A little divey looking at first, but great. Located right next to City Hall. We sat at the bar for drinks and ordered some potstickers and coconut shrimp. Both were great and beautifully garnished with fresh thoughtful ingredients. We came back a 2nd night since we were staying next door for a work trip. Headline: Surprising Gem in Rancho Cordova. Location: When I think casino restaurant. I don't default to RC but a friend spoke highly of this place so I figure I would give it a chance. Upon arrival, we parked and at first we saw the tiny little wall entrance and my mind immediately went with hole in the wall but around front is the main entrance. The lobby is nice open and airy with a wilderness vibe and springy not the smoky smell I would expect. The restaurant area gives pretty standard restaurant which was a big plus for me. We were seated quickly. Service: Our server was training someone new during the process but I wouldn't have thought she was new. Both of our servers were great and super attentive. It was not very busy but really appreciated the service. Food: This is where I was surprised. The food is American fare but they do have some surprising items like loco moco. We primarily tried the value menu items but they were all decent quality and at 12 dollars for a meal it is hard to beat! Drinks were decent as well and they made a pretty wicked old fashioned. I've been coming here for years. More for their drinks but I occasionally grab a full meal. Bartenders and servers are the best! They brought back their prime rib so I had to try it out. Currently Thursday's from 5-9pm. Not sure how long this will be around for. Price of the 10oz prime rib with salad and dessert is $30. Not a shabby deal tbh. BUT the prime rib was a bit underwhelming. Asked for a medium rare, yet it felt more on the rare side. Fatty as well, and not evenly cut. They salad portion was great. We weren't given an option for salad dressing, so ranch was what we had. Ice cream was peak satisfaction. Had the happy hour calamari for $12 as an appetizer. It came out quick. The peices were coated nicely, season well and was hot from the fryer. Came with marinara and cocktail sauce. I threw in my favorite part of the meal, the happy hour soft pretzels. It comes with two. Piping hot, fresh, not overly salty. It came with cheese dip and this honey mustard. The honey mustard or whatever sauce they served was really good. I'd come back just for that and have it on my salad. The food items on the menu are new. Added more options and removed a lot of fan favorites too (like the bahn mi fries... boo). If you're looking for a place that has an international menu with great flavor and quality this is the place!! I lived here all my life and passed the neon casino sign off hwy 50 never knowing this hidden gem existed. I ordered the French dip - one of the best I've had. The food here was absolutely fantastic. There was one bartender and he was doing an amazing job handling all the drink orders and dinner orders. My food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and my fashioned was very well made. The decor of the lodge is very warm and inviting. Came here yesterday for some lunch and football around noon. Ambiance - it was pretty quiet and laidback. Bar area was kinda dim. Food - got the Diablo sliders. Fries and a mimosa. Sliders was delicious. Juicy. Melted cheese and that habanero kick. It was definitely worth it. Mimosa was standard good. All of this would amount to a 4 stars maybe even 5. The big drop is because of the terrible bartender. I didn't get his name. Younger male. I want to say in his 20s. Light colored hair. He spent more time flirting and joking with one of the female patron. I assume she's a regular since he knows her by name. He barely came around to check in. Refill water. I didn't get utensils till my food arrived. Like 10min after I ordered. Then he started telling loudly about an incident that occurred recently. He said something like a guy fell and hit his head. Was bleeding. And he tried to call 911 but the phone at the bar doesn't work for some reason. And then complained that when emergency crew arrived. They were nonchalant and not rushing. He emphasized that the person was turning blue. Here's the thing. A patron talking like this. Sure. Customers go to bars to vent sometimes. It's expected. But this wasn't that. Why is the bartender venting while working? And not to mention talking about injuries and blood while people are eating. Seriously lacking professionalism and etiquette. The food was delicious the salmon was sautéd with lemon pepper, the sauce was amazing and at the end we decided to try the sizzled cookie on a skillet with ice cream which was to die for. Dining area was closed and gaming area had roughly 5 people (slow dY) We were never greeted and after about 10 mins we decided we were not welcome. Been eating here at the Lodge in the Parkwest Cordova Casino since 2010 and have frequented this restaurant with my kids and family over the years. Although I miss the larger menu options and lower prices of the past their food is always consistently good regardless and there is a variety of food from Asian to American to choose from. Never had anything bad here to be honest, not once. Service is great also and it never gets too crowded here. Hidden gem right off highway 50 and a great place to enjoy a good meal and nice ambience. I went here to go to The place where I had the first date with my girlfriend. There are never a lot of people in the dining room so no need for reservations. My girlfriend and I are both diabetic so we like the steak. The Lodge is mainly a casino, but has sentimental value for me.
