There were several other small groups eating inside. Food: For lunch, I got the bulgogi, along with purple rice, mandu (dumplings), and mashed sweet potato salad. My wife got the honey garlic chicken, japchae, and sesame slaw. There were some really good parts and some that were disappointing and underwhelming. For starters, the hot (temperature) entrées weren't really hot. I would say everything was warm. It looked like they were keeping things fresh by only having a small amount in the warming trays, and maybe we got the last of it before another batch was made. Both of the main entrées had great flavor. The bulgogi was very tender, and the marinade flavors were delicious. The honey garlic chicken was also very good, but again suffered from only being warm. The mashed sweet potato salad was a nice surprise and was chilled nicely. The mandu (dumplings) were a bit bland and really needed a bit of soy sauce to add interest. Service: All of the folks who took care of us were very pleasant. They did a great job welcoming us as soon as we entered. We were unsure about some of the items, and they explained them clearly and gave us time to decide. You can order from a list of standard combinations or customize with a starch, protein, and sides. Easy peasy. Genuine smiles, and we felt appreciated. Atmosphere: The place is located in a small strip mall, with lots of natural light coming in through the large front windows. There are several tables and high-tops in the front, with additional tables toward the rear. It's easy to figure out where to go to order. The paper menus and menu board are easy to read, and there are placards that describe what you're looking at. If I came back, I would definitely get the bulgogi again and would just hope that it and the other items were served at a better temperature.

Got us water, took our drink order, along with an order for Onion Rings. The onion rings didn't take long, and they were excellent. Crispy with an interesting texture, hot, and served with a side of ranch (could have used more of that). The drinks were good, with the exception of one glass of a beer flight which was super flat, and was happily replaced by the server. For entrees we got: BLT, Blacked Fish Tacos (with extra bacon), Pesto Encrusted Salmon, and Salmon Power Salad. A note about the Pesto "Encrusted" Salmon. It's not really "encrusted", more like a scoop of pesto placed on top of the Salmon, and they finished under a broiler? Good but not what was expected. Didn't take that long for the food to arrive. It was all very good. The tacos were fresh, great flavor and hot. The fries that came with it, were NOT as not as I would like. Both grilled salmon entrees were also very good. The second thing was the braised beef and mushroom gnocchi. The gnocchi were a little tougher than I would have preferred. The beef however was braised absolutely beautifully with a perfect texture. The third was the salmon crepe. It was served room temp to preserve the salmon in the dish. But IMO the cream cheese in the crepe didn't eat well at room temp. Just my opinion and most of the others at the tasting seemed to enjoy it. I'm not nuanced enough to say if the Rye's paired well with the dishes they were served with but nothing stood out to say they didn't pair well. It was very good, and the marinara it was served with added that extra little zing. For my meal, I got the Sampler, which is walleye, perch, and cod.It comes with tartar sauce, cole slaw, rye bread, and your choice of potatoes. I chose fries. I don't eat cole slaw, but the rest of the plate was delicious and very filling. The fishes were all breaded with the perfect amount and fried to a perfect golden brown. I, personally, would have preferred a bit more creamier tartar sauce, but it was good. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like they should be. Hubs got the walleye plate with potato pancakes, but said that the fries were better. On our second visit, we went on a Saturday night. Hubs wanted the prime rib. I chose the Jaeger Schnitzel and had a Mary Pickford as my cocktail. Hubs said the cocktail was perfect, but I thought it was too heavy on the rum. It's made with Bacardi, not my favorite, and I thought I would taste more pineapple. The meal starts off with your choice of soup or salad, and we both chose the soup. It was tomato soup with chicken and rice tonight, but it does change daily. I'm not a fan of tomato soup, but this was delicious! The chiken and rice were both thoroughly cooked to a nice level of softness. The Jaeger Schnitzel (pork) was pounded thin and evenly breaded with a nice coating that formed a uniform crust. Both were good, but Melanie L. nailed it....I couldn't place the herbal taste of the cabbage until my husband referred me to her review. It was definitely cloves. I didn't think it was heavy handed, but just enough that you could definitely taste it. As for the spaetzle, it could have used a little bit of salt. I let it soak up some of the juice from the cabbage to compensate, and that worked fine. When you order dinner, you get a small relish tray and a basket of rolls and breadsticks. I didn't eat much of that, because I didn't want to get filled up before my actual dinner arrived. That being said, I made it through, but I was STUFFED. If you are a big eater, you probably would have been fine, but I just can't eat a lot in one go. FYI, they do have boxes, if you need to take something home. I had never been to Wegman's, so I can't compare the two, but I can say that Ricky's is definitely doing something right. It has been busy on both of the nights I visited, but service was attentive, efficient, and the timing was excellent between dishes.
