our waitress two of the chefs were new, we finally got our meal right before close of business. The manager did not take the time to come speak to us nor apologize for the delay, only for his/her message to be relayed by our kind waitress and our drinks to be comped (only after we said addressed the prolonged wait for our lunch). On our way to the airport I Yelped for a brunch spot and pleasantly discovered this establishment. We received a super friendly greeting and grabbed two seats at the bar that had just been vacated and were quickly cleaned up. Coffee was self serve which I thought was unique and offered unlimited refills - the coffee was pretty good I may add. The menu offers a bit of all kinds of things, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and so on. We settled on the cheesesteak which was super yummy with tender steak, the right amount of cheese, grilled onions that were sweet as well as soft and with just enough crunch and peppers that added the right flavor profile. My wife hesitantly ordered the Monte Cuban (syrup on the side) and once she took a bite she did not put it down. The best way to describe this is a Cuban sandwich meets French toast which you would think savory and sweet at the same time... no way, but let me tell you the bite that I snuck in made my eyes open wide - stroke of genius on that combo. It does not need the syrup at all. Also suggested are the bloody mary's (we had the tangy one) which although I certainly have had better they were tasty.
