With a storm blowing in we were craving some clam chowder. Homegrown did satisfy that craving! Unfortunately, service was a little slow because there was only one waiter. Luckily, we were in no rush. Appearance - The warm string lights created a nice, cozy vibe. (Maybe the rained helped too!) Overall, the food was plated well. Taste- Garlic Parmesan fries- mmm so delicious with a yummy aioli to dip them in! Would highly recommend! Caution if you're sensitive to garlic... be aware that the parmesan can easily be mistaken for garlic chunks! Steamers- My husband got this and said it was very fresh and he enjoyed the broth. I tried it but I'm not a huge wine person and to me the broth was very heavy wine flavored. Fried Fish Cod Sandwich- Unfortunately I learned on this outing that I don't really love cod. The fish on this sandwich was not very meaty.

This morning Jay served us wonderful cheesy grits with our omelette and amazing homemade jelly on toast. His coffee is excellent too. Open at 7:00 am this is the place to start our Florence day.

The server said she was waiting for steak knives, so my husband just used the regular butter knife for his steak. The steak was a little tough and lacked flavor. Would have added salt and pepper to it if there was shakers on the table, but didn't want to ask for them. The fish was nice. I didn't really get "crab encrusted". I'm sure it was there but really it just tasted like breaded and fried halibut. The rice and salad were delicious. Overall everything was good. I wouldn't say excellent. And for the price, I would have expected better. But it wasn't bad. There looks to be a lot of other great restaurants that might have a little nicer atmosphere that we would try before coming here again. Overall, I would skip the steak. There are a number of constant taps as well as seasonal/rotated local offerings. If you're an Untappd user, like me, then you can even check their beer options on the app ahead of time, or sign in while you're there so you can nerd out whilst enjoying your beer. I'm a sucker for anything malty, and when in a phenomenal beer-producing area like the PNW, then you will have plenty of Oregon/Washington choices. Fresh-hopped beer hits different when you're near the source. The burgers dot the menu, but do not miss the onion rings. These things are like beer-battered life preservers, so you probably will want to share because it's a HUGE pile of food. We've had burgers & other sammiches, but this past time I dove in for the highlighted Green Donkey. Well, 'we' dove in, because it's another enormous portion and sharing was the smart play. A marriage of beef & beans smothered in their queso and guac makes for a fantastic (albeit filling) lunch. I washed that down with a Pineapple Mana Wheat from Maui Brewing, a gently-hopped, light-bodied ale with that fruity finish. OK, so it's not 'local' but it is 'seasonal' and it's a great glass of bier. Service inside or out is quick and friendly, and they'll always offer a suggestion to fit your food or beer palate. I love doing local and Beachcomber represents that local anchor that is befitting of anyplace that has survived over three decades. You're on your own for parking, but there is a public lot a block or so away, plus you get a chance to window shop along the way. Beachcomber is 100% worth the stop, even if it's just to get off your feet, but enjoy the fare as well.

We were starving and couldn't wait around for poor service to drag their feet so we left. The place was also filthy. It was sticky, dirty, and smelled like old cigarettes. I'm fairly certain someone started smoking while we were there because the smell got stronger out of nowhere. Bathrooms were dingy and graffitied. Bar full of what looked like regulars. The food I did see (some kind of soup, maybe?) looked greasy and clumpy. Avoid if you value your time and health!

The counter staff lady was rude and said she would inform her manager. I waited in the room for the manager who never showed up, never called the room or my phone....I got no assistance. So after a half hour we were forced to pack up, at 10pm, and try to find other accommodations. It's now the next day and have received no phone call, no email, nothing. Extremely let down

The visit to the tasting room was fun, and we left with another Walnut and Fig. When we got home and opened it I found it barely drinkable. Rick Stillwagon has responded to this review with an offer ship me another bottle (s) of my choice and have me return my bottle to his distillery. I appreciate his reaching out to me.

The BBQ sauce and cheese were ok, the bun was standard, something was just off about it, can't really say what it was. Like I said, will return as it seems like a few locals were there and those are the types of places to go to! Plus, think they're one of the few restaurants in the area close to ocean.
