Tried to use Katy plumping to get a shower cap changed as I was travelling, but they charged us a whopping $125 to change a shower cap. Initially when I had called in to check, they mentioned that they do not have any minimum charges for the work, but after complaining the service manager called me to say that the minimum for any work is $125. They mentioned sending our trucks to a location (even when they were at Katy) was an expensive affair. Would not recommend them to anyone. Very very expensive. read more

Wow. Had I read some of the negative reviews below, I may not have called this company. I'm glad I did though. The whole experience was positive, and I felt like I got a good value for the service they provided me. My plumbing technician, Mark, and his assistant were right on time, and they did a thorough job of fixing our problems, and left my bathrooms clean. If you like spending 5x more than you should for sink installation go ahead and use Katy Plumbing. A very knowledgeable guy came over and looked at my job. Install a double bowl cast iron sink and remove the old one. I had purchased all the parts (sink, drains, and pipe) and the quote was over 1000.00 REALLY... almost 500 just to pull the old sink and drop the new sink in...... almost 400 to hook up the drain hookups. I have used and been a customer of Katy Plumbing for many years, but no more. Katy Plumbing should be ashamed of themselves for the blatant and obvious PRICE GAUGING OF FLOOD VICTIMS! Since my home was devastated in flood caused by opening the dam, I and others in the neighborhood are taking the opportunity to replace our vertical galvanized pipes since the homes are already down to the studs. Katy Plumbing had done my horizontal pipes several years ago for a reasonable price that was in line with what others were paying in the neighborhood. The man they sent out to my house on Tuesday was such an obvious con man my radar was up instantly. He quotes $15,000 but since I was such a loyal customer and if I bought the customer program for $69 it would come down to "only $11,900". This sounded well outside of the market and exceed a quote I received that included drywall work two years ago. I reached out to my neighbors on our blog as well as receiving other quote from two other companies. The quotes I received $5200 and $5500. My neighbors responses showed a price range of $4800 - $5800 which is likely due to variables in number of bathrooms on the first floor (some masters are up and some are 1st floor in the neighborhood). So Long story short, EVERYONE BEWARE of KATY PLUMBING! Especially my FELLOW FLOOD VICTIMS. To Katy Plumbing: You will see this post come through the BBB as well as the Price Gauging complaint I am filing with the TX Attorney General that is up on my other screen as we speak. Great job by Katy Plumbing. They give me a two hour window, always call just before they show up, very professional. Their office people are always well informed and a pleasure to talk to. Impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the folks that show up at your house. I had multiple jobs including installing a vanity I supplied. The unit was damaged that they identified. They actually went to Loews with me as new one would not fit in my car. Mark and his helper were very helpful and patient as it took us about three hours to get the new one with out any defects and I was not charged for this extra time. Replaced the kitchen faucet, had an excellent selection on his truck. Put in a Grohe, my wife still says she loves it everyday. Awesome plumbing service. I called to get some estimates on getting some work done and was promptly schedules in. The plumber came on time and was very polite and went through all my plumbing needs answering all my question while still giving me advice on what my options were. The plumber never pressured me into anything while still giving me a breakdown of all the pricing (which was significantly cheaper than capital plumbings quote) and availability. It doesn't matter who they sent to fix the plumbing issues at my house, they all provided me with the best service. This is the 3rd time I used them and my membership with them worths every penny. Last Saturday, the sprinkler back flow valve was broken due to the extreme cold in Houston. They replaced the new valve for me, and educated me how to prevent it from blowing off next time. Daniel came over to check a leak that i had in my shower which was recently remodeled. He verified that the shower pan and the newly installed tile on one of the shower walls was installed incorrectly and was the source of the leak, not the plumbing. This saved me from having to do a complete shower demo and around $2000. I give Katy Plumbing a lot of credit for coming over because this is an additional problem and expense that I now have to incur from a contractor that they have occasionally subbed out work to. Called them because we were having a hard time lighting our hot water heaters after an issue with the gas. It was a Saturday, so they said it would be a $125.00 trip fee. Did not really like this but had them come out anyway. They lit (4) hot water heaters and were here for about a hour (of actual work), charged $667.00. We hired Katy Plumbing to help us fix a leaky sink in our kitchen. Turns out the garbage disposal was leaking and needed to be replaced. It was replaced with a brand new unit that's so quiet my wife and I can barely hear it work! Later, we found there'd been some kind of drain clog and Katy Plumbing sent out a new plumber to take care of it at no charge even though he was here for almost two hours. It was great service. Had a nasty sewage back up, I just wanted an estimate on repairs. They wanted $300 to climb on the roof to find the clean out trap. No thanks, I can fall off my roof for free. They also estimated 3500 for the fix. I later found a place that did it for around 1650. The other crew even cleaned up after themselves. Go elsewhere, Katy Plumbinh Co. Is expensive. They also called me several times in one night about 6 weeks after the estimate to ask them if I was happy about the work they did. !?? Manage your data, people! Bad News Plumbing Company - Called to have faucet fixed on master bathtub and indicated that threads were stripped. Katy Plumbing fixed the problem for $185, which I assumed included the fixing of the threads. What they did was simply put plumbers tape on the threads and put the faucet back on. A week later the faucet blew off and 80% of our house became flooded. Very inconvenient, since we were unable to live in our home for 2 months while house was rebuilt. Extreme poor decision made by Katy Plumbing employee. It gets worse - they also took a look at our hot water heater and told us the hot water heater was in good shape, but needed to have some of the connections replaced. We agreed to letting them do this, as this was still on the first trip and prior to the faucet blow out. Once they completed this work we noticed that our hot water heater was not working anymore. So we asked them to come take a look at it and they now claimed we needed a new hot water heater. The new one did not work either and then they checked the source to find out that the gas was turned off. So we got a new hot water heater unnecessarily. On top of that they also torn up the attack entry way in the ceiling. Following this work our Comcast connectivity stopped working - again caused by the incompetent Katy Plumbing staff. They hooked up a trouble light in our attic and unplugged the Comcast connection - which took about 4 days of hassling Comcast before I discovered what they had done. President George Johnson was unwilling to compensate us for the trouble caused by his staff and the poor workmanship provided by his lousy staff. Way overpriced and shady business model. A leaking cold water shut- off valve under a bathroom sink prompted my wife to call Katy Plumbing. Simple job that should have involved changing out a $10 valve turned into a $338 bill for a changeout of everything under the sink. I have no objection to changing out the other valve and both flex hoses, but this job by the average plumber would be less than $150. In addition to the cost, this company tries to sell you a one-year plan for current and future discounts. So their approach is to inflate the heck out of the job at hand, and then try to convince you pay a $69-$99 "discount plan". The final invoice shows no breakdown of parts, labor, and tax just a sticker price cooked up by their salesman plumber. She rejected the extra charges, but we were stuck with the grossly overpriced job. I called to speak with a manager for an explanation and breakdown of the charges. I'm still waiting for the call back. Bottomline- if you want a good, honest plumber, call someone else. If you want to pay way more than the job warrants and like "used car salesman" type marketing, call Katy Plumbing! read more

I've had better service, Never been blind sided by a service company before. The plumber did not show up until after 2pm and The leasing agent told us he would be there the next morning( after 3 days of no water in the house). Then the plumber had call out for help and pipe. They replaced the old metal pipe with Clear plastic pipe and left each work area a mess. not one bit of clean up was done. Here's the thing that got me upset. The Tech was nice to mine and my wife's face. But then reported things(Rat's running ramping in the house, The walls were furrier and we were worst than Trailer park trash) to the Home owner(By passing the leasing agent). Then this week we Find Black mold in one of the areas they were working in and did not even report it anyone. TO date according to the leasing agent, Katy Plumbing has not returned her calls regarding any of the issue at the time of service and why the BLACK mold was not reported. read more
