Knowledgeable, reliable, honest, efficient, and caring. These are only a few words to describe Mike and his crew. Our pool was resurfaced 5 years ago and we've had nothing but problems with the light going out and a leak. It was under warranty for 3 years so the contractor who resurfaced it did the repairs while it was still under warranty. Little did we know is that he was just putting a ban-aide on it. Once again the light went out and the leak came back. We decided to go with another contractor for several reasons. Anyway, the first leak detector contractor we went with were total flakes. We couldn't get them to send us a written estimate AND he didn't even know if they warrantied their work. We were recommended by our new pool maintenance company Mike from The Leak Detectors. We contacted Mike. Set up an appointment to have the pool inspected AGAIN for leaks. They found leaks in 3 different places. All 3 leaks were different than what we had been told the previous times. Setting a date to have the repairs done was a bit of a concern for us because our grandchildren would be coming for a visit in a little over a week. We wanted to have the pool up and running during their visit. Mike says "No problem, we'll have it done." Mike kept his promise. They started draining the pool on Thursday. Finished all of the repairs by Saturday afternoon. The pool is being filled as I write this review. They left the pool area looking better than before they started the project. Since we purchased our house four years ago, we have had several leaks in our spool. The Leak Detector company had to remove my pool scupper due it's separation from the pool. The crew started the job on Thursday, afternoon and finished the entire project today. It had to be the hottest two days in La Quinta this year and the crew work continuously in the full sun. The workmanship and skills were outstanding. All were very polite and friendly. They cleaned up the property so well, you could not see that the scupper and pavers had been replaced. Their work ethic was simply outstanding. I'm surprised to find anything positive with this company. We needed leak detection work done. I spoke to Mike on a Monday where he said that soonest he could come have a look would be upcoming Thursday - Wednesday, we were going back and forth a bit on timing for the time of day where Mike said before 8am or at 10am which we opted for the latter time. When I tried to lock in the time, he (Mike) called and left a VM with a random out of the blue rudest business text I've ever seen from anyone (see photo of message) - long story short, super happy to never do business with this company, would never do business with them even if our house was sinking in a hole - too many other options with people who pride themselves on good business - run from this one!! read more

The Leak Detectors were great to work with ! Our pool was originally Paddock pool built in 1959. Measured 30'x15', 10' deep, 4' shallow. The plaster was falling off & needed replacing. Along with replacing it, we added to the length. The pool now measures 42'x15' with a Baja (tanning) shelf & quartz beach entry. Still 10' deep end, shallow end is now 1'. Stairs the width of pool added, making easier access for older people. Other extras we added were a bubbler/fountain on the Baja shelf and colored lights which multiple choices of colors which show off really well on the new ultra white plaster. When the lights are turned off during the day, the water appears to have a soft blue hue. read more

We went through three different people to look for the leaks in our pool. Had a new skimmer put in , also patched where we found a crack to the tune of a couple thousand dollars. We still were losing water Enter Mike and his crew. In full wetsuit they examined every inch of our pool and discovered that it was the old pipes for the hot tub that had corroded As we were in the midst of rental season, they fixed it enough that it would last for a while, until we could re plumb the lines. We ended up doing it sooner then we thought. All new return lines, replumbed the spa, new tile line, etc. Finished within a week and except for new cement you can barely tell. I can't recommend them enough. Specifically after the dude who fixed the initial "crack behind the tile in my tub" Quoted us 80- 100k cause we should pull the whole pool out . read more

I was using too much water and determined that it was my pool. I called Mike at Leak Detectors and they came the next morning. The inspection was very thorough and although there were three areas leaking none of them involved the plumbing. They returned two days later and worked hard in the heat and repaired all three areas. There are no visible signs of repair even though they had to chip out some plaster and stonework. All the men, on both days, were polite, helpful and efficient. My pool is watertight now. I used these guys and their crew did a fair job of relining our pool. However when it came to completing the work they became belligerent. Once things were ironed out I went to their company location to get a receipt and was treated with suspicion and rudeness. The out-front person, the owners son, verbally accosted me calling me and Asshole. It went downhill from there. One of the men who was present said this was not the first time this happened and that someone needs to teach the owners son a lesson. I suggest looking elsewhere for a company to redo your pool or for any other pool work. These guys are not at all professional. read more

Mike Lujan put in all new pool equipment, pipes and all and it appeared great. But when we were in escrow several years later, the home inspector discovered that there was no bond wire. So, I called Mike Lujan to come and fix this problem. He promised to send a guy tomorrow but he never came. I called a dozen more times and got the same run around. I guess this meant that he had to rip up all the pavers to install the bond wire so, having no integrity, he decided to stiff me on this fix. . . . This guy is a crook! . . Stay away! read more

We hired The Leak Detectors to put in a pool for us. Their team of workers came in and started digging immediately. Before we knew it we could see the beginnings of our new pool. They work fast, and are very efficient. Mike Lujan helped us tremendously coming up with a design that would work for our small space. We loved seeing the progress and kept adding to the pool job, which was no problem at all with Mike. Before we knew the pool was complete, with pavers for the decking around the pool, pavers on the side of the house, and also in our front courtyard. Mike came and looked at the pool and give us an honest opinion of what we should do and not do. The estimate was very reasonable and the timeframe to do it in was better than we expected. Terrible & NOT LICENSED! I called them for a condo leak and they said it was under the slab in the footing and would have to excavate. They charged a bundle and the leak turned out to be from the neighbors water heater. As always, be sure to check a contractors license. read more

Only time will tell if the job they did was a good one but, I can tell you that this company lacks big time in the area of customer service. We were not at our condo in Palm Springs when the leak was detected and our neighbor called Leak Detectors. They gave us two quotes, one for going in through the outside and one for going in through our living room floor as the leak was in the slab under our couch in the living room. We, of course opted for the them going in through the outside. The worker I spoke to on the phone said he would call me to let me know they were done so that I could give them my credit card number. He never called back. I later found out that my neighbor offered to pay and they took his credit card WITHOUT MY PERSMISSION!!! When I found out he paid, I called the company and got the owner on his cell phone. He asked me to call his office on Tuesday and that Susan would take care of it. I called Susan in the morning, explained the situation and she said there may be an additional charge to me if they had to reverse the credit card charge and then charge my card. I said I didn't think this was right as they did not follow through on our agreement and call me to get my credit card number. Did I say, I had NOT given permission to accept payment from anyone else? In any event, Susan said she had to call the owner, Mike, and would get back to me. Hours later, she called and said they would send me a receipt in my name but that I had to get the money to my neighbor myself. I said I didn't think this was right and she got huffy with me. She then asked for my email address when I said I wanted to get a receipt emailed but said she couldn't get my email address - that she was OLD and this was a long day (it was not even 2 in the afternoon). I finally gave her my fax number which she asked me to say VERY SLOWLY. Then I called Mike to express my dissatisfaction with his crew and his not reversing my neighbor's charge and charging my card. He started to yell at me when I said I would leave a yelp review. I hung up. He called back and continued to use profanity when speaking with me. We were looking for someone to do extensive work on our pool, refinish lining, replace coping and add an auto fill. Myles came out and returned a bid timely. When it came to finalizing, meet to choose colors, our email message went unanswered for five days. I emailed again asking to meet. At this time Myles said he was available M-F from 6 AM to 3 PM. We agreed on a day and time.....confirmed this info. Drove from San Diego for this meeting. Myles was no where to be seen. A phone call to him, he said he had no appointments that day. He checked again and said yes he saw the appoint., he could be here in 30 mins. No point meeting wasting more time with this company. read more

This is all about customer service - or the total lack of.... I received a quote for re-surfacing the pool. Called to ask them to come discuss one last time before they started the work. They showed up with a crew and began the work. OK - I guess we are clear, but please give me a schedule and explain what is to happen. Oh - you should have told me about the dust, I would have covered all the porch furniture. When did you say you were coming back? Oh surprise, glad I was home to unlock the gate when they showed up. You are going to clean up that mess all over the pool deck right??..... Well now I have power washed it....when are you coming back? Spoke to Mike about the total lack of communications and setting of expectations. When are you coming back. Again? You could have called. What are you going to do about the odd color streaks on the bottom of the pool. Oh, and WHEN is that you are coming to look. Gee, here here is the crew unannounced to clean those streaks.....you know you slopped acid on the new handrail.... Mike will come out to check the rail...... six weeks.... I buy a new one and install it myself and tell the credit card to reverse the charge. I did expect a phone call..... really? no response. While the pool is "acceptable" it is not perfect - and the company is a nightmare to work with. If you consider them get EVERYTHING in writing, and do not pay them until it is DONE to your satisfaction. read more
