We went because we heard they had amazing clam chowder but also got the onion rings and the daily special clam and mussels in garlic sauce appetizer. $30. Everything was great. The clam chowder was very flavorful and was one of the best I've ever had. It can with delicious warm bread with garlic sauce. The onion rings were done right with huge onions and their house made barbecue sauce was tangy but not too sweet - a great pairing. The surprise dish was the (daily special) clam and mussels in garlic sauce appetizer. Even after all the delicious seafood was eaten we couldn't stop dipping the toasted bread in the awesome sauce!! Everything tasted even better because it was cold and cloudy outside. Just the way it should be on the upper West Coast.

We went on Labor Day weekend Pros Great location Ambience is open Mussels was great Cons Waiters are as friendly as grocery workers.. Overpriced - ex. Coconut prawn for 17$, grilled cheese for 12$ and chicken strips for 12$? Waited for 10 mins Food arrives late 30 mins No AC - it was hot and muggy inside Don't think I will eat there next time unless price is reduced (not a good value considering you have many options in the area.)

    Cool, historic building!

Stopped in a little after noon on a Thursday. Not too busy inside. We were greeted, then seated in a high top table in the bar area. The place is pretty big inside, with a really high ceiling. The building was built in 1901 as a mercantile store. The outside building front is super cool looking. Our server, Tracy, was super friendly and attentive. After sharing the specials, we decided on the Steampot for 2 for $68. My husband had been craving fresh crab, so we splurged! It was advertised with a whole crab, clams, mussels, and prawns. We also ordered a cup of chowder to try after reading all the Yelp reviews. The chowder was delicious! Nice and creamy with plenty of clams. Their sourdough bread was so fresh and soft, and the garlic herb butter served with it was so yummy! So far, a 5 star experience, then things went downhill. We were brought our steampot, and it was quite a production, with crab bibs and everything! We were so excited. We opened the pot, and the crab was sitting on top. The mussels and clams were below in the white wine and garlic broth. It took us a few minutes to notice there weren't any prawns. We mentioned it to our server, and she went up to the front to check the specials board, then took our steampot to the kitchen to let the chef know. Sure enough, the customer was correct. The chef forgot the prawns. She conveyed the chef's apologies and said he would cook some up and bring them out shortly. It's wasn't too big of a deal. People make mistakes. The joke was when she brought them out; they were tiny shrimp, definitely NOT prawns! I asked our server about it, and she said they were just really small prawns, and they shrink once cooked. What?! I've had many prawns and have never seen any this small in my life. Not only that, but they were overcooked and rubbery. Not good. The mussels were quite fishy tasting too, not fresh. I let the server know that as well. We didn't finish the mussels or shrimp. Bummer for a $68 meal. On the plus side, the crab was excellent, super fresh. The clams were good too. Overall, I was surprised at the customer service. We should have been discounted on our dinner for the not so fresh mussels and tiny, overcooked shrimp. We let our server know, and nothing was done about it. Because of that, I'm hesitant to recommend this restaurant. I don't mind dropping $100 on lunch when all the food I ordered is what was advertised and edible. We won't be back. There are other seafood restaurants nearby we enjoy.

Came here for the fish and chips and definitely wasn't disappointed! We were visiting around the area and Old Town and Bridgewater popped up as one of the first restaurants so we ended up stopping by. They are complying with Covid measures and have doors and fans on during this time even with seating indoors. With more spaced out groups wait times can be 30-40 mins so just keep that in mind. Wait didn't take too long for us as we were just walking around the area and taking in the views. By the time we were seated we got a seat by the bar and it was quick to get our order taken. WHAT WE GOT + Fish & Chips (cod) + Cup of seafood soup + Chicken Alfredo + Mussels and clams appetizer To share between two people we could have gotten just one appetizer or one entree because we were stuffed and ended up taking the rest as leftovers. To begin the meal we got the cup of soup and mussels appetizer first. The mussels and clam appetizer was light and had some garlic bread to soak up the juices. Only thing was some mussels didn't open so would have preferred to have them removed. As for the soup it was hearty and everything I needed on a cold afternoon. They pair it with bread which has herbed butter that is basically on the garlic bread too. Once we were finished we were greeted with the Alfredo and fish and chips. The Alfredo was plenty and solid but likely something i could pass on next time. The chicken was a nice alternative and was seasoned well. The cod dish came with 4 pieces surrounded in batter. The batter wasn't too overpowering and it was cooked through. The cod was flaky and the fries were crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Honestly this was enough to share between two people so you can easily just get this entree. I would get the entrees again! Just add some malted vinegar and sold. Staff here was super friendly and checked up on us as they saw we finished our items. They made sure we had everything we needed and made our visit to town great.

The food in this restaurant is so delicious, it has a taste of home, I will come again next time

We love Bridgewater. No matter how busy Old Town gets the staff at Bridgewater is totally terrific. We always start with a super cocktail and fried cheese curds. Wow! Are those cheese curds good. We usually go for the sea scallops if halibut fish and chips. Whatever we order (or drink) we always have a great time here.

Nice restaurant, friendly decent service. Food was good, great atmosphere. Parking can be an issue, mostly street parking (free)

Seafood cocktail, make sure you say 'prawn cocktail' u less you want a shrimp with a cup of little bay shrimp

My husband and I both have the cob salad, both with the added blackened chicken. Great salad and dressings, one blue cheese and one ranch. Apologies as I forgot to take a picture. The only picture I had was of my mother-in-law's "shrimp cocktail". Just make sure you ask for the prawn cocktail (not shrimp) or you will get 1 shrimp with a cup full of bay shrimp like in the photo.

    Menu item I chose...

We had lunch there yesterday and it was quite disappointing. I had ordered the sea scallops meal which was supposed to have almonds and black rice served with it, however I didn't get what was advertised. I was served a plate of scallops but no rice and instead was given mashed potatoes. I asked the server what happened to the rice and almonds, he had informed me that they had ran out of them the night before. So annoying that server did not inform me of that when I ordered, nor did he offer me any other options to choose from. The kitchen and server just assumed that mashed potatoes would be fine and sent it out to me with no explanation that my meal was changed, like I wouldn't notice. $29 for sea scallops and a small bowl of mashed potatoes. Save your money and go somewhere else! Very unprofessional!

The halibut fish and chips is a MUST with Portland ketsup!!!

But if you…read morefancy a fabulous burger, other great food options, or maybe a cold craft beer, then Beachcomber might just be your spot. One thing to bear in mind is that this is still a BAR: that means no one under the age of 21 may cross the threshold. But, if weather allows, anyone of any age can sit outside. Beachcomber has several picnic tables set up, a few with umbrellas as they extended seating to the street, and that makes for a comfortable dining option in fair weather. There are a number of constant taps as well as seasonal/rotated local offerings. If you're an Untappd user, like me, then you can even check their beer options on the app ahead of time, or sign in while you're there so you can nerd out whilst enjoying your beer. I'm a sucker for anything malty, and when in a phenomenal beer-producing area like the PNW, then you will have plenty of Oregon/Washington choices. Fresh-hopped beer hits different when you're near the source. The burgers dot the menu, but do not miss the onion rings. These things are like beer-battered life preservers, so you probably will want to share because it's a HUGE pile of food. We've had burgers & other sammiches, but this past time I dove in for the highlighted Green Donkey. Well, 'we' dove in, because it's another enormous portion and sharing was the smart play. A marriage of beef & beans smothered in their queso and guac makes for a fantastic (albeit filling) lunch. I washed that down with a Pineapple Mana Wheat from Maui Brewing, a gently-hopped, light-bodied ale with that fruity finish. OK, so it's not 'local' but it is 'seasonal' and it's a great glass of bier. Service inside or out is quick and friendly, and they'll always offer a suggestion to fit your food or beer palate. I love doing local and Beachcomber represents that local anchor that is befitting of anyplace that has survived over three decades. You're on your own for parking, but there is a public lot a block or so away, plus you get a chance to window shop along the way. Beachcomber is 100% worth the stop, even if it's just to get off your feet, but enjoy the fare as well.
