I have had my things in storage since March 2020. So I recently took my thing out of storage on January 19th, 2021. And this is what I find among other things. I find my daughter's clothes and baskets shredded with animal urine all over my shit. It's not just one bag but all through my stuff. I haven't touched this stuff in10 months, and there's no fucking way I'm going to put my shit in storage with urine everywhere and my shit shredded like bedding being made. I am very furious and I called the company and they had the nerve to tell me there are no rodents there and no animals can't get in. So magically someone pissed on my shit and shredded my daughter's things. Never again will I put my shit in storage there. So I finally talked to one of the managers Dale and he had the fucking nerve to tell me I brought mice there, I came from Hamden ridge and it has never been a mouse there. Anyone that knows me I'm not a dirty person.A fucking joke these people are fucking ridiculous. Never the fuck again. Haha, the nerve to tell me it could have hidden in my mattress who the fuck you think I am. I am in the process of relocating outside of New Haven for work and needed a secure place to store some sensitive work equipment and furniture while I am apartment shopping. The Lock Up Self Storage facility was climate controlled which was a must with what I was storing and also very clean. The staff explained everything in detail and I was able to start load my equipment in an empty unit with ease. The day I moved in, I got an irate voicemail from an employee at The Lock Up informing me that my mover had left empty cardboard boxes in the lobby area, and that the manager would be fining me for this. I explained that at my previous storage space in Manhattan, people often left boxes in that area as a courtesy to other customers--which is probably why the mover did the same in Hamden--but that now that I knew their policy, I would be sure not to do it again. A follow-up call from The Lock Up confirmed that I would not in fact be fined. The day I moved out, I realized that I had only two of my three keys on my keychain, and that the third was in my office. I offered to bring it in after my move, but was told that was against policy. Because the move was expensive and I was low on cash, I asked if I could be billed for the mandatory $15 key replacement fee, but was told that wasn't an option. Left without a choice, I used a credit card I did not want to use. Soon afterward, I called to ask if I could use another credit card for the charge and have the first charge reversed, offering to bring in the key in person and, if it was more convenient, pay in cash for the fee along with any additional fees that might be incurred from reversing the charge. I spoke to several people over two days before I got a brusque voicemail saying that my request was completely impossible. (I have the third key here on my desk, by the way.) In between the day I moved in and the day I moved out, my possessions remained locked up and climate-controlled, so that's in the plus column. The email customer service was always helpful, but the in-person and phone experiences leave a lot to be desired. read more

I'm specifically writing this because the staff here was a bit rude. I understand that people can get overwhelmed and frustrated but to take it out on your customers is wrong. The unit was in my room mates name and I'm not sure how hard that is to understand but they spent 10 minutes looking for a unit in my name after I had clearly told them that the unit wasn't in my name, there was no reason to gather my information, you need my friends name. Manager in this facility extremely rude and border line threatening. Couldn't believe it. No one should ever have to endure that type of behavior that I did for purchasing boxes. The way she was speaking to me and using defensive body language, and had very aggressive tone. It's like she was Antagonizing me to fight back with her. She should not be in a customer service role. My husband had to stop me from calling the cops because of the borderline threatening so I will pray she gets the help she needs but the owners need to know how their employee is treating other humans. I felt bad for the nice coworker sitting behind the other desk. I can only imagine what she has to deal with every day. Will not be continuing my business here and I will urge others who use storage as well to stay clear unless they want to be verbally abused. read more

To start off we walked in while my wife drove around the block with the returning truck, we were not even greeted, instead it was an instant silence when we walked through the door. The employee did not state her name, and my daughter walked in and informed the ladies at the desk that we were returning a truck. Quickly, the employee began looking at the camera to ensure that the truck was in the proper area. As my wife and daughters began walking towards the back, the employee simply asked, "Are you sure this is your drop off location?" As advised that it was, the agent pursued walking towards the destined location. This employee asked, "is there anything wrong with the truck?" We all answered "no". She began checking all aspects of the truck, and at the end states "y'all all set" and we all turned away to walk out the main entrance. Then my daughter asked "is there anything we need to sign?" The employee stated, "all set" and we proceeded out the door. Moral of the story is; worst customer service. If you don't like your job, don't work there. Someone can do much better than the poor service provided here. No conversation made. No salutations. Extremely poor customer - associate interaction. read more

This is a very nice storage facility, climate controlled. I have one of the smallest units, yet it is very spacious. Every month, the employees have been very professional whenever I stopped in to make my payments. Today, I was stopping by to remove some items from the storage unit, and I realized that I lost my storage unit keys. I immediately reported it to the office staff member, I was told that I have to pay to have a locksmith to assist me. So, I have been paying monthly, utilitized their keys and lock, and now I have to locate and pay a locksmith to gain access to my storage unit. I am totally bummed out. Paying for a locksmith to meet me at the storage unit to unlock my unit.... Corporate Managers, please assist with Customer Service. Master/replacement keys? I would have been happy to pay for a replacement for immediate access to the unit. I have to research to find a locksmith, pay the locksmith and have him meet me at the storage unit to unlock the storage unit. Help!! read more
