Arenas' one of those rare, truly old school barbershops that are the source material for the modern old school (but wholly sanitized) barbershops that serve as a Bat Signal that you've entered the latest hip neighborhood. There's nothing hip about the block where you'll find Arenas', unless of course you recognize the magic in having a bar next door that specializes in board games or you want to have a cheat day with Colonel Sanders at the KFC on the corner. But all of this is OK because Burbank rules without even having to try. Go get a haircut from Kat at Arenas' and on the way home stop at the Train Shack and watch the model trains for a while or work off those buttermilk biscuits by taking some hacks at the Batcade. read more

Absolutely do not go here. My hair was ruined by ed the day of my wedding. It looks professional from the outside but the cut does not meet that. The guys hands were so shaking so bad he cut my ear with the clippers. When he was done he sounded very proud of his work but when i told him it was not what i wanted he said well how about i do this one in the house and I'll fix it for you next time. What can I say that anyone who has been to Arenas' and has had the best experience ever hasn't already said? I went in for a different reason this time. I usually see Ed for the most excellent and sharp fade but this time, I went in to trim my now very lengthy hair and made an appointment with Denise. Denise is quite possibly the sweetest person I have ever met with a personality to match and amazing skills. She gave me a perfect trim and even fixed up my sideburns and mustache while she was at it. I am very happy to say that I will be a regular of hers and am already looking forward to my next visit. Would go lower if possible. 1. Received a haircut that I did not ask for, nor was anything like the picture down to me prior. 2. I politely leave and call over the phone to request a refund as to not disrupt the business. 3. Was basically blackmailed to take down my post in exchange for the refund I was promised. After trying to politely waiting to ask for my refund then being coerced for 20 Minutes: It they don't play around. If you're black, get ready for a high top fade because that's the only black cut they know how to do and they are too prideful to admit it. I've been coming here for about a year and I think I can truly make an honest decision on arenas barber shop. Had my haircut today by Jarett who was extremely accommodating and listened to all of my ideas for how I wanted my hair to look including an expertly done hard part . He couldn't have done a better job. To be honest it's one of the cooler haircuts I've gotten in a long long time. I've also had my hair cut by everyone except the very nice woman who works there as well and all of them have done a masterful job. They all create a very warm staple barbershop atmosphere that also makes getting your haircut very fun. I honestly can't think of a better place to recommend to get a fantastic haircut. I never write reviews but I felt after living in Burbank for over 40 years and my experience with the owner of this barbershop arena I need to write this review I went in there and ask them to cut my hair off arena looked at me with a shop full of white only customers and stated to me that she does not do my type of hair that I can go to the Armenian shop next-door note that I am African-American retired and have gone in this barbershop before but yet she tells me that she cannot do my type of hair because it is kinky and it takes a special type of training this Was said to me with only Caucasian customers being serviced at this time this is so embarrassing and humiliating as all the white customers and workers looked at me as if I did something wrong by entering their establishment. i truly hope that Arena reads this and remember that day and that moment And open her heart and mind to break this cycle and become more diverse in truly serving the community. read more

Took my five year old in today. A kid who is notorious for hating haircuts. Denise, the owner, changed that for good. Maybe he just hated the haircuts I'd been taking him to! Lots of noise and kids, some crying. She worked quickly but with expertise. She kindly guided him through sitting still, probably better than Mom did. Lol. Such a great atmosphere and an all around wonderful experience. It felt like a BIG deal that he was now at the REAL barber. She gave him an amazing haircut with the little she had to work with. This place is warm inviting and personable I been going to another local barber shop but never felt like I belonged or was even wanted?? My main barbor Arby has always been consistent and reliable, very professional and takes his time to make sure your haircut is on point! I have never been rushed or left disappointed. Arby is very knowledgeable, has mastered the craft and caters to any occasion. I've been on the hunt for a new barber for some time. Imagine paying $35 for a kids haircut which took over an hour! When I would take both boys= two hours at the barber shop!!! So, Yelp to the rescue! After a day at the park, I decided to get the kids mop chopped off. As we walked in, we were kindly greeted with a beautiful bright smile. Eddie "Spaghetti ", came over to us and the little kid quickly warmed up and sat in his chair. 13 minutes later, we were done and it only cost me $23 (with $5 tip). I am beyond elated! Been coming here for a couple years. Steve and Arbi have taken great care of me. They listen to what you want, most importantly. I usually go for a taper fade, and scissor trim off the top. Sometimes I have some specific instructions on the shape of the cut, and they nail it every time. read more

I found this place on Yelp, and went in one Saturday to get a haircut after letting my hair grow far too long. My barber, Denise, was very attentive and did a very good job despite my nebulous description of what I wanted. My haircut came out great, and the price was right. Not much else needs to be said. And it's got that old-timey barber shop feel, too. My roommate also tried it out recently, and he had only had his hair cut by his mom and sister (who own a salon), and was very satisfied. It's walk-ins everyday but Thursday, as you can schedule an appointment that day for a few extra bucks. My wait on a Saturday around 10 am was only about ten minutes or so. read more

I randomly stumbled into this barbershop after moving to the neighborhood a few years ago and never bothered to go anywhere else, Steve & Denise (the owners) are fantastic. Their cuts are great and reasonably priced, and it's always a very welcoming atmosphere. My favorite barbershop I've ever visited...sad that I am moving away so I won't be getting my cuts there anymore. There is plenty of street parking nearby, haircuts are under $20, and the atmosphere is good. On select days they also have a masseuse in the shop to offer chair massages. Arenas' Barbers Shop is like going Back to the Future for anyone that grew up going to a barber shop instead of a cut and blow "factory" The only thing missing was a guy in the corner shining shoes.
