Reviewing Cal's here... Had a weekend stay at the Claridge House - a really good hotel with a *great* location. Clean inside, friendly service: *definitely* recommend the hotel. Parking was a separate business next door: $60 a day {owch!} Cal's is the café inside the hotel and I'd say that it was Ok because there are so many other better options nearby worth giving a try instead for food.

First and foremost, your staff is phenomenal! They answered every question with a smile and were there whenever I needed anything during our stay. Your location is fantastic and within walking distance of many fine restaurants, bars and shopping areas. The rooms were neat, the beds comfortable and the linens and towels were of good quality. The only negative I have is the rooms need a good upgrade, but Chicago is an old city and I know these things take time. Isaac (sp?) in the lounge at night was excellent. He's so personable and helpful, and makes a really great spicy margarita! AND, the fact that you'll be part of the Hilton Tapestry family soon is exciting as I'm a Hilton girl :-). We will definitely stay again with you!

This hotel is for travelers who love vintage hotels with character and history. The hotel was clean and in a really good location. I don't like the carpet hallways, but that's from a germaphobe standpoint. Check-in was easy. Lorrie was very personable and helpful when checking us in. She informed me of all the amenities included and where they were located. I really appreciate that they have happy hour for guests with a complimentary drink starting at 5pm. There is a parking garage right next to the hotel but it's rather pricey. However, there are some loading and unloading spaces in front of the hotel.

The location is absolutely lovely. Close to everything without being in the thick of it all. The staff was absolutely wonderful from the parking team to housekeeping. Wonderful. The hallways and room leave a little to be desired. The carpet in the room was stained and it was smaller than expected. The shower door opened toward the shower head so you had to get wet to turn on the shower. Would stay again in the summer when I have less packed.

cutest & trendiest little hotel in the most central, walkable location. cannot recommend more if you're hoping to spend some time exploring the city & want to avoid excess Uber costs. everything was so close by and we walked off all of our calories! there's a little bar that serves coffee/scones etc. in the morning and then some really nifty cocktails at night. also a gorgeous looking sushi/sashimi spot you can make reservations for. I'll be honest: the room is SMALL! and a little old, but the bed is really comfy and it was all-in-all cozy at the end of the day to come home to. the staff is so attentive, texts with updates and is so quick to accommodate! we had a birthday and they left a complimentary bottle of wine and note for us upon entry. I really got used to this spot & would love to come back!

I'm the biggest whiner ever, so I understand some of the recent reviews, but IMO... -in this day, I have found that all hotels are not the same as they were 5yrs ago. -and the days of employees running to your beck and call doesn't always happen. So what does that mean for us as travelers? We must do our homework, research it. Most people shop for groceries economically, so do the same with your trips/hotels and check the boxes. That said, a few of the low ratings recently, I find to be unreasonable complaints about this hotel, such as Chicago's high prices, someone losing their own boots, an older Chicago Hotel that's not shiny new, and lack of parking! what? So, I ask many questions while choosing a place to lay our weary heads when we travel. I've learned things like, 'the handicapped rooms are on top of each other and none have a view except for a building, in fact, most rooms don't have a great view. This is not a skyscraper and the rooms are on the smaller side, but I knew that from staying at the previous Indigo. NOW, as the biggest whiner ever, I will say, If you have dirt issues, noise issues after hrs, security concerns, anything broken, or extremely rude employees, call the manager right away! WHY HAVE WE COME HERE MANY TIMES? PARKING PKG: -might be a deal breaker without. Parking your car in Chicago is a nightmare plain and simple. This checks the easy & reasonable-for-Chicago box and the best pkg we've found. Valet parking, with in and out privileges, luv it! EXPERIENCES: Example: -last August we were blown away by the General Manager, Colin Challender. He approached us in the busy lobby and ask how our stay was going. What? -hands on management, good stuff! I said it was going well, but I did mention (with no expectation) that there's a whole area in our room that is dark. He listened, and shortly after there was a knock on the door and Colin was standing there with a floor lamp! He handed me his card and said, "let me know if you need anything and let me know next time you're coming in case you need anything". Wow LOCATION AND THE IMMEDIATE AREA: -safe and families in this beautiful tree-lined residential neighborhood and a few blocks to the lake -surrounded by soooo many restaurants close by. 3rd Coast is a great little place for a bite of breakfast, Orzo's is my fav cozy Italian a couple blocks away (eat in), check out Old Pour House as a great 'open' pub w/tv's, Small Cheval for the best burgers and ff, and well ok, if I can, Hugo's Frog is a HOP away for an elegant dinner! ... on&on -and on the practical side there's a cvs, walgreens, and an Aldi's grocery in walking distance. Downtown, shopping, the Zoo, and wonderful Museums, are a shot away...

Minimal street parking and meters. But they also offer valet and there's a parking structure right beside the hotel. Hope that helps!

While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. So the JW seemed affordable within the mix...at $700+ a night... I've stayed at a few JWs across Asia and the US. For whatever reason this one didn't seem to meet JW's normally high standard. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it started with the lobby and bar. It was always overcrowded and noisy, and just didn't feel very intimate or elegant. That followed with the fact there's only one restaurant in the hotel and both times we visited it was nearly empty. It's tucked on the second floor back in the corner, and just feels like a standard obligatory hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was just odd. The room was well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and soft sheets. And the bathroom had everything we needed. But the service day-to-day required follow up. They forgot to restock coffee, water and cups a few times, and when I called the front desk they delivered in a trash bag. There is a daily service charge that I believe is $50 a night and provides Wi-Fi, access to gym, and a free class. We went to use the gym to access the sauna and steam room, but learned that's part of the spa not gym so had to pay a separate per person charge. The spa was refreshing but fairly standard. Not like the Seoul Marriott with multiple heated baths and a cold plunge. Call me spoiled. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice but for $700 a night and knowing what I know about most JW's this just seems slightly below their standard. I wouldn't pay that much again, but would come back for a more affordable rate.

I recently stayed at The St. Regis Chicago and, unfortunately, what should have been a premium…read moreluxury hotel experience turned into one of the most disappointing stays I have had with a high-end hotel brand. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I requested an early check-in and was originally given a noon check-in time. I did not actually arrive until approximately 3:30 PM, only 30 minutes before the hotel's normal 4:00 PM check-in time. When I arrived, however, my room was still not ready and the front desk could not provide any estimate for when it would be available. To their credit, I had already received a complimentary room upgrade based on availability and my Platinum Elite status. Since there was no room available, I left my vehicle and luggage with the hotel and spent some time shopping nearby. Around 5:30 PM, as I was returning to the hotel, I received a call letting me know that my room was finally ready. I was also informed that, as a customer service gesture and in recognition of my Platinum status, I had been upgraded again to the Caroline Astor Suite. The suite itself was beautiful and certainly looked the part of a luxury hotel accommodation. There were a few minor cleanliness and attention-to-detail issues, but after an already long day I did not feel they warranted making a major issue out of them. What stood out much more was the absence of the service normally associated with a hotel of this caliber. I was told that the bellhop would escort me to my suite and that a butler would come up afterward once he finished assisting guests in the lobby. The bellhop was very pleasant and professional, but the butler never arrived. There was also no turndown service, no follow-up call to make sure the suite was satisfactory, no welcome card, and no welcome amenity of any kind. No fruit, beverage, champagne, juice, or anything similar. None of these things individually would ruin a stay, but collectively they made the experience feel surprisingly ordinary for a St. Regis property. The following morning, I used the $70 breakfast credit associated with my Platinum Elite benefits and had breakfast at Miru. The restaurant and hotel surroundings are beautiful, but the dining experience was underwhelming. The service attire also felt surprisingly casual for what is presented as a five-star luxury dining environment. My server was dressed in what appeared to be jeans and a casual shirt, which simply did not match my expectations for the setting. The food was equally disappointing. The bacon was overcooked, while the sausage links were very pale, chewy, and had an unusual flavor. Even though most of the breakfast was covered by my elite credit, the quality itself was not what I expected. Unfortunately, things became significantly worse at checkout. The hotel had already placed the expected $200 incidental authorization on my credit card. However, when I received my folio, it showed a balance of approximately $170 when I was expecting approximately $99.68. At the same time, I had requested my vehicle from valet. As my luggage was being loaded into my BMW 7 Series, I noticed that the stainless steel trunk sill plate had been badly bent upward and was partially detached from the vehicle. It was not damaged when I arrived. Based on the location and nature of the damage, it appeared that something had happened while luggage was being removed or handled by the valet staff. What bothered me just as much was that no one had mentioned the damage. The valet manager came over and initially asked whether the damage had already been there. He also asked whether the vehicle was mine, which I confirmed. He told me he would review the security footage and investigate the situation. Shortly after I left, he called and said they were continuing their investigation but would begin processing a damage claim. Then, approximately two hours after leaving Chicago, I received an alert from my credit card company showing another charge from The St. Regis Chicago for $444.69. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with Ashley. I explained that the hotel had already placed its authorization on my card, that I had checked out, and that my folio itself already appeared to be incorrect. I was repeatedly assured that the $444.69 was simply a hold or an earlier authorization and that I was misunderstanding how the billing process worked. I politely explained that this was far from my first hotel stay and that I understood the difference between an authorization and a new transaction. Approximately ten minutes later, Ashley called me back and acknowledged that I had, in fact, been charged again by mistake. At that point, the experience had gone from disappointing to unacceptable. Mistakes happen at every hotel. A delayed room, a forgotten service request, an imperfect breakfast, or even a billing mistake by itself would not lead me to write a review like this. The problem was the accumulation of failures.
