I came here once after looking everywhere around my area for someone to cut my sons hair. Didn't get a good vibe from any of the other places and didn't want to wait til the weekend to go to the usual spot my husband takes him to. The moment we walked into Legacy Barber Shop we were immediately greeted by Josh and he was able to squeeze us in for a haircut- ever since then my son has built a relationship with him and is now excited to get his hair cut whereas before he never wanted to and completely refused. Josh is excellent with children, makes them feel heard and seen and engages with them in a way that should be recognized as not everyone has that ability. He listened to what my son wanted and explained how he would be able to achieve his hair goal. I will never forget how my son's face lit up when he got the look he had been asking for. I've been coming to Legacy Barbershop in Burbank for about six months, and James has been my barber. For clarity, he is the barber in the chair on the right as you enter the shop. During my last visit, I had mild congestion, and instead of behaving professionally, James made mocking comments and encouraged others to react as well. People were laughing and covering their mouths while he continued making inappropriate remarks. He is not a medical professional and clearly cannot distinguish between allergies and a common cold, yet felt comfortable humiliating a paying client. Additionally, while I understand that hair on the floor is normal in a barbershop, the level of cleanliness was unacceptable. There was hair everywhere, and it did not appear to be cleaned consistently. A shop like this should have a cleaning employee or at least rotate responsibility among staff to maintain basic hygiene. Came in as a walk in to get a cut fixed from my previous barber. Got picked up by Kav. Great taper on the sides but I don't think he was understanding what I was going for. Took it way too high in the back and have to wait a month for it to grow back to even cut it how I normally style it. If you have a little longer straight Asian hair. I scheduled an appointment via their web scheduler. I choose Dee to cut my hair. I paid for the haircut in advance, and when I arrived at 6:30 for my haircut, the shop was closed. So the haircut that I had already paid for was impossible to get, because there was no one there to cut my hair. I understand if something came up and they had to leave, but cancel and refund my prepaid amount. Now I have to cancel. Are there fees? Do I have to dispute the transaction? This is bad business. Welcome to the worst barbershop in Burbank/Glendale. The employees here are inexperienced. I watch them as they completely destroyed my hair. There is one gentleman in particular named Geo, who has no idea what he is doing. It's very important that you train your staff. if you cannot do something, there is no shame in admitting it. He knows a lot about different techniques and seems to be constantly learning what's up and coming. And his fades...wow! This guy knows how to work a clipper. Been coming here for over a year now and it's just an amazing barbershop. The owner James G seems to take all his barbers under his wing and teach them everything he knows. You can always hear them talking about styles and cuts and how to improve their game! It feels truly like a team there and the energy is just so amazing to see. The shop is always clean and always some good 90s / 00 Jams playing which makes an old guy like me feel young again! There's no ego here. I was really debating if I should write this comment or not. But I have decided to do it, since that barber thought he knew everything and was very unprofessional. Two weeks ago, I took my six years old son to get a hair cut. I am showing the barber his last hair cut and told him if he can cut it same way. That barber, I don't know his name (African American guy) didn't even look at the pictures. So I was like okay maybe he knows what he is doing. So 5-10 minutes later, I showed him that picture again and he is like I know what I am doing, I have done this over 20 years. I was like okay, cool, do your thing won't bother you. So my son got his haircut (I got busy, I was on the phone with a client) so I didn't pay attention how awful job he did until we got home. It was so bad that I had to take him to another barber next day, so they can fix it. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!, especially to that specific barber ( I have been doing this for 20 years) guess what brother, you still need 20 more years just to learn how to cut kids hair. However, being my first time here and the fact that it wasn't busy, I wish the staff would have been a bit more inviting when first walking in because the atmosphere of the place was great otherwise.
