We have been in a few times, never disappointed. We've tired the Bleu, bacon, balsamic burger. Crab cake sandwich. Rockfish. Shrimp tacos. Portobello burger. All very good. And you can't beat the view outside while eating dinner. I had family in town and we went there twice in 3 days. We love to come to The Lighthouse whenever we are in Solomons. First of all, our server - Stormy - was incredible. She was attentive without hovering and even helped us when we spilled some honey (nasty mess). She seemed to honestly want to make our experience there wonderful. If you never went to the original Lighthouse you would think this place is great. However, if you did it just doesn't hold up to any comparison. I assume the new owners wanted a more casual environment, and wanted to correct some of the lay-out deficits of the previous building. The old bar was made from a reclaimed boat, the entrance is now on the face of the building rather than the back and the second floor dining room is gone. The result is a loss of class and character that made the original so special to so many. I find the new dining room is kind of gloomy and uninviting. The outside deck is really nice - as long as you don't get a table in full sun. (which we did the last two times). The food, drinks and service have all good. I could nit-pick a few complaints, but nothing that would not result in us not returning. I suppose we just miss the charm, elegance and drama of the former place, but times move on and things change. read more

Drove all the way from silver spring Maryland today 4/14/18 because the weather was awesome and a hot 80 degrees to find out that the outdoor eating area was closed. We sat next to the bar by the bathroom which had a lot of traffic and ordered the rockfish blacken for $26 each. It was a big disappointment. It had no flavor or taste. The fish was not cooked properly and it had way too much old bay seasoning on top. read more

Fish and chips were among the worst I've ever had. Instead of a delightfully crispy fry these were soggy. I upgraded from fries to onion rings as my side, which you pay extra for. It came with only 5 medium sized onion rings. The fries/onion rings are such an odd thing to skimp on, because they can make the plate look full and they're so cheap to serve up. If the food was good, I'd say the $17 price tag is steep but fine. Given the quality, it was super overpriced for what you get. The view was great. Server was friendly. read more

I recently went to this this amazing restaurant. No reservations needed. Our seats were outside, and right on the water with an amazing view. Our waitress Emma did an outstanding job. Even though she had other table to take care off she made us feel like she was our own personal waitress. The food was deliciously prepared, and seasoned perfectly. I have heard of Solomon's Island but never been. Not knowing it was only a 45 min drive for us. I will definitely be back as a regular patron. Can't wait to try other dishes on there menu. Overpriced, doesn't have the same environment as it did before it burnt down (year's ago) and was rebuilt. The service wasn't the best, had to wait multiple times for our waitress to visit our table. I ordered a house salad with blackened chicken and a side of fries. The fries were the best part of my meal. The chicken was tough and rubbery, so I sent it back. My husband ordered a $40 seafood platter that wasn't worth the expense. Our meal was over $80 for those two meals plus a few drinks. read more

Stopped in for happy hour. They have 1/2 priced appetizers and good beer specials. We tried the bourbon bacon wrapped scallops. You get 8 scallops for $7 during happy hour. They were delicious. Great view from the deck of the marina, friendly staff and great food...who could ask for more? Don't bother trying to park in their very limited parking lot...there is lots of street parking. If it's busy you may want to consider sitting at the outside bar if the weather is nice, instead of waiting for a table. Hubby had the fried crabcake sandwich lots of lump crab and very little filler just the way it should be. He also had a side of hushpuppies and I must admit, they taste good even as a cold left over. The crab dip was delicious, the cream of crab soup was good, then there was the main course...I ordered a filet & crab cake with baked potato & my love ordered the seafood platter. Both of our food came out barely warm, I sent mine back to get corrected and when it came back my crab cake was ice cold on the inside and the rest was warm to hot. I ended up sending it back to have it taken off the bill (she took hers home as leftovers). My biggest issue is nobody apologized and the manager/owner NEVER came out to say a word to us about the meal that would've have been close to $200 & still ended up being over $100. I have to say this was not a good experience and I left dissatisfied and disappointed. Thank you for listening to my rant. read more

Yeah the food here was good, nothing special besides that half and half crab soup. You must get that not to be missed. My issue was with seating and service. We sat in the bar area where it was significantly warmer than indoors. The wait staff was terrible. We had to get up three times from the table and physically go get the condiment that we needed. Our waitress never came by to check on us. A member of our party got up and went and stood by the kitchen to get additional cocktail sauce and ketchup for our table. We were having fries and shrimp, seems like that would be common sense to have readily available. We had to ask another staff member twice for drink refills and extra plates for sharing Food. We found when we asked other wait staff for assistance they were very pleasant but didn't help us and get or meet our needs. We had to flag down our waitress just to get drinks refills read more

This is a beautifully appointed family-owned business well worth a long drive. The happy hour has a terrific price on scallops. The broiled angry crab cake is awesomely tasty, and a heart-healthy choice. The ahi tuna appetizer was a culinary masterpiece of crispy wonton, silky tuna wedges, sweet mango, seaweed salad and spicy mayo drizzle. Really nice restaurant. We always eat here and bring the family here when visiting. It has a nice big inside area and a nice wrap around bar that is located outside/indoors with high tables. They can close down the wall windows when it is cold outside. It also has two levels of outside seating area with umbrellas for shade. The outside is the best for a nice cool breeze on the hot days, and you can enjoy the view of the water and the boats. You can also see the water view from inside the restaurant if you are close to the window, and from the bar area. They only take reservations for a party of 6 or more. They make the best crushes in the area! The food is always amazing and the portions are huge. They did just change up the menu, and I think the prices may have gone up a bit and they did get rid of the battered mushrooms. At lunch for 3 of us, ordering each a main meal, two apps, 3 non-alcoholic drinks it was $85 (including tip). You can also dock at the restaurant which is nice. The parking is not good at all. The parking lot is super small and they only have 1 handicap spot, which you won't even notice if you don't know where it is, b/c it is kinda tucked back farther than the other parking spots. You have to pull all the way into the parking lot driving towards the building and to the left of the restaurant (if you're looking at the restaurant) is where it is. Where the employees stand/sit and smoke. So if you pull up when they are on break or other patrons need to smoke, you will have to get out of your car (or in your car) with a bunch of people smoking right next to it. The parking lot is always full. You can park along the street. If it is a busy time of year or something is going on in the area, you will have to park down by the boardwalk area and walk. The only real complaint is....They make the waitresses wear extremely short shorts. The shorts are way to short and not appropriate. read more

Had a great dinner here on Saturday. We were slow to get waited on but once the waitress came she was great. I had a lemon drop martini and hubs had a rye &ginger. Both drinks great and reasonable. Appetizer of rockfish bites. Outstanding! Salads nice size and loved the mango vinaigrette dressing. For dinner I had the fried shrimp with baked potato. My hubs had the special salmon with general tso's sauce. It was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our waitress. We look forward to eating here again soon. read more

The wait time was minimal for a Sunday evening and the food was exceptionally good and reasonably priced. But we had an incident with our waiter. He accidentally spilled an entire soda on our 8 year old grandson. He was slow in getting towels to dry him off and never offered to comp his meal. Our party of 7 did not expect to have our entire meal comped, but he could have offered at a minimum to not charge for our grandsons. He did bring a tee shirt (from the restaurant gift store) for him to put on because he was cold. But only after we asked if they had any for sale. We weren't charged for the tee shirt. At the end of the meal, our waiter gave us the wrong check AND credit card from a different table. He corrected the error and I did receive "my" card back along with the correct ticket. What started out to be a wonderful family evening out, was quickly dampened by these turn of events. read more

I asked about the other rectangle tables and the hostess actually said "you can either sit here or leave and come back later and take your chances." That was approximately 5:30p. By 7pm we still had not gotten our food we ordered 45 minutes earlier. And one of our guests had to return their meal due to it being cold! The crab dip burger and the crab chips were phenomenal! The food came out realtively quickly, so that was nice. It's located right on the water and there is outdoor seating, so you can enjoy the island view if you so choice. There is also a bar outside and a dock so people can sail right up to the restaraunt.
