This is a fantastic community resource for not only St. Louis county residents, but for everyone. I live in St. Charles county, but in the summer I enjoy visiting the outdoor and indoor pool areas. The lazy river is great and the lap lanes in the indoor pool are nice (but few), except when they run the wave pool every 20 minutes... Then it's a fight for your life to get out before being bashed by people riding the waves in the provided pool tubes. Seriously. ;) For corporate events and family gatherings, the meeting room spaces are bright and well maintained and very affordable to rent. My kids and I have been coming to the lodge for years, have never had incidences. However, our recent visit 6/15/25 about 3:30 afternoon outdoor pool, a life guard(red hair, female) saw our 5 year old sitting on the kid pool water spout(against the rules, not posted and our kid wasn't aware). The Lifeguard ran up, yelled at our 5 year old so much that she came back crying and asking to leave. I approached the lifeguard and asked if maybe the first approach could have been in a way that wasn't screaming at a 5 year old kid to the point that they're crying and begging to leave. She was rude, dismissive and quickly walked inside after ending the conversation with I believe, "you can (explicit) talk to the manager". We have had a lot of good experiences at the lodge over the years, but I don't foresee us coming back. read more

Lodge is clean, showers very clean and attended, bathrooms inspected regularly, front desk reactive to one's demeanor ( you are friendly-they are friendly). The only reason I gave 4 stars is, to me, being a cleanfreak, that the stairs going down to the lower level look to be very dirty. A small thing overall. read more

I didn't even get through the doors good and I heard from the 90 year old lady and young lady ask me what I'm doing here? I have lots to say about The Lodge. Great facilities, along with a wonderful indoor and outdoor pool, a hot tub, and saunas. The Lodge has a wide range of classes, too. But the classes are overpriced, even for members, and the swimming lessons for toddlers were mediocre. Some of the instructors seemed knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but we did swim lessons for 8 weeks, and I don't think anyone knew my son's name at the end. With swim lessons, building trust and positive relationships is SO important, and those aspects seemed to be missing. I also wish that the outdoor pool opened earlier in the morning. Those of us with toddlers who take afternoon naps have limited time to visit the pool before it closes. I was disappointed to learn that the menu options at the concession stand have changed. No more salads or other healthy options. (I should not be surprised, because none of the indoor dispensing machines have healthy options either.) The outdoor pool also has a TON of rules! You may get into trouble if you enter or exit the lazy river in the wrong place, if you walk through the wrong door, allow your kid to hold onto the side of the pool, etc. A list of rules should be posted somewhere, but I doubt that all the rules could fit onto a single board! Multiple times we have come to the pool only to discover that a part of the pool (the water slides, the splash pad, of the main pool) have been closed. I would appreciate a discount on those days - or at least a notification before we pay the hefty price to enter. The Lodge should also invest in a streaming service for music; they play the radio, so you'll spend most of the time listening to blaring commercials in the background. We will still go to the Lodge, but some small improvements could make a big difference! read more

The reason I am leaving this review is I have had a similar experience many many times that others have described with the front desk people being extremely rude. Even as a member, almost every time I come in, I am treated with unwelcoming looks and attitude and the general feeling that they doubt I am a member. It is even worse when I try to bring a guest. This is strictly a review of this pool, b/c I have never used anything else here. However. BEST pool in St. Louis. I swear it. As a former "pool inspector" and lifeguard, I know my good pools. This place is pristine. It has everything you could ever want in a good pool complex. Lazy River, area to wade, deeper water. Lap Pool, Wave pool indoors. Slides, concession stand, etc. etc. It's just great. Also, the place is always up to health code. Seriously, I love this place. I will gladly pay the non-resident fee to go here. This review is for the outdoor pool area at The Lodge- I am not a member and cannot comment on the other amenities they offer (however I do want to find out more one day). I almost feel like this is a secret gem in STL. It is by FAR the best public pool I've ever been to. It is super clean, the employees are friendly, there are multiple pools, slides and lazy river to accommodate whatever pool-mood you are in. The snack bar offers healthier choices than you typically would find- salads, coffee drinks, veggie burgers, etc. We've been on the weekends, and while it was busy, it was not so-overcrowded where you felt like you couldn't move freely. In past summers we frequented the Maplewood pool. Which, if that's where you can go, it's fine. It does the job. The Lodge takes it to a different level. You do not feel as though you're at a pool in the middle of an urban area. You do not have to deal with the unsupervised disrespectful teenagers. You can go, relax, and enjoy your day at the pool. The Lodge, the Lodge, the Lodge of Des Peres. There's a lot I can say about the Lodge - I went there for many a year before I moved to Atlanta full time and it has some great qualities. Great indoor and outdoor pools, nice fitness room for classes, big shower / changing areas plus sauna for both sexes, a big indoor track elevated above the gym and fitness room outfitted with the latest and greatest machines plus cable, and meeting rooms upstairs for all sorts of different functions and presentations. The Lodge also has some pretty severe drawbacks (especially after I've sampled some other fitness facilities now): you have to pay extra for fitness classes, even if you're currently a member, you must prove you live in Des Peres in order to become a member (or be accompanied by one if you want to use the facilities), the Lodge makes you sign up for an entire year's membership instead of a month-to-month deal like many fitness places now allow, and to be perfectly honest, the fitness room (my main domain) feels a little crowded by machines at the moment. I understand that they're utilizing the space they've got and they're locked in by how the gym was constructed, but the last time I was there over the Thanksgiving holiday lifting mostly free weights, I felt very hemmed in by all the weight machines and the tightly packed cardio machines too. The gym I work out at now (LA Fitness), has more floor space to do what it wants in terms of spreading out the machines and giving its patrons plenty of benches, free weights and barbells to go along with its weight machines. I didn't have anything to compare the Lodge's setup to before, but putting it side by side, it now pales in comparison. And LA Fitness doesn't charge members extra to take any and all of its group classes - just show up and you're good to go. The Lodge has a lot going for it and it offers great things to the Des Peres community, but at least for me personally, it's a little over-priced and under delivers compared to other gyms / rec centers. read more

Lazy river, curly-cue slides, a plethora of fitness classes...the ideal spot to soak in the sun or work out your buns. I became a member here a few years ago and loved it because there were hardly any young people. Not that I'm an ageist or anything, but when I'm at the gym I appreciate the calm quiet and lower hormone level of an older crowd. I also loved it because it was hardly ever crowded, and they even post a bar graph of how many patrons are working out at each hour so you can plan for a less crowded time. Now that's what I call attentive service! Their locker rooms are clean (highly unusual), and they even have an indoor wave pool (also highly unusual). I can no longer afford the membership but I still come to swim because of the lazy river and pristine amenities. They also have a food stand where you can buy anything from a veggie burger to fruit to Dippin' Dots. That's my kind of place! read more

We used this venue for an event. It is a really great venue with a very central location. The large, vaulted ceilings make for a great presentation, as well as wonderful acoustics. The staff is very curious and had ice and coffee ready in the room as soon as we walked in. Everything was setup to specifications, and they were responsive to requests we had during the day. The central location made this a wonderful meeting location. The reason I rated this 3 stars rather than 5 is that the meeting planner is extremely unprofessional and the meeting was successful in spite of her. She wouldn't return my calls for weeks at a time, lost payment (she was out when we paid in-person, and then left me a message a couple weeks later saying if we didn't pay immediately they would cancel our booking), and would call me while I was working, even when I specifically requested for an email response. She wouldn't reply to emails so I would have to update the other person on the email thread by phone. I have planned events for over 10 years and this is one of the most unprofessional meeting planners I have dealt with. I am doing another event that will be the same, and will be using another venue. If you have time to follow up with an event planner, or don't mind them calling you at work, this shouldn't be an issue for you. It is a really great venue and if they had a more professional planner I would certainly use it again. read more

Spent much of my summer here. As an actor, I've been to many gyms around the country (and one in China!). The Lodge is extremely luxurious with a warm, welcoming staff. I think the weight room could be bigger and offer more physical therapy/training equipment to all members--not just those paying for personal training. I had to ask for foam rollers, jump ropes, resistance tubing, and kettle balls. That being said, most of their members probably don't know how/why to use these materials and the trainers always said "Sure! No problem!" One of their best assets is the outdoor water park. It's a great way to spend the afternoon with friends--regardless if you exercised! :) Thank you to STAGES and The Lodge for giving me a place to stretch, strengthen, relax and play! I am a member here and I try to come every day to work out. This place is great for families and if you just want to come by yourself. I try to be aware of the hours when I come to avoid the crowd so I can get a quick work out in. I love the in door and out door pools and especially the hot tube and steam room! All the workers are so nice and are eager to help. The gym has everything you could want in a gym from treadmills and ellipticals to free weights up to 115 lbs and squat racks. There are multiple benches with barbells ready to go. The equipment is great quality and very well maintained. I am a bit of a germaphobe at times and there are spray cleaners and towels at every piece of equipment. That is one of the nicest things about the gym. Locker rooms are kept very clean but you need to snag a towel right when you walk in. Great place and I definitely recommend it! read more

My boys paid to play basketball and couldn't get on a court. They left without asking for a refund so I visited in person to request a credit or refund of some sort only to be berated in front of the front desk by Margaret. She managed to make a small problem, a large one......insinuating that not only did my kids lie about leaving without court time, but that i was lying as well. I don't know about you but my time is precious. I went in willing to take a credit or any solution, but was told that my kids should have been more responsible and asked for a refund. My kids weren't given the option nor were they given a receipt. The Lodge took their money and they didn't care. It's a beautiful place, but if you have a problem, you'll be treated as disrespectfully as i was. a community fitness center for everyone... the lodge has a fitness center with nautilaus nitro, free weights, treadmills, elipticals, etc.; personal training, indoor track for walking (moms with strollers welcome at certain hours), swimming (indoor & outdoor in warm weather), mini water slide for kids, sauna, steam room, large jacquizi, party rooms, meeting rooms, classes & programs for everything from yoga to camps for kids, comfy lounges with a large fireplace or tv for before & after, and more stuff than i can recall.... love the nautilaus nitro machines. a complimentary orientation from Frank and i was ready to go. cost is very reasonable. we don't live in des peres, so i pay a non-resident fee. you can be billed monthly or pay for a year up front, which saves you $60. when we moved to stl, i could not find a full-service fitness center that matched what i was used to.... now, at last, i have! love it! read more

So I went to the lodge a month ago with some buddies of mine for our cyc basketball team and I get we had to pay the fee to come in but there were some major disappointments. First off we were running a full court game with the six of us and the gym was empty when some "security" woman approached us and starting telling us we had to pay to play full court. We were confused and asked how much it was and she replied with a disgusted tone saying why would she know. She later came back about an 30 min after that incident and I had just spent about $5 on a vending machine and sat down on the bleachers in the far court. She yelled at me and screamed that I needed to get out. I chuckled a little and began to get up slowly. This "security" person yelled at me again and said "do you wanna go home?" I completely fell into laugher and replied no like any other normal person but apparently she thought it would be a great idea to call for "back up" and after being stalked by this person I decided to leave and never come back. This also wasn't the first time I had problems at The Lodge. I have been there twice and the first time was Valentine's Day of 2015 and I went to play basketball with some friends. I had just bought a hat which cost me $50 and I brought it with me. I was playing and rested it on the bleachers and when I went to leave I noticed that it was STOLEN. I had happened to see that there were cameras right above me and told the front desk what happened and gave them my number for them to call me. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL AND WAS ROBBED. THE LODGE IS HORRIBLE AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANY NORMAL PERSON. THEREFORE I WILL NEVER EVER WASTE MONEY ON THIS DIRTY GYM AGAIN!! read more

Love this place so much! It has something for everyone. My toddler just loved the sprinkler/splash pad area. The kiddie pool is great for the kids too. For the adults, we absolutely loved the slides and the wave pool. There is even an area of water only 6 inches deep where you can just lay down and tan yet still be cool. The lazy river isn't the best compared to Aquaport or The Pointe, but it does it's job. Absolutely loved this place read more

I booked (and paid for in entirety) a swimming birthday party for my 4-year-old daughter months ago for a Friday night and was told that we would have the use of the indoor and outdoor pools. My daughter specifically wanted an outdoor pool birthday party so we made sure her party was before Labor Day. Well I got an email today saying the outdoor pool would be closed on Fridays, meaning we couldn't use it for the party! I called about it and the person in charge of birthday parties told me it was standard and that's just the way it was and if I wanted to cancel I would have to pay a $50 fee even though they are the ones that falsely advertised their birthday parties! No one told me when I booked we wouldn't have the use of the outdoor pool! That is the only reason we wanted my daughter's party there! I am not spending $275 for half of the facility use! Why would I pay the exact same amount as someone else for use of half the facility (especially if it doesn't include the actual fun part)?! Now the party is 2 weeks away and my daughter has no birthday party because all the other pools are booked. Plus I already invited all of our family and friends and now I have to call all of them and cancel! I will never go back to Lodge Des Peres again. I like your facilities but this was underhanded and unprofessional. read more

The Des Peres Lodge is not safe for children, especially the wave pool. My five year old daughter nearly drowned while four life guards watched the pool. I had to pull her out of the pool to safety. Shortly after I ran into the pool fully clothed and rescued my daughter two employees rushed up to me and told me they saw what occured and asked me to sign a form. They never once looked at my daughter or asked if she was okay. To top it off the form was not even filled out. They wanted me to sign a form that they could fill in later. The Des Peres Lodge is a dangerous place for children. I pray they make the necessary changes to their staff and regulations before someone is seriously injured. read more

To Paige N, The Lodge does allow memberships to people outside living in Des Peres. It just costs more, which is the policy of all townships. There is a normal, or reduced rate, for the citizens of the given township. Also, you can pay your membership rate by the month, with no added fee for paying monthly. Now my own thoughts about the Lodge: There lodge is a nice facility, that has drawn more crowd than it can accommodate at most times of the day. It means that to use the facilities more easily, you need to go very early in the morning, or at times when people are at work and kids in school. Parking is difficult at premium times. I'm in agreement with Paige, and a few other reviewers, that the cost for classes, activities, etc., is unfortunate. And the costs are not cheap, and also in agreement with others, the management of those types of activities are not up to par. They charge for activities right up to the last minute even when they do not have enough people signed up for the activity to proceed. As a resident of Des Peres, it's very unfortunate, outright sucks, that the various rooms cannot be used freely. You have to rent rooms and they are very expensive. So if you wish to have a meeting for any reason, it will cost you, and enough to be prohibitive of getting on with your desire. They have free access to WiFi, but what good is it if you cannot go into a room, sit down and use the service? You have to sit in a lobby chair with your laptop which is not ideal. The concession stand is closed more often than it is open. Cannot comment beyond that. If the Lodge was on more acreage, was bigger with more floor space for more equipment, and had a cafe, with slightly more lenient administration of the use of the rooms, it would be 7 stars out of 5. My best friend and I showed up with our brand new Fin Fun mermaid tails and the wave pool was going. One employee had us wait until the wave pool wave over (30 minutes!!!!!!!!) and when it was over we started putting them on near the pool and one employee (looked more like a manager) said no, we cannot swim. Wow! Thanks for telling us earlier! That was rude, we had to wait a LONG time just to get a ride from my parents back to my house and that stupid employee could have told us earlier when we were sitting on the side for 30+ minutes.
