I'm a fan of their breakfast - I've gone to Breaking Dawn a few times and curious about their dinner. Had a free night so my husband and I decided to try it out. Reservations were easy to make, even on a Friday. Dinner was great! Drinks looked delicious but we aren't big drinkers and just focused on their food. We started with the mushrooms and Caesar salad. Never had furikake on a salad but really good! We shared the sugar cane skewers and the chicken with ube rice. So so so good. Service was great- they checked on us multiple times. Maybe we came on an off time but everytime we visit, it's very quiet. Not sure why cuz I would be here everyday if I could. Bar was busy though. Will be back soon.

Gorgeous insides, dirty menus, very tasteful and balanced cocktails. The small bites were good especially the crispy rice tuna bites. The longevity noodles with beef were tasty yet a bit sweet. Service was sweet and kind and helpful. Took too long to get our drinks and 1 of 4 was a glass of wine. Drinks came out way after our shared apps. The rice rolls were chewy-skinned and hard to eat. Perfectly cooked brussel sprouts. expensive yet upscale ambience. I hope they make it. 5 ppl in the entire place for 2.5 hrs.

Came here with my wife and a couple of friends. This place was recommended by our friends. Great rec!! Staff is so friendly and attentive. Our server had a great personality and was fun. The dining area is spacious. Even with lots of tables, the space didn't feel cramped. There's a mechanical burger station against the wall too. Someone ordered a burger so I was able to see it in action. That was fun to watch. Everything we ordered, from the small bites to the dessert, was excellent! Rice Bites was tasty, and the rice had a good crunch. Truffle Fries was good, though I've had better. Caesar Salad was good as well. Shake'n Beef was tender with good flavor. As You Wish - the chicken was moist and delicious. The Ube sticky rice gave the dish a nice sweetness. Couch Potato cocktail paired well with the As You Wish entree. The chocolate dessert (can't remember the name) was very rich. Have with coffee. The banana dessert (can't remember the name either) was very good. Too easy to eat, very light and not too sweet. I will definitely be returning!

Amazing food and drinks, but what was more amazing were all the people working there! Sean, Maia, Sam, and Austin were all an absolute pleasure! What a wonderful evening spent chatting with them. One of us is a Pescatarian and Sean was amazing at recommending the food we could eat. I don't recall having such an amazing time with my group and mainly the team members. Sean went on to describe the story behind First Borne. Wow, pretty cool! I could not initially find the restaurant, but know that it is literally right next door to The Discovery Shop. I cannot wait to go back!

I'd been meaning to try First Born Los Gatos for a while, and managed to snag a same-day dinner reservation on a Saturday. The interior had elegant, modern decor with a pretty chandelier and plush seating. It was lively but quiet enough to easily have a conversation. We skipped drinks (although the cocktails looked intriguing) and ordered food right away. I was curious about their "burger-bot" - a large robot which assembled items from the burger menu, but was more tempted by the Asian-fusion dishes. My partner and I ordered the Surf & Turf Rolls, Crispy Rice, and Longevity Noodles with Chicken to share. Everything was delicious! I'm obsessed with salad rolls and the Surf & Turf Rolls were a more elevated take on this. The Crispy Rice had a nice, firm texture with fresh tuna on top. The sauce in the Longevity Noodles was surprisingly sweet, but it worked well with the dish. This one was very filling! Service was friendly and attentive. Worth the visit!

First Born in Los Gatos is a modern Vietnamese gem! This restaurant was visually stunning yet comfortable -- I loved the high ceilings, statement chandelier, luxurious gold details and plush seating. We ordered: - FUN GUY (battered mushrooms, jalapeno, lemon aioli) - RICE BITES (ahi tuna, onions, cucumbers, green onions, sesame, house dressing on crispy rice) - TOFU SPRING ROLLS (lemongrass tofu, veggies, vermicelli noodles, sunflower butter sauce) - BURGERBOTS LEMONGRASS TOFU BURGER (tofu, lettuce, pickle, onions, house aioli + house fries) Everything we tried was perfectly executed and full of vibrant, true-to-Vietnamese flavors. The Burger Bot was underwhelming and the lemongrass tofu burger didn't quite hit the mark, but everything else more than made up for it. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, First Born is perfect for anyone who wants a delicious and memorable Vietnamese meal. Can't wait for our next visit :)

First born is an Asian fusion restaurant that fixes Vietnamese traditional food with a modern American twist. I love how creative the food is here and was really excited to try. The service and ambiance was great, perfect for a date night out. However the food was just ok. I would try it once but not sure if I would come back again.

I'd been wanting to try First Born for months, and finally got the chance to stop in. Coincidentally, the friend I was with had been wanting to see the Burger Bot that resides somewhere in Los Gatos, and that ended up being at First Born. We arrived shortly before close, but Taylor at the bar took good care of us. They had to fire of the Bot, previously shut down for the night, so that took some time. Perfect chance to enjoy some wine and check out the restaurant space. There are a lot of tables in the open space, and I'm curious if it gets really loud during peak hours. I will have to go back and test out that scene. Plus, the burger wasn't much of a Pan Asian representation, so I'd like to experience more of the menu. But a robot making my burger was too intriguing to pass up, so that was what we ordered. It was pretty cool to see I'm action! Unfortunately, the patty was over cooked to my medium preference, and the pickles could have been added more generously. The accompanying fries were good, and overall, the burger was enjoyable, if not gourmet. I'm also hoping to try the breakfast side of the restaurant, called Breaking Dawn, open 9am-3pm. And what a concept to split the time to maximize patrons, one restaurant and menu in the AM/ early PM fir brunch, and a different for dinner. This time in was a 4 star food experience, but 5 stars to Taylor for the excellent service. Hopefully I can upgrade my review after returning and trying more of the offerings.

Nice decor restaurant and spacious. Good service, delicious food. Definitely recommend! I'm Vietnamese. I love real Vietnamese flavorful food and they deliver. They are all delicious but the sticky fingers could be better. - As you wish: Roti chicken with ube sticky rice. Freshly made per order so it might take longer. - Sticky fingers: fish sauce chicken wings. Maybe a tad salty. It could be better. - Shaking beef: really good flavor! - Rice bites: yummy. - Salted crema coffee: good Vietnamese coffee - Palisade pumpkin cocktail: it's surprisingly good, well balanced.

Our party of 4 came in on a cold Saturday, late afternoon, with reservations that weren't really necessary (though that could've been due to weather or time (4pm)) because there were very few patrons there. We all ordered several drinks and a couple of appetizers, but no entrees. The appetizers (fried mushroom and truffle fries) were great and so were the drinks. The inside aesthetic of the restaurant is nice; great for a date night or night out for cocktails with friends. I'll definitely be coming back again.

When I arrived for my reservation for my first time, the waitress brought me to the tables outside and said I could pick my table. I loved that the sun was shining at the table I picked. After she showed me the menus, I ordered a rose from the happy hour (3-5). I also asked for the wi-fi & she had to spell it out first me, since I couldn't see my computer in the sun. I think I annoyed her for asking for the spelling, that she forgot about my drink order. She went to the table next to me and asked for their drink orders and afterwards, I said, "I'm getting my rose, right?" She said yes. Then, she came out and gave the two women next to my table their drinks first, even though I put my order in before them. When my friend arrived, she took her order and when she brought it, she didn't tell the directions of what to do (you pour the sparkling wine into the Pornstar drink). We had to ask Sean, who worked her tables, while she was on her break. She didn't give off good vibes, but Sean definitely did! We ordered the green beans- a must! Sean suggested it over the Brussel Sprouts. They were delicious! Sean reminded my friend and I to eat them while they are hot! We also were very pleased with the Sesame chicken Caesar (the chicken was not on the happy hour menu) & the sticky chicken wings. The wings were my favorite! You've got to get them! Because Sean was so hospitable, they are a place we'd come back to!

As You Wish (chicken and ube sticky rice)

We were in town for a few nights and were looking for a good meal - something with a cool menu, different than what we could get at home. First born completely blew us away. If I'm near Los Gatos again, I will be sure to pop in. For drinks we had: a couch potato and one other drink. Both were AWESOME. Beautiful and delicious. For apps, we had sugar cane and green beans. Sugar cane- pork on sugar cane skewers- was unlike anything I've eaten before and it was so good. I'm salivating just thinking about it. And the green beans were perfectly seasoned and so well cooked. For dinner: Shake N Beef, and the As You Wish. My boyfriend loved the Shake N Beef (I can attest the sauce was really good) and I had the as you wish. The chicken was delicious (I do wish it were a bit larger) but the star of this was the ube sticky rice. OMG was it delicious. I've never had anything that tasted or looked like this rice before, and I will dream about it until I eat it again. The service- both our waiter and the bartender- were also lovely. Thank you for a great night!!!

This place is fire! My wife and I split the tuna rice cakes (which were one of the best things I've had in a while) and the chicken egg roles. Our drinks were also very good. Interior of the place looked fancy and inviting but the outdoor seating area is the way to go. A bit pricy but A+ for the creativity and flavors.

If you're hoping to sit inside, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. My friend and I both ordered the smash burger and I've got to say it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bread pudding. It was a 1000/10! Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and the texture was incredible. If you're on the fence about dessert, just order it, you won't regret it. The only minor downside was that the sodas were very flat and tasted a bit syrupy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the overall experience was excellent for such a cute spot in downtown Los Gatos. Will definitely be returning soon!

From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding! The hostess was helpful and welcoming who promptly brought us to our table and recommended some of her favorites. Our server was Therese who took excellent care of us. She was welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Also, the manager came around to check up on us, to make sure we didn't have last calls right before the kitchen closed. That was considerate. We decided on ordering the... Grilled Pork Chop: bourbon marinated grilled peach compote, peach, red onion & tomato salad (4/5). The presentation was gorgeous. A Sous vide pork chop with grill marks cooked to a medium temperature. Savory and complemented with the tangy, spicy, and tart salad. A tad heavy handed on the salt for the sauce, otherwise, it was still delicious. Gnocchi Ragu: lamb bolognese, pecorino (4/5). The meat sauce was delicious. The gnocchi itself was sizeable and decent. Fries (4/5) - medium shoe string cut fries that were hot, crispy, and lightly seasoned. So fresh and right out of the deep fryer. Parkside Bread Pudding: vanilla gelato, pecan praline (4/5). This was delicious. Therese was told by the kitchen staff that they unfortunately ran out of the pecan praline when she brought it out. Though, it was still decadent and divine. Therese even brought us a complimentary beignets for a birthday celebration. We will be back! Over time, it also feels like the portions have gotten smaller while the prices continue to increase. If a mandatory 20% service charge is going to be added to the bill, I expect the level of service to reflect that charge. Very disappointed.

Every item I've tried has been delicious. The ingredients are always fresh, creative, and full of flavor. The cocktails are a huge plus (smooth, well-balanced, and a work of art!), the service is excellent, and the ambience is beautiful. Love the warm Middle Eastern vibe (makes me feel like I'm getting a glimpse of the culture). Definitely going back and want to try their brunch next! Pictures are some of the drinks and apps we had on my second visit.

Cool how it's located right next to Los Gatos Soda Works so we could just grab drinks next door after dinner. Design and ambiance was a nice blend of indoor and outdoor with plenty of seating. Lighting's immaculate outside with the soft natural sun coaxing around the redwood tree. Food's decent, not outstanding. Website says they're the same owners of Tamra, a restaurant that closed down a few years ago in Sunnyvale which we both coincidentally tried as well. The menu is actually pretty reminiscent of it. We ordered the pomegranate braised lamb shank, the confit duck pastilla, the date chermoula kufta, the Mediterranean trio, and a few cocktails. The unilateral thing that was missing from all dishes was spice. Maybe intentional, but the palate leaned into sweet and savory. The kufta was better than expected -- beefy, tender, flavorful, and great with the sweet & zesty sauces. The pastilla was the standout with fun flaky texture of the pastry and the nice warm shredded duck. The duck was seasoned well and was reminiscent of pork. The beet spread was fresh and light, the hummus was plain, the labneh was too loose imo - just tasted like Greek yogurt out of the container. Giving credit where it's due, the lamb shank was better than it was at Tamra. However, the flavors and textures all just kind of melded together so it lacked depth and interest. Had the familiarity of a basic beef stew. Onto service. Abysmal. It wasn't busy. Nobody there to greet at the door, wait staff just wandering aimlessly around, food's drop and go, took quite a while to get someone to take our order and receive our check. In a word, very transactional. If this was a pho restaurant or dim sum place, I'd be more lax about it but the service sure doesn't fit the market positioning of where this restaurant wants to be in. 3.5 overall for food. It's safe, uninspired, but very much decent. Gotta round down for the service.

All the drinks pair well with the wide range of food options on their extensive menu. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside, plus several TVs throughout for watching sports. I ordered the Hop Holistics, a fresh, fruity Hazy IPA with a low 5.6% ABV, making it easy to enjoy more than one. I also tried the Alpha Dog West Coast IPA, which has a higher ABV and was another tasty choice, especially with my burger. I went with the smashburger and fries, and it was fantastic. Packed with flavor from the Memphis‑style BBQ sauce, avocado, and pickled red onions on a brioche bun. We were sharing it, and they even split it onto two plates for us -- a small touch we really appreciated. Only complaint was the bartender was NOT friendly at all. We felt like we were making him work. Definitely need to get someone that wants to work and not that guy! Despite this, we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and enjoy another brew.

We were driving to Santa Cruz on Memorial Day and it was such jam packed crazy peak traffic taking hours to move a mile, we decided to detour and take exit to Los Gatos. Now I've been to this cute rich neighbourhood city couple of times and enjoyed a lot. We parked at nearby garage. It was so damn now so loved the outdoor seating concept with play area for kids. My son loved running around here! Beer flight was decent, I didn't like any of the 4 beers given. We had pesto chicken sandwiche. It was not warm and tasted very normal Fried were cold and not seasoned well too. But it's great for outdoor seating and chilling with friends and family Self service , but good and drinks were super quick to arrive.

The music was really loud and I couldn't hear the conversation of the person with me so the Asian bartender helped us turn down the music a little. It wasn't until mid evening that I realized there was another bar in the back. The bartender told us the cocktails at Alter Ego were more fancy. Definitely instagramworthy! Tried two of the cocktails at Alter Ego. Overall, both have different vibes. Alter Ego is good for a more intimate dark setting date vibe. Service was pretty good at Still OG! The Asian bartender checked in several times and was really nice as well as provided some recommendations on which happy hour specials were most popular which helps since I'm indecisive. The back does seem like a more classy environment and I'd choose this setting over a dive bar any day. The music at still OG that they were playing at the time wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm sure they mix it up from time to time. I would love to hear some oldies!

The front was pretty full so we checked out Alter Ego first, but they were also full with nothing available until 11pm, so Still OG it was. You grab a spot yourself and then order at the bar. All cocktails are on tap, which actually ended up being great because I was between a few of them and the bartender was able to give me samples of them. We also ended up getting an order of the Chicken skewers, which were super tender and juicy. We were too late on our visit, but they do have a daily happy hour that includes some of the skewers and fries, as well as some drinks and shots. Service was super friendly and vibes and music were great! Cocktails, weren't the best since they were on tap, but still good enough! I would absolutely come back here for a drink and snack though!
