That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. They made me feel welcome, respected, and cared for. That's the kind of hospitality that earns five stars from me.

Set in a charming two story…read morehistoric house we entered from the back where an outdoor deck with seating was present and walked into an inviting dining room that had about 8+ tables - the atmosphere peaceful, intimate, warm, and inviting. Tatiana herself greeted us and sat us at a perfect table in the corner where we could look out at the restaurant. The food matched the first impression - presentation was superb! We started with the appetizer of chicken meatballs - 6 delicious bites to share. Flavor was on spot and the white sauce sweet yet savory. Next cam our dinners. Each served with soup (Ukranian borscht), lovely mixed salad, and homemade dinner rolls - to die for! We started with the Ukranian Ice Tea - and first for me. And now a staple! It had a hint of fruit tones, not too sweet, very cold, and refreshing! I had 2 glasses. We ordered the Ukranian Stew which comes with Ukrainian rice (another fabulous staple - I will add this as an additional side dish to any ongoing visits we make, it's that good). The sauce on the stew was perfectly seasoned as well - with a hint of cardamom and perhaps cinnamon? It was a perfect blend of savory with hint of sweetness to compliment the chicken, chicken sausage, beef tips, vegetables, and more that made up the stew. The sauce was worthy of a spoon to ensure every morsel was consumed - with bread to wipe the bowl clean! The portion sizes are generous as well. The second entre was the Colosseum Tortellini Combo with chicken, chicken sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese tortellini all tossed in a Asiago Alfredo Marinera sauce. A other enjoyable dish. While we did not have dessert, the selections looked equally scrumptious! We will try the pumpkin cheesecake when we return. This is a family run business. Ash is the Chef, Tatiana runs the front if the house. They have a second floor dinkng space that can seat up to 50! Great spot for special event or party. Even Tatiana's mother participates with her dessert baking. Both Ash & Tatian were delightful. It was like being invited to a friend's home for a feast! Highly recommend trying. I know we will return to try numerous other items on the menu.

At the time their concept was one that offered entrees from different European countries. My friend, who is a vegetarian, was pleased to find an entree that she could eat. Over the years, we never did return there for our lunch meet ups. Nor did my husband and I get there. You know...so many restaurants, so little time. We recently gave thought to the idea of having dinner there. What prompted us was due to picking up a pizza at Marcos, which is next door. We looked up their current menu while we waited for our pizza and liked what we saw. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. Business was slow then but steadily picked up. We were seated and greeted. A server came around to bring water as we looked over the menu. When we were ready to give our order, an older woman, whom we think is the manager came to take it. She was very friendly, polite and efficient. We noticed that she regularly checked on all the diners. The menu is mostly German food with some elements from other cuisines. For example, you can get a Thai iced tea to go with your meal. We started out with an appetizer and chose Caprese salad. This was a simple one with 4 slices of mozzarella, 4 ripe tomato slices and a drizzle of balsamic. We both thought it was well prepared and the portion size was just right for two. Also, a small portion of bread and butter is brought to the table. For my main course, I chose Weinerschnitzel made with white meat chicken. It was accompanied with a small cup of gravy, which was meat based. Also, entrees come with a side of one's choice. I chose German potato salad. My husband got the Sausage Platter which has 3 different sausages---bratwurst, knackwurst, and baurenwurst plus some sauerkraut. He, too, chose German potato salad as his size. Also, a small cup of mustard comes with this dish. As for the food---I thought my Weinerschnitzel was well prepared and arrived while it was hot. This dish comes with 3 thin cutlets. I used the gravy which amped up the flavor. My husband really liked his sausage dish. He enjoyed each sausage and thought the mustard worked well with them. Neither of us cared for the German potato salad. While we appreciate that it is house made, we didn't like how one forkful would taste sweet while the next forkful was sour. Perhaps the dressing hadn't been mixed well. We decided to share a dessert and chose the apple strudel. This was quite tasty. It was tender and easy to cut with a fork and nicely flavored. A small cup of vanilla ice cream comes with it plus a side of whipped cream and the plate was garnished with strawberry syrup. The decor was nice with lots of artwork, including a Van Gogh poster. We enjoyed looking at the art. We both agree that we would return again. If you go, take note as the evening progresses, parking gets tight in the small lot. Just backing out of our spot was stressful. Next time, we would park further away in the same lot in a section that doesn't get crowded.

The rice was severely undercooked, and although the menu advertised tiger shrimp, the shrimp served were much smaller than the tiger shrimp I've had at other restaurants. The portion and quality simply didn't justify the price. The service was even more disappointing. We were a party of 17, and it felt like our table was an inconvenience. I personally asked for water three separate times and still never received it. No one at the table had their glasses refilled. There was little to no initiative to check on our table, refill drinks, or make sure we had what we needed. Instead, it felt like our server was rushing us through the meal. I understand that serving a large party can be challenging, but if one server wasn't comfortable handling a group of this size, they should have asked for assistance from other staff. Large parties deserve attentive service just like any other table. Overall, the combination of overpriced, underwhelming food and poor service made for a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return or recommend this restaurant based on this visit.

Service was pretty fast, though we did come in on a weekday during lunch hours. It wasn't super packed which made it a relaxed vibe. The appetizers and the main meals were outstanding. Every time we go to Ambar, the Balkan Salad, the beet tzatziki, and the veal soup are our non-negotiable starters. The bread basket that comes with the spreads is always warm as if it came out of the oven which is a nice touch. This time around we got to try kajmak- tasted like fresh butter from a farm. The orders we kept coming back to in particular were the grilled shrimp, the sesame crusted salmon, and the beef goulash. It's easy to get full quickly, but if you're eyeing on dessert, pace yourself! Unless you love decadent cakes, I would pass if dessert is an extra cost. The dessert menu was quite underwhelming to me and, besides the baklava, doesn't give traditional Balkan dessert vibes. If I were to recommend going to Ambar, definitely head in during restaurant week! And if paying full cost, I would say brunch has a nicer sweets selection over the dessert menu offered during lunch and dinner.
