Pasta salad that comes with po boy
    Gary R.

Found him in Wahiawa tonight in the Dots parking lot. Had the chicken gumbo and the catfish po boy. The gumbo was delicious, dark, not to thick and the right amount of heat. I will definitely order it again. The catfish po boy was ono, two large pieces, slaw and again the right amount of heat. I hope he comes back next week because his food was ono.

Chicken jambalaya and Mac and cheese

I really wanted to like the food I ordered today. I hate writing not great reviews, but I felt it was needed. We ordered the fresh oyster special plate that came with Mac and cheese and chicken jambalaya. We also ordered the grilled shrimp Po'boy that came with a side of jambalaya. Fresh oyster special plate: The oysters were fried in quite a lot of batter, but overall with the sauce was good. Mac and cheese: There was not enough cheese or flavoring. It tasted like cooked macaroni with a slight hint of cheese for flavoring. Jambalaya: The rice was flavorless. It seemed to have been cooked without the sauce vs stewed with the sauce. There were very, very small shreds of chicken. The best part was the 1 grilled shrimp, which was flavored very well. Grilled shrimp po'boy: The grilled shrimp was the best part! It was the same as the one included in my jambalaya. There was more cold slaw than I expected. Overall, I would only order the grilled shrimp from here again unless there's a significant change in flavor for all of the above dishes.

This was my first visit. I passed by their wagon & saw it open, so I looked them up here on yelp. I wanted to try the grilled shrimp po'boy sandwich but I got the fried shrimp po'boy sandwich instead. It came with a side, so my husband got me the pasta salad. I haven't had Cajun food in almost 10 years, so it was like a new experience to me all over again. I enjoyed my sandwich very much. Very spicy. It goes perfectly with the pasta salad. I do plan on going back to try their different sandwiches & I definitely recommend them if you are in Ewa Beach.

Sherod is the chef at the Kajun Connection ... and he is legit. I asked them to be a part of our event because another vendor had to bail at the last minute. I was worried about late additions, but they pulled through on all levels with flying colors. The only issue was that because we got them so late he didn't have the time to make his famous gumbo for our event which I know everyone was bummed about and wanted to try. Well, we just have to bring him again next time then :) We tried his grilled shrimp po' boy ... and asked him to hold the bread (we aren't doing bread right now) he tossed in a couple extra shrimp and the side slaw was outta this world. He knows how to cook, and I know, I have a chef in my house too. The flavors were layered with the acidity, the savory, the sauce for the shrimp all so delicious. I heard his food was good, and it did not disappoint. Thank you Chef Sherod. Yummy Yum Yum. OH, and they even brought chairs and tables to the event for their guests to sit. Soooo thoughtful.

I found this truck while trying to figure out amongst a line of food trucks what to have for lunch. As I took a second look at the menu, the chef asked if I'd figured out what I was gonna get, and I asked how the shrimp po boy was--so glad I did! I was three bites in before I remembered to get a pic, but the flavor was amazing! Freshly fried shrimp that were plump and juicy, and I was happily surprised by the kick of spice from the slaw! And all on a slightly sweet, toasted bun. Absolutely worth the stop! I wish I'd tried the pasta salad, but maybe next time!

    Gumbo!! Delish!

Yummmmmm!!!! Five stars as far as food trucks go. This guy is EXTREMELY friendly. Great service! He can get busy at times, so there can be a wait. Maybe 5 -10 minutes. My favorite is fried shrimp po boy sub gumbo for chips. Shrimp is cooked with a perfect crunch. The bread is toasted with butter. Oh yum. The sauce - oh the sauce!!! Can't get a po boy without the side sauce. Makes sure you don't forget it. It forgot it once, and I was a little sad that my po boy sandwich was missing that flavor, but I was still happy. The gumbo is loaded up and comes with a scoop of jasmine rice at the bottom. Sooooo much flavor!!! Filled with veggies and meat. Super spicy! Flavor spicy and temperature spicy! We also got a side of pasta salad, which I could do without. It wasn't bad but compared to the flavors of everything else, you don't need to get the pasta salad. Whenever I see this food truck I get so excited. Worth it!!

First, the actual plates aren't close to the portions pictured in prior reviews. We ordered the Smoked Chicken which was more like "Skimpy" Chicken soaked in vinegar. The Pork Adobo was drenched with "sweet/sour sauce" which left a lasting aftertaste in your mouth. The Pork Ribs were actually the closest to previous pictured plates - tasted like "salt and vinegar" instead of "salt and pepper" - still skimpy (little meat covering huge bone inside)! Their "garlic noodles" had so much garlic that I'm sure that Vampires and Draculas will stay away from me for a week. The rice tasted like "day-old refrigerated" rice which was microwaved. I becomes solid if not eaten immediately. So shame. I can't imagine the other selections are any better so I'll just refrain from returning again. I would not eat this food even if you gave it to me for free. I believe you'll get a bigger bang for your buck by using the BOGO coupon at Loco Moco Kapolei located in the same mall.

Our experience with Bobby started with private a tasting in their lounge of a few of the things we were hoping to have on our menu. We tried two mains, a salad and a few sides... when I say everything was a smash it, i really mean it! Our package included a third main and we honestly told him he could pick what to bring because obviously he knows how to cook- it'd be impossible to choose! For our wedding we had the kalbi shortribs, garlic shrimp, and huli huli chicken for our mains. Our salad was the one with the warm bacon dressing (OMG DELICIOUS), and we also had truffle mashed potatoes, a ratatouille, rice and i think 3 appetizers. It was ALL so good. Our guests have been raving about it since. Not only was the food to die for, but also the service before and during the wedding too! we had a few dietary restrictions to accommodate and Bobby was so easy to work with and already had ideas ready to go. Then there's the wait staff - who brought my husband and I full plates of everything first, before anyone else. So many people say they don't get to eat at their own weddings and they made sure that DIDNT happen to us. I was still so anxious that I didn't clear my plate but everything i DID eat was just as good as the tasting. The staff stayed and helped my coordinator for the rest of the night as well. After dinner they boxed up all the leftover food for us to take home and I was so happy for that! Since I didn't eat a ton at my own wedding I got to house all of the leftovers with our families. The taste, the value, the service... it really can't be beat. We've already decided we'll be tracking down his foodtruck whenever we can!

We chose this restaurant specifically because I called 2-3 weeks ahead of time to ask about the fryers. I have a food allergy and was assured that seafood was cooked in a separate fryer, so I would be able to safely enjoy the fried items. One of my friends even called separately and was given the same information. When we arrived, I reminded our server about my allergy and told him what I had been told. He reassured me that they would take care of me. I ordered onion rings and was SO excited. Unfortunately, he later came back and told me the kitchen said there was actually no way to safely prepare fried food because everything was fried together. I was devastated. We had planned dinner here specifically so I could enjoy things like onion rings and fries. Thankfully, my friends spoke with the manager, who offered to have my chicken fried steak pan-fried using fresh oil. I shared it with a friend along with mashed potatoes and green beans, and the food itself was delicious. Unfortunately, later that evening I began showing signs of an allergic reaction and ultimately had to leave the dancing portion of my birthday celebration early. By the time I got home, I was in significant pain and seriously considered going to the hospital. I have no way of knowing exactly where the cross-contamination occurred, but the bottom line is that my allergy was communicated to the restaurant repeatedly -- by me when I arrived, by our server, by the kitchen, and by the manager -- and I still had a reaction. Our server was kind and attentive, although understandably a little flustered at times since we learned it was his first night. This is not a criticism of him personally. He actually was great. I had previously left this location a 4-star review after another visit and included several photos from that experience. I have removed that review and replaced it with this one because when it comes to food allergy safety, I don't think there is room for flexibility or uncertainty. I don't want my previous review giving anyone with food allergies the wrong impression. If you have a food allergy, I would not recommend eating here.
