Have never had a bad dinner or drink here. After several experiences over 18 months of being stationed at Fort Benning, I would recommend the Loft to all comers. The pork chop, salads, and apps are all top notch. Fish specials are a good bet too. Priced below Epic, Meritage, and other pricier options, the Loft is great for informal dining with large parties. Would come here again if visiting Columbus. Make sure to use call ahead seating though if you're there on the weekend, waits can be long. read more

I've been here once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is really very tasty. My last visit was for lunch, and I had the goat cheese burger, with a turkey burger instead of beef. Some places end up with really dry turkey burgers, but this one was perfect. The goat cheese sauce that they put on it was amazing. They did put way too much spinach on the burger, but that can be easily removed so I'll forgive it. My table also had the buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer. It was good, but very similar to what I've made at home (the warm pita bread that the serve with it, though, omg, YUM). I had macaroni and cheese as a side, and it was also very yummy, you could tell that it was genuinely homemade. My negatives - it is a bit in the pricey side, not so much that I won't go back, but enough for me to comment on it. The service was also on the slow side both times that I've visited. read more

The fried brie is AMAZING! I specifically chose to eat here while travelling on business because of the fried brie. I arrived after 8 on a Thursday and the hostess seemed slightly reluctant to seat a party of one at a regular table instead of the bar. She told me there would be a 20-30 minute wait which was fine. A few tables cleared out pretty quickly and I probably only waited 10 minutes. I also had the pulled pork tostadas and white cheese grits. They weren't overly tasty, but were fine since my main goal was enjoying that brie! The waitress was very nice and attentive. They seem to have a lot of live entertainment, but I didn't see anything going on when I was there (maybe there is a separate area or floor for people who go for the entertsinment?) so I can't comment on that aspect. read more

Ordered the filet medallions with blue cheese and onions. Sounded wonderful . It Arrived to me swimming in a pool of burnt tasting balsamic vinegar . Yuck!! I like balsamic vinegar but the steak was literally floating in a plate of awful tasting vinegar . Just horrible tasting . Husband ordered the burger and said very bland and tasteless. The Loft has been the epicenter of Uptown Columbus for 22 years. As a forerunner for downtown businesses, they paved the way for more development in the area. There isn't another venue in town like it. The Loft is a two-level restaurant, with an entertainment venue upstairs. Accommodations include outside seating upstairs and downstairs, a New Orleans style balcony and the perfect spot for people-watching. Four years ago Tom Jones took control of the kitchen. He changes the menu often, and is a perfectionist on quality. Let me start this off with saying, we are not from this area, but decided to check out The Loft based on these yelp reviews so that we could celebrate my son's graduation. I just wanted to confirm the reviews that I had already seen. There were 8 of us and since there were no reservations, just call a heads, we decided to wait at the bar. From this moment on, I was VERY VERY IMPRESSED. The sweetest, most adorable little bartender came over (Becca?) and quickly directed us through their drink options, suggesting ones that my mother would like, her own favorites, wine lists, beers on tap (they even had some local crafts so hubby was pleased!) Since we were waiting for a table, she also suggested a couple great items to hold us over- buffalo dip (not quite as good as mine, but still tasty) and the fried Brie which was a hit for us all. We also received complimentary kettle chips and onion dip. Our bartender kept us laughing hysterically not an easy task with the group I brought in, she also told us local places to check out in the area, the history of The Loft and really made us feel like family. Bar. Set. For the dinner portion we were brought to the restaurant side, service was good, went with the recommendation of bar to get pork chops (delish!!!!) my mother got some fish tacos that were... okay. Overall, service was second to none, food was 4/5, a little crowded for a Tuesday, but would absolutely be back upon next visit. I had such high hopes for this place. I really did. The reviews led me to believe this was going to be great. The service was great and the speediness was great. The food was not good. I had a ribeye that was supposed to be 16 oz. It was probably about 10 oz of connective tissue and 6 oz of meat. The boyfriend got halibut which tasted so fishy that I'm kind of worried that he ate it. I understand it's fish, but halibut has an actual taste, it doesn't just taste like fish. I guess this place isn't the kind of place where you should order higher end dishes. But if it's on the menu they should be able to make it. The poutine was fine. Nothing to write home about but that's to be expected from poutine in the south. The Mac and cheese is in one giant pan and you just get a scoop like you're at a cookout, so it was cold when we got it. The mushrooms tasted like they were out of a can. I wanted dessert so badly going in, but with everything else being such a disappointment, I decided against it. Last date night in Columbus ended poorly with this place. read more

Let me preface by saying the last time I went to the loft was the night after my wedding when a group of about 12 of us went out for a late dinner and a couple drinks. Everything was great! I had looked forward to going back for nearly 7 years and was sorely disappointed with what it has become. Called in an order on Friday night, was told 40-50 minutes for it to be ready. We arrived after an hour and 5 minutes to find out our order was never put in but not to worry "the manager is going to take care of it." Well. after being offered twice, I took them up and let them get me a drink. After 10 minutes of waiting our food and bill was presented and we paid, just happy to be getting out of there at that point. Walking towards the door I was stopped and informed I needed to pay for the drink I was offered twice, I informed the waitress that the manager had offered it to me and that was that. Got back to our hotel (about a 3 minute walk) and sat down to eat. The burger was fair at best but the really disappointing item was the fish and crab, the crab was arguably the blandest I have ever tasted. I can not attest to the fish as I did not try a bite but my wife was sick all the following morning and that's the only item we did not share. Needless to say this place is in need of some good management desperately. Very disappointed and will not be back. read more

Downstairs at The Loft is our very favorite restaurant in Columbus. Chef Tom has a great menu and I can honestly say we have never had a meal we didn't enjoy. The un-stuffed chicken with baby spinach is something we order again and again. I must say they have the BEST hamburgers I have ever eaten. The staff is friendly and well trained. Great bar area with flat screens and bartenders that know their stuff! I recommend Downstairs for dinner and The Loft for comedy or great music upstairs, depending on the night. A friendly place for casual fun, golf shirt and jeans mixed with dress shirts and sport coat. Go Pre-concert for drinks or dinner, or party after. Downstairs at the Loft is easily the best restaurant in Columbus outside of the private establishments and honestly better than most of those. The place is excellent on all fronts. First the atmosphere is great. Right on Broadway with floor to ceiling windows that line the sidewalk with great views of the nightlife. The inside is a long tall room with beautiful brick walls with paintings of local musicians on the wall. The service is always great with knowledgeable waiters. The food is excellent. Nightly specials are always good; often a seafood of some sort. The steaks are some of the best in town and the unstuffed chicken is some of the best food I have ever had. The price can't be beat for this quality of food. The place is loud, in other words, not the best place to go for a meeting or to take your grandmother, however it is a great place to go with friends. read more

The food is a little expensive, but it's worth going because you get what you paid for. I tried their Caesar salad and it was DELICIOUS! And I'm not a big fan of salads, but my wife insisted. The server was right on top of us. I also had a Swiss burger with Portobello mushroom. They play jazz sometimes. Now, I'm not a big fan of jazz but we had a great time with friends upstairs after we ate. Employees were extremely friendly. Hard to think of any downside. Thiz is a place for yuppiez. Two many peopel dressed to impress, two many stuck up motherfuckers, it makes me kind of nervouz, thou there were some hot chicks, kind of sluty looking. wish I hadn't gone with my wife, dog. Thiz place is ok if you like jazz, I guess. They had some guyz playing jazz music, which i honestly didn't give a shit about, all jazz songz sound the same to me, can't tell the difference and aren't in the least interested to learn. Server was good, so thats why I left a juicy tip. I don't mind leaving good tips but they gotta work for them, ya know what i mean, he wasn't your typical ass kisser, the kind of serverz i hate. i like the server to be there for me, but not go overboard. They said they brought a chef from Atlanta or something, well let me tell you the food was kind of stale and not worth the prize at all, so if it was prepared by a chef i'm not impressed because whenever i get behind that kitchen counter of mine at home, I can cook better thingz fa you, so food was ok, i guess, and if thats what they call a jovial atmosfere like they promoted, well let me tell ya, the salon waz dominated by old farts thinking they looked like Hugh Grant or Pamela Anderson in them best yearz.
