I called The Fade Factory several days before sending my 13-year-old son down for a haircut. When I asked about the price for a basic cut, the young lady who answered told me it would be $45 (not including tip). Her response was a bit matter-of-fact -- not especially engaging -- but I appreciated having a clear number to plan around. Based on that, I gave my son $45 plus a 15% tip in cash to bring with him. When he went in, however, the haircut ended up being $50. Since he only had $52 with him, the tip ended up being much smaller than intended. I felt bad about that, because we always want to make sure the barber is tipped fairly -- and the cut itself was very well done. Overall, we were happy with the quality of the haircut and the skill of the barber. The only frustration was the difference between the quoted price and the in-person charge. A little more consistency and friendliness on the front end would make an already good experience truly excellent. read more

Barber kept wildly swinging the chair back and forth unnecessarily. He also was unable to understand the goatee lines I wanted and left me with an uneven and sloppy face. I usually go to Kathy for my haircuts; she always does a great job. But I wanted to take a moment to highlight and praise Richiee (Richard Valdivia) for his incredible work. Last week, I needed a haircut, but Kathy wasn't available, so I made the mistake of going to Floyd's Barbershop in Woodland Hills. They charged me $50 for what looked like a haircut from a teaching barber school. The barber completely butchered my hair, there was a harsh line where the fade should have been, and it was just a mess. I asked if Kathy could fix it, but she wasn't available. That's when I walked next door and found Richiee, who was able to take me in on Sunday morning. I honestly thought my hair was beyond saving, but Richiee worked his magic and completely fixed it. I called in pretty late and at last minute before the shop closed for the day. I decided to take a chance and see if they could take a last minute job. I was ready to be told no but instead I was told "of course! well be here" That person was Chris Navarro. Chris was very respectful and kept his mask on the entire time. My son is on the autism spectrum and he spoke to him the entire time letting him know what he was going to do next in a calm and friendly way (my son is hyper sensitive around his neck and ears). This is likely the most important review you will read about the Fade Factory 1 on Magnolia here in Burbank. I want to preface this with, my son and I both love the cuts we received today. Probably the best fade my son has ever had in his 17 years of life. Chris Navarro was our barber and he did an excellent and clean job on our noggins. So we will be back for another cut for sure. That said there is just one thing we really feel this shop needs. BASS!!!! How do you have a barber shop called the Fade Factory catering to a young crowd playing R&B and hip hop coming from a Sony TV with 1" tweets facing the wall? Come on man. Just a simple sound bar with a sub would solve this problem and would have made my review a 5 star review. You can get them used for $80-$200 and it would change the whole vibe. I know because I was going to donate one to the shop so I started looking. Hahahaha. I would like to make a plea to ownership to pick up a sound bar and subwoofer and connect them to that Sony TV. Hands down this place is the bomb.com. I've been coming to them for 1 year and a half now, since their first shop and never received mediocre service. Very friendly barbers, always busy AF so please make sure to make an appointment. I come to Jorge. He is really good and fairly priced. His fades are on point.
