    Hot lobster roll
    Patrick D.

We decided to try The Lobster Pot while visiting Provincetown because of its long standing reputation and history as one of the town's most well known restaurants. We were excited to finally experience it for ourselves, but unfortunately our lunch did not live up to the hype. The highlight of our visit was definitely the seating. We were placed in the back outside with a beautiful harbor view, a cool breeze, and plenty of shade, which made for a really nice atmosphere. To start, we ordered the buffalo wings, calamari, and clam chowder. My son was disappointed with the wings, saying they were heavily breaded and lacked flavor. The calamari was a bit soggy, which was disappointing. I had the clam chowder, which had been highly recommended, but I found it very bland and lacking depth of flavor. The clams were also a little chewy and tough. For entrees, my daughter had the hot lobster roll, which was the standout of the meal. It was packed with lobster meat and easily an 8 out of 10. I ordered the seafood primavera with lobster. The flavor was good, but the vegetables were undercooked, with the carrots especially being very tough and almost raw. My son ordered the swordfish and found it very dry and disappointing. My husband had the seafood bouillabaisse and thought it was delicious, although he tends to enjoy just about everything. One thing all of our kids agreed on was that the pumpkin bread and rolls served at the table were excellent. The service was off too. The waiter disappeared leaving us with empty glasses of water and dirty plates on our table. Overall, while the location and atmosphere were great, the food was inconsistent and did not match the reputation or price point. Unfortunately, it is not a place we would return to.

Wow, still the best place to eat in Provincetown. My review from 8 years ago is still valid. We have visited The Lobster Pot every summer since and love coming here. Great menu with lots of choices, good adult beverages, nice views, and a welcoming and warm vibe by the staff. We tend to stick to the basics as I had clam chowder and a lobster salad roll, while my husband had whole belly clams. Yum! Thank you Piotr for his attentive service. We also enjoyed hearing other servers and their friendly engagement with customers. The Lobster Pot is a classic and you must go.

At first glance you might think The Lobster Pot is a tourist trap due to its location. It's anything but. It's an institution. And, yes. They make incredible lobster, but they make a whole lot more than that. This is an old school restaurant that runs like a well oiled machine. It will invoke nostalgia for you without feeling old and stuffy. There's a beautiful view of the harbor through the wall to wall windows around the dining room, and a small outdoor dining deck as well. The service is incredibly friendly from everyone and they absolutely hustle. I had the best lobster of my life here this year. It was a beautiful hard shell lobster absolutely stuffed with meat. Flambeed and roasted with a brandy butter sauce. It came out piping hot coated in that delicious sauce. It was to die for. My husband had the Cajun bouillabaisse which was loaded with perfectly cooked fish and shellfish all in a rich, spicy broth. You would think the orzo it was served with might be an afterthought, but it was divine and buttery, mixed with some lentils and grains. What an astounding meal! We'll be back next year of course!

My review is going to be the outlier but that is what I hope my experience was for everyone else. My Wife and I were excited to eat here. We always look at reviews and photos on Yelp and plan a lot of our vacations around food. The steak, environment, scenery and drinks at this place had us excited to eat here. It is the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant on vacation. Strictly due to the food, I don't recall any aspects of the service being poor. The chowder was very average and not something you would expect from a place in Cape Cod. The lobster on the lobster roll seemed fresh however, nothing else about the roll was better than average or special. The potato salad served with the roll was very bland. The cowboy steak was cooked very poorly. Not only was it not cooked to the desired temperature but it did not have a sear and was not hot when it arrived. The steak contained more fat and gristle than meat. They drowned the steak in sauce which hampered how well I could taste the steak. I am aware most reviews of this place are positive and accurate for the experience of that specific Yelper. However, that is unfortunately not the experience we had. The best part of the meal was the view from our seats.

I had seen the Lobster Pot during my frequent visits to Ptown. Finally I had the chance to actually dine there. The restaurant was accommodating and found us seating quickly even with a line. I liked the clam chowder. The server was very inattentive and likely inexperienced and that detracted from the meal. The fish was fine. I liked the ambiance with the seafood vibe overlooking the water. So good but service once you sit down could be improved.

We were in Cape Cod for a few days and made a drive to Provincetown today. After walking around for about an hour we decided to have an early dinner here. It was a great decision. It has a great location overlooking the water. We were lucky enough to get an outdoor table. Service was great from our server, Todd. The menu has plenty of lobster and other seafood options. I started with the watermelon mojito, which tasted and looked great. I then had the cold lobster roll with their homemade potato salad. Both items were delicious. My husband had the hot lobster roll with a side of cole slaw. He also loved his food. For dessert we had the key lime pie. It was also great!

Great lobster and seafood spot, right in downtown Provincetown. Our waiter was amazing and attentive, constantly checking up on us with his incredible energy. We did not have to wait during lunchtime, and the place is bigger than it seems from the outside. Food also came out super quickly, and the turnover is efficient. The lobster roll and lobster clam bake were especially wonderful!

Dined upstairs with beautiful views. Excellent friendly attentive service. We asked so many questions and he was polite the whole time. Drinks were great as was the lobster quesadilla, fresh lobster and plenty of it with melty cheeses. 3 big triangles. The side of potato salad was delicious, had egg in it but that was ok with me, and the cauliflower leek side was so yummy. Breads were fresh, pumpkin bread and warm rolls. The side of cauliflower could have been a larger portion for $9. Blackened shrimp appetizer was perfectly seasoned and so good, could have eaten a dozen of those! However it was expensive for just 4 shrimp, $16. It's a touristy spot but quality was great. Excellent meal and lunch experience! Just on the pricier side.

This was our first time in Provincetown and the consensus by many was for us to visit this place. Wow! This place had fantastic customer service from the minute we walked in all the way through the excellent service received from our server. The pasta dishes we ordered were filled with fresh and tasty seafood! Highly recommend if you're in Provincetown and looking for an amazing seafood experience!

I had a fantastic lunch at The Lobster Pot in Provincetown. The lobster roll was absolutely outstanding--packed with fresh, sweet lobster and perfectly prepared. Every bite reminded me why this place is such a local institution. The service was equally impressive (Andrei). Everyone was genuinely friendly, attentive, and efficient, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food came out quickly, the atmosphere was lively and fun, and the waterfront location only added to the experience. If you're visiting Provincetown, The Lobster Pot is a must. Excellent food, exceptional service, and a classic Cape Cod experience. I'll definitely be back!

This place is over priced, especially for the portion size, but the food was good. We ordered three appetizers. The baked scallop au gratin was fantastic (6 medium sized scallops). The seafood platter was ok but you mostly just get mussels with 2 shrimp and 2 oysters. The fried calamari was good. The restaurant is pretty big with a view of the water. The wait staff was very nice!

An absolute must if you visit P-Town, MA. It's an unorthodox restaurant, you enter through part of the kitchen so there's a lot of activity as you're taken to your table. We were sat upstairs in the covered balcony with view of the bay. We came here in part because of the advertised Fried Whole Belly Clams. "Clam strips are for the tourists" we were told. So... we ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl which was spectacular and the Fried Whole Belly Clams. And they were very good. Meaty, fried in a light batter and delicious. Highly recommend. Parking was an issue as we had to pay $20 to street park since it's quite a busy place. Regardless, I'd return and would recommend.

Food and cocktails were great, and the service was fast and friendly. The highlights were the lobster guacamole appetizer and the ginger green tea martini.

$35 PORTUGUESE FISH: signature fish crusted with RITZ CRACKERS! It's sweet and crunchy and flaky and HUGE! AMAZING!

EXTREMELY DISTURBING EXPERIENCE WITH THE WAITER!…read more This took place around 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 4. Our group consisted of three couples dining together. At the end of the meal, we asked if the bill could be split into thirds. Our waiter, Martin P., told us that he would not split the check and instead instructed us to write down exactly what each person ordered so that he could charge us separately. Although no other restaurant we visited in Provincetown required us to do this, we followed his instructions and listed our individual items. When Martin returned, he was visibly upset and stated that our payments were approximately $70 short. There was confusion because our group was trying to determine who had already paid, who had not, and whether something had been missed in the calculations. I even asked whether we were expected to calculate individual tax amounts ourselves, as no one knew what tax would be for each separate charge. Rather than calmly helping us resolve the discrepancy, Martin began yelling at our group. At one point he stated, "If I don't get $70, I am going to charge one of the credit cards that I have." This immediately concerned us. We were not refusing to pay. We were actively trying to understand where the discrepancy occurred and make sure the restaurant received the full amount owed. To resolve the issue, one of my friends and I went with Martin into a back room to review the charges. After reviewing everything, my friend agreed to pay the remaining balance immediately. The payment was processed and the bill was fully paid. At that point I was trying to calm the situation and bring it to a close. Instead, Martin became even more agitated and began yelling profanities at us. He shouted, "Get the f*** out of my restaurant! It's people like you why we don't split checks! You all need to get the f*** out now!" Other people started noticing this go down. We were stunned. The bill had been paid. Nobody was attempting to leave without paying. We were simply trying to resolve a billing issue after following the waiter's instructions. As we were leaving, my wife later told me that Martin placed his HAND ON HER BACK and guided her toward the exit. While it was not forceful, it felt unnecessary and added to an already hostile and intimidating experience. What happened next is why I ultimately decided to write this review. A few days later, while walking through Provincetown looking for a place to have lunch, our group passed The Mayflower Food & Drink and noticed Martin working there. When he saw us, he deliberately tapped on the glass to get our attention. After making eye contact, he made a hand gesture across his neck and pointed for us to leave and keep walking. The original incident had already ended. The bill had been paid. Yet days later he still felt the need to single out our group and signal that we were unwelcome. Had this simply been confusion over a split check, I would not be writing this review. Billing mistakes happen. What I cannot overlook is being threatened with unauthorized credit card charges, being screamed at with profanity while attempting to resolve the issue, being ordered out after the bill had been paid, Martin touching my wife, and then encountering the same employee days later making a gesture directed at our group from another restaurant. This experience was troubling enough that I believe others should be aware of it.
