We made reservations for the Lark for a Sunday night dinner. They were very busy and the service was a little slow. Food wise, I really enjoyed the wedge salad with the crispy pork belly pieces and the Fisher's Catch with salmon was probably the best salmon I've ever had. It was so moist and tender with the crispest crust. The pasta lacked flavor but had a great texture. I would pass on the fried chicken. Overall I would definitely recommend The Lark! read more

Amazing food and a fun anniversary experience! We celebrated our anniversary at The Lark and it was fantastic. They started us off with Dill Pickle Popcorn as an anniversary gift -- addictingly good! For our meal, I had the "Superior Farms" Slow Cooked Lamb Ribs, my wife had the Jidori Free Range Fried Chicken, and we shared the Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Everything was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and generous in portion. The staff was excellent -- especially Kelsey, our server, who made the visit so much fun. Could not wait to write this review bc it is so deserving! My niece had her wedding reception at The Lark on 8/7/25. From the start to finish, every staff treated us like royalties. They were friendly, super helpful and kind. Their priority was to give the bride and groom the best! Being their point person, Joekim asked if there was anything they can do and to let him know how they can help. After telling him that a father and daughter dance as well as couples first dance was importance to our tradition, he immediately got to work and moved the tables to give room. Now, that's what I call top notch service! Our hosts, Jianna, Robert, Stephen, Jackie, and everyone else who was part of the customer service/restaurant was phenomenal! They were all amazing and they were all easy to work with and they were very supportive. I wish we lived close by so we can dine here frequently. I can't say enough about how delicious and amazing the food was. We had a five course meal, salad, Brussel sprouts, pasta, chicken, salmon, ribeye, donut, cinnamon rolls etc... wow, every single food they brought out was outstanding! Ribeye was tender, salmon was perfectly cooked, chicken was crispy and stayed crispy the whole night. The venue, the service and food brought so much memories to their beautiful wedding. We were visiting for memorial weekend and this was the best meal of the trip. Everything was incredibly delicious. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. My husband is from GA so he is picky when it comes to southern style food but he loved the cornbread and fried chicken and grits dinner. Let me start off by saying I would've taken more pictures if I thought I hadn't already written a review. I was here a few years ago, and I could've sworn I had such a great experience that I wrote a 5 star review. Upon looking back this morning, I realized I had yet to grace the world with my thoughts on this lovely establishment. So here goes... 6pm reservation for 2 on a Tuesday. Check in process with the hostess was fast and easy, we were taken to our table straight away, no delay. Server was knowledgeable, gave us time to chat and didn't rush us into ordering. He checked in on us frequently but not too often. We ordered the brussels sprouts to share- my date really hyped these up. I've never been a brussels sprouts person but these had a really nice flavor and I can see the appeal. For entrees I had the Jidori Free Range Fried Chicken and my date had the D'Anjou Pear & Winter Chicories Salad. My chicken was excellent and she reported her salad was also delicious. Ambiance is dimly lit with warm lights and candles at the tables. Very romantic and not too dark. Some restaurants go too dark with the lighting where you need to use the flashlight on your phone just to read the menu. Not here. Enough light without being too bright. Overall a great experience. I've also had brunch here recently and it was an equally enjoyable experience. read more

The Lark is just as cute and trendy as it sounds/looks online. The overall vibe is definitely what I would come back for. The food was good from what I experienced - I had the pappardelle and it was very unique and flavorful (a bit rich and perhaps slightly salty, but otherwise, so good - I haven't had anything like it before). The pickle popcorn for the table at the beginning of the meal was genius - loved it, a great touch. The drinks were average, nothing to write home about, but good nonetheless and feels like a reliable spot. The service was good and polite - a bit on the slower side, but otherwise, great! Gorgeous courtyard, outdoor patio, bar, and restaurant. Very festive inside and had a Christmas tree! We came for our 8pm reservation on a Wednesday night and were seated immediately on the patio. Seems like their patio is pet friendly as there were a few tables with dogs. Our server, Saul, was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in deciding what to try. For drinks we had the Sweater Weather, Time and Tide, something similar to an Old Fashion, and a hot tea-like drink. All were super yummy and unlike anything i've tried before. I see they change their cocktail list often, so I'd be excited to try what they offer in the future. As for food, everything was delicious. The southern pimento cheese was tasty and they offered to bring more brioche crackers. The oysters weren't too salty and were actually on the sweeter side, and the Channel Islands Line-Caught Crudo was insanely fresh and bright red. I really liked the avocado mousse its plated with. The pasta itself in the Hand Cut Pappardelle Pasta was perfectly al dente, and the bbq on the Post Oak Smoked Duroc Pork Spare Ribs wasn't too sweet. This was my third trip visiting the Lark. I last came before Covid. They built out a large outdoor patio in the front which is where we sat. Our waiter was extremely accommodating with letting us order since we had our baby with us. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. The fried chicken was the star of the show. It had three pieces of juicy chicken with delicious grits and sweet pickle. We also tried the duck confit which had asparagus, salad and beets. The free popcorn is amazing, addictive, and leaves you wanting more! The cocktails were good, much like anywhere. We started with pimento cheese which was tasty with a bit of a kick. Duck was the best, beet salad great, I loved our JP Paloma cocktail and the mocktail we got. Oysters 10/10 I didn't like the brussel sprouts at all really. For 2 people, it was too much. We had dinner Sunday night at the Lark during our two day stay in S.B. The food was delicious! We had the fried chicken and the catch of the day - Salmon. Both dishes were excellent. The chef at the Lark does an amazing job not only how tasty the food is but also with its presentation. The vibe in the restaurant and Bar is pretty cool not just locals but also tourists and all age groups as you can tell when you enter the restaurant. Our table where they seated us was near an old church confessional which we thought was funny but added character to the place especially since part of it is used for a table for two. Glad we picked this restaurant for dinner in the Funk Zone. We'll be back next time we're in the area. read more

An absolute must try! I was glad to have this on my list of places to try visiting Santa Barbara! From even before arriving at the restaurant, I received a reminder for my reservation with great details around parking and the general area which was a pleasant surprise and definitely a first. Once I arrived, after figuring out where The Lark entrance was located (not hard at all, it's just grouped with some other quaint restaurants connected by a little alley that you can walk through, very instagramable! Upon arriving, we were seated promptly in their patio area (highly recommend it if the weather is nice and cool - plus there are warmers and lovely greenery and decor). The menu itself is not extremely vast, but they do have the right blend of fresh dishes, some seafood, and other sinfully delicious options that I wish I had a bigger stomach to try them all! We ended up starting with some fresh oysters which were served with some delicious Bloody Mary granita, horseradish, and lime and a great way to begin your brunch, if you ask me. The flavors were strong, and the freshness, meatiness and plumpness of the oysters left me wanting more! But I knew I needed to brace for my next few dishes If you love raw fish, and sushi, I highly recommend trying the halibut crudo, the texture was incredibly creamy! Almost like scallops, and it was served with a delicious and fresh mix of pickled shallots, dill, and accompanied by some fresh beets with shaved horseradish, as well as some sliced cucumbers, some crème fraiche and a few pieces of toasted brioche for you to put together a little perfect bite. Try it all together and I promise you'll thank me later, it was mind blowing how the beets paired so well and magnified the flavor of the fish. For the main dish, I was conflicted with what to try as there are really strong options. So I asked the server, who btw was super friendly and nice, and he recommended the frittata or the fried chicken which we were considering as well... so naturally we went with the frittata but asked for some toasted baguette and the chile de árbol honey butter that comes with the chicken because why not? and OMG! The frittata was light, with a wonderful mild sweetness from the corn, and the whipped goat ricotta was incredible! Both texture and flavor were top notch! And don't get me started with the bread and that honey butter the chile de árbol was lightly spicy and perfectly sweet and smoky, just the perfect way for butter to be must try! And it should be in the menu as an option because it was a winner! You're missing out if you have not tried this place. A must come back to when I return to Santa Barbara. read more

Beautiful setting with superior service. We went for a post-wedding celebration dinner with a small party (7 people) in the evening. The portions are supposed to be family style but would describe more as "small plates" except for the steak which was definitely 3-4 servings compared to the fish special which really was only a single serving. The food presentation was lovely and comes out in waves which means we asked for a smaller table to be added so that we had space for the amount of dishes ordered and the staff had no problem accommodating the request. The wine list was great and the cocktails were okay but lacked a vibrancy that was expected based upon their description. The cajun/southern vibe of the food was on point with the pimento cheese spread, fried chicken and the veggie dishes were fresh and a favorite with the brussel sprouts and beet salad. Parking was meh as there is no designated parking and it is in the Funk Zone but only a short walk since it was later in the day. read more

The atmosphere and people here are top notch. Unique indoor and outdoor rustic casual upscale Cali setting. Food quality and flavor was outstanding. Tried the beet salad, Brussels sprouts (incredible), broccolini, mushroom pasta. You must get the cornbread - it's heavenly and so unique. I will say the only downside was that dishes were all brought quickly, many at once, and the meal was rushed. With all of this food, the experience was one hour and we would have loved to savor it all longer. This was a first visit during a week in Santa Barbara and one of the favorite restaurants we tried. I will go back again in a future visit for sure, and ask if there's a way to bring one or two dishes at a time. read more

They specialize in large parties and meal sharing but they are fine for parties of 2. I had the amazing Sea Bass catch of the day fresh and moist . My friend had the duck which was also tasty. Everything is farm to table or fresh caught. They have an extensive wine list plus herbal teas and specialty coffees. Just an overall exquisite experience. New Year's Day on our way from Santa Barbara to San Diego. This is my kind of dining...many different, well curated sitting areas, indoor & out, bar & back rooms & patios...large tables, small ones too. Fire pits and lanterns everywhere. Comfortable seating, something to see at every glance. We just loved it, and the weather complimented the vibe. We popped in after passing by, lucky enough for it to be before it became super busy. Service was very attentive. Of course they recommend a bunch of dishes.. As I write this, I do not even recall what we ate ! But I remember the glow of the evening and the delicious Unapologetic cocktail served in small scotch tasting glasses made with Rittenhouse Rye, Punt e Mes & Jelinek....just wonderful. Looking back at photos as a prompt, we enjoyed the Central Coast Winter Garden salad, The Creekstone Farms Beef prime flat iron steak and I think that Lee had a delicious fish dish. Came here on a Thursday to a bustling restaurant. We were very excited to eat here and getting recommended it by three different people for our trip to the area. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation we were not given the option to sit inside versus outside and were ushered to a table outside with one heat lamp at the corner to service 5 people. We were seated at an extremely small table for a restaurant whose meals are meant to be shared and passed around. When everything was placed on our table, there was not any room and it was difficult to manage, despite getting fewer number of dishes than what was recommended to us. We started with the complimentary popcorn, which had great flavor and held us over in time for our food, which was brought out in the order in which it was done cooking. The food was good throughout, not great, and some dishes we felt had much better value than others. The best dishes were the wedge salad and the brussel sprouts, which both had a great flavor and we all found delicious. The cornbread was too moist and drenched in butter which gave it a greasy feel and was frankly all we could taste. The shrimp toast was also lacking for us - we found the bread to be soggy and only about 3 pieces of small shrimp to share. The fried chicken had good flavor but we had to pay $10 per piece for extra to accommodate the 5 of us, and the chicken thighs were varying sizes some smaller than the palm of my (tiny) hand. Lastly, the pappardelle was good, not amazing. Ultimately, we had a nice meal with a few delicious plates but overall the mediocre dishes outnumbered the great ones and I don't think I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

The ambience was very warm and welcoming especially because our server Danae who was very attentive the whole evening. It was our first time at The Lark which turned out to be the coziest and most delicious way to wind down our day. The fried chicken was seething with so much flavor that I think you'd have a hard time finding better fried chicken than here. The Salmon for the Fisherman's Catch had a nice sear and paired excellently with the risotto and the Ojai pixies. Last but not least don't forget your dessert, specifically the new school banana split which had very individual flavors that meshed very well. Had a group birthday dinner here on a Saturday night. All of the food was flavorful and well presented, especially liked the dill popcorn, crispy brussels sprouts, brown butter cornbread and central coast winter garden salad. The salmon was some of the best fish I've ever eaten. With a group of 8, the restaurant required a set menu of $95 / person for family style dining. Service was inconsistent as initial courses came out too fast and then there was a significant delay in getting our main courses and later dessert. Part of the group also went without plates and we had difficulty in getting our server's attention to bring them. Group only ordered drinks once and server rarely came around to check. Based on the food, would give The Lark another try, however would have expected a more consistent service experience given the required menu and price. read more
