We went for a work dinner. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and main courses. The food was good, but the service was very slow and weird. When we sat down, nobody talked to us for a while. We had to flag the waiter to order drinks, then again food. He left in the middle of the food order and we had to call him back to finish ordering appetizers. He left again before we could order mains. We eventually ordered everything. All appetizers came out, food was nice. Later all main dishes came out except for one, they said it should come out soon, which was 20+ minutes... the overall experience wasn't great, but the food was good

My wife and I loved our date night at Dar. This spot is well known to us, having been to Nick's and Eleven College Avenue many times befarrr. We dined on the patio rather than inside or at the barrr. We started with the Mediterranean Trio's 3 dips and fluffy warm pita, a dish we hold in high regarrrd. Are there good veggie entree options too? Why yes in fact there arrre! I had an amazing veggie-forward risotto that was not in the least bit subparrr. My wife liked her Confit Duck Pastilla - duck in a filo dough shell - which was good but oddly sweet, bringing a tasty touch of the bizarrre. We'll come again soon because we don't live very farrr, a nice walk or a few minutes by carrr. The Dar experience was so good with such good food and service, I can't leave off even one starrr.

The cauliflower was amazing and my favorite dish. I also had the shrimp from the small plates menu, very tasty. We were attended to right away and had a beautiful outdoor seat in perfect weather after our 5 mile walk from San Jose. The decorations and layout is a quiet and relaxing environment. Food was bright to us right away and to finish, I'm enjoying an Espresso Martini.

Good tasting food, nice outdoor patio, excellent service (from Katrina). This was a nice break from our usual Saturday lunch after our bike ride. The Tarragon Lamb pita was on point, especially when paired with the Fatoush salad. They also have a good selection of beers on tap, etc. The Blond Ale was light and refreshing!

Fresh and flavorful elevated Mediterranean in a smaller intimate setting. The cocktails are also refreshing and balanced with the right amount of booze. The lunch menu was varied and had vegetarian options as well. The lamb is tender, can't go wrong with that option. The pita pockets are so satisfying with the filling having the correct ration of meat and veggies. I really enjoyed the eggplant pita pocket/sandwich. The service is quick and friendly! The larger parking next to the restaurant is convenient and usually available.

Look at this amazing steak plate!

Amazing service, super friendly staff with a great setting. Food was fantastic! Highly recommend it!

Came here for happy hour and enjoyed the good food and friendly service. We sat outside and had a heater to keep us warm. The drinks were good, the small bites tasty (well seasoned and reasonable portions) and nice variety. We'd recommend this place and will come back again.

Food: 4.5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4.5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no but toast tab Return worthiness: yes Eve award: best quality cocktails in taste and presentation Highlights: - Cocktail quality: everything is top notch and fantastic - Cocktail uniqueness: drinks are truly their own creations you can't find elsewhere. Love the creativity. - Fun glassware: for some they have great receptacles to go with the personality of the drink - Theatrical ones: those are the creme de le creme and so much fun. I've had them all. Faves of those: -- Dead men tell no tales: pirate themed comes in a chest you can open and the drinks are in diamond shaped glasses. But it's not just a fun show. The drink is amazing. A smooth, complex, clarified bunch. 5 stars -- Magic carpet one: when they had that it was one of my faves I'd order regularly. 5 stars -- Rinse and repeat: one of their classics which comes in a bathtub complete with foam and a rubber duckie. Refreshing and not sweet. 4.5 stars - New for the summer. Tried a few -- Bear necessities: little honey bear with cantaloupe, white miso, and sauvignon blanc. Quite delicious and summery. 4.5 -- Open container: artsy clear version of a paper bag. Interesting ingredient mix with Havana club rum, fermented pineapple, almond milk, and others. Little bit sweet. 4 stars - Their now more standard drinks are still some of the ones I still rely one. Faves of those: -- Studio 54: vodka based with lemongrass and bubbles served in a shiny colored disco ball glass 5 stars -- Man and his mule: peppercorn version of a mule and love the peppery kick. 4.5 stars -- Grand larceny: punch of a spirit forward cocktail my husband loves. 4.5 stars - Rotate out cocktails ever so often to maximize the fun - Halloween and Christmas they go all out with their unique menus and decor: no generic national pop ups for them and I look forward to it every year. - Food items: high quality as well. Some of my go tos -- Crab toasts: 4 little pieces of lovely toast with a dollop of avocado mousse and a heap of dungenous crab topped with lemon beurre blanc. My fave snack I always have to get. 5+ stars -- Grilled cheese: wonderful combo of white cheddar, monterey jack, and provolone with a bit of truffle flavor--not too much--on a nice fluffy roll. Served with soup to dip it in--often times a nice tomato. 4.75 stars -- French dip: solid version on the same type of roll. 4.5 stars - Can make reservations now online which makes it a lot more convenient - Wines: have a fabulous wine by the glass list but I can't ever pull myself away from the cocktails - Bourbon/whiskey: have a stellar collection and knowledgeable staff to tell you about them (but again never get to it) - Staff: friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable - Atmosphere: relaxed yet fun Midlights: - They used to have a nice nut mix I enjoyed but not on the menu anymore Lowlights: - Books up for the holidays so grab those reservations when you can

The service was great, the drinks were delicious, and the light bites were surprisingly good across the board. We had the Kobe "Eye of Ribeye" Steak Tartare, Prime Rib Beef Dip, Heirloom Tomato & Burrata, Lobster Roll, Black Truffle Deviled Eggs, Dungeness Crab Toast, and the Hamachi Crudo. The only thing that wasn't really our favorite was the deviled eggs, but everything else was solid. Overall, a great spot for a drink and a few bites. On my most recent trip, our reservation unexpectedly grew by a few people, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We really appreciated how hard they worked to make it happen! The cocktails are next level creative, delicious, and unlike anything you'll find at your average bar. My absolute favorite is the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom shot! And of course, we always order the caviar because... why not? The vibe here is everything. Whether it's girls' night, date night, or a celebration, there's always an amazing crowd. The DJ knows exactly how to read the room and keeps everyone singing along/ dancing with banger after banger. One night there was even a live saxophonist who absolutely stole the show, it made the whole experience feel so special! I also love the Renaissance inspired artwork by the entrance featuring icons like Drake, 2Pac, Sade, and more. It's such a cool touch and adds to the atmosphere. No big deal, as I wanted the bar anyway, but something others should keep in mind. The cocktail list is plentiful and intriguing. I tend to avoid tequila, so that eliminated a good chunk of the options. I went with Rose Colored Lenses, which was fantastic, and decently sized. Presentation was beautiful. My friend had All a Dream, also very good. The wine offerings are minimal, this is very much a cocktail or champagne type of place, with caviar being the primary food service. Speaking of service, the bartender was excellent, both in his mixology and demeanor. It took awhile to get the drinks, but I assume that was due to the complexity of the cocktails, paired with having just opened the doors a few min earlier. Two notes: 1. The barstools were a little too low, imo. I don't normally pay much attention to that detail, but these were uncomfortably low for me, even with my long torso, I was hyper aware of my posture. So maybe that's actually a good thing 2. Other patrons were rolling in shortly behind me, so there is probably an early crowd when they first open, then a late night group that appreciates the 2am closing time. Interior is beautiful, and you can use the steps up to the 2nd floor either from N Santa Cruz or the rear parking lot off W Main. More substantial food options are a mere few steps across the hall at Heritage.

If you're hoping to sit inside, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. My friend and I both ordered the smash burger and I've got to say it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bread pudding. It was a 1000/10! Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and the texture was incredible. If you're on the fence about dessert, just order it, you won't regret it. The only minor downside was that the sodas were very flat and tasted a bit syrupy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the overall experience was excellent for such a cute spot in downtown Los Gatos. Will definitely be returning soon!

We had made the reservation for a hightop since that's all that was available inside, but to our delight we were seated at an actual table when we arrived. Two of us ordered a variety of apps and one main to share. We started with the beef tartare, cabbage, oysters, and beet crostini, then got the duck pappardelle ragu. To drink we each ordered two different cocktails. I loved the pasta, both of my martinis, and the cabbage. My boyfriend pointed out that the cabbage didn't taste a lot like miso or chili oil, which is what he was excited for, but this was still one of my favorite dishes. The ragu didn't have a ton of meat, but it was still so good, I would without a doubt order it again. The oysters were also good, but at $4 a pop, I'll enjoy those on a Wednesday when they have them on special for half the price. The beef tartare wasn't super oniony, which I did like, but the meat pieces were a little bigger than I'd expect and it just felt like it was missing something. The beet crostini was good, but it felt a little pricey for what it was and I would skip it next time. The service staff seemed fairly inexperienced, the interior decor now feels a bit dark and dated, and the food portions were surprisingly small. The food itself was good overall, but the limited selection was disappointing and left us wanting more variety. I may give their dinner service another try sometime down the road, but for now, I probably won't be returning anytime soon.

I appreciated the bartender allowing me to try the citrus beer first before ordering it - it was good, but maybe not full pint good. She said that some people don't care for it and it was better for me to try it first. I ended up ordering an IPA, one of the most popular apparently. Anyway, great service there. The Brussel sprouts off the main menu were very good and reasonably priced, nicely roasted and flavored. Generous portion. We ordered the rest of the items off the Happy Hour menu as we wanted to sample a lot of smaller items to get a sense of the breadth of their menu. Everything was good! The corned beef and cabbage slider was good and about what you'd expect. The Shepard's pie potato skin was nicely done in a compact size with good sauce. The Red Hot Royalty (spicy hot dog with fixings on top) was satisfying and about what you'd expect when looking at the picture. And the sausage roll was very nice because that curried ketchup made it special. The only thing that was a little not-great was they had a World Cup drink bundle that apparently overrode their usual Happy Hour discount on the beer - would have been nice to know about that beforehand as it would have changed my drink order. Or for them to acknowledge that it wasn't clear and just give the usual happy hour pricing for beer. Not a huge deal, just a bit subpar but didn't dock a star for that.

We were wrapping it up so we just dealt with it. On my way out, I noticed there was a party up by the bar, which explained the music. The brick walls and blackboards looked familiar. There's still a long table in the middle. With the new chairs and tablecloths, the place looked more classy than before. The floating shelves at the top of the walls were all lined with wine bottles. There're some gigantic bottles towards the back as well. It's quite a nice place to have a quiet, intimate dinner with the causal, yet upscale vibe. There're about eight tables (1-2 persons@) while we're there, and service was attentive, despite having only one server. For the $80 dinner for 2 special, we got to pick one item from each of the first two selections to share, two entrees, and one beignet each. We also added a beet salad to share, and my husband had the wine pairing. For our first course, the two baked oysters were cheesy and rich. It would be better if they were bigger, though. Our second course, the caramelized onion soup was perfectly prepared, one of the best I had ever had. The beet salad was refreshing, and the dressing was so tasty that it made arugula tasted good. I had the sole as my entree; it was cooked well, light and delicious. I took a bite of my husband's slow braised short ribs; it was tender and flavorful. The beignets were delightful, and paired really well with the dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce. I really appreciated that all their hot dishes came out really hot. Meanwhile, other parties who arrived after us were attended to right away, which made the situation even more frustrating. After more than 30 minutes of being completely ignored, we decided to leave. It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing dining experiences we've had. As strong supporters of local restaurants, this was especially disheartening given how much we used to enjoy coming here. Sadly, this experience has permanently changed how we feel about this place, and we won't be returning. I hope the staff takes this as a reminder that every customer deserves the same level of attention and respect.
