After about a month or so I noticed my vision begin to regress, called about getting it redone (known as an "enhancement"), was told I would need to fill out a form and pay $250 to have it redone, and would also need a revaluation of my vision to determine if I would still be a candidate. Went to an optometrist and got my numbers, had her fill out the form, and paid, the office had decided that only my left eye needed to be corrected as I could still achieve 20/25 with my right eye if I strained to see the eye chart. Dr. McGlothan deemed that it would be best to do PRK in my left eye and see how it goes. It has now been about a year post-op from my PRK enhancement and my left eye is blurrier than ever, I feel like the measurements were done incorrectly or that there might've been something wrong with the data that was input into the laser. I now have double vision in my "enhanced" left eye, and more issues than ever with night driving, starburst, and halos. I will be attempting to get another enhancement done in both eyes with a different Surgeon to ensure the best results and to achieve the same 20/20 (or better) that I initially had after my first Lasik procedure. read more

Something about this place gives me a weird vibe. I went in for a Lasik Consultation on a Tuesday afternoon. Parking is bizarre because of the construction. I parked underneath in the basement and walked up a flight of stairs. Make sure you are in the correct wing because I accidentally parked in the wrong one. No big deal though, it was just an extra 2 minutes of walking. I signed in and filled out a few forms before starting the tests. Between the tests, I spoke to Julie. She told me roughly it would be $4k-$5k for both eyes. I am pretty nearsighted (-9 and -9.50) so I guess the cost makes sense? They do have a Groupon (which they aren't allowed to advertise) which brings the cost down to $1799 plus $500/eye for the lifetime touch ups. Why the big gap, I have no idea. You still have to pay for prescription drops (for the procedure) and artifical tears (for dry eyes after procedure). The whole experience felt like buying a car. It was really bizarre. The staff was nice and answered all my questions but I still felt off the 2 hours I was there. It's between this place and LasikPlus for me. I honestly might go with LasikPlus. read more

To update my experience, I just got the enhancement. Before my initial surgery, i can read things close perfectly. But soon after, I feel that I developed presbyopia(not related to the surgery). When my eyes started to heal, I realized that I still had prescription. When I went in for the follow up, the doctor recommended enhancement on one eye so that I have the mono vision. This way I can read both far and close. The waiting time is about 12 weeks, but when I finally got it done yesterday, I am very happy about the result. Many thanks to Dr. Horn. I have very strong opinions about this place. Do not go here. My experience has been horrible every step of the way. No appointment starts on time. I have waited over an hour on more than one occasion. I also asked to use the Groupon and was met with a very odd response. I was told not to talk about the Groupon and watched a woman be silenced in the waiting area for mentioning it. I can't help but assume my bad experience is partly to do with my use of a Groupon, I am being treated poorly because I got a discount. I had PRK almost 6 weeks ago. I still can not see. I can not read my phone, a computer, the TV, road signs. I am dictating this through my microphone. Everything is super blurry. I have come in in tears talking about how poor my vision is and how it is negatively impacting my life and how I was never explained this could happen. I keep getting "everyone is different" but was never forewarned about this possibility. No one is willing to tell me any real answers. The day before my surgery the nurse told me because of my scans I may not be a candidate. But miraculously on my day of surgery they called and said I was. I am wondering if I was really not a candidate and they did it anyway. This is impacting my life and my overall mood. It is causing me to feel frustrated and down and I was not prepared for this at all. I want to see another doctor for a second opinion since no one seems concerned here that my vision is so poor. Just got my LASIK done - and went from a -8 prescription to 20/15 vision! Like many, I was apprehensive at first - especially since I bought this as a Groupon somewhat on a lark and realized too late it was nonrefundable - so with that little nudge, I was locked in. Everyone at LVI is so professional and this was truly as good as it gets from a service standpoint. From Kim to Dr. Karim and Dr. Jonathan to Dominick the patient consult, all of my questions were answered and every step of the way was explained. The pre-surgery checks are comprehensive and thorough - and the technology they use is far more advanced than any optometrist's office I have ever been to. The procedure itself was fast - 5 minutes per eye - and more importantly, painless! The day after, I woke up with perfect vision, no pain or irritation. My response to the "negative" reviews here are as follows: (1) some people apparently have CRAZY expectations that going in for a surgical procedure doesn't involve a bit of waiting. HELLO it's a doctor's office, not a BMW dealership. (2) Obviously some people don't READ the pre-operative instructions and realize that you have to get the prescriptions yourself BEFORE the operation and actually follow instructions. (3) Yes, there are some "too good to be true" internet advertisements about pricing for like $300 per eye. Come on people. This is a $5,000 procedure and worth every penny - and if you can save off of that, it's pure gravy. I can see and it is amazing!!! The staff here is great, they could tell I was nervous and definately made me feel comfortable. Especially the surgeon, he was kind and patient. But when it came to the procedure, he was super quick and efficient. It's been 1 week since I had my Lasik procedure and I got the contura, I can see way better than I ever could with my glasses or contacts!!! Definately recommend coming here for anybody who is considering it. The cost was significantly less than I was expecting. When they told me, I asked "per eye?" They said, "no total." I purposely waited few months before writing this review, just so I could give an accurate description of my overall experience and the final results of the surgery. I am happy to say that my vision is better than 20/20. I was nearsighted before and literally could not function without my super-thick glasses or contacts. I had the PRK surgery in June. There was some discomfort for the first few days after the surgery, but after that I have had no pain and no need for glasses or contacts. They only do the actual procedure a few times each month, so on the day of my procedure the office was very crowded. None-the-less, they seemed to keep things in order and provided everyone with accurate wait times, based on your scheduled appointment time. Overall, the staff seemed to be very attentive, I did not have a long wait time and the doctors were all very knowledgeable. I returned to the office a few times for follow-ups after the PRK procedure and everyone was still very polite and there was very little wait time. It seems that they are certainly able to adjust the total price that you will pay, but it is also based on the type of procedure that you have. I used Care Credit to cover the costs and was very happy to receive 24 months with no interest. As a person that has relied on glasses/contacts since I was 10, the results of this procedure leave me at a loss for words. No more visits to the optometrist, no more expensive glasses, no more worrying about sleeping in my contacts, simply put - life is much better. Given the other reviews for this location, I can certainly understand your hesitation in visiting this specific location. However, you should not let that discourage you from looking into the procedure and make your own decision on where you actually go. read more

This was the best experience I've ever had! I scheduled my consultation and about a 8 days before they called me and said I scheduled my consultation on a surgery day so I could choose to have my surgery day of if I was a candidate for lasik or PRK. I was so excited! This location is about 45 mins away for me so I thought that was great. I came in on Saturday (yesterday actually!) and waited about 30 mins to be called. It was a super busy waiting room so definitely expect that if you're going on a surgery day. Also they said the late afternoons and evenings are less busy on surgery days. Just some tips to keep in mind. Here's how my day went: 10:30a- arrived 11- called back to meet with Julie. She had me sit at a machine that I believe read my prescription. And then we went to her office and she answered any questions I had and went over pricing. She was SO nice!!!! I wanted to give her a hug by the end of everything. 11:15-1:30- went back to the waiting room and the back rooms like 3 other times. To use different machines to take pics of my eyes and to measure the thickness of my corneas. (Thickness of corneas decides if you can do lasik or if you have to do PRK. You'll do PRK if you have thin corneas or if you've already done lasik. The recovery time is longer with PRK, about 5 days.) none of the machines blew air into my eyes so don't worry haha. I booked my lasik for 4pm that day. It takes 4 hours for the pupil dilation to go down so keep that in mind if doing same day surgery. During this time I went to Walgreens down the street to fill my prescriptions that you have to bring with you to surgery. The 3 prescriptions cost me $120. Then I went to lunch and did a little shopping and by that time it was almost 4. 4pm- back at the office and waiting to get called back for surgery. 5- called back for surgery. I was sitting in a room with 2 other people getting surgery. They were both getting PRK and I was getting lasik. Was given shoe covers and a hair net. That is when the nerves set in. Otherwise I wasn't nervous at all! The surgeon came in and went over each of our surgeries with us and again answered any questions we had. He was so through and kind. For lasik: he said there is a suction ring that will make your vision go out and dark for about 10-15 seconds. I appreciated him telling me this before hand bc that's my biggest fear! And he articulated that too and said he explains everything so we're not nervous during surgery and don't jerk our head or anything. He was awesome!! 5:30ish- went in for surgery. The doctor explained everything while he was doing it which was so helpful and reduced any nerves or anxiety I had. When I say he explained it, I mean that he was saying the steps out loud so you knew what was going on. And they gave me a teddy bear to hold so if I had to tense my body I was told to squeeze the bear and not squeeze my eyes or move my body. I thought that was awesome and definitely helped. The surgery didn't hurt at all it was just kind of an interesting experience. But no pain. You have to sleep for 5 hours when you get home so plan for that. The first night my eyes stung a little and were teary, but that's normal. I woke up the next day able to see for the first time with no contacts or glasses and I'm so happy!!!!! Just got back from my post op appointment which takes like less than 10 mins and I have 20/20 vision! I would recommend this to anyone! Also I bought the group in for $1800. If I hadn't then it woulda cost me $1800 PER EYE!!!!! Get the groupon. I also bought the lifetime plan for an extra $1000, although with their 4th of July deal it only cost me $500. So if I need to go back and get it re done then it's covered. I just have to get an annual eye exam done every year. No problem with that. If you're debating or nervous, DO THIS SURGERY. Thank you to all the staff who walked me thru and answered my questions even when I asked the same question a different way. lol I was nervous and just wanted to make sure! I appreciate all of the staff from front desk to back of house. Dr. Mclaughlin was very compassionate, explained the procedure and during procedure he took his time and talked to me thru the whole thing and asked me several times if I was ok and ready to continue. (His staff sorry didn't get names in the procedure room) were very comforting, didn't rush me as I was very nervous. May sound funny but I appreciated the warm blanket and teddy to hold while the procedure. Today is day 5 after procedure I feel great! ... well after getting a spam mail, "starting at $299 an eye", I went in for an evaluation. I had considered this, as since my cataract surgery I've needed bifocals, which I hate! I could deal with cheaters for reading but this bullshit of loosing my close up vision since cataract surgery sucks. I've worn glasses since I was in the first grade and have an astigmatism. I've always liked glasses for safety with my profession but since retirement I hate them. I wasn't sure I was a candidate and was looking for a quick evaluation. Two hours later they offered a huge discount. My other cataract Dr. had offered custom lens for $1300 an eye but wasn't looking to spend that much when I had the procedure in January. I could get the PRK procedure done here for under $1000 for both eyes! (Limited time offer, normally $1300 an eye.) After the evaluation I found out I couldn't do Lasik but was a candidate for PRK . I read all about the procedure on-line and got light headed and almost passed out. The cataract surgery was hell for me and wasn't sure I could go through that again so soon. I also talked to more people and found out many have had terrible luck with Lasik surgery. (Even found out my brother had it done and it was a big waste of money, as he still needs glasses.) I think someone must have been behind on their boat payment and they needed to get some procedures in before the end of the month. My spouse had their eyes done here and had a fantastic experience. It was the primary motivation for getting my eyes done, which were much less "bad" for lack of a better word. I'd read up so much and heard from so many how easy and good lasik is I didn't mentally prepare, so it was an experience, I'll say that. It's a surgery and from what the staff said it went well. However, more than a week later my eyes are much worse. I'm genuinely scared it cannot be resolved and maybe I shouldn't have spent so much to fix my sight. I've reached out to the staff and will update with their options, but my eyes have gotten progressively worse and my vision deteriorated by the day. I had a noon appointment on surgery day, some how I had to sit and wait until 6:30 PM until my procedure. Had I known how long the wait time was, I would have gone watch a movie, had a meal, did some shopping or all of the above during the crazy wait time. I expected to by out of there at 4pm latest, not 7pm. Don't waste your time folks, go else where. Here's what I experienced: My original consult was scheduled for Dec. 23. I spent 2 hours there that day for them to do some exams and talk to the manager/counselor. At the end of that session, they told me I need to do a follow up examination because the optometrist is out of town. Well why didn't you let me know when I scheduled this initial consultation? Now, I need to make a second round trip on a different day = 3 hours wasted. On the day my 12pm procedure was scheduled for, another client was in for noon consult which meant she also needed to see both the optometrist and the counselor/manager; both of whom I also needed to see before my actual procedure. She was in and out by maybe 2:30pm (as a perspective client, they likely prioritized serving her first). After 1pm I asked how many more prior until I'm up. I was quoted 3 more until me. I had a 2.5 hour wait to get the prescription confirmation eye exam with the optometrist before the next wait to cash out with the counselor/manager. (Apparently the 10:45am appointment guy was still waiting in Pre-op at 3:30pm so they were REALLY behind). Another 1.5 hour later, I was finally called in to pay the site manager/counselor at 4pm. Then I was moved into a room with other patients from the 1pm and 2pm hours' appointments. The staff play a movie for us, which means MORE waiting. Apparently these clients got talked to by the surgeon already which means they're ready to be operated on. Here I am from noon and is behind them for my procedure????? Furiating!!! I actually had to wait even after the movie had finished. By this time (6:15pm) the 1pm-2pm clients had already completed their surgeries, and I'm here with a new/later batch of clients from the 3pm appointments... Ridiculous. (I was told I just had to wait for the surgeon to speak yo us first) Finely got my procedure at 6:30pm and left at 7:05pm. (I'd have walked out sooner if I didn't already schedule my work days). During my 6 hour wait, they also seem to tell all their clients to come back at 8am for their 1 day post op check ups, that means waiting on a first come first serve appointment the next day. So that last client was there till like 10am. You'd think they have a better system. I called to let the manager know how unreasonable the experience and the wait was. Apparently, there's nothing they can do about it. It's like once they collect on you, they won't help you. Cooperate didn't care either. Save your time, and go elsewhere. PS- if you must come here, use a Groupon (which they're trying to keep on the hush hush) and plan a meal and entertainment during the excruciating wait. I have been considering lasik for quite some time now. I saw this place on Groupon and decided to check them out prior to purchasing it. The parking lot is weird it's extremely congested and more than likely someone's door will hit yours. My initial thought of the vision institute was that there was a pretty long wait. I've been to a few other lasik companies and the wait was fairly short (10-15 min). This place was about 30-35 min and when I signed in, I saw a few other people with the exact same time as me (which means they double/triple book people- causing the delay). Next they take you to a room, which was really impersonal because there was another woman also getting her eyes checked in the same room. Strange. Then I was led back to the waiting room for another 10 minutes. Afterwards, I was taken to speak to a different woman who was not the doctor (not sure of her title) and we spoke for 15 min about basic needs and expectations. Once again, I was led back to the waiting room but immediately called into the eye exam room. It was pretty irritating to go back and forth so much and had all this added wait time. The tech did a basic eye exam, put drops in my eyes and told me the doctor will be in shortly. It was about 25 min before I realized this was NOT the place for me. I left and didn't look back. Kind of ridiculous that i got to my appointment on time at 10:45 am and I left at 12:40 and STILL haven't even spoken to the doctor yet and spent a majority of that time shuffling between rooms. Side note: it was kind of unprofessional of the front desk receptionist to call people on speaker phone, especially when it went to voicemail where everyone in the waiting room can hear the number of the person who is being called, followed by the receptionist saying the patients name in the voicemail . I had the LASIK surgery several years ago and as part of the program if I had an annual eye exam then I was eligible for any corrective surgery free of charge should it be needed. WELL, they closed the St Louis office and I was told that I could simply fax the annual eye exam results from another eye exam place (like Clarkson Eye Care) and I would remain eligible. When I called today(12/29/2020) for the fax number and whom to address the fax to, I was told this program no longer was in effect since they were bought out. Why did they not inform us that they were discontinuing. Why does the new company not honor the previous commitment? Why did the person on the phone not know anything except that the program is over and it is not their problem? I am certain I am not alone. I had my lasik surgery about a month and a half ago. Yes there was a wait time, but they tell you this in advance. I went in on a busy Saturday- had my consultation & was sent home to have some lunch and get all the medications before I went back that same afternoon to have my surgery. DO NOT GO HERE! Better yet I advise you to not get Lasik Eye surgery...ever! I had my surgery done here and I now have irregular topography on my right eye which means my cornea is now irregularly shaped causing my vision to be blurry forever! Not even glasses can fix it. I now have to see a cornea specialist to possibly get fitted for a HARD contact lens to correct my vision, (NOT the typical soft lens that most people wear). This is also costly! I had never heard of this adverse effect. At the Lasik consultation they had mentioned dry eyes and possibly needing to get Lasik again in the future, but never did they mention that I could have an irregularity for life that can not be fixed. I now need glasses again cause my left eye is getting blurry (which I figured would happen since I am a female with hormonal changes) but my right eye no matter what type of prescription I get, I always see blurry due to my irregularity. I had paid for lifetime warranty, but I am clearly never going back! So, that was a waste of money! I wish I could at least get my warranty money back since my optometrist at Lens Crafters recommended I see the Lasik surgeon to discuss my issue and be refunded for what happened. I spoke to the Lasik surgeon on the phone after I demanded to speak to him (since I never got a call when I asked nicely), and was told by him I would need to see a cornea specialist to correct my issue. He also said he would send my case to corporate and that I should expect to hear back from them with a refund. It has been about 5 months now that I was told I would get a call, but I have not heard from them at all. I have called numerous times for an update, but every time I call, the call center always tells me they would send a message on my behalf and to expect a call within 72hrs. I have called about 5 times since then, and nothing! The most recent time I called they said they had e-mailed me last month, which is BS, because I check my e-mail every SINGLE day (all inboxes), and I have not received an e-mail from them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first and called to confirm my e-mail address was correct in their system, and it was! (of course it was! How else would I have received all my appt information at the time of my surgery!) I even provided an alternate e-mail address, in case, they for some reason could not properly type the first one in, and even then, nothing! If they said they have e-mailed me several times and they know I have called multiple times concerned about not getting an update, why can't they just call me to confirm I received their information? Apparently, the e-mail contains forms I need to fill out, but how the hell am I supposed to fill them out if they can not even do their part and send them to me?! I had my PRK done in October it's February I still can't see that good. I should when they offered me to buy a lifetime warranty, something is wrong. I complained about my eyes almost every week. I did not know I had contacts in until 10 days later, when I went back for a follow up. Th next week I complained about my vision and I was giving a appointment on a Saturday, in which I saw the most rudest doctor ever. He look into my eyes as quick as he could and said they're healing just fine. I asked him why is my vision still poor and I hurt so bad? He told me in 90 days they will be fine. It's passed my 90 days and i still having trouble seeing near and especially far. I pissed off im in the military so last weekend I had a eye examination and they could not believe I had PRK. Excellent experience. My husband went in for his consultation, and was told he had dry eyes. He had plugs out in that day, and within one week he went from a 1 to a 9 on their chart! With wet enough eyes, they proceeded with the lasik. My husband said they were very professional, and speedy. You'd think lasik was a lengthy procedure, but it isn't. It took between 9-12 seconds, yes seconds, for each eye. No, he didn't feel anything. He said it was a laser light show and then it was over. The staff is very cautious to not operate on someone who is not a candidate. They go above and beyond with testing before surgery. I feel as if they're not just trying to make money, but they genuinely care for our vision. I would recommend them to all who need to see more clearly. read more

I was impressed with my first visit, I walked in, filled out the paperwork and was taken straight back for evaluation testing. I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision before I said "yes, schedule me." I emailed back and forth a few times to also try and fit the surgery into my busy schedule. Settled on a date, and was asked to come back in for re-scans (they wanted my contacts to be out for 7 days to ensure accuracy). I came in for my appointment and waited an hour. I asked what time I needed to be there for surgery (did I need to be early?) and was told just come at your appointment time. I gave the exact address of the Walgreens pharmacy to call my prescriptions into. Received a phone call day before surgery to go over procedures. Was told to take the antibiotic drops the night before and the morning of. Ok, did anyone call my prescription in? "I'll make sure that is done if it hasn't been yet". Was told to be in 45 minutes before my appointment to do my re-scans. What re-scans, I did this yesterday? They didn't see the re-scans in my chart. They went and found them. I called back with a few more basic questions (hey, what type of surgery do you have me down for?). I was told this would be discussed with the surgeon right before the surgery. Hmm. I'd want to be a little more prepared but that's me. I was told to be there at 2:45 to fill out my paperwork. I told her I already had re-scans and she said "no no no, you need to come in early to fill out all of the paperwork." Two people cannot get their stories straight. Stopped by Walgreens to pick up prescriptions ... guess what? No one called them in. Walgreens has this nice system where they can also check if the prescription is called into another location. No prescription at any Walgreens. I called the Oak Brook center directly this morning and asked where my prescriptions were. "Oh, I must have called it into the wrong location. Where do you want me to call them into and I'll do that right now." Hang on, wasn't I supposed to have drops last night and drops this morning??? "No, it will be fine don't worry about it." There is no way in H*LL I am trusting my vision to a company who cannot pull their heads out and get things straight. If you choose to go with this company I send you many prayers and lots of luck that they do not screw up your vision. read more

I'm not sure why there are bad reviews on here. This place is very accommodating, informative, and has done over 950 thousand procedures. I just had my PRK procedure performed and it was a breeze. I, like most people came here due to one of the deals. I also had a friend that went to another location that had a great experience. The initial consultation went fine. They were certainly understaffed, but things happen no big deal. They were nice and handled by extreme nervousness very well. I have no complaints in that. I came to get the procedure done about a month later. (After a mixup getting the meds that might not have had anything to do with them.) I had to get a day off that overlaps with their schedule. Then got my friend to drive me. I had work the next day. But they said that's fine. Lasek is fine next day, right? So I get there and sign most of it. There no line so o walk in to review the info immediately. Which is great. The first thing I'm told is "let me tell you about PRK." (A different procedure.) I express my confusion since this is the first I heard about my choice changing. I am told that they decided my corona is too flat. Which would be fine. PRK seems fine with the research I've done since. But then I'm told the recovery is longer. I have work the next day. This is not possible for me. It was just assumed that I could come in on a Friday and be off until Monday. Some people can sure, but that's a huge assumption. I was told the surgeon didn't look at my file until the night before. They had this a month. I just can't see a way that this is fair to the costumer. This was just very unprofessional and very inconsiderate to my schedule. (Not to mention what it took for me to walk in there in the first place. I'm terrified of this.) I don't know if someone screwed up or the system is just flawed. I am still unsure of I'll be returning. I will update if I go through with it at this point. Update: I did go back. It went swimmingly. The surgeon was solid since I was FREAKED OUT. And I'm not exaggerating. 3 Valium and I was still a little shaky. Nobody lost patience with me and my eyeballs weren't damaged, which is a big plus. The wait time for the procedure was like 2 solid hours. So that is true. And they really glossed over that with me... But I'm fine with it. I had PRK. the pain was bad 2-3 days later, but that's typical. Couldn't see for a few days. Was driving a week or so later. Still have some light sensitivity and need to use eye drops when I first wake up to prevent searing pain, but that's not too hard to do. Last update: my visions great. A solid 20-15. My eyes barely get dry anymore. Light sensitivity isn't as bad either. Lastest review: Almost a year later after PRK. I use eyedrops once every day or so now. Never did before. Otherwise they burn. Not a big deal. My night vision used to be exceptional, and now it appears average. I do not think this is their fault. I have not gotten my vision checked since, but it is certainly still a lot better than before if not slightly worse than the 3 month mark. Tldr: This place is set up like a factory once you get in. The staff is extremely nice so that's fine. It's affordable as hell and it gets the job done. Just be aware that you'll be waiting a few hours on day of surgery and might be out several days if you end up with PRK. Also, the receptionist is the nicest girl ever. She and the surgeon are largely responsible for me changing my rating. read more

Getting lasik surgery was one of the best decisions I could have ever made ! Thanks to the staff at the Oak Brook center. Dr. McGlothan not only answered all my questions about lasik but he also talked me through the procedure the entire time. This is my second time back here.. the first time it was so many people in the office i thought i was at the unemployment office. I had to reschedule because i was literally waiting to see the dr.. for 2 hours.. they put people in front of me that came after me.. I'm back for my second appointment on time and i already filled out all of the forms and I've been waiting an hour... what's the point of having an appointment and coming on time if you have to wait hours.. they need more techs and doctors.. on the upper hand everyone was really really nice and pleasant.. they made me feel comfortable even though i was irritated.. read more

This has been an awful experience. Appointment was at 9am. And when we walked in heard over guests saying they are two hours behind. Girl behind the counter didn't confirm that. However, 10:35 and we still have not been seen. There has been no update on time- actually, this nurse said "we don't know when you'll be seen just wait" How do you not have this under control? How are You so behind? Why don't you warn anyone when they walk in that there is an extra wait- or when we book a consultation that it's surgery day and things run slower Makes me not want to stay. Going to find another place. So unprofessional. UPDATE!!!! while the consult and initial wait has been dreadful- my husband got his eyes done and they have been more than helpful with the follow up and recovery. This place is horrible! Regret every penny and every minute wasted here! Just finished my second surgery to correct the first one that made my vision worse than what I had to begin with. Still unsure if they fixed it the second time. They just keep telling me "give it a few months". I started out near sighted and ended up far sided??!!!! Are you f@&#ing serious?!! This place is a burn and turn factory. No concern for patients, just want your money. Oh, and apparently appointment times are pointless. I've waited over 2 hours on several occasions. Except for 1, the consultation .... I got right to the front if the line for that! Only so they can get paid. After that you're stuck. Also, this is the only review I've ever written on yelp! It's been a little over 3 months since I had my Lasik procedure done & I am honestly beyond happy with my results. Being a full time mom & college student makes my life a little challenging. LASIK has made my life easier in the sense that I no longer have to worry about look for my glasses when I'm rushing to get somewhere. Waking up & seeing 20/20 is amazing. The staff at the LASIK vision institute are absolutely lovely, Dr. Amin is careful to explain how your eyes should heal & what to expect & Laura (who speaks Spanish) is an amazing worker who made me feel comfortable during the procedure. I must first start off by saying I have worn glasses and/or contacts since I was about 9 or 10. I have played numerous amounts of sports growing up and went to college with 2 different athletic scholarships. Needless to say having these optical difficulties always posed a problem. I have always thought about having the procedure but like many of the people considering it I was hesitant. But my desire to see the clock when I wake up without help or be able to swim in the pool and see started to outweigh my fears. Okay so to the review. I consider myself to be very diligent and I went to over 10 different locations gathering information and checking out the facilities. Lasik Vision Institute was one of only two or three that made me feel comfortable with everything. The entire staff explained everything in detail. I was one of the people that would call back with other questions after visiting another office. And I never felt like I was inconveniencing any of them. THANK YOU JULIA. On the day of the surgery the office was crowded but I expected it to be that way. They informed me that the surgery itself was only 10-15 minutes (which was probably even a little less) but to expect to be in the office for 2-3 hours. I believe I was in the office for less than 2 hours. But that could just be me being so excited about being able to see. Upon meeting the Dr. I was pleasantly surprised by his overall demeanor. And his patience when others had questions was uncanny. The procedure was so easy and the teddy bear to hold was a nice touch. When the Dr. finished I sat up and saw the analog clock on the wall for the first time in my memorable life. Thank You DR. JONATHAN MCGLOTHAN M.D.I was so excited i could help but cry and give everyone in the room a hug. Now I know I may be a little premature in writing this being I only had the surgery 4 days ago, but if my eyes dont improve past this point I would still be extremely satisfied and would do it again. Like the facility informs you your vision will fluctuate but I CAN SEE. FYI~~~~~~the second and third day are rough. I had PRK. Definitely try and schedule this around some time off because for me driving is out of the question. I am very sensitive to the light. This may not be the case for LASIK but PRK definitely, but everyone is different. When I went in for my day after evaluation she said 20/20 so I am in love. At this present moment I have a hazy effect to my vision sort of like wearing old contacts.But the burning and itchy is gone for the moment. SO..... long story short I love them. It makes me sad that people had such negative experiences with this place. Yes, I did see $299/eye... which I knew was impossible. I paid $2300 for both eyes. And my surgery took 3 minutes, wait time was 30 minutes for the surgery. I've never waited more than 5 minutes to get into an appointment and the staff is very friendly. I am going in for my 6th month check up tomorrow, and feel awesome. I had PRK done, the more intense surgery and it went smoother than I could have hoped for. My biggest complaint is trying to get ahold of the office, as most of the numbers are for a corporate office who knows where. So specifics like prescription refills and questions pertaining to my specific office were very difficult to get answers for. However, don't be discouraged by the other reviews. So yes, I had been thinking about lasik for a while and saw the as little as $299 per eye ad and said what the heck let me set up an appointment. Obviously that price is for a very few select people with almost no vision issues. I'm glad it brought me in though because I don't think a $3000 ad would of done it lol. I tried to haggle with the price but that didn't work the day of. I got a call a week later with a better price and took the plunge and set up my appointment. The day before surgery, I waited til the last minute to pick up my prescription and my insurance didn't cover it. I called my primary physician and LVI to let them know. My physician never called me back, but Julie the office manager called me right away, she called my pharmacy and finally 10 min before the pharmacy closing I was able to get my $166 drops for free. Thank you for that Julie!! Put the eye drops that night and morning and off to surgery we went. The day of surgery I'm not going to lie I was scared!!! Excited but so nervous and scared. The receptionist calmed me down and between patients was joking around and making me laugh, that helped a lot. Then I went to see Dominick, we talked for a while, while getting my payment etc he was fantastic! Then waited a little longer and met with the Doctor. He answered all my questions and when it was time for surgery he literately went step by step telling me exactly what he was doing at every moment. That was so reassuring and honestly the most comforting part. Surgery it self? A breeze! I was scared of not knowing but it was so fast. They put a suction ring around your eyeball your vision get dark and blurry. All you see is a green little light and red lights to the sides. You feel a little pressure when the flap is being cut and then smell a little burnt hair smell when the laser is on and then done!! So quick so painless and exactly what the doctor said would happen. I will recommend to anyone and everyone. A day later I can see perfectly fine. Thanks to the staff for this awesome experience. read more
