Came here for dinner on a Friday night, made reservations the day before and options were fairly limited. We had made the reservation for a hightop since that's all that was available inside, but to our delight we were seated at an actual table when we arrived. Two of us ordered a variety of apps and one main to share. We started with the beef tartare, cabbage, oysters, and beet crostini, then got the duck pappardelle ragu. To drink we each ordered two different cocktails. I loved the pasta, both of my martinis, and the cabbage. My boyfriend pointed out that the cabbage didn't taste a lot like miso or chili oil, which is what he was excited for, but this was still one of my favorite dishes. The ragu didn't have a ton of meat, but it was still so good, I would without a doubt order it again. The oysters were also good, but at $4 a pop, I'll enjoy those on a Wednesday when they have them on special for half the price. The beef tartare wasn't super oniony, which I did like, but the meat pieces were a little bigger than I'd expect and it just felt like it was missing something. The beet crostini was good, but it felt a little pricey for what it was and I would skip it next time. It feels a lot less upscale and much more casual. - Service (2*) Two servers came by trying to take our order. The second server came back around another time to "make sure" we had our order taken. The cauliflower came out blazing fast (even before the drink arrived). Then there was a long wait before mains arrived. At the end, the waitress gave me the wrong bill (always check before you pay!) - Cauliflower, $20 (5*) Cooked perfectly. Carrot puree was to die for. Great flavors. Nice spice kick. - Burger, $27 (3*) Asked for medium- it was well done. The burger itself got a bit soggy. - Fries, $12 (5*) Slight crisp, good seasoning. Nice sauce. - Value (2*) The burger comes on its own with no sides. So, when you think about it, it's a $39 burger with fries. That's pretty high. - Final Word Used to love this place, but there feels like a little lack of care now. I would also note that the 4 course prix fixe pricing seems a bit out of whack if the chef is simply picking things off the menu. We had an early dinner here on a Saturday night. I was disappointed to find that the food and service no longer match the 5 stars I gave this place 2 years ago. We started with the skillet cornbread and that was a pretty good appetizer. I wasn't a fan of the saffron butter, I don't think it blended well with the sweetness of the cornbread. Afterwards, we all ordered our meals to share. The Ribeye Steak was probably the best of the meals, but it was very fatty which made a good portion of the steak inedible. Our friend ordered the Pappardelle al Ragu di Anatra. It was the absolute tiniest serving I have ever seen as a main meal. It was served using a plate that was so large and had a small fist shaped indention in the middle that held the meal. I wish I had taken a photo, but I was at that point so embarrassed that I had suggested coming here. The Gnocchi and mussels was in the same category. There was a bit more to this meal, but not much. We did get a large plate of French Fries for everyone to share as the meals were so skimpy. We asked for some ketchup with the fries and our server absolutely forgot and never came back until we had almost finished the fries. I truly was embarrassed that I had suggested meeting here. They came with a cool black paste thing. Pasta: -Gnocchi -Parpadelle and Ragu The pastas were both great! We ordered the appetizer which was pretty good and the entree were descent but not as good as before as this place must have a different owner. We were dissatisfied with our service and after the entree came we ate and the server just brought the check. We waited for another 15 min to let her know we wanted to see the desert menu but was that a mistake as the desert were very mid. I came back to this place after a very long time. I was disappointed. The food was good. The ambiance was great. The servers were nice, buts it's not the same from the very first time I came. It seems like there is no longer a great chef at this location. And the Asian fusion that it once had is gone. The tequila drink they had, is experimental and just not good. (Sorry) The waygu burger comes with no fries--you have to order it as a side--a burger with no fries, it's a shame to call it a burger. The duck dish was good. It was like a lasagna. Appetizers--hmm nothing really appetizing A charcuterie board--with pepperoncinis, tiny pickles, cheese, bread, the jam/honey, spread, the hams. It was okay, nothing impressive about it. I think I'd change it to include some sort of fruit, chocolate, or nuts. This place is great if all you want is tiny plates of random things and drink. They have a full bar and they can make whatever you'd like. I was very happy with the service however. Tiffany our server is pleasant and quick. Loved her! To be fair, we visited for Mother's Day lunch, so the menu was understandably more limited than usual. Still, the overall experience felt much more casual compared to when I used to come here 12 or so years ago, when it had a more elevated and refined atmosphere. The service staff seemed fairly inexperienced, the interior decor now feels a bit dark and dated, and the food portions were surprisingly small. The food itself was good overall, but the limited selection was disappointing and left us wanting more variety. Went for Mother's Day brunch. It was a disaster. They obviously were not prepared to serve the brunch. I think they said it was the chefs first day? We sat down at 11:15. I was served at 12:15 and my husband at 12:40 and my son and 12:50. Mine was cold so they reheated( tiny French toast) my husband's was good. My son's eggs Benedict was hard boiled. While waiting they offered us a free cocktail to apologize. They finally offered to comp the entire meal. The waitress was very apologetic. Just had one of the best dining experiences at Lexington House in Los Gatos. From start to finish, this place delivers. Let's start with the food -- The crostini and hamachi crudo? Unreal. Cute spot in downtown Los Gatos! My party of 7 came by for post-dinner drinks Saturday night around 8:30. I loved the ambiance here, especially outdoors, with all the lights. We were seated outdoors, so I can't speak to the inside, but I'm sure it's nice as well. They offer a good selection of cocktails. I got the White Lotus ($17), which is composed of coconut rum, Oaxaca rum, vermouth, and lime, and has pandan "caviar". It was a nice light drink that wasn't too sweet, and the pandan caviar at the bottom was interesting. Because we were here for a bachelorette celebration, our server Ashley was super nice and offered to bring us some desserts on the house to munch on. We tried all three: Buttermilk and corn panna cotta - good panna cotta but I definitely didn't taste any corn. Also we all found it overly sweet Mangoes and cream - my favorite of the desserts as I love mangoes. Also the mango wasn't super sweet so I appreciated that as both the other desserts were super sweet Ice cream for bears "Chocturnal" ice cream - solid ice cream, though I'm not sure where the olive oil came in? Originally, we had the intention to relax after long work week, getting drinks and snacks with my husband at Soda Works, but due to being insulted by their employee - we left. So glad we did because we found Lexington House. Although they seemed busier than Soda Works, the employees welcomed us with kind smiles. Offered inside or outside table options; we chose inside which we enjoyed the ambiance. We were quickly greeted by the friendly server taking our orders. Their drinks were amazing! Unlike other places, their cocktails were so smooth and not overly sweet. My husband loved their old fashioned, not too sweet, with the right amount of whisky. We tried 3 more of their cocktails and they all were perfectly made. For food, we ordered the chicken liver mouse, mussels, and wagwu steak; their food was made with Michelin qualities - the steak was better than Alexander in my opinion. Small cozy restaurants with lots of high tops inside. Regular tables seem limited if you want to sit inside so it's best to get reservations. Food was ok, we asked for recommendations and got the Braised short ribs, market fish branzino, beets, and fries. Short ribs were a bit salty, and the branzino was delicious but it's the smallest bite of fish that I've seen plated especially when it's listed as an entree. For dessert we really liked the sesame panna cotta but the chocolate cake was mush with ice cream. Overall the food was just ok and we won't be back. read more

The passion that once defined Lex feels like it's gone with the new ownership. The food quality has noticeably dipped--everything just felt a bit off. The $72 ribeye tasted like a slight step above a basic choice cut, not at all what you'd expect at that price point. The burger was pretty underwhelming--covered in mustard and lacking the rich, balanced flavor profile which previou old menu used to nail. Even the cheese board felt mismatched; the cheeses and meats didn't complement each other at all. Service was okay, but nothing special. It no longer has that warm, local vibe that used to make Lex feel like a gem. It's clear the old chef isn't running the kitchen anymore--you could taste his passion in every dish. And with the longtime staff gone, so is the heart and soul that made the place unique. Really sad to see what it's become, but still wishing them the best of luck moving forward. read more

I booked a Thanksgiving dinner reservation at Lexington House through OpenTable for 5:30 PM. Shortly after booking, our local paper published a Thanksgiving dining guide that included Lexington House's hours and special menu. That article stated the restaurant would not open until 6:00 PM and would not be serving a traditional turkey dinner, instead offering a four-course prix fixe with duck or steak. Because our reservation time was before the restaurant opened and the menu did not meet our Thanksgiving plans, we decided to dine elsewhere. I attempted to cancel through OpenTable, but was advised to call the restaurant directly. I called four times: Twice left voicemail messages Spoke directly with "Moose" and later with "Victoria" Both were very pleasant and confirmed my reservation would be canceled. Despite this, I was later charged $300.00 ($50 per person) for a no-show fee. After seeing the charge, I contacted the restaurant again and spoke with Victoria, who took my OpenTable confirmation number and details. She told me the owner was in Italy and that he would be informed. I never received a follow-up. I then went in person to the restaurant and spoke with Victoria again. She advised the owner had returned and would be reminded. I even offered to accept a gift certificate instead of a refund if processing the cancellation was difficult. Again--no response. At this point, I have made every reasonable effort to resolve this directly and in good faith. The reservation was canceled properly, well in advance, and due to published information showing the restaurant was not open at our reserved time. Charging a no-show fee under these circumstances--especially after multiple confirmations of cancellation--is unfair and disappointing. I hope Lexington House reconsiders how this was handled and provides appropriate customer service moving forward. read more

Where do I even begin? When we arrived, they initially tried to seat us inside by the front door, but it was freezing--so that was a definite no-go. I requested to move to the bar instead, as there was plenty of space. At first, they hesitated, but eventually, they let us sit there. Soon after, I went to use the restroom. Only one of the two restrooms was available, and when I walked in, I noticed the previous person had left the toilet seat up. When I closed it, the movement must have been too much because the diffuser on the back of the toilet fell to the floor. Worse yet, the diffuser sticks landed right in the toilet. Absolutely disgusting. I had to fish them out with paper towels. I let the owner know so they wouldn't keep placing the diffuser in such a precarious spot. Back at my seat, I ordered a drink and started looking over the menu. We placed our dinner orders, but 20 minutes later, the bartender returned to inform me that my dish--a cheeseburger--was no longer available. A few minutes later, my boyfriend's meal arrived, leaving me scrambling to pick something quickly so he wouldn't feel bad eating alone. I opted for the Barraco's pappardelle. The bartender disappeared into the kitchen, only to return moments later to tell me it was too late to place an order. At this point, I asked if there was anything they could make that wouldn't require a big production in the kitchen. The only option they offered was the Grilled Caledonia prawns. At that point, I didn't care--I just needed something. Then they brought it out. The prawns were completely intact, shells and all. My appetite instantly disappeared. My boyfriend, being the sweetheart that he is, took it upon himself to peel them for me so I could at least take a few bites. But honestly, once I see something like that, I lose interest in eating altogether. Needless to say, I do not recommend this establishment, nor will we be back. read more
