We had the most incredible stay at Nobu Hotel Chicago. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming, greeting us every time we entered or left the building. The suite completely exceeded my expectations! Floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls of the bedroom, heated bathroom floors, dual sinks, a spacious soaking tub and shower, plus an in-room tablet for convenience. Having the option get room service from Nobu was the cherry on top. This is in a prime location as well - the West Loop has some of the best food and shopping in the city. TLDR; I loved every second of my stay at Nobu. I'm sad to leave and excited to come back! The vibe of this hotel is EVERYTHING! The staff are so kind and helpful. The lobby is SO peaceful. The rooms are perfect with wonderful attention to detail. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in in awhile. And the shower is a 10/10. 3.4 average rating? I get it but don't get it at the same time, that's harsh! Staff members and service are definitely 5 stars here. As soon as my husband and I checked in we were provided warm towels and a warm welcome tea. It was single digits temps when we stayed and this was thoroughly appreciated. Throughout our stay we noticed security walking the grounds at all times + other staff members going above and beyond for all their guests. Since we stayed here for our anniversary and baby moon - We were given a sweet treat (chocolates and a hand written note) that was waiting for us when we entered our room. When initially walking into the hotel - We were greeted with a very calming and therapeutic scent. It instantly sets the tone of a luxurious and relaxing stay. Every corner was clean and immaculate. The tranquility pool and spa lounges are a great touch for added relaxation. 5 star hotel? Yes but no - since Nobu is located in the heart of the west loop I expected the windows to be sound proof. This is my only con - I've stayed at other 5 stars in downtown areas which have these. Nobu unfortunately lacks this. Aside from that everything was perfect. This is one of my favorite hotels in Chicago. The rooms are extremely clean and it's in a fun location. The bathrooms are spacious with lots of counter space to do your hair and makeup. We did run into a small hiccup booking our room initially. But the hotel staff helped us get things straightened out. We were celebrating a special occasion and the hotel staff made every effort to ensure it was a memorable day. Ashley in particular was very helpful. read more

I was in the Midwest for an event where I was going to have to spend 2 nights in a dorm. So before I headed there, I needed to treat myself. This was an amazing experience from start to finish. First, the staff at the front desk were so pleasant and helpful. The room design was sophisticated and minimalist but had everything you needed from Dyson hair appliances to the most amazing truffle chocolates. i live in chicago and booked this stay for a staycation to relax in the steam room and pool but the experience was terrible...the pool was cold and not heated and the mens steam room wasnt working which i felt could have been mentioned while booking along with the rooftop bar not being open..the room was fine but the bathroom fans weren't working and also upon arrival no one helped with the bags out the car...for the price paid i felt like i didnt get my values worth, i will not be staying at this hotel and will be leaving a yelp review as well read more

After waking up this morning in the room, I have to say, I felt comfortable and well rested. What more can you ask for in a room? Clearly a lot of thought was given to the design of the room, accessibility, location and simple use of light switches and cooling/heat. It all had a very European meets Zen vibe. Two cool tips.... There is a secret door from the elevator bays into the lounge. And one of the elevators actually lets you out into the beautiful Nobu restaurant downstairs. read more

Nice hotel - but definitely would not term it a 5 star hotel. It functions more like a boutique hotel with some definite kinks that need to be worked out (ie breakfast is great but a little disorganized, housekeeping is not very speedy when you make a request, loud at night from street noise, etc). We just stayed at Nobu a few days ago and enjoyed our experience! The neighborhood: The west loop is very lively and there are tons of restaurants to pick from. The area is very walkable and also close to public transportation. Service: The check in agents were very friendly and informative during the check in process. They also led us to the elevator before we headed upstairs. Everyone I encountered was extremely friendly. I also really appreciated their text messaging system in which you can send a message to request items. Parking: We live locally and booked a package that included valet parking. We had no issues with the valet program at this hotel. If you don't want to do valet, you can likely find free street parking within a few blocks of the hotel. I also suggest going on Spot Hero for other parking options unaffiliated with the hotel. Room/Common Areas: The interior of this hotel has a very minimalistic look to it. We booked their basic room and found it to be very spacious. I didn't love the lower height of the bed, but that is just a personal preference. The smart TV was an appreciated feature in the room. I did not visit the pool/spa area, so I cannot comment on them. Hotel Bar/Restaurant: We did not eat at the downstairs restaurant, but we did grab drinks/small bites at the Rooftop restaurant. This place is reservation only, so I suggest you make a reservation as soon as you book the room if possible. The Nobu rooftop was pretty busy when we arrived around 4pm and I was initially disappointed when we were seated inside. I was originally looking forward to the view. Thankfully, a host offered to move us outside after a table became available about halfway through our visit. The cocktails, sake, and seafood dishes were really good. Prices are definitely on the higher end. We had a dinner reservation somewhere else, but I'm happy we got try the food here. I can see myself coming back for dinner. read more

This hotel is not only luxury, but top tier luxury! The hotel and the rooms are stunning, the location is absolutely perfect, rooms were spotless and the bed was super comfortable. But what makes this hotel the absolute best in Chicago is truly their staff! Their attention to detail is like no other. From the bellman Gino, to Claire and Emily at the front desk, to all of the housekeeping team who are always so friendly and keep the rooms spotless, to Michelle and Sharon in reservations to Jasmine in Sales and even the General Manager Robert! The staff here are unparalleled. They each took the time to personally sign a birthday card for me along with a very thoughtful bottle of champagne and even a small gift packaged in a box in my favorite color! I have stayed at this hotel a few times before and I always have such a great time and so I decided to celebrate my birthday with them this year. All I can say is WOW!! Not only did they do something extra special for my birthday but they had also hand wrote a "Welcome Back" card with a small Nobu bear for my furry son, Yoshi, who always travels with me. All of these things truly blew me away. But what also really amazed me is how they welcomed me and Yoshi every time we came back from a walk. How Hendricks was always quick to offer a hand when I was walking through the lobby with my hands full. And how every evening when I would arrive back from dinner, James at the front desk would walk me to the elevator to ask how my birthday trip was going and wish me a good evening. I will stay nowhere else but the Nobu Hotel Chicago anytime I am in town. And trust me, if you want to stay in a luxury hotel in a prime location with the best staff in the city, this is the only hotel for you! Great location, love the West Loop neighborhood. Spartan decor. To a fault. The room had like nothing in it. I did a Zoom call and people who saw my background said, "Dave's in the garage." At my $500/night hotel. The furniture is too darn low. I hate that style. I don't care if it's in vogue. It makes everything uncomfortable. Too hard to get up and down. Shower was nice. Wood bathtub was cool, but didn't try it. Room service dinner was amazing. Hard as heck to get it ordered, but once I did wow. With a price to boot: I had the steak set, some toro ($$$$), and a few beers for maybe $175. Wow. No good breakfast option as in-room was both wierd and way expensive. Beyond the nice latte's available in the restaurant and the generally helpful and well-meaning staff, I struggle to find another thing to commend about Nobu Hotel Chicago. While trendy, dark and minimalist in design throughout (as are other Nobu's we've stayed at) the Chicago iteration of the concept falls flat in may ways that are important to guests who are looking for more than atmosphere. For example, the rooms are also very dark and minimalist, to the extent that there are so few lights that you can barely see to read in the main area or shave in the bathroom. In addition, there are ZERO drawers to get organized and put away your belongings. I doubt that I am the only one who does not like to stay at a 5-star hotel and have to live out of my suitcase. Our first room did not have hot (or even warm) water in the bathroom, and the "engineer had not shown up for work that day; we insisted on getting a new room which was accommodated but had all of the minimalist flaws though at least had hot water. Both rooms suffered from excessive noise from the nearby elevated train periodically streaking past. Can we get a legit physical newspaper? Both days we asked, our request was forgotten and then ultimately unsatisfied. We have liked other Nobu's, but cannot recommend Chicago. read more

Room was nice and spacious, bathroom too, but the entire hotel has only one restaurant. And room service delivered us breakfast in a plastic plates, cups. We disliked the plastic experience. Therefore, breakfast at the 5 star hotel felt like on some street festival. Also hotel does not have a spa. Which is a huge minus. And for all of this you pay per night $540. One of the best places I've stayed while on vacation so far. The hotel is relatively new, really stunning, and has a minimalistic, sleek, high-end atmosphere. The front desk personnel provides excellent customer service, and there is always security and a doorman on duty. I really felt secure while I was there. In order to increase security, elevator entry is only permitted with a room key. As soon as you enter your room, you'll notice the incredible city views! A robe and some incredibly cozy house slippers are provided as you arrive. The room is equipped with every amenity you could possibly need, including a coffee bar, umbrella, steamer, Dyson blowdryer, toiletries, and welcoming Japanese cookies. Morning and nighttime housekeeping are available. What the price point has to give is actually what you get. On the first floor and the eleventh floor, respectively, are two dining establishments. I've had the opportunity to only check out the rooftop and that was a good time. The nearby train was the ONLY drawback I could think of; nonetheless, it didn't seem to be a major disruption. I'm certain that I'll stay at Nobu once more when I return to Chicago. read more

DO NOT USE VALET CAR SERVICE. Nobu Outsource parking services.is I am paying $72 per day to park my car. I should be able to get my car within 10-15 minutes. Room service was very slow last night. Nice room super nice host at the desk. But their actual services are not all that great. If you do decide to use valet service make sure you order your car in advance by 60 minutes. Manager on duty could only say "I understand yourfrustration" she did credit the$72.00 car fee. Even so, I am late for a meeting because of the delay. read more

Where do I even begin? This was my first stay at Nobu. I have dined at many different Nobu's before but it was our first time staying and experiencing Nobu and everything about Nobu fell extremely short. I have contemplated going back and forth about writing this review bc I am also in the hospitality industry, but I feel as if I should share my experience even more so bc I know what hospitality is, how a 5 star hotel should treat their guests and so forth. Especially even more during Covid. We booked our stay for one night to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. We could've stayed at any other 5 star hotel but chose Nobu bc of my obsession of Nobu and everything what Nobu represents. I have been waiting for Nobu to open for YEARS. HOWEVER, things fell apart before I even arrived. I read on their IG that their pool was open so I called letting them know I had booked a room and wanted to know how the pool system was handled bc of covid. Front desk told me that they only allow few people in at a time and that it's safe. Nothing more. Cool. Moving on. My bf was coming straight from work so I took an Uber and decided to check in first. It was raining this night and as soon as I arrived to my GRAND 5 star hotel, nobody was out to open my door or had an umbrella over me. Even this is fine. I'm in the industry. I'm understanding. As I walk to the revolving door, I thought maybe someone would press the automatic door for me from the other side but no. I went through the revolving door with my luggage getting stuck a bit and I'm also wet from the rain. It's fine. This is totally acceptable at a 5 star hotel. No big deal. Checking in, there was only 1 person at the front desk and I knew it was her that I spoke to on the phone an hour prior when I called bc of her voice. I asked again about the pool. She said it's all BOOKED for the evening. WTF are you talking about? I literally called you an hour prior asking you about the protocol about the pool and NOWHERE in our conversation did you mention that it had to be booked???!!! She then blamed it on whoever I talked to must have given me the wrong info. No apology. THIS IS THE PART WHERE IT GOT ME LIVID. We all had a shitty 2020. Right? I was really looking forward to the pool. When she realized I was livid, she said she can book for me the day after and give us late check out so I can have more time for the pool. Ok great. That defeats the point but sure. I'll take it... smdh Then she points me to the elevator. Correct me if I'm wrong but did I just check in at the BEST WESTERN? I thought this was a 5 star hotel?! I thought this was Nobu? Other 5 star hotels in the past gave me a hot towel, water bottle during my check in while another had hot chocolate and cookies waiting for me. Other Front desk would let me know which floor the ice machines were on, the amenities, which floor the gym, pool, etc are on. Nobu gave absolutely zero fks about service. No one even pressed the elevator door for me. Zip zero nada. Now mind you, I would not be writing this review if I had checked into Best Western. You get what you pay for. You get the reputation of the hotel. Nobu failed to deliver as a 5 star. Even Best Western would've given us better service than what we experienced. The next day after the pool and on our way to our room, our fob key ended up not working so we had to come back down to the front in our robes and wet swim suit attire to figure out wtf was wrong with our key. Then to top it off, our bathroom mirror had a huge crack in it in the corner. I thought this establishment was brand new? All in all. We were utterly disappointed. Saying we were disappointed is to put it nicely. Thank you for elevating our 3 year anniversary. It will truly be something we remember for years to come NOBU. Unbelievable. Unacceptable. I am staying at the Nobu hotel (at a cost of thousands dollars) with my Fiancée. We had a reservation at the Nobu restaurant downstairs. We had about an hour to kill before our reservation. This was yesterday, Monday night. We asked the hotel reception if we could go up to the roof to have a drink. He said "of course" that we could go up to the bar, and that because it was a Monday night, it probably wouldn't be that crowded and there might be a table available. We proceedes to the roof. We greeted a blonde lady at the roof. She summarily dismissed us advising that we could not enter the roof without a reservation. We could not go to the bar. My Fiancée asked if the could walk over and take a picture of the Chicago skyline to share with her family -- again we were refused. The lady at the roof did not treat us pleasantly. When I explained that we had asked the hotel reception whether we would be welcomed for a drink prior to going up to the roof, and that he advised us that it wouldn't be a problem, I thought this might have cleared things up. Unfortunately, the roof lady continued to be dismissive, advising that without a reservation we were not welcome. She then, ended our conversation by taking a phone call. (1) this was embarassing; and, (2) the blonde roof lady was extraordinarily and unecessarily rude. We are still staying at the Nobu hotel for serveral nights and I am considering switching hotels given the circumstances. read more

I booked our stay here because of their large windows. We got stuck In probably the crappiest room they have. Our windows were cut off half way with no light and our view was of dirt. I stayed overnight at Nobu on my wedding night and got ready in the Saki Suite. I was a bit reluctant based on the reviews but overall I am so happy I went with them anyway. Everything went perfectly. I got a suite and an extra room for my bridesmaids. We had vendors coming in the morning and were able to valet and get up to our room without a hitch! We also were lucky enough to have our wedding day on the only day in Chicago with tornado sirens along with sideways rain. The front desk and valet team truly went above and beyond to help us get out to our trolly in one piece and with as little disruption as possible. The staff was soaked and did everything to accommodate us and help us not ruin our hair and makeup. We are so thankful for them and how accommodating they were. Truly a 5 star hotel! read more

We stayed overnight at Nobu (ran about $400 or so), a couple weeks ago and these are my thoughts. 1) we loved the decor- it is minimalistic and modern 2) Originally, our room window faced the construction going on (major eye sore). We told the front desk and after a couple of minutes, a gentleman came to our room and walked us into our new room with a better view. There was no upgrade fee since the room option was the same; just in a different area of the building. Nobu staff was very nice about this, gave 0 issues. 3) the pool is so nice!! Definitely make reservations. 4) When we booked, we made reservations for the rooftop bar/restaurant (I left a separate review for that, but overall ehh.) I suggest making reservations upon booking because it gets really busy/a lot of people have been facing issues getting a table, even if they are hotel guests. 5) very clean! 6) in a "quieter" spot of the city, but lots to do! We took a walk outside in the area and there are a bunch of bars and restaurants close by. 7) overall, it was a good experience, I recommend it. Came here for a romantic birthday staycation, and left feeling pretty disappointed in our experience. We paid for the room with the omakase dinner included and when we showed up for our reservation, they had no record that we had a pre-set menu. They just sat us at a regular table and had a server come up who was very confused, and it took him quite some time to figure out what to serve us. Once we got situated, the dinner was fabulous. But this review is based off of the hotel and overall experience so I'll review the restaurant separately. Next we had a lot of trouble with our bill. We weren't given a copy when we checked out and had to follow up multiple times until we finally got it. Sure enough, there were errors on our bill that we had to call and adjust. They even tried charging us $67 for parking when free valet is blatantly listed on the opening page of the website. Honestly we were just expecting more from such a "luxury" hotel. We may return to the restaurant, but very unlikely to stay or recommend staying at the hotel. read more

I haven't even checked in yet, and I am disappointed. My wife and I received a night stay at NOBU Chicago on 1/1/24 as a Christmas gift from our daughter. NOBU has a 72hr cancellation/change policy. My wife came down with COVID within the 72hr period. I called to see if an exception was possible to move our reservation to 1/14. Juan R, the front desk clerk, who answered the phone was useless. Basically, repeating the 72hr policy again and again. I have traveled extensively and stayed in all classes of hotels, and never dealt with a hotel that was wholly inflexible. They're not fully booked today, nor on the day we wanted to reschedule. Basically, Juan said, he had no authority to make an exception and that anyone who could consider an exception was not working today. The gist of his response and attitude was "you read the policy so why are you wasting my time. We ended the call with him, in the most disingenuous tone, wishing me a Happy New Year. My wife and I were finally able to get away for a night. We were so excited to stay at nobu and experience their roof top and just relax after two years of no breaks from work or parenting (yes we didn't stop working during Covid-19) we arrive at the hotel and freshen up to head to the hotel bar to grab a drink. Once up stairs the hostess looked us up and rolled her eyes and said sorry the bar is closed right now and we are not doing bar service. We looked around at all the people up there with drinks and it was clear they didn't care for us to be there. Went to the front desk to see where we could get a drink and we were told to "go drink in your room" I'm sorry but I'm not 16 and we paid good money to be at nobu. We head back to our room and I call the manager and she says she will see what she could do and she would call me back. Fast forward 20 minutes and no call so I called back and she just said yeah sorry can't get you in. So we decided to no give another dime to hotel Nobu and called an Uber. As we were waiting non hotel guest were coming in for their roof top reservations. That really pissed me off. I'm sorry hotel guest should have priority at the HOTEL BAR. There was zero accommodation and horribly rude unprofessional staff members. I posted on Instagram about my experience and they then asked for my email so they could reach out directly. Guess what it's almost been a week and I still haven't heard from anyone but I did get promotional emails which was even more of a kick in the teeth. I'll make sure that my friends and family will never stay at a Nobu hotel or any hotels ran by your parent company. read more

I love the Fulton Market area and wanted to treat myself, so I booked a Zen Deluxe Suite at this 5-star property. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but I knew I was in trouble the moment I walked into the lobby to check in. It was incredibly tiny, with a couch and two chairs and all the ambiance of a not-very successful web design company lobby. I looked past it, got my room key and went up to room 525, the Zen Deluxe Suite. Or...was it? As I walked in, I thought, "This can't possibly be right." The room was just a long, incredibly sparse chunk of concrete, glass and fake wood. With two chairs (seems to be a theme), a long desk and an awkwardly placed TV. Actually, it did have one nice feature. Floor to ceiling windows, out of which I could see every exhaust fan and electrical wire in the whole neighborhood. Yay? I called down to the front desk, convinced I'd been given a standard (at best) room. But no, he explained that was, indeed, the Zen Deluxe Suite. I pressed him on what, exactly, made it a suite and he seemed unclear himself. "Have you seen the tub?" Ah yes, the one standout piece is a totally normal-sized tub, except it's square and, are you ready for this, made out of wood. When I expressed further disappointment, he offered to upgrade me...for an extra $350. Yes, that was his solution, spending even more money in an effort to get a satisfactory room. Needless to say, I passed on his "offer" and vowed to never return. read more
