    Beer flight
    Vy T.

Happened to be in the neighborhood midday and stopped in for a quick drink with some family. Tried some beers they had on tap which were excellent quality while sitting at a high top table near the well lit windows. Friendly customer service and available restroom as well.

There are so many great things going on here, starting with the beer and besides one hiccup, all the beers were phenomenal. Mars was my beertender and if you are lucky, he can help you find some great beer. I sat at the bar and ordered a flight, but on Sunday all their $8 beers are only $5 and this place will break any chance you have of working Monday. The BEER: Resurrection Abbey-style brown ale 7% ABV... Oh wow, such a great flavor and mouth feel. Wonderful!!! Beazly golden ale 7 5% ABV... Hella great. So smooth and clove forward. I could drink this all day, but would definitely need someone else driving. Slight fruity and totally crushable if you are not driving and don't want to work the next day. So deceptively smooth. Birdhouse pale ale 5% ABV... I didn't like this at all, whatever it was, yuck!!! For me it tasted like fermented throw up. This is absolutely awful. Sunny Side of the Street sour ale 3.9% ABV... ... easy drinking, a little acidic, but it was good. Imagine a Miller or Bud with Belgian banana clove flavor. It was quite crushable. Standing in the Shadows Russian Imperial Ale 8.8% ABV... so very good, tasted like a great imperial Stout, but I do understand styles make beers and it says this is an ale. A great beer none the less. St. Festus winter warmer 8% ABV... this is a perfectly brown Belgian ale. I am not familiar with winter warmers, but from the few I have had, this is my favorite. I also had a Piggy Back whiskey 6 year aged. Not sure what I was going for, but just let me know there is something for everyone here. They have mixed drinks and a heavy hand. So for food I ordered the Chicken Jagerschnitzel. The spatzle noodles were over cooked, the Schnitzel was nuked, but it was still all right. The Schnitzel lacked flavor and could have used a lot more mushroom sauce. It was edible and after a day of drinking, just right. Decent. I will be rating the beer and ambiance more than the food. This was a great experience. Can't wait to return. If you like Belgians and you are in Baltimore, this is the Brewers Art is the first, last and only stop. Highly recommend Brewers Art.

Had to treat my goddaughter to dinner and we settled on the Brewers Art. Since it was close by and had delicious food. It had been a minute since I have been here. They have a small lot close by and you can find on street parking. Parking is not enforced on Sunday evening. Came with my goddaughter for dinner on a Sunday. I made reservations but it wasn't very crowded so we probably could have walked in and gotten a table. We got there before the sunny fares opened at 5 pm so we went to a bar for a pregame drink. I have the winter festivus on draft and she had a sangria. For my meal I decided on the chicken schnitzel sandwich that came rosemary garlic fries and aioli sauce. The food came out pretty quickly. The sandwich was delicious. The chicken was nice and crispy on the exterior with a moist juicy interior. It was topped with pickles, lettuce, and a creamy sauce. The fries were crispy and well seasoned too. I had a a sweet tooth after dinner and actually decided to get some dessert. Unfortunately they were out of the crème brûlée. I ended up settling for the apple pie skillet that came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was a prefect end to a delicious meal. I was a little shocked that theorem was no crust to rhetorical apple pie. It was just the filling with a scoop of ice cream. I wound probably it get it again Other than dessert the evening was perfect on this trip. The service was great. The waiter who appeared to also be the host seating everyone was still friendly and attentive. Never had to look for him to ask for anything.

We were in the area on vacation and always like to hit up some local breweries on our travels. This was on our list of maybes but a local said we should definitely check it out. I also appreciated the later hours as it gave us a place to grab a drink when a lot of other breweries were closed. We got there just about when they were shutting the upstairs for the night but at least we got to look at it. The upstairs is beautiful and bright. It's more of a restaurant feel with some bar seating. Then you head downstairs and it's dark and moody. Chairs and couches tucked into corners. A small bar with just a few seats. A short taplist but with some interesting options and usually some Belgians on draft. I tried a new to me style that sounded good and it was an easy drinker but absolutely delicious. A beer I could have sat and drank all day (if it wasn't past my bedtime). Prices were reasonable. Fun environment. If we are back in the area I may return to try some food and enjoy the upstairs. I definitely recommend checking this place out whether from the area of just visiting.

Delicious and different! Enjoyed a Christmas week dinner and ended up with left overs thanks to generous portions. Burger reminded me of quick pickles and was not too filling, served with a pile of delicious rosemary fries just to make sure you don't leave hungry. I opted for a side of nacho cheese and highly suggest the combination. Chicken Jaeger Schnitzel was massive and the mushroom sauce balanced and enhanced the schnitzel and brussel sprouts very well. Creme brulee featured a particularly thick sugar shell and was a good size to split, we tried the Sweet Potato Crostata after seeing there were no pictures on Yelp and while I would have loved a side of the caramel sauce it was a delicious pastry. Great beer and delicious food with two bars makes this a great stop before a night out in Baltimore.

Just an update to say we do come here regularly since we moved to the area. We love the upstairs and basement bar and the staff here are wonderful. Chef, Mars, Kade, Adam, Faren, Aubree, and Ale are wonderful and always make it a great experience. The food here is awesome (try pierogi night when it comes up!) and the beers are great. Definitely happy we found this spot and live close!

Beautiful back bar of Brewer's Art with their excellent whiskey selection!

What an incredible spot on so many levels. My friend brought me here to enjoy their varied whiskey selection, craft beers on tap, and cozy architecture. We split a flatbread which was on happy hour special. The dough was perfectly worked, cheese was flavorful, as were the mushrooms on top. The sauce was a bit too sweet, but it didn't interfere with the overall taste of the flatbread which was a win. My Abbey Ale was cold, effervescent, and had a toasted biscuit finish - delicious! The dining room is beautifully appointed, intelligently lit, and the menu has varied options. I'd definitely come back for a full meal. The staff was engaging and friendly, the music was jazzy-hipster in an ambient way, and the downstairs "speakeasy" looks like the place I want to be on a Friday night with some friends. Check this place out, you'll be glad you did.

Fun spot in Baltimore near the Lyric! We went to see a comedian at the Lyric and wanted a spot afterwards for late night drinks. This bar is about a 10 minute walk from the Lyric. They have a bar upstairs and a bar downstairs so there was plenty of space.

I went to the downstairs bar, and ate and drank at the bar. Service was good. It wasn't super crowded at first but built up over time. The downstairs area isn't fancy, but it's comfortable. The beer was all excellent - I tried and enjoyed three kinds over about two hours, reacquainting myself with Resurrection, which I haven't had in years. All three were very distinct and each was excellent. I ordered the Steak Frites, which was pricey at $40 but very well cooked medium rare. The fries were merely decent, but it came with a nice, fresh salad (seemed like mixed greens with arugula) and a large helping of butter with herbs mixed in. I'm grading on the beer, in particular. Value? I guess I'd say worth it, but the beers were $8 apiece. Definitely better on tap than if one were to purchase a pack of Resurrection at a liquor store. Solid markup for the steak, and I saw that burgers were $20. I guess in the future I'll come more for the drinks than the food (which was good but I'm not sure about the premium), but I'll be back for sure.

This has got to be the most beautiful restaurant I've visited in Baltimore. Old world charm in a historic building - you're essentially dining in a fancy, very well restored/maintained mansion. Be sure to look up at the ceilings as you walk into each new room!! We ordered a few things across the table, including the cheeseburger, steak frites, and the chicken jeagerschnitzel. Whatever you do, make sure the dish you order comes with their signature rosemary fries: they are PHENOMENAL. HOLY COW. Of our dishes, the fries (lol) were the winners and the jeagerschnitzel was my lease favorite (overall bland). Then there were the desserts: we ordered a few ice creams and brown butter cookies. HOLY COW: THOSE BROWN BUTTER COOKIES! I desperately hope they're on the menu the next time we visit, because I've been dreaming about them ever since. It's like a deconstructed chocolate chip cookie, all the goodness of the cookie sans the chocolate, then the whole thing is dipped in a light fudgey chocolate on its side. Loved them. Service wasn't bad!

I have been wanting to try this place for years and was glad to see I could make a reservation here with my wife after the Ravens game against the Seahawks. It is conveniently located along both bus and light rail lines so it made it convenient as we head up towards Penn Station after the game. It is in an older building which gives it an old world feel , so unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. There is ample seating in different areas and few made reservations in the dining room in back but there were Ravens fans near the bar in front. Our server was great and quick and we tried a flight of all the beers which we enjoyed but the particular highlight was the food. We ate the seasonal specialities which were the Butternut Squash Soup, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and the Sweet Potato Cookies which we all loved. We hope to come back another time maybe with family or friends .

Late night Caesar with grilled chicken
    Steve R.

All I wanted was a late night bite before meeting up with friends at a bar later. I didn't realize that the downtown Charles Street and R House (Remington) eateries were closed or closing by 9 p.m. on a Sunday night. I stopped by at the upper bar of The Brewer's Art on the off chance--and was rewarded with an open kitchen and helpful bar tenders, despite an empty bar (however, the basement bar was busy with people). I enjoyed the Caesar with grilled chicken and even had enough left to take home for later. Note: You order at the main upstairs bar but will get table service that includes the lounge area nearby; farther back is an ample dinning room where the menu is the same but with a prix fixe menu and ongoing specials. Whether you want to toss back drinks at an upper or grotto bar or choose from a variety of fine dinner fare--or a late night munch and drink--The Brewer's Art is a great Baltimore hangout to feel like you're a part of the city vibe!

This place keeps the Belgian brews stocked across the spectrum. From fruity Lambics to Tripels (my personal fave) and Quadrupels, pales to darks. There's a lot to explore here. The food is pretty good too. The frites (fries) are excellent and pair well with the beer. They are thick without veering into steak fry territory, nicely crunchy, and packed with a pleasing amount of salt (and I believe a hint of vinegar). The waffles are also a standout, typically topped with light and airy cream. The merguez lamb sausage is also hearty and delicious. I wish the building itself was larger. There's only a few tables, meaning you may be in for a wait if you go during the colder months. And I recently had the chocolate mousse and didn't care for it. It was much more akin to pudding, and there wasn't a deep enough chocolate flavor to contrast with the whipped cream. There's no better place I've found in Occoquan to eat, drink, and be merry. I highly recommend you stop here when you visit.

And then it is pulling teeth to actually place an order. However, they will pester the sh*t out of you to pay your bill and leave when they are busy.. don't know why I keep going back there

The beer selection is well curated and served appropriately cold. We went for Easter brunch. The fresh fruit cover waffles were served with maple syrup and were delicious. The Green Eggs and bacon were a nice change of pace. We did have a small issue with the bill, but they took care of the problem quickly. Belga is a lively place.

These are only served at brunch. Check times first if you want waffles is what I'm saying. When I look at photos of this restaurant it must have undergone a redesign. I'm impressed with the photos of the outdoor decks and greenhouse. They look charming and cozy. The inside of Belga is completely modern and simple with a massive, gorgeous, antique round wall pendant upon entering. I think this exquisite piece of architecture has been there for at least 17 years judging by one Yelp photo. There is really not much else on their walls except for a gigantic high-gloss photo of an adorable baby pig's nose. The gorgeous miniature brass LED light in the foyer area adds much charm. The Belga Cafe beer and wine lists were impressive and exhaustive. The table of contents for their beer and wine list is 37 pages! Under beers, here are the categories: 1.) Gluten-free and Non-alcoholic 2.) Pilsners, white and golden ales 3.) Red & Brown Ales, Saison 4.) Exceptional Triples & Quadruples, Abbey 5.) Belgian Trappist 6.) Americans, Belgian Ale 7.) The Lambic Family, the Big Bottles. Humbling, as I have much to learn about beer. The Straffe Hendrick Tripel - "deep malt character, rum and pears" - was glorious. It was everything a beer should be and enough for me to order it as a second beer. Strong and malty. Blanche de Belga is my absolute favorite. It's a white beer with aromas of citrus fruit and notes of orange and lime. It's light and how I love a beer. This was my first choice. There was a rich, syrupy peach mel - Pêche Mel - beer I also enjoyed. I do not know if this peach mel was from Brasserie Dubuisson Frères sprl, Bush or Scaldis. The mussels were artfully presented - with gorgeous greens and onions - but the broth was maybe 1/4 or so of the portion. The mussels were delicious, though most fell out of the top layer. The selection of mayonnaise and butters served with our mussels was impressive. The French baguette - dusted with something that looked like green matcha powder - came with a basil butter. We actually couldn't taste the bacon notes, and he said it was bacon, but we enjoyed the basil. The baguette also came with seaweed butter. It was a surprising pairing with mussels, though interesting. I liked the complexity of the flavors in the seaweed butter, ultimately. The burger was monumental in height. We ordered it medium well but the meat had little moisture even for a well-cooked burger. In fact, it tasted sturdy and I was quickly thirsty after one bite. This $25 burger left me with more of a question than satisfaction. The service - however - was extraordinary! It was the best I've had in a very long time. The new manager is 5-stars by every definition. He delivered over and above what we asked for. He knew what he was doing. He surprised and delighted us with his gracious service. He made our experience memorable and I would go back for that level of service, the abundant selection of beer and to try the waffles at brunch!
