The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are modern but still warm and inviting and the hotel staff is wonderful. They are friendly and accommodating and make you feel welcome. Although the hotel is upscale and has a modern aesthetic, it does not feel pretentious or cold. I had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic night out or even a nice place to stay for work. Solid place, but overpriced. The Trump across the street made much more of an impression. Looks like a business building outside. Rooms were very nice but unless you get a suite or penthouse don't expect a great vie (it will be blocked by the Trump). Service was good. Access to Club lounge was cool. Again for the money there are much more impressive hotels in the city, a little too much hype for this place, save your money. read more

Nice. We spent our first night of our honeymoon therein the way to Colorado. We usually stay at the four seasons Chicago, but decided to try something new and different. We should have gone back to the Four Seasons.... The Langham is nice, no question. It's difficult to get in and out of, it's not on Michigan Avenue, the views are not on parallel as the Four Seasons. I guess it's great if you have business on Wacker, but I'd rather be on the miracle mile.. The rooms ARE nice, the staff ARE attentive, but next visit, it's back to the Four Seasons.. read more

I heartily agree with all of the positive reviews of the Langham. As a treat to ourselves, we decide to spend a few nights at the Langham. Simply great. We had a room overlooking the river, which turned out to be a great place to watch a thunderstorm roll through the city. The service and the staff were fantastic. Everything you would want a great hotel. We had a dinner and a lunch at the Travelle Kitchen + Bar. We found the food do not meet our expectations, good but not great. Of course, our expectations had been raised by the rest of the hotel. I highly recommend the Langham. read more

One of the best stays I have ever had! This is what they mean when people talk about luxury. The location was amazing we were literally close to EVERYTHING! We only a grabbed a cab/uber twice and it was to go to and from the airport, all other outings we could walk to. The staff is so friendly every time we went to walk out the door they would be there already turning the revolving doors for us and asking if they could help with directions or to get a cab for us or offer a food recommendation. Every morning we had espresso from the espresso machine in the room. This was by far a great stay all around. read more

Tea: I went this afternoon to Langham with a few women for tea. The service was exceptional, 5 stars. The tea area, off of the Lobby, is very pretty, very modern. Wonderful pianist playing in background. The tea was very good. I am gluten free and I was happy to hear when I made reservations that they had special gluten free tea sandwiches. The sandwiches were just okay and very small. I think I had 4 small bites. They served scones and muffins and I was really hoping they would have some type of gluten free biscuit, or anything I could spread the delicious looking Devonshire cream on. But alas, nothing. While the two other women had muffins, scones, lavender eclairs, and little tarts, I had 2 small cookies ... Waaaahh!!! (but they were delicious). So...great experience, but with what I spent for the amount of food I got, unfortunately not worth going again. (I'm on my way home to eat! I'm starving!:) read more

We stayed here in August and were very impressed. We opted for the Club level and most of the services were stellar. The room was attractive and clean. We especially liked the lounge area and the food / drinks available. The Butler wasn't around quite as much as we expected, and the housekeeping had to be called repeatedly before they came for the turndown service. It was quiet and the hallways smelled very nice. Arranging for a limousine with the concierge was easy and even fun. Altogether a rich and rewarding hotel experience. We will be returning. read more

I took my mom here for afternoon tea and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had a beautiful view from our table and the service was excellent! The hotel itself, the physical building, interior, is definitely 5 star. Very beautiful. One of the best interior designs I've seen. Low key luxury. In complete contrast of the hotel across-trump tower. The service was not great but "okay" which it should be great for that price range - I didn't really like the brunch place they have(maybe that should be in another review but it was included of my experience of the stay) where I waited to check into my room since my flight landed in the early am. I didn't really feel welcomed there by the employees and yeah not too happy with that when I'm paying more than 500 bucks a night. The food from room service wasn't super tasty and I think the server wanted to be tipped even though the price already includes a service fee AND a delivery fee. For the sake of how beautiful I think the building is, I think it would be worth it to try the rooms that are on the higher levels, I think they have their own place to check in/ a exclusive lounge area and have a butler. It was a nice hotel but I think the service should be spectacular overall including the restaurants that are a part of the hotel. Unfortunately it couldn't get a better rating from me. The spa is expensive but good. read more

Definitely the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. Their least expensive room category, the Deluxe, was insanely large and luxurious...you don't need to spring for the more expensive room category to be completely spoiled and satisfied with your stay here. Our room had a large marble tiled foyer, plenty of closets with a vanity area, bathroom with double sinks, rain shower and deep soaking tub, and a large bedroom with a 60 inch flat screen tv on the wall. Only downside for us was their parking fee...a hefty $70 per night. To save money, we parked the car somewhere else two blocks away for $39 per night. read more

Went to the Wedgwood afternoon tea in The Pavilion. What a fabulous experience! Gorgeous decor, superb service & great tea/bites. Special thanks to manager Dawid who came over to check on us and made sure we had our champagne glasses filled. Our server Paul walked us through the menu and help guide us with tea selections. He taught us a few things and was so kind to check our bags and walk us to the bar afterwards. The bar was also another hit! Ryan walked us through some specialty cocktails and the views of the river are an added bonus. We will be back for tea, drinks, the spa & a staycation soon enough! read more

This place is simply pure luxury. I've stayed at Ritz Carlton's and Mandarin Orientals, but this is the next level of luxury. The service, the food, the ambiance, the rooms. It's simply pure luxury. I can see why it was rated as Chicago's #1 hotel. It is simply an impeccable stay. There is a breakfast restaurant across the street also if you don't want to eat in the hotel. It's a short walk to Michigan Avenue. The only drawback to this place--not any fault of the hotel--is that it's incredibly difficult for Uber and Lyft drivers to find. There are upper and lower decks in this area, and the drivers seem to get constantly lost. Just as an FYI if calling a car, you may want to allot extra time for the driver to get lost and try to look for the hotel. Otherwise, this place is fantastic, and it will be my go-to hotel in Chicago (if the price is right!). read more

I have stayed at many 5 star hotels all over the world and the Chicago Langham is the best hotel I have ever experienced. The location is wonderful for activities in downtown Chicago. It is easy to find and is a striking building -- and since it is next to the Trump tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world, you can find it anywhere by sight. For an architecture buff it is a real joy to stay in an historic Mies building. I especially appreciate the desk they have on the first floor offering a small "library" of books about Chicago, architecture, and Mies. While I quibbled with some of the features being not-very-Mies-ian (mirrors on some walls, glitz) the overall effect is simplicity, calmness and elegance. And, Mies's grandson contributed to the renovation. The rooms are beautifully designed and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. I especially appreciated the nice area for dressing, the lighted closet, the deep bathtub, and the shower with the rainhead. It was a true pleasure to stay in this space where it was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into the details. The stationary in the rooms and the printed materials about the hotel itself were beautifully designed. Views out the window (actually, the views out your walls since the entire exterior is glass) are sometimes breathtaking. We ate in the tea room on the second floor near the check-in desk. The wait staff were very attentive and charming and even brought us a complimentary cheese plate which was delicious. Again, the atmosphere was clean, white, and calming and you can look outward through the glass walls and see the expanse of the river and the beautiful sparkling cityscape. Most impressive, however, was the staff. They were always attentive and friendly and I liked that they had hostesses dressed in Jackie-Kennedy-like pink suits who seemed to be everywhere on the first two floors of the hotel. They offered and delivered any help we asked for, from sending up bandaids to driving us to breakfast in a hotel car. The front desk staff remembered our names. There are a few things that can be improved -- we had to wait a couple of hours for our rooms and we had trouble figuring out how to use the coffeemaker in the room which did not have directions with it. I attribute this to the hotel's only having been open a couple of months. But these were very minor glitches in a wonderful experience overall. I would give the Langham Chicago my very highest rating!! read more

This is a review of the Langham's Afternoon Tea. In a word - Superb. The setting is beautiful. The staff couldn't be more friendly and professional. They went beyond expectations for service. Their afternoon tea service is the best Chicago has to offer (I've tried them all). Two courses - savory and dessert plus scones. All a feast for the eyes and the palate. Sandwiches were so pretty and had wonderfully unique ingredients and flavor combinations. Scones with clotted cream were perfect. Desserts were scrumptious. This was a pre-wedding gift and the bride is vegetarian and gluten free which I'd asked if they could accommodate when I made the reservation. No problem. The chef created sandwiches and desserts especially for her that were every bit as beautiful and delicious as her mother and I had. Far beyond my expectations, and she was thrilled. They have a variety of teas served in classic Wedgwood china. We tried three of their house blends; all delicious and we couldn't decide which we liked best. There's also a nice selection of champagnes by the glass or bottle. If you're looking for a little pampering and culinary treat, the Langham's afternoon tea is highly recommended. read more

What a beautiful hotel! I attended a wedding there last December. The space is amazing with floor to ceiling windows. The wedding guests had access to the entire floor. The food was superb. The service (in all areas) was fantastic. We stayed in a beautiful room the night of the wedding. Wow! The rooms are nicely decorated and extremely clean.
