Gross! Super gross!! Their beef burrito was just ground beef. Salsa made from soupy tamato paste. Nothing was even close to authentic Mexican cuisine. Way too many options on their menu which makes it very confusing. Chips were defiantly from a bag. The entire staff was boring and had no personality whatsoever. Many years ago under the original owner, this place was the best Mexican in 4 counties, but now, I wouldn't waste my money or yours. There is nothing unique or special about most of their food, and some is actually very plain. Take a soft taco for example. If you dare ask for chopped cilantro or onion which you would expect to be offered or included with an authentic taco, they will give it to you for about $2 extra... A small beer, side of rice, and three tacos will set you back $18.50 with that. The owners here also have ties with several other Mexican restaurants in surrounding areas and have been in the business too long I suppose because they have forgotten good customer service and the food doesn't make up for the lack of it. read more

This is now probably the worst Mexican restaurant Carrollton has... I no long go there And every few months I go in hopes that something has changed for the better but nope.... Today we sat for 10-15 minutes before anyone spoke to us and before drinks were ordered.... It was hot in there, it felt Dirty, and it wasn't very busy so I am still unsure why the wait. I have decided I will no longer give this place a chance, so sad but it use to be an amazing place and now it's more dirty and just another failed restaurant. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner. Won't go again. We ordered the #11 which was a taco, an enchillada, and a burrito. The taco had ground beef and cheese. That was it. The enchillada had a soggy corn tortilla wrapped around ground beef only. It had a few sprinkles of cheese and about a half spoon full of sauce. The burrito was a soggy flour tortilla with ground beef, nothing else and another half spoon full of sauce. That was it. It was a whole plate of ground beef with no seasonings, not much cheese, no onions, no olives, no green peppers, nothing but tortillas and ground beef. Very bland and boring. Nothing Mexican about it. Very disappointed. Sorry. I can't recommend anyone going and wasting their time here. read more

I love this place. The chips and dip are my favorite. The salsa is not very chunky , which is how I like it. The queso dip is great. All I ever eat is the chicken quesadilla, as I'm not a huge Mexican food eater. Buy my wife is, and she loves this place, too. On Wed. nights they have a mariachi band that goes around the tables taking requests. They are very good and entertaining, and i recommend going on Wednesdays for this atmosphere. Ask for Esmirna (sp?). She is the best waitress they have. She always takes care of us. That would be my only complaint, is they don't always have the best servers, but most of em are good. read more

Fresh chicken everyday, a good quality of beef. Freshly made dishes with lots of flavor. I have several favorites; Acapulco Steak, Quesidilla Verde, Chimichunga, Pollo ranchero and many more. Very good food. Great service!!!!!!!!!!!! Definately a highly recommend. read more

Food is good. Service was awful rude wait staff. Then they didn't return my bill or my youth card. They gave my youth card to someone else, and was like oh well. Till they realized I wasn't going to just say oh well it's okay. It wasn't okay. Then it took right at an hour to get our ticket and try to get it paid after they lost my youth card. So please make sure your name is on both pieces of your youth card so hopefully this doesn't happen to you. We have eaten several times before with no problem and enjoyed the food and service. But this last experience has really turned us off. read more

Handicapped parking, but the entrance has steps. Wheelchair bound patrons have to go on the sidewalk to the oposite side of the building. Rough and uneven, difficult to use without assistance. Lower area is does not have a muted atmosphere and is very loud and makes for a most nerve racking experience. Food great if you can stand the noise read more

You can definitely tell that this place changed owners. Chips that have little taste and the salsa is bland. However, the margaritas were pretty good and nicely priced. The waitress was great but just wished the meal had been better. I ordered #28 and it was a little greasy and lacked flavor. A once above average restaurant now just average. read more

The service was good, but this was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The fish tacos were slathered in mayo, and the cilantro sauce on their shrimp enchiladas tasted like ranch dressing. Thank god for the plentiful chips and salsa because it was the only edible thing there. read more

We came here a year ago for our friend's rehearsal dinner and everything was fine. So my friends and I decided to come back again. Bad decision!! The computer was down and it took forever for us to get our food. The server did came and apologized for any inconvenience which was fine. I didn't have a problem with that. The problem was we had to wait for almost 45 mins for us to get our tickets. Once again the "computer was down" I am a very understanding person. I used to be a server myself but when I see my server as well as other servers laughing and giggling (not to mention being on their cell phones) while they are suppose to get our tickets ready. That's a BIG no no. It doesn't take 45 mins! If YOU knew your computer was down and it was almost closing time, wouldn't it be smart to go ahead and write it out? Instead of making your customers wait? Not once did a manager came and apologized to us and the other tables. I will NOT be coming back. I've had better AUTHENTIC Mexican food before and it was nothing like this. So please don't waste your time and money with this place. FYI, La Vaquerita Mexican Taqueria (Carrollton) has the BEST tacos and customer service. read more

I am giving a low review because I am in a wheel chair. I had to enter the emergency door to get in, where customers were already seated, and when I tried to go to the restroom to wash my hands I couldn't even get through the door to the first part. The actual door to the restroom was so narrow my chair would never fit.. Shame on the resturant for not having better handicap access. The food was good, but I was not comfortable. read more

In a large town with a college and several other Mexican restaurants, not to mention a couple of authentic Latino grocers offering a buffet, there's really no excuse for a less than stellar experience- but Lazy Donkey succeeded in living up to their namesake. I have been before and the food is fine for what it is, but this time I cannot say because we never saw a server. We were seated outside on the patio by a deaf hostess (I assume she was deaf anyway, since as I was walking behind her I said more than once that we didn't want to sit on the patio she was leading us to, where she eventually sat us), but I'm a big supporter of employing the disabled so we sat down. We immediately got a basket of chips, many of which were stuck together in unappetizing clumps, and proceeded to watch as two servers dropped food, checks, and drinks to the other 5 tables in our vicinity. For the next 10 minutes they didn't bother to acknowledge us for a greeting, drinks, or an 'I'll be right back!". When one of the servers actually came close to us, it was only to loudly drop a handful of dishes into the dish-bin before walking away to do something else that yet again wasn't serving us. That was when we left. Between the obscene donkey statue out front (go see for yourself) and the lousy service by disinterested 20 somethings (if you get any at all that is), there's just no reason to bother. We went up the road to La Finca and had a much better time in a nicer little restaurant where they actually seemed pleased to have our business. read more

Best salsa I've had! Super friendly and entertaining staff. It has been remodeled which makes the interior much more inviting. Patio seating smells a bit dank. Good Texas fajitas, decent margaritas, and bland cheese dip. I order take out frequently, but always check your order before leaving as it is frequently missing items or not prepared as ordered. Having spent the last 30 years in San Diego and moving to Carrollton I was hungry for some real Mexican food. Unforntuately I still haven't found it in any of the so called Mexican Resturants in Carroll County....At the Lazy Donkey I ordered a Chimichagna(sp?) and got plain ground hamburger in a deep fried flour taco, wrapped like a package of some sort ready for mailing, with Sour Cream and Sour thin Guacamole drizzled on top with some lettuce...Yuck...The Chips and Salsa were Ok but not that great sort of on the Bland tastless side....The last place I ate in San Diego was actually at the Otay Mesa Border Crossing at this small resturant that knows how to cook Mexican food..The Chimichanga(sp?) was a folded in half large Taco shell full of marinated shredded beef with a tomatos sauce base with the lettuce, real Guacamole and Sour Cream ladled on top and Mexican cheese sprinkled on top...With a side of real refried Pinto Beans again in a red sauce, not the ground up baby food they serve here that they try to get away with as refried Beans with a little bit of Sour Cream drizzled on top with the overpowering taste of Celantro which is a "condiment", not the flavor of........So if you like "real" Mexican food I would not recomend the Donkey or anywhere in Carroll County and again, being single, they wait staff try to stick you into sitting at the Bar.....So again not a place for the Single person to eat.... read more
