The rules are posted on the wall for lap swimming. On several occasions there have been people that get into your lane and do not abide by the rules. You tell the life guards, and they do nothing. Most of the life guards are teenagers, and they never intervene unless the situation is severe. I have had occasions where someone gets into the lane while I am swimming, and almost crashes into me because they did not look at the rules or follow them. The lifeguards saw all this but still did not say or do anything until the yelling started. This doesn't happen very often, and the offenders are not the lap swimmers. It is usually a kid who is not supposed to be in the lap lane to begin with (summertime issue when school is out and the pool is crowded), or someone who is not a lap swimmer and did not read the rules. Both times it was a huge safety issue. They list the days/times/hours for lap swimming, but do not enforce the rules. It can be very frustrating.

Of note, you do NOT automatically get access to the North Pointe Aquatic Center in Ballwin when you joint The Pointe at Ballwin Commons - there is a separate membership for the outdoor aquatic center. This is definitely a family-centered gym. There are tons of kids around. They are doing some renovations/upgrades of different areas at the time of this review. Currently, the interiors are a bit dull, not fancy like some other gyms. They have large basketball courts and pickleball open play times (no charge). There are swim lessons, open swim times and water walking in the lazy river (check the schedule so you aren't disappointed). There are also a ton of classes and programs with additional charges. There is a childcare area. The weight lifting areas and upstairs indoor track are kind of awkward in design, and not huge but you can get a workout in. The outside is nice. It's not too crowded so I've never had to wait for a machine. There's a track upstairs if you want to walk or run. Fitness classes are included with membership, which is such a great deal, but I haven't tried them yet. There's also plenty of parking, which I always appreciate. Checking in at the front desk is easy; you just scan your keychain and head in. I do wish there was more space to do your own HIIT, bodyweight workouts, and stretching. You can use the classroom if there's not a class going on, but it would be nice if there was a room open all the time.

If you are contemplating having your kid's party here, DO IT!! Trust a mom who has had many'a less…read moresavory party experiences in the area. We had my child's birthday party there on Friday evening, and oh my goodness, we could not have had a more positive experience. Prior to party day, I spoke with Goldi on the phone. She was so kind and warm and helpful, it felt like I was talking to an old friend. She answered every question and was amazing. The day of the party, I was greeted at the entrance with the bright shining faces of Makayla, Goldi, Lisa and Brett. From the second I walked in, they were a cohesive, unbelievably efficient team. Just as Goldi had made me feel on the phone, all four of them made me and all of my guests feel completely at home. My husband and I divided and conquered party day, so I was the solo party prepper (or so I thought!). Goldi and Lisa, like a real life Sonic and Tails, whipped up a beautiful party area for our group with personalized touches, tailored to my son's interests. They did the *work* part, ALL of the *work* part, and let me creatively direct. I let them know my son gets nervous when being sung to, center of attention, etc. and they were beautifully accommodating to that, including pushing off the Huggie parade until he was comfortable. Lisa (Huggie! :]) was patient and fun with all of the kids. Goldi was her right hand lady (literally) to keep things moving, fun and safe. We had one little girl in our party who wanted to see Huggie, but was scared to get close and crying. Goldi approached her so gently and kindly, demystifying the aspects of Huggie she was worried about, and giving the little girl space to choose. Our girl got a huge smile, ran to Huggie and HUGGED him. A child who just moments before was hiding behind her friend in fear, smiling her tears away and facing her fears. It was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Makayla stayed at the front for the first half of the party, and I'm so happy she did because although we'd have loved her company, having her as the first person you are greeted by is a great call by KE Ballwin, because she is sunshine in human form. She kept the lines moving safely and efficiently in both directions, while chatting with and brightening the days of those entering and leaving. She and Brett took over as the primary party people once Goldi and Lisa had to leave, and Goldi physically brought us together to thank me for coming, and verbally handing us off to Makayla, so all of us were on the exact same page the whole time. Brett was also incredibly helpful and seems to be like a backstage manager. It seemed as if they were physically positioned in a way to be able to communicate and work together effortlessly, even from across that giant building! He could not have been sweeter or more helpful either, even reminding me a couple times to absolutely not lift a finger cleaning up our party. I did not have one single minute of stress from the time I reserved my party time to the time we got home with that post-successful party joy! If I ran the world, Goldi, Lisa, Makayla and Brett would get a raise! But at the very least, I feel their kind hearts, work ethics, and clear expertise deserve to be recognized. Thanks so much, guys! There's plenty of parking and such a lovely high view of the overall park for a great backdrop for pictures. The best way to get to this spot is through the entrance from Weidman. A lot of us guests got lost by the many entrances and had to circle around and were afraid we would be too late but it all worked out! Those positive experiences made what followed even more disappointing. My most recent interaction with the front desk the night prior to our event significantly changed my perception of the center. The front desk attendant, Jacqueline, was unprofessional and inappropriate in her conduct. During our interaction, she repeatedly accused us of being dishonest regarding a conversation she was not present for--despite the fact that the conversation was later confirmed to have occurred. She also made claims that we had done something to her, which was entirely untrue. What was even more disappointing was the follow-up from management. While they acknowledged the situation internally, they stated they "cannot force her to apologize" underscoring that he reviewed the video footage. Unfortunately, that footage did not include audio as it would show that I never raised my voice at her, cursed or insulted her. She, however raised her voice and insulted me multiple times. He also failed to acknowledge a key point: the situation was escalated by her repeatedly calling me a liar. Instead of addressing that behavior directly, the matter was reduced to a "she said, she said" scenario. Additionally, there was a third party affiliated with the center who could have been consulted to help verify what occurred as he apologized to us once we left but based on the call, it does not sound like that step was taken. An apology would have gone a long way toward resolving this situation, especially given the personal nature of the insults. Because of this experience, we will be moving future events to other venues whose staff demonstrate professionalism and held accountable when they fall short of that standard.
