I recently went to the Lansdowne Pub and had an amazing time. To my misfortune, I discovered half way home that I did not have my purse. I was able to contact management and they went out of their way to search the entire venu for it. To my surprise, when I showed up the following night to get it, everything was as I had left it. Money and all! The Lansdowne Pub has the most incredible staff. All of their employees are friendly, polite, honest, and eager to please. This is definitely one of my new favorite places! read more

Probably my favorite bar in Fenway. Huge, cool wooden bar. Gets pretty packed though, especially on game day, so it can be a battle to get a drink sometimes. There's a sweet back room with a separate smaller bar which is a great spot for private parties. The drink list is pretty extensive, but standard for a Boston bar. Live bands are usually pretty good and I love the pub food here. They have these chicken poppers with a buffalo type dipping sauce that's so addicting. I had a blast at the Landsdowne Pub This Saturday. The place was packed, the music was pumping and I had a waitress named Kelly who thank God dropped her burgeoning modeling career to waitress for my table that night. I will definitely be coming back, mainly to try and get Kelly's number; hopefully I will be able to stop drooling over her next time and actually try the food, but hell, I couldn't help it. If I could give a lower rating, I would. I would give them negative ratings. I used to go here every couple of weeks.. the food wasn't that good, but I thought at least the music was okay. Then I realized that the bartenders are terrible. First, the staff tried to take away our chairs while we were eating, but despite the fact, we still tipped the bartender 25%. Then when I tried to order another drink, he said "he couldn't do it" without any explanation despite the many complaints that he had served the drink 20 min ago. Then he called us "losers", and told us to "get the fu** o**". We asked for the manager, and after half an hour, the manager finally came up and said " I have worked with him for a few years, you must have miss heard", but we did not miss hear. We heard everything. The manager who was biased, without any information, denied everything..... this was completely unprofessional and unheard of. We will never ever come here again. Hands down the worst customer service at a bar I've experienced in years. Went to watch the nfl playoffs and instead of the game the were playing the cranberries. A number of tables asked politely to change to the game and instead the bartender walked past glaring at us to actually turn the music up. Apparently despite 80 percent of the bar there to watch the game sorry manager doesn't care. What can you expect from the HARDROCK CAFE OF IRISH BARS. We stopped by this place for the Spartan race after party for our free beer. This place was very cool. It has an old world bar feeling and the people were cool. We ended up staying for food which was a great choice. Food was awesome, we ordered the prime rib burgers and fries. Totally hit the spot and was amazing, and followed it with the apple cobbler. But one step back, while we were waiting for our food this place was packed with the over flow from the spartan race. There was a sea of spandex ass around and was nice to look at. Our waiter was awesome he brought over a shot of Jameson and a shot of pickle juice to follow it. What an amazing combo. A must when your here. This place is huge! And like Leighann said, there are nooks and crannies for multiple functions. I came here for an event that wasn't confirmed and the staff lets us do it anyway. The service was awesome (bartenders and servers), bathrooms immaculate. There is a great selection of beer on tap (HOGARDEN YESSSS). Overall, I couldn't be happier. I've been here before on a Friday night when it was packed, and the service was equally as good. I also love that there's a separate room with different music. Something for everybody. read more

Great beer selection... nothing too fancy, just a great selection of drinks that beer enthusiasts actually want to drink. Always a full bar, but I've never felt over crowded. This is one of my go-to places. It's always reliable. The food is great-bar/pub food with an Irish theme, but done really well. The drinks are extremely reasonably priced for Boston and they have some great beers on tap. The parties and bands are always a lot of fun and definitely draw a big crowd. Wow, if you love to dance to live bands this is the place to go in Boston. Change your mind and decide you want something more like a club, they got that too. I always have the best time here. I have not tried their food but who can eat when you're on your feet dancing. Every now and again there is a band that isn't as good, but the owners must not give those guys a second chance because they never return. It is a blast!!! If anyone tells you that this band is too undergrad or not fit for your late 20's then they have a bad attitude. read more

a very interesting "going out" late night scene... usually full of college kids packed like sardines. the live music is pretty good... but it is barely impossible to get in (line down the street) or even move around once you get inside on a friday or saturday night. As another review stated, they kick people out for no reason. I was kicked out about 1 hour before closing. For reference, I am 28 years old and have never been kicked out of anywhere. I respectfully asked the bouncer for the reason. He said I was "too forgone". I was simply dancing to the live band on the dance floor. Apparently they do not like people having fun. Let me preface this by saying Landsdowne is one of the most popular bars in Boston and I am still not sure why. I have been here so many times because I have a group of friends who love going. That being said it's an alright time if you go with the right people but I do not understand the appeal. Landsdowne is in the heart of Fenway and draws a large college and young professional crowd as well as an influx of tourists. The lines to get in after 10:00 PM can be suicidally long but that being said it's not long for no reason like many clubs do. Landsdowne is nearly 100% of the time packed to the brim with no breathing space. It can get infernally hot due to the multitudes of people. Yes, the divey scene works and one will not be unhappy with the multitudes of people who are always there. The lowest part of Landsdowne is the music. It has a live band on Friday and Saturday nights! One would think they were gearing towards the Baby Boomers who still listen to nothing but the Beatles as opposed to the college crowd. At parts during the night a DJ does spin for a bit and is very good when he does spin. Music is one of the chief factors for me and if the live music was replaced with a DJ, I would like the place better, other than that I will continue to go here with the friends of mine who thoroughly enjoy the populated and popular scene. read more

Fenway or Faneuil Hall? With a $5 cover in the off-season, an insanely loud cover band, an impossible to move through crowd, and at least one incompetent bartender who was incredibly rude to my entire group of friends, a Saturday night at The Landsdowne Pub is interchangeable with one at The Tap or Purple Shamrock. At least in Faneuil Hall, you have plenty of other options when you are mistreated by bar staff. Here, when I walked up to the bar and asked the bartender whether they carried a particular kind of beer, I was greeted with the drink menu being rudely shaken in my face. This same bartender refused to serve my friend who sent back a poorly-made round of mixed drinks. If you wish your night to consist of long lines, poor service, and a mediocre rendition of "Don't Stop Believing," this is the bar for you. read more

I just went to the Lansdown Pub tonight. I had been there once before, but it was after a Red Sox game and packed beyond belief. Tonight there was a great band playing, Great Whiskey Rebellion. They are going to be playing every Sunday night at six, so I highly suggest you go. It is much different then going after a Red Sox game, the atmosphere is amazing, great ambiance, prices aren't horrible. We came here to see the England v. USA World Cup game, and it was just an awesome atmosphere. This was our first visit, and we were treated really well. I am a pastry chef, my husband is a huge soccer fan and somewhat Irish (Scottish), so we know a thing or three about good food / Irish Pubs and restaurants. We thought the service was exceptional, and were impressed with how the waitstaff worked within the formidable crowd. I am thinking that those folks on YELP who have complained about not getting drinks when it is busy just don't know enough to grab one of the 20 waitstaff working the crowd (or maybe they're too cheap to tip?) As for the food- Salmon Cakes were very tasty, served with a dill dressing and spinach salad ( I suggest actually dressing the spinach with the vinaigrette rather than drizzling, but I'm a picky chef), and would be a fine lunch as well as app. The potato skins were perfect, no changes needed. The burger was BIG, fries hand -cut, all cooked perfectly. I had the Mesculan Salad with fried goat Cheese and Shrimp, and was VERY happy with my choice. It had a warm dressing and sauteed apple chunks, and was interesting and over-sized. Our kids had fish and chips, also perfect. The Apple Crisp was smoking hot and extra sweet and filled with cinnamon, and was enough for 2-4 people really. We had Abby as a waitress and she was perfect. The bathrooom was surprisingly clean and large (woo-hoo!!!) The decor overall was very nice for an IRISH pub, not as gritty as one might think of, and enough TV's to satisfy all sports fans. The outside area of the Lansdowne Pub, (directly opposite the Green Monster and Fenway) which doubles as outdoor seating when the weather is nice, proudly displays the words "pub, food, music, and failte (welcome in Irish)" which accurately describe the vibe of this pub, surrounded by the other more club-type venues in the immediate area. Lansdowne has the versatility to rival long-standing neighborhood favorites (such as the Cask n' Flagon) in terms of pre and post game festivities, as well as live bands and extensive dance floor for nightlife patrons (offering a more casual approach than The House Of Blues or Tequila Rain, nightclubs which bookend The Lansdowne). There is ample seating during the day (with classically Irish, sectioned off tables from the bar area) and a large pub-type menu to match. The weekend nights typically feature a live band and a minimal cover, and cater to a 25-35 crowd (as with the other bars in the area). A nice feature on these more crowded nights, when it becomes increasingly difficult to get to the packed (full) bar, they set up a satellite bar, offering your basic light beer (they know their audience). read more

The Landsdowne Street area finally has a bar that is more of a bar than a nightclub. Fun, Irish atmosphere that you might find at some of the places on Boylston Street or in Faneiul Hall. Not a lot of scummy club goers in here. Good selection of beers and the food was pretty good as well (though I didn't really test it by having a burger). Their grilled cheese is horrible, and that is a pretty hard dish to mess up. I cannot believe that their chef would allow that to be served along with their cheese dip. This review is not a reflection of the actual pub itself but more of the staff and management. Aside from the rude bar staff trying to take our full shots off the counter to clean up, the night was going really well. The kicker came at the end of the night when my friends and I were claiming our coats at the coat check. We all got ours except for one of my friends who was told that they couldn't find it and to stand off to the side while they helped other people in line and had someone look around for hers. While standing off to the side she was approached by multiple bouncers and rudely told to get back in line, even though she was told by the coat check girl to stand there. She waited for a bit (while we were all outside in the cold because it was after last call and could not get back in) before asking the coat check girl if they had yet to find it, all she got was a very rude and snippy no in return. This is when the manager approached her and at this point she was tired and just wanted her coat. The manager told her that if she didn't have her claim number they couldn't retrieve a coat for her, which is hilarious because the girl had already taken it! So at this point its been probably 30 plus minutes and still no coat has been found, my friend is very agitated by now and of course is not happy. Ok, so they've lost her coat and/or given it to someone else; they've taken her coat tag number so she is left standing there looking stupid and angry. No coat was produced so she is asked to leave wearing a thin short sleeve silk top, pants, and boots. The least they could do is given her a jacket that has been there unclaimed for weeks so she did not have to leave with no coat to freeze her a** off. Customer service is so important to me; this situation could have been handled so easily. Instead of righting the situation by apologizing for loosing someone's coat and offering some sort of compensation, she gets the boot and is humiliated for something that was out of her hands. read more

A group of Boston Marathoners who were reeling from the events of the Boston Marathon bombing got together the day after the horrible events. The staff at Lansdowne did not make our experience a good one. There was about 20 of us, crying and laughing and thanking the man upstairs that everyone was safe and ok. The bartender gave my friend crap about splitting up the bar drinks when she went to go pay for just her beers on the tab. Then we all went and sat in a back room to eat. Granted, we were a very large party so I didn't expect speedy service (I used to be a waitress so I know how hard large parties are). But we had to wait forever for service and then our drinks took so long to make it to the table (this was only an order of 4 drinks, mind you. Not the entire table) - and we were the only people in the entire bar! No other customers. Then finally, we wanted to get a group picture as this was a very meaningful time. My friend asked this one guy if he would take our picture and he rudely refused. Who refuses to take a picture? And yes, this was a Lansdowne employee. Then he grumbled something about losing a staff member. I will never go back here. The rest of Boston is supporting each other and healing with each other and these people are still being incompetent jerks. I give 2 stars because our waitresses, while verrrrrry slow, were also verrrrry nice. read more
