Deeply unprofessional and condescending -- beware if you're a tourist or person of color. I had an extremely uncomfortable experience at The Key West Mail Room -- one that mirrors what others (like Divya N.) have already shared here. The man working there was rude, dismissive, and weirdly antagonistic from the moment I walked in. He asked if I had "postage and stamps" while I was holding a stamped postcard -- a question that made no practical sense and came off as a smug attempt to undermine me. When I chose to leave the store (quietly and without a scene), he continued talking at me as if I were still standing there, like he needed to perform for the one other customer in the room. It was surreal -- and deeply unprofessional. Only later did I find out they're not even on Google Maps, which I now realize may be intentional. It allows them to operate without accountability, avoid negative attention, and keep mistreating people -- especially tourists and people of color. If you're in Key West and need to mail something, do yourself a favor and go to the official USPS Post Office at 400 Whitehead Street -- the staff there know what they're doing and treat people with basic respect. Tourists beware: this is not the kind of local charm you're hoping for. This is the kind of place that makes you feel small, confused, and unwelcome. Don't waste your time. read more

Avoid at all costs! (Unless you like delays and lies) Was given a painting during my holidays in Key West and needed to ship it home. Trusted James (owner) of the Key West Mail Room to ship it to me. He said it would go FedEx ground and he would get it shipped promptly. Weeks go by and the tracking number he gave me shows it is not given to FedEx. I tried calling over a dozen times but the phone just rings and then goes to voicemail that cannot take your message because it is full. I found an email address for the store (via their old Facebook profile) and emailed that.... no response. After two weeks, I had to send a local friend to the store to ask James where my painting was and when it would ship. He was told that the delay was due to having to order a box to ship the painting in. He promised it would be sent on Tuesday. LIES!! LIE 1: He didn't ship it that Tuesday, he waited until Friday. This was 3 weeks after I paid him to ship the painting! LIE 2: Then, it arrived in a "box" that was cobbled together by taping together some used Amazon boxes. The painting was placed inside another used box that originally shipped "Stacey M" her Kasper brand dress. (I know because the original shipping label was still on it!) The only nice things I can say is that it did not arrive damaged and that FedEx was faster to get it to me than I expected, considering it was shipped via ground service. Why one star? Because YELP won't let me give zero stars. AVOID!!! Go to another shipping store instead. read more

Very unreliable. Stopped by today at 10:15 and 1:00, trying to mail a package; not open on what should be a regular work day, no sign saying when they might bother to open. Weren't open last Friday afternoon, either. This "business" does not post its hours; seems to be open only when the owner decides to crawl out of bed or out of the bar. read more

We've been wintering in KW for 7 years. Last year I used pretty much all their services. If you've ever visited the KW post office it will be well worth a few dollars to have your mail sent here instead. - Personal, efficient, professional service. James the owner is great and truly interested in doing the very best for his customers. James has worked for corporations and understands how both large and small businesses operate. - If you set up a mailbox you can have Amazon orders etc. sent here. An important package held here is far preferable to the post office. If you need shipping supplies or help, a Key West mailing address or just an alternative to the post office, this is the place to go! Say hi to James for me. read more

We have used this facility for two seasons and we have been somewhat disappointed in the fact that only one person is usually working and if they have anything else to take care of....shop closes‍ No consistent open business hours are the main reason we will likely try somewhere else next season ‍. This place says they open at 10am but they don't we called them at 1005am after waiting for them to open. A man said they would be open at 1030am. Well 1030 came and went and still no one there. One with think there is much funner things to do in Key West then waiting for somebody to open up so you can give them your money. Don't waste your time ship your stuff from the airport. read more

At the end of a 7 night, 8 day fabulous time in Key West we found ourselves out of suitcase for quite a bunch of 'stuff' purchased that week. We called Bob, who with a remarkably positive attitude assured us he'd take care of it. We arrived loaded down with our loot and Bob was just terrific. What a helpful demeanor! He charged shipping and minimally for packaging. Our 'stuff' arrived exactly when he said it would and in perfect condition. He bubble wrapped all valuables and didn't miss anything - receipts, everything was in there! Having this service available and having it provided by someone who cared was a huge relief. In all my years of existence, I have never seen a place with a WORSE customer service. The owner is RUDE RUDE RUDE and shows ZERO respect for his customers. He opened an HOUR late and when I asked why he WOULD NOT respond to my question. He also didn't have answers to my questions for pricing or why his email or phone service wouldn't work. Whenever I asked something he would say "I already answered that or I just answered that" with absolutely NO REGARD to the fact that I had just wasted my time waiting for him to open up the store. He COMPLAINED the whole time of how much work he had to do and how his customers were a nuisance. He was absolutely RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL and INSULTING. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. Three of us were doing a triathlon in Key West and needed to ship our bikes in boxes to the race. We chose FedEx and The Mail Room is the local FedEx drop-off/pickup location. We called ahead and Bob assured us that he had room to store the boxed bikes until we arrived. The minute they did he called to inform us. Then he took care of the return for us after the race. Of course this is what all ship[ping services do but his helpful, fast and efficient attitude made a very positive impression on us. It's great when you have a task to do that are concerned about being done correctly and someone says" don't worry, I'll take care of it" and you know they will. read more

We always arrive in Key West with packed carry-on luggage and never have room for things we purchase for the return trip. We could pack an extra bag to fill but never want to hassle with extra luggage on the ferry and on the three different flights it takes us to get home. The Mail Room is easily found on Duval, or off of Simonton. For three years now, we've used them to mail all sorts of things home. Bob is incredible! He carefully packs things for safe shipping, and always advises us on our most economical shipping option. They provide all of the tape, bubble wrap, air pockets, boxes, envelopes or anything else you might need without a bunch of extra charges. We are so grateful for the service they provide! read more

To avoid dragging so much through the Atlanta airport, we decided to ship some of our luggage and purchases home. Rather than enduring the post office, we went to the Mail Room. They found the lowest cost shipping and took care of everything for us. We were extra impressed when both boxes arrived home a day early and all the items were packed incredibly well. The clerk even offered and filled up our water bottle before we went back out into the 90+ degree day. We'll definitely be visiting them again when we go back to Key West. read more
