    Halibut appetizer
    Alison B.

Totally fabulous dining experience. We went for a team lunch and did their fixed menu. Every single item was AMAZING. The halibut appetizer was flaky and beautiful. The mango curry was one of the best curries I've ever tasted in my life. Each dish was beautifully presented and carefully prepared to deliver each flavor perfectly. The staff was so accommodating and their attention to detail for our gluten free diner was impeccable.

I am absolutely appalled by our experience at this so‑called world‑class Michelin‑starred Northern Indian restaurant in London. We clearly notified the staff in advance that my sister has serious allergies to both mango and pineapple and reiterated this when ordering dessert to take away. We were explicitly reassured--more than once--that neither of the two desserts contained mango or pineapple. When my sister returned to the hotel and began eating the first dessert, she immediately recognized the taste and texture of pineapple and began having an allergic reaction. We called the restaurant right away and were told, "Oh no, there is no pineapple in it." Only after insisting and explaining that she was actively reacting did they "check with the chef" and admit that yes, there was pineapple in that dessert, but claimed there was no pineapple in the second one. Trusting that assurance, she tried the second dessert as well--only to find pineapple in that one too, triggering another reaction. Thankfully, she had the correct medication with her and was able to manage the reaction before it escalated into a full medical emergency. The thought of what could have happened if she hadn't had her medication on hand is terrifying. What makes this even worse is that when we called back to inform them of what had happened, they were dismissive and defensive. They essentially implied that we were lying about the second dessert containing pineapple, despite the fact that we have photos and the very clear evidence of an allergic reaction. There was no genuine apology, no sense of urgency, and no serious acknowledgment of the gravity of serving allergens after being explicitly warned. For a restaurant that prides itself on being the only Michelin‑starred Northern Indian restaurant in the world, this level of negligence around food allergies is unacceptable and dangerous. If my sister's reaction had been even more severe, they could kiss that precious Michelin star goodbye. At this level, basic allergy safety is non‑negotiable. If you or anyone in your party has food allergies, I would strongly advise you to think twice before dining here. At a minimum, they must learn to take allergy information seriously, communicate honestly with guests, and verify ingredients before making promises that can literally put someone's life at risk. This all happened with the "manager" or so he claimed when I asked to speak with the manager.

I wanted Indian cuisine and my 79 year old mother had never had Indian food, ever! We absolutely loved everything we had. I'm afraid Quilon has set the bar very high for her next Indian food. Haha. Amazing service, amazing food, great location and atmosphere. Everything we ate was simply incredible. I especially loved the Fisherman's Catch starter and the Chi Tea. The Chicken Pepper Masala, Lemon Rice, and paratha were so very good. If I didn't live in the USA I'd come here often. If in London, eat here! It's absolutely worth it.

Wow!!!! Quilon is a different take on Indian food than I've ever had before. I came here by myself on a recent trip to London! The food and service were extraordinary. I was able to make a reservation the same day and was seated immediately. I couldn't decide on what to get, so I ordered a seafood tasting and was assured it wouldn't be too much for just one person, as they would be just bite sized. We'll there wasn't a thing I didn't like. Everything I tasted was unique and delicious. My only complaint is that the tasting menu didn't help my decide what to get for future visits.

This is a very fancy restaurant located in the Taj near Buckingham Palace. It serves coastal Indian food but has vegetarian options. The presentation was amazing and the taste was decent - not as mind blowing as other Taj restaurants. The food is on the pricier side. I could easily get a table for dinner on a weekday. The portion sizes are smaller than what I expected - even when I toned down my expectation beforehand.

This place was recommended by the hotel staff and there's not really any dress code. Very easy to get a table on a Saturday night.

Mini Pappadum with assorted chutneys (all spicy) on right and milder sauces (coconut, tomato) on right.

I gave them a 3 stars review only because the service was exemplary... the food on the other hand was mediocre and overly priced.

We checked in on the lady with the tablet on the right side of the entrance. The left side is for walk ins. Super long line even at 5pm. But they were handing out small glasses of chai and something else. Anyway, the reservation line is short and they sat us right away. We wished we could have sat at the patio - it's covered. We didn't see that until we were already drinking. Well, next time! The ambiance - beautiful spot with lots and lots of tables. Every single one of them was taken. Tons of staff! They take good care of you here. Patrons vary, from dates to family dinners - the whole gamet! Come one, come all! The drinks came out right away. Dishoom IPA and chai. Beer came with a frosted glass. The chai was delicious! The food was amazing! Goan monkfish curry Ruby chicken Saffron cauliflower Garlic naan Basmati rice Everything was superb! We started with the okra fries, which were decent but nothing special. The garlic naan was surprisingly plain and lacked the strong garlic flavor I was expecting. The grilled masala prawns were quite small and tasted just okay. I also ordered the Chicken Ruby, but it reminded me of a basic butter chicken recipe that I've made at home. The biggest disappointment was the famous Black Daal. Since it's one of Dishoom's signature dishes, I expected something exceptional, but I found it overrated and not particularly memorable. The highlight of the meal was the roti wrap, which I did enjoy. I appreciated that the chai comes with free refills, which was a nice touch. Overall, I think Dishoom is overrated. Maybe it's because I prefer bolder, spicier flavors, but the food felt quite mild and didn't justify all the praise I'd heard. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't see myself returning.

A friend of the chef organized this dinner for us, and like many other fancy Indian restaurants, they do have a rather silly children policy, but thanks to our host, an exception was made for us. Kutir's experience begins with it's thoughtful setup. You are indeed welcomed in a home with pretty compact seating. Their rooftop seating is really inviting, but we could not seat there because the restaurant wasn't as busy on a Sunday evening. Aarav, our server made food recommendations which included a brilliantly tasty serving of Crab ~ Pepper Fry (£14), Lamb ~ Black Cumin (£24), Jheenga ~ Moilee (£26), and a Bread ~ Basket (£12). Our little one enjoyed the Double Tadka ~ Dal (£8) with some Steamed ~ Rice (£5). The Crab and Jheenga were absolutely spectacular. Desserts were on the okay-ish end and included Chocolate ~ Peanut (£10), and Cassata ~ Rose (£9) which had a very grainy texture. Aarav was very attentive, and friendly towards our little one. Very very good service. Noise levels were on the lower end, and it was easy to have a quiet conversation when we weren't eating all the delicious food!
