Nothing but perfection and friendliness from this mechanic. I would recommend them for any service foreign or domestic. I had a particularly obstreperous Subaru Impreza which was resolved by taking the car here based on several recommendations. This is north shore favorite and if you aren't local there is the added benefit of Highwood having so much to do if you need to drop your vehicle off and wait, or you can take the train anywhere. Truly the folks over at JJ Service Center are honest and reliable. As a woman it feels like certain mechanics take advantage of us and make up problems. I came to JJ Service Center for a second opinion and they were so helpful. They validated that the other mechanics were in deed trying to take advantage of me. JJs is claiming to "take legal action" for my reporting them for their criminal negligence. Apparently they are as bad about learning the law, as they are working on cars. Avoid this shop at all costs. Car caught on fire a few miles after driving from their shop, and they take no blame whatsoever, and want to silence anyone who reports them . Efficient, affordable, professional, and friendly service! My car wouldn't start and I was stranded, I thought it was the battery but had no luck charging it. J.J. Service Center had a tow truck on the way but instead met me at my car and were able to charge it. That saved me the expensive tow. I was behind on servicing my car and my battery was indeed dead. The absolute worst experience in a business transaction I've ever had. NIGHTMARE ALERT. I hate that Yelp doesn't allow for ZERO stars! I would bet $1,000 that these previous reviews are fake. Brought in car for emissions related repair. J.J. and Daniel guaranteed it ON THIS FIRST JOB. I specifically asked if they had guaranteed that the car would pass based on their estimate. THEY SAID YES. I trusted them, because of their "great reviews". Not only that, I knew I was safe, because if you spend $450 or more on emissions related repairs, Illinois will give you a waiver. Here's where the evil starts. J.J. didn't guarantee the work as he had promised. I was pissed. Then, I said, hey just give me the receipt and I'll just go and get a waiver. When I got there, THEY DOCTORED THE RECEIPT TO SHOW THAT THE REPAIR WAS FOR A LOT LESS MONEY HAVING ATTACHED WORK THAT WASN'T DONE, OIL REPAIR, ETC!! I couldn't believe it. I didn't notic it until I had arrived to Lincolnshire to apply for the waiver. To my surprise, the woman at the counter said I hadn't spent enough money. I saw red. HE HAD ME DRIVE ALL THE WAY THERE KNOWING FULL WELL. I called screaming. J.J. called the cops. So, basically, if you're not happy and it gets to a screaming match, he calls the police on customers as his protection. HE USES THE POLICE AS HIS DISPUTE PEOPLE. Poor workmanship, which added to breaking a brand new AC compressor line, falsified reciepts, way overcharging for items, and adding high ticket items that were never approved. Finding myself moving from Highwood to Galena in less than a month (December 2013), I made good on my promise and brought my 1970 Cutlass to Jeff to have brakes looked over and the carb tuned up. Both were done. He also gave the car a once-over, since he knew I was driving across the state in winter, and found the radiator needed replacing. Took a while to do the work, but this is an old car. Parts are hard to find. I'll tell you this: the other day I started up a 44-year old car when it was 5 degrees out, and it was warmed up and ready to drive in 2 minutes. That's a carb tune up, son. I no longer live in Highwood. But if you do, Jeff's a good mechanic. Straight shooter. And he does the job right. read more

Dropped my 2006 Impala off on a Monday night to get the rear brakes done, JJs called me at 9 the next morning to inform me that in addition my front Calipers needed to be readjusted which is why I was having shaking in my brake pedal....something the repair shop I had my front brakes done at a year ago neglected to tell me. My car was ready at 2 that afternoon and all for what I felt was a very fair price. Overall my experience was that J J Auto Service is a shop that is honest, fast, and very fairly priced. It was meant to be that I overheard someone rave about the service, honesty, and excellent repair work at J.J. Service in Highwood, Il. At the time I was driving a 16 year old car. I knew it wasn't long until I would be getting a new car. The mechanics did an evaluation and worked on ONLY the needed repairs to keep by beloved old car running until I got a new one.
